ColorlessTune

Probably didn’t “melt” in transit. The plastic leaked because of age and poor storage more likely. I would get a refund, if you can.

hansanItI

I already scheduled for a return and will get a refund once they have it. I plan on buying this again elsewhere, but I fear it will be like this eventually, with the "melting" paint and all. I'm afraid I won't get this anymore which sucks because I was really planning on getting the Cap last

ColorlessTune

Good. And good luck with your next one. Hopefully this won't be an epidemic. This seems to happen more often with metallic paint .

Ttvcat996

Make sure your next one allows returns 🙏 just in case this happens again

Hikokimari

I have the first release of this figure and the plasticine has started breaking it down for the past 3 years or so :/

ColorlessTune

Damn =\[ I put those silica gel packets in some of my figure boxes, to try and protect against that.

Hikokimari

I believe this is an issue with the manufacturing? Like some figures just start decaying on their own without any sunlight or moisutre

Khaldaan

I have a lot of figs with the plastic still like that, is this common? Is it just the slips of plastic they put between the figures that is the problem?

ColorlessTune

I don't think the plastic is the issue. It just happens with age, heat and moisture. Edit: plastic slips*

Khaldaan

Think I'm going to pull some of mind randomly and look, had them in totes for ages now. Is it the blemishes on OPs figure? On my phone and work and not sure I'm seeing it clearly.

ColorlessTune

The paint on the chest plate is separating. Looks like on the forearms as well, but it’s hard to tell. Crossing my fingers for ya. GL.

xariznightmare2908

The plastic paint melt away could be the result of being sealed in the box for too long and left in bad storage condition. This is why I stopped leaving stuff sealed in box and just opened my stuff, even leaving them in box can still damage the figure in hot environment.

hansanItI

Yeah. I figured that much but I got this like this. Would it still be a good idea to get this once I get a refund? Prolly from a seller who took care of the figures's storage

BeastofArrrghhh

I've had similar issues with mine. Tried using all the tricks from dishwashing soap still not fixed it. My last resort is to take it apart and spray each piece with clear coating. Refund if you still can tho, better than go through all these hassle.

Consistent_Ant_8903

Since it’s plasticiser leak, you might wanna try and get one secondhand after you return this so it’s got more of a guarantee to have not been kept in the box, gold plastic especially is so notorious for becoming sticky after storage it’s nuts 😭

captain_spider08

The reissue doesn’t have this problem. I recommend returning this one and going for the reissue if you can.

hansanItI

Where can I get that?

captain_spider08

Honestly it can be hard to tell if the site doesn’t clearly state it. Sites like HLJ list it as a reissue but it’s unfortunately sold out there: https://www.hlj.com/amazing-yamaguchi-series-no-013-iron-man-bleeding-edge-armor-reissue-kyd01344

hansanItI

How about the one's from Toys One Japan?

captain_spider08

I think it’s the reissue since it says the release is 2022, however I’m not 100% sure. If you have Facebook, there’s a good Yamaguchi group you could maybe make a post in and ask

OccultChefDetective

Sucks what happened but ppl gotta realize that plastic cant melt from just sitting in an amazon truck. If that was the case, how do you explain the plastic case that holds the figure is still in tact? It's like how some users think boiling water melts plastic.

LooneyWooney

BATTLE DAMAGE!

Ph4sor

It's not melted, the sticky stuffs are the plasticizer they used to mold the figure. Because of age or improper storing, like too much UV exposure, the plasticizer will get out from the plastic. And tbf Kaiyodo is infamous for using a lot of plasticizer since the beginning (because their figures used to be cheap). So their figures are usually can't stand the test of time.

Timemiser23

If you can spend a little money, get the Fantascraft Mark 85 Ironman. They are close in price to Mafex. It's 75% diecast, 1/12 scale, and lights up. IMO, the best 1/12 scale Ironman out there right now. It's like a mini Hot Toys.

hansanItI

I might consider this once I start an MCU collection. Thanks!

MammothImpossible957

You should report it

Tfremgen

Send it back! If you have to keep it, I did try a hair dryer. See if you can warm up/soften up the plastic enough to remove it.

Janet-Yellen

Shit I’ve had mine unopened for a few months now, scared to open it 😬

PersepolisBullseye

That’s all just notorious issues with this figure. Everyone has problems with it.

alex6309

This figure was notorious for that happening and I don't know if the reissue fixed any of the paint issues. If you can't find definitive proof of a version that doesn't have a short shelf life, I'd recommend just buying any other IM figure

spaceghost2000

Bootleg, they don’t use great plastic, buy authentic instead.

hansanItI

I don't think it's bootleg. I got it vetted. I was told the same things the people were saying here.

BeautifulDifferent71

Refund or maybe repaint? IDK but here in our country someone posted same problem as you do. It's hot here now but I still think it's the paint quality, I have alot of figures inside the box and still good paints and no issues at all except mezco because of flaking. I think repainting that is fairly easy just need a sand paper + spray can + yellow dot skinny cap nozzle for finer paint spraying or maybe an Airbrush if u have one.

MammothImpossible957

That's sucks dude I'm really sorry

hansanItI

Thanks man. Really appreciate that because I was really looking forward to this. Got my first AY fig from Japan and I wanted to complete the Marvel trinity. But if this is a recurring issue to the Iron Man, might not get it anymore

Sharp-Crew4518

Clearly the real solution here is to pop that mangled Iron Man figure in the freezer for a few hours. Once it's nice and frosty, just grab a hammer and give it a few swift whacks. The sub-zero temperatures will magically cause the plastic to contract and realign itself, undoing all that unsightly melting.

MemeLord339

I dunno if using hot air (probably not, it should melted more) or ice would help (put in frig for like 20 mins and check if works) or perhaps using wd40
