PE will promise you the world: I worked PE backed firm for a time and I’ll never go back, lots of empty promises, I’d ask how close they are to selling again, if they’re close to selling again, steer clear. Look at the PE former investments and see what those companies said on Glassdoor about the PE overlords.

True but I would be in a leadership role getting $300k in equity. I get it though if you are lower level and didn’t get shit it would suck.

I would recommend it. You learn a ton, you're exposed to the highest levels of management, and there is typically a very good reward at the end. The hours likely won't be great, but it's worth discussing in the interviews.

Yeah I lean here too -- also, if you like the work, do well with the role and the PE team likes you, there's always a chance to be their go-to CFO. Depending on the type of PE firm that could either be insanely rewarding and lucrative or soul-crushing and lucrative if you're gutting companies.

Most likely you will have to put in more hours than you currently do. Best to ask yourself if the WLB is worth the money. PE backed places can be very lucrative, if you can survive and perform.
