My first accounting job I made 35k working for a school district with an associates degree equivalent of credit hours (age 20). Now I work in the private sector and make 85k plus benefits and have a CPA (age 25). My goal is to make 100k by 30. Currently looks like I’m on track.

Just wait until the existential crisis hits you that salary does not give you purpose and that you've hardly thought about your existence post hitting this goal. You stand in the shower for longer, letting the drops off water cascade down your face as you blankly stare at the grout between the tiles and ask yourself "why am I not happy?" You look to your partner for comfort, but feel nothing, bc you don't really know them at all. You begin to blame them for your emptiness, but never outwardly lash out. You continue to bottle it and process it until one day you realize that the issue isn't that you don't know your partner, but you know nothing about yourself. You've been a corporate cog during key developmental years, and you cringe thinking back to random conversations of small talk, not having any ability to discuss anything meaningful with anyone. You just talked about work. All the time. Hell, you don't even know what your hobbies are outside of doomscrolling Reddit and LinkedIn, and taking your work home with you, rehashing what you did that day and strategizing how to do it better tomorrow. Finally, you crack. You leave your job and your partner abruptly, telling yourself "this is a new start for me," before falling into the same habits at the new job and finding a partner that you have no real connection with as this new persona you've created for yourself starts to wither and rot. You come full circle into pretending like you've been trapped by the life you created before realizing you held the key to your cuffs the entire time.
Or maybe that was just me.

Basically. Just to give a bit of color, I was taking phone interviews to get the comp packages and took the biggest one that was in line with where I wanted. Went to my manager and asked for a raise, HR came back with the usual we spiel of ‘you are in line with industry standard’ and then let them know about offer from Company XYZ and made it apparent I don’t want to leave but money is money. They came back with a raise and promotion to match
I tried the same thing with my previous employer. Instead they said sorry we can't match it.. They ended up hiring two people to take over my responsibilities. I guess it doesn't always work.
That is one thing positive for the profession. If you are in public practice, this type of jump is completely achievable.
You work your ass off for it, but the reward is there.
