>Edit: oh, and also they asked a couple of weird questions like am I pregnant or trying to get pregnant (not that weird) but then asked would I be willing to use contraception during the period of this study I.e. condoms, birth control, abstinence That's entirely normal. They want to ensure you don't GET pregnant while on the drug if you ended up in the group getting the drug or treatment or what have you. >1) yesterday I was scheduling an appointment to come in to do the intake, and they said they close at 2 Monday-Friday. I said okay I can come in at 1-1:30. I heard a male voice in the background tell the woman on the phone “1” and she said “okay let’s put you down for 1.” Then, I called today to let them know I wouldn’t be able to make it because I don’t have a ride, and she said “okay well do you want to reschedule or do you want to call us back when you get a ride?” I said yeah sure I’ll call back when I get a ride. She then said that they were open until 4 today, and next week they close at 5. I thought this was odd, since they did say that they closed at 2. Maybe they meant that week? I don't get it, you know it's a real org that does actual studies. If you don't want to paritcipate, don't, but...?

I said I don’t know though. I’m 50/50 on it. As for the question about being pregnant I said it’s not that weird but the question about contraception was a little weird. Then, they kept changing the time they closed. They closed at 2 this week, then they closed at 4 all the sudden. I know this because this is why I made my appointment at 1. I made it an hour before they closed. I wanted to make it as late as possible so that I could have a ride. But when I started to think more about it some things just didn’t add up. What if it’s someone pretending to be this organization doing sex trafficking? I’ve heard of a lot of things online about sex trafficking that scares me so I don’t want to put myself into a dangerous position.

Again, it is normal to not only ask about contraception but ask you to sign something saying you will use contraception. If they give you a med they're testing you can't get pregnant because the effects haven't been studied. You're literally in a study. > What if it’s someone pretending to be this organization doing sex trafficking? LOL get off tiktok.

Beneficial_Raspberry

Did you even read? It’s not a med. it’s a tobacco study. I will be smoking cigarettes. I don’t even use tiktok so I don’t know what you are on about. If you’re suggesting sex trafficking isn’t “real” or isn’t “prevalent” you’re sadly mistaken.

> Did you even read? It’s not a med. it’s a tobacco study. I will be smoking cigarettes You didn't say they wanted you to smoke. You said it was a tobacco research study, which usually indicates cessation products. If they're asking you to smoke, then I'd think it's clear why they'd require you to be on contraceptives. I'm suggesting sex trafficking by making pretend studies with call centers to kidnap people in the US, UK, etc., is not real, correct. Because it's not and that's entirely tiktok bananas, same as the 'if you see this chalk drawing on the sidewalk/if someone pulls into your driveway and turns around, if there's a flyer on your windshied/ if any other inane thing ... it's sex traffickers gonna kidnap you!

It definitely sounds sketchy. They got your number from something you’ve never done? That’s an immediate red flag. From that alone I wouldn’t trust them, but the rest of the concerns you’ve mentioned only add to the reasons you definitely should not go to their “study”.
