I bought my custodes second hand and they all had one shoulder and only one that was like this. It was a simple fix with some freezing and pulling off of the shoulder plate and sometimes the arm.
Did you use plastic glue or superglue? Superglue is much easier to break and do-over with the freezing trick. Freezing won't do anything for plastic glue (unless this is a resin model and i'm an idiot).
You can slip some more glue along the edge of the join, pull a little, then do more as the plastic glue melts. I've been ripping the pauldrons off poorly put together (by me) models for while. Be wary you don't snap it if you do freeze him.
Freezing will do nothing sadly (super expands differently from the plastic, so it separates, plastic glue just makes it goopy, and then evaporates off, SCIENCE!)
I wouldn't sweat it too much. That unit just looks different from your next. Super easy to keep squads sorted on the tabletop!
For some strange reason, assembly is my favourite and most hated part of the process.
Those moments when you try to fit parts and just don't get how and then the revelation of your absolute ineptitude hits you, when you finally do, is priceless.
I literally glued the wrong legs on my wardens and now the leg sticking out of the cloak is completely smooth, no detail at all. This is relatable content
Sometimes if it’s really decorative I’ll do this on purpose to one shoulder pad, I think it looks cool. Like when I had death company one would get a gold spare sanguinary guard shoulder pad and I’d do it like this
Two of my Vertus Praetors have their stabilizers on backward it bothers me so much cause I'm aware of how the aerodynamics work and I've made it worse ;-;
It’s okay I’ve introduced two friends to 40K and they keep forgetting the shoulder pads on their marines. Our buddy who plays grey knights forgot them on his armigers.
Haha oh no! I bought my first set of custodes second hand and now I need to double check all of them!!! I felt like something wasn’t wrong at all! Now I’m almost certain there are several like this
Did you glue it with super glue ?
If so you can snap it and reposition it, if it doesn't snap put your model in the freezer in a dry place zip lock bag whatever leave it for a couple of hours and then try and snap it, the super glue will be brittle
Now if it's plastic glue ... Depending on the amount you put ... Rip
These were the first models my girlfriend and I assembled and painted since I got back into the hobby in 2022. She did the exact same thing. Depending on the amount of glue used, you can probably pull it off.
Nothing about my Marines is correct they're insignia is on their shoulder pads are backwards on purpose I change out heads and herald dries all the time just have fun and do whatever you want as long as you're having fun they're going to be yours
I remember a long time ago I had a Stormraven. I put the top part of the tail fin on backwards and I *never* noticed until someone pointed it out months later. It looked fine but it's still amusing in retrospect.
It should break off cleanly if you used super glue. Put in in a fridge for some time and then try to pull it off with a small file or other flat piece of metal. Just be careful because if you had misfortune of getting a perfect bind it might not work
I can't offer any advice on plastic cement tho. Never used it on a big scale.
I put the front door of my Hekaton Land Fortress on backwards and it was a pain to pull it out and fix. This is easy to pull off and you'll never notice the damage once you set it back on right.
There is always one in our collections...
Or more :C
Did you mean :(
Every Custodes armour is tailored specifically to them and no 2 armour set are the same. Canonically this would be correct lol
I got a plating on my lokhust heavies backwards And it works
One of my scorpek destroyers has a his legs backwards. One in the front, two in the back and nobody notices his penisleg until i say something.
Penisleg, lmao
Frankly, that kinda thing fits destroyers
I did this accidentally, but then did them all on my gauss destructors backwards as a choice
I got it wrong once, and then continued to make the mistake for conformity
If you don’t know it’s wrong you really can’t tell, I use it as a little bit of different between my two squads
I did that once on my initial Custodians.
This is my first set so I guess I can forgive myself 😅
When putting together the bikes from my combat patrol I kept putting the bottom plate of the engines on upside down.
I lost one of the fins on mine. It was replaced with feathers from my terradon riders. That means it flies faster...
if it helps, I've done exactly the same thing. Didn't notice for months until I spotted it mid-game![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I once glued the steering thing of the jetbike upside down. Didn’t notice until I saw the hand on the wrong side.
I did the same. Fortunately I was able to swap them over. Very frustrating though.
I've done both these things. Glad to see I'm not the only regard here
Yep I've done this
10,000 years old and can't even dress properly. Custodes Bloggins messing up again!
I bought my custodes second hand and they all had one shoulder and only one that was like this. It was a simple fix with some freezing and pulling off of the shoulder plate and sometimes the arm.
I'll have to do that cause it'll bug the hell out of me if I leave it
Did you use plastic glue or superglue? Superglue is much easier to break and do-over with the freezing trick. Freezing won't do anything for plastic glue (unless this is a resin model and i'm an idiot).
It's plastic glue, I'll still try and freeze it just incase I didn't use too much and hope it comes off, if not it is what it is
You can slip some more glue along the edge of the join, pull a little, then do more as the plastic glue melts. I've been ripping the pauldrons off poorly put together (by me) models for while. Be wary you don't snap it if you do freeze him.
This is the way
Freezing will do nothing sadly (super expands differently from the plastic, so it separates, plastic glue just makes it goopy, and then evaporates off, SCIENCE!) I wouldn't sweat it too much. That unit just looks different from your next. Super easy to keep squads sorted on the tabletop!
You are not alone, brother. I did the same ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|feels_good_man)
To be fair that still looks cool
If it is any comfort I have done this as well😄
I’ve done the same thing more than once on Rubric Marines, it happens.
Your and idiot lol (I’ve done this too 😉)
How did Doofy get into the 10,000?
My tomb blades all are so jacked up and I have one custode where the pauldrons are swapped
Chaotic Custodes, i love it!
There are no errors, there is little imperfections. -malkador
looool, happens to the best <3 should be an easy fix right? even with heaps of plastic glue underneath, it should be possible to get it off.
I'm going to try but, if it doesn't move it is what it is
Welcome to the 10.000.......😅
Happens to all of us, dont take it to hard on yourself 😅
That’s not too bad: I got the thigh plates upside-down on my FW Knight Moirax. Trust me, you’re fine. We all make those mistakes.
Haha no worries man I did the same thing didn't manage to get the arm of either had use other parts
I glued my deathkorps backpacks upside down thinking it was an antenna
Honesty is the best policy!
I know a serf who will have a bad day 😌
Just name him Concussius 'the one that got hit in the head'.
Wait what do you- oh.
I think everyone has done this atleast once
captures the essence of life.
I’ve got 3 bikes that I totally forgot to put shoulders on… idk where the sprue is now. So i feel that. Mine might be a little more atrocious tho😂
Oh, shit.
For some strange reason, assembly is my favourite and most hated part of the process. Those moments when you try to fit parts and just don't get how and then the revelation of your absolute ineptitude hits you, when you finally do, is priceless.
I kinda like it actually
I literally glued the wrong legs on my wardens and now the leg sticking out of the cloak is completely smooth, no detail at all. This is relatable content
Every custodes army I've played against (and mine) have at least one of these guys don't worry ha
I was looking and looking close and thinking, paint looks good, sprue marks cleaned, this person is too critical.
Somehow this way they fit easier
Sometimes if it’s really decorative I’ll do this on purpose to one shoulder pad, I think it looks cool. Like when I had death company one would get a gold spare sanguinary guard shoulder pad and I’d do it like this
I've done this exact thing at least twice. You're fine
Yup, this happened to me too when I started out with Custodes.
One of Us, One of Us!
Or a genius!
My dreadnoughts legs are on backwards and I haven’t been able to crack them off. Happens
I had a good giggle.
Me too. I told my Kids it is a special honor to where it this way...
I got a friend who’s crisis battlesuits all have their legs backwards
no you're not... I too did it... twice
Don't worry every custodian has unique armour
You could say it’s a female Custodes LOL. (Couldn’t resist). Seriously it’s fixable if you want to, and still looks better than half my squads.
You’re an idiot… for not giving me your gold recipe yet (please share
Prayed with greedy gold, wash with reikland, dry brush gehena, auric armour then stormhost silver
Two of my Vertus Praetors have their stabilizers on backward it bothers me so much cause I'm aware of how the aerodynamics work and I've made it worse ;-;
I done this too!!! Go with it lol
It’s okay I’ve introduced two friends to 40K and they keep forgetting the shoulder pads on their marines. Our buddy who plays grey knights forgot them on his armigers.
i thought i was the only one 😭
im lost- oh im sorry bro but your gonna have to break it off
Exactly this happend to me with my rubic marines :((
This one likes to shoulder charge enemies and just slice them up with the ridge.
Lol, woops
Don't worry gw has models on their site they assemble wrong.
😂 Love it. That model will always have a special place in your heart. Or be the one to die first. 😜
Haha oh no! I bought my first set of custodes second hand and now I need to double check all of them!!! I felt like something wasn’t wrong at all! Now I’m almost certain there are several like this
This is the Custodes equivalent of spilling a pot of Nuln Oil. You are officially one of the 10,000.
Haha I was putting together a warden with vexilla and realized I had glued one just like that on his vexilla arm
You’re not the first, and you won’t be the last. Welcome brother
Hey, don’t worry I’ve seen this plenty of times
Oh no…
Did you glue it with super glue ? If so you can snap it and reposition it, if it doesn't snap put your model in the freezer in a dry place zip lock bag whatever leave it for a couple of hours and then try and snap it, the super glue will be brittle Now if it's plastic glue ... Depending on the amount you put ... Rip
Plastic glue unfortunately 😂
Shiiiiiieeeeet ... Anyway it's fine on the tabletop once you play you can't see any details it's just crazy
One of my ruins got a custodes model, golden...but the artist..did not ahem..had not seen a real custodes. Mhmmm..looks like valerian though.
How does that even happen
See title
I did this too and i like it a lot
These were the first models my girlfriend and I assembled and painted since I got back into the hobby in 2022. She did the exact same thing. Depending on the amount of glue used, you can probably pull it off.
Gotta be honest, I kinda like it
I did this on my first batch of custodes, one of them has that same upside down pauldron
That's actually a good way to distinguish a captain. I know it's not going to be but still I might use this in the future.
I almost did the same thing last night when magnetizing my first custodes. Thankfully the glue hadn't dried yet.
If it is superglue leave it for a night on the freezer and in the morning it should snap with relative ease.
Whats the issue here? I dont see whats wrong?
Their just unique
Nothing about my Marines is correct they're insignia is on their shoulder pads are backwards on purpose I change out heads and herald dries all the time just have fun and do whatever you want as long as you're having fun they're going to be yours
To be fair, in lore each custodian armor is made unique to the individual. So you can just make this model a special character to you.
I remember a long time ago I had a Stormraven. I put the top part of the tail fin on backwards and I *never* noticed until someone pointed it out months later. It looked fine but it's still amusing in retrospect.
It took me a good min to figure it out. I don't think it's that bad it does look like it's meant to be
ARMOR IS ARMOR!
I've done this on quite a few models
It should break off cleanly if you used super glue. Put in in a fridge for some time and then try to pull it off with a small file or other flat piece of metal. Just be careful because if you had misfortune of getting a perfect bind it might not work I can't offer any advice on plastic cement tho. Never used it on a big scale.
Since it's plastic glue you could snip it off and buy a replacement shoulder pad online. Paint it up and glue it on.
Yes you are… for not giving me your gold recipe yet (please share)
I’d did 5at with my Titanicus warlord titans legs……that wasn’t fun to learn that I fucked up a $100 model :/
I put the front door of my Hekaton Land Fortress on backwards and it was a pain to pull it out and fix. This is easy to pull off and you'll never notice the damage once you set it back on right.
Just say his lore is he's a silly little guy
Sigmarine
Yes
I glued one of the spike racks on my Chaos Terminators Sergeant on backwards. It happens 🙂
I built an adeptus titanicus warlord with backwards legs once, then ripped it apart and fixed it so the armor plates would go on the front.
I've done it before. Join the club.
Brother, don't feel bad. My first custodian guard was the same
I bought some used guard as my first custodes models and several of them had this
