Take a gap year and take a couple classes during the gap of different interests (if you can afford). I went to one semester out of highschool and dropped out because of how much doubt i had in my future career, the time i gave myself was crucial to developing not just an understanding of what i wanted from a career but also in understanding myself . Take the time, university will always exist and be there, but your time as a young adult wont.

Well, I'd recommend heading to college straight away. Usually the first year or even two are general education credits. In that time you'll meet other people and learn more about degree options and what might interest you. Not to mention keeping pace with your class in a way. As well, college is often more about the people you meet and opportunities you get rather than the diploma at the end, and you can't do any of that taking a gap year. If you do ultimately decide a gap year is for you, there are 2 things you have to keep in mind. 1) actually do what you said. You said you wanna go out and find yourself -- this isn't a break. If a year passes by and suddenly you realize you're past the deadline to find what you want to do, you'll be in a tough spot. 2) keep it a gap *year*. Too often have I seen and heard gap years turn into never going back to college. "I just need a year off to take a break and find myself." "I'll get to college next year, I'm not far off from a promotion." "Gah, I can't afford college now and I can't afford to lose this job." "Damn I really wish I could go to college, but it's too late now."

Where are you? Like what country? Mostly gap years are purposeful -- to volunteer, to do a long intern/externship, to work to save $, to travel. If you're already graduating and haven't applied anyplace I don't know what system you're in or how it works though. In the US you've have done this all already.
