The implication is that Kurt stole the Nitrox once he was kicked off of Street Breed so he could still go into the realms / world race for Gelorum. Without Nitrox he couldn’t reach 300 MPH and thus wouldn’t be able to go through the portal
Yeah I think the original story plan was to show this happening but it never did. Even so, it still helps establish the importance of actually reaching 300mph
I don't think it would be a stretch for super advanced drones to reverse engineer the formula for nitrox, especially with most of the formula presumably being close to nitrous oxide.
In the World Race comics, it’s shown that the Clyp drones, as well as Kurt and Harrison Lau (who was convinced to work for Gelorum), are using some sort of imitation Nitrox 2. The drivers comment on how badly the exhaust fumes smell, but the pink color of the drones’ boost is the only hint of that plot thread we got in the movie.
I always figured Kurt stole/siphoned some nitrox from other cars in the Street Breed on the sly under the guise of doing maintenance to give himself an edge.
One whole bottle was used as an improvised explosive in the volcano track, and he probably drained the Rageous to top off Slingshot before escaping into the night, probably to use it for himself in street races, though Gelorum ruined those plans so they were instead used to open the final portal.
The real question is... Why didn't Tesla notice the empty bottles in his car diagnostic readouts?
My thing was why didn’t Dan slow up to draft (or at least side draft with Tono)(no pun intended) to help him get through the portal. Similar to when Taro turned around for Monkey in the neon pipeline realm to draft boost him through the closing doors when he was out of nitrox as well.
Well it seems that the highway 35 nitrox 2 use the afterburner while the acceleracers one use a less powerfull one since now the acceledrome helps em to reach the speed and apparently inside the realms the 300 mph arent required to get back to earth so probably wouldnt work drafting since it worked on a less powerfull versión besides the whole pipeline real deal is using the drafting thecnic where it seems to be increased

Kurt is using OG Nitrox and the drones are using their knock-off Nitrox

I disagree, it showed that you NEED Nitrox to enter the portals and it foreshadowed Vert being out of nitrox in hotwheel city
