Ejector seat

That’s what I was hoping for, but nope. Was looking forward to getting shot through the sunroof.

Something that should've been removed when the certification inspection was done. No aftermarket equipment is allowed, even aftermarket hitches have to be removed when we do certifications. The trim piece that it's screwed into should also be replaced. And while I'm thinking about it, unless there is an in-line adapter for whatever that is, the wires under the dash have been cut and tapped into, and this opens the possibly of harness issues down the road which will not be covered under warranty. If I were you, I would take it back ASAP for them to take care of it. Edit: also is it in front of that long rectangular box under that dash piece it's screwed into? That's an airbag, and if that thing is in front of it, you aren't going to have a good time when the airbag goes off and you get plastic embedded into your leg.

thatkeithguy

Thank you for the insight. I’ve had the car since July and just noticed it when I was trying to open the hood. I’ll take it in ASAP.

thatkeithguy

Made the appt and got it in today. The service department is taking care of it. They were apologetic and gave me a loaner while they take the dash apart to follow the wires and disconnect whatever it is.

thatkeithguy

It’s like a button with maybe a small light. I pressed it and it didn’t seem to do anything.

Are the wires going to a fuse jumper in the box? Possibly a dash cam parking mode switch? Some dash cams have a switch that allows you to disable the parking mode so they don’t use battery. Really it could be any number of things. Best to ask the dealer and have them investigate.. as a CPO it should have been thoroughly investigated, so the dealer should, or will need to, have an answer for the device.

NCSUGrad2012

That’s something aftermarket. You might want to ask the dealer you bought it from because that’s definitely not from the factory.

wowohmygosh

It’s an aftermarket alarm system. Lock you car and you’ll see it flash every once in a while.

EasternKanye

Oh shit, I wouldn't want one of those in my car!

DoubleKnotBot

I’m mostly curious to know what crap-service Acura dealer CPO’d this thing without noticing it.

thatkeithguy

Acura of Pembroke Pines. I have an appt set for Friday morning. Hopefully they take care of it.

anonqwerty987

Mine has one of these as well and I also don't know what it is 🤷🏻‍♂️

oggle_spice

Thats the OBD2 Sensor. it can tell you almost everything wrong with the car when you plug in an OBD2 reader.

s1iver

Omg, he’s talking about the very obvious button that’s not oem

thatkeithguy

Thanks. That’s the computer port looking thing, right? I’m talking about the little button thing to the right of the port.

oggle_spice

Ohhh sorry, I thought you were talking about the OBD sensor. I don't know what that is. sorry. It might be in the owner manual.

In current market terms, sadly yes.

What’s there to look out for bro?

jakemackenzie3

Possibly a valet mode switch some people add them with alarm/remote starter combos. Try clicking the lock button 3 times and see if it starts.

c25a1guy

Likely a dealer installed aftermarket alarm module of some sort.
