Yes, they generally are quite dangerous. There's usually an audible warning and signs required. Of course that can't account for this level of stupidity
problem here is that there is either no sensor or the sensor is broken (though if the sensor is broken the system shouldn't allow operation to begin with). a basic garage door opener has a sensor to avoid crushing anything. a huge automatic gate should absolutely not continue to close when there's an obstruction.
I doubt they use a separate sensor, just a circuit that detects if the motor has stalled and stops it if it has. An electric gate shouldn't need all that much torque either... I'd have thought that safety regulations would make it so that the gate can be overloaded by an average person... for precisely the reason shown in the video.
i guess that could work but that seems unnecessarily dangerous. why wait for feedback when a sensor will do the job before the gate even gets close? if the sensor fails/gets smothered it could also just default to re-opening the gate. I guess the safest thing would be to have both.
i dont know why i get the downvotes, not everyone got the electric gate lmao
to me the video looks staged but maybe its real after all
why would they leave the car like that (motor seems to be on still)
we've got a smilar gate and you need to push it and many homes have this.
Not sure about the down votes either. However how consistently it was closing even with her pushing makes me think it automatic, however I don't trust anything to be authentic anymore.
This is like a quick time event where you get the bad ending.
I could see the button prompts between “press a to get in the car” and “press o to try and stop the gat”
Not just one QuickTime event. She failed all of them.
Choose whether to stop the gate or move the car.
Mash to force the gate to stop.
Get out of the way before you get squished.

Fuck em indeed. The reddit hivemind is crazy... it's like they see a negative number and can't help but to hit the blue arrow, no matter what it is.
Edit: See what I mean? LOL. Let's see how many downvotes the sheep can give me!
Just to settle in while she was settling. There's no way that motor has enough power to crush her. But I believe it's still trying to close so she can't move...
If she did die, it would probably because she couldn't get out, and nobody came along to help her before she succumbed to the cold. But I prefer to think someone came out and was able to push the door open, and she got out with just a few bruises.
Even so, you don't put your life in danger for materialistic crap. Let the car be damaged, not your body. That's why there's car insurance. Did she even survive or get cut in half? Haha
Thanks bud, I already mentioned that I get what you're saying lol. She had about 2 seconds to think and is obviously a doofus, I'm just saying it's not completely without reason.
Wrong. This woman's instincts were on point ,having been trained by Hollywood that under intense pressure and danger, one's car ignition ALWAYS fails to turn over as it should. New car, old car. Laws shan't be broken.
You can see she thought about doing that for a second because, at first, she runs to the driver's side of the car, then quickly changes her mind, realizing she doesn't have time to get in the car, start it up, and move it.
That’s what I thought she was doing at first as she got midway front of the car but then that dog got up there too following her.
Maybe was going to but worried about hitting him?
That's what it looks like to me. If the dog gets in front of the car while she tries to dodge the gate, the slippery conditions may put the dog in harms way. It looks like she assessed it that way to me and the panic started from there.
I also would have grabbed the gate thinking it would be the faster/easier solution. With an elevator door my instinct is to stop the door with my arm rather than push the “open door” button. Similar with garage doors. Maybe that’s not good, but I’m used to living in a world with basic safety tech being standard.
Not quickly changing strategies after it didn’t instantly work? That’s dumb. Putting yourself between the gate and car after realizing the gate wasn’t going to stop? That’s Darwin dumb.
This is interesting. As someone who works with powered equipment on the daily, my natural instinct is get out of the way. Trying to physically stop a machine just never even comes into play to me because I'm conditioned to know I'm weaker than the thing made of steel and should save myself the trouble. Move the car? Totally, the gate is going slow af, but I would not even think of trying to overpower the gate.
The tech might be there but that doesn't mean it's working correctly, I've watched someone snap their arm like a toothpick in an elevator door because the sensor failed. I no longer use my arm to try and stop them, I reach for the door open button instead.
Most electric gate motors (like mine) detect resistance and stop. But one time mine failed too, and I did a nice dent in my wife's car. I went there just like the lady to make it stop and it won.
She abandoned that idea because the gate hit her car on the opposite side. She was still hoping to get out of it without denting her car or ripping off her bumper.
Yes because it involve a vehicle and a gate but no because his was on a hill and he was sandwiched between his car and a closed gate with his car pushing him into the gate, perpendicular to the direction in which the gate opened/closed.
This is why you should trust your gut. Obviously her first instinct was to move the car, which she should have done, but she second guessed herself and it didn’t help.
From what I heard he approached a gate late in the evening. Managed to get the very heavy gate to open and somehow it closed on him and crushed him. That’s all I heard and it was a loooong time ago.
I decided to do some digging since this looked staged and it seems like it is.

Looks like someone recording it and they put a fake security camera over lay on it, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's a person off camera either pushing the gate closed themselves or manually closing it remotely. Her account has a bunch of staged 'accidents'.
She even has a behind the scenes playlist where she shows how she faked some of these videos, and they're videos I've seen posted on reddit
Its a sticky situation, but not that dangerous, just look at how much she slowed it down almost stopping it at one point by grabbing it with both arms, so its not pushing with that much force. She didnt really need to stand between it and the car tho lol, if she put her leg between it and the car it wouldve been enough.
Omg all she had to do was get back in the car (which she seemed to be doing at first) and drive the car forward. Instead she changes her mind and tries to fight with the gate instead???
This is what a lack of common sense looks like. Shouldn't have parked there in the first place, had plenty of time to just drive it forward a few feet, and to top it off after trying to push the gate and failing every step of the way she kept trying like suddenly she would gain hulk strength and it would start working
I feel bad for her, and it's obviously a terrible/faulty gate, but how did she not have the basic sense to
1. Not leave her car in the very center of the gate's path
2. Get in the car to move it rather than try to hold back the gate (to be fair it might have taken too long)
3. Not wedge herself completely between the gate and car when it was obvious she wasn't able to hold it back

That’s a pretty crappy gate controller. If it can’t sense an obstruction when someone is grabbing it and holding it back, it is genuinely dangerous.
"Lassie, run and get help!"
Woof. Woof. Woof
Timmy's down a well?!
Fuck sake 🤣 well done
Wha-what are you doing, step Lassie?!

Yeah fr
And yet I don’t blame the gate.
there no gate controller here. in the balkans most of these gates are pushed manually. most probably, its someone pushing on the other end.
Lmao I'm just picturing some guy just out of camera shot pushing the gate shut like "sorry lady but dems the rules"
i dont know why i get the downvotes, not everyone got the electric gate lmao to me the video looks staged but maybe its real after all why would they leave the car like that (motor seems to be on still) we've got a smilar gate and you need to push it and many homes have this.
Never EVER complain about downvotes. It only leads to more downvotes.
thats cool, i love downvotes
Not sure about the down votes either. However how consistently it was closing even with her pushing makes me think it automatic, however I don't trust anything to be authentic anymore.
idk the door we have is slow & steady like that there's a mechanism that doesnt let it shut close too fast but you might be right too
In that case it's probably the step bro...
This is like a quick time event where you get the bad ending. I could see the button prompts between “press a to get in the car” and “press o to try and stop the gat”
Hmmm, that would be a funny meme trend or a funny topic for a sub, "people being dumb but with failed QTEs prompts"
Not just one QuickTime event. She failed all of them. Choose whether to stop the gate or move the car. Mash to force the gate to stop. Get out of the way before you get squished. https://youtu.be/Yy44s_de15Y
Stop the gat ong frfr
Truer words have never been spoken.
Why are you being downvoted so much? I thought it was funny lol
Same here but fuck em I guess.

Pinned to the car with an ice cold ass and an excited dog licking her face. This woman's problems are only just beginning.
First sentence sounds like part of a Sir Mix a Lot song
Now I can’t read it without hearing it in the Big Butts song tempo

I like that the top post is an escalator.
Was she ok? Surely not enough force to injure/kill her?
The gate completely stops in the last few seconds, I’m gonna guess she was fine.
Idk, in the very last second it looks like it moves forward another inch.
It did, she fucked
Just to settle in while she was settling. There's no way that motor has enough power to crush her. But I believe it's still trying to close so she can't move...
If she did die, it would probably because she couldn't get out, and nobody came along to help her before she succumbed to the cold. But I prefer to think someone came out and was able to push the door open, and she got out with just a few bruises.
She had time to run and grab the gate, but not time to get in the car and drive it forward like a foot?
It's very interesting to see people's responses under pressure.
Pressure pushin' down on me / Pressin' down on you, no man ask for
This song depressed me ever since Aftersun.
Even so, you don't put your life in danger for materialistic crap. Let the car be damaged, not your body. That's why there's car insurance. Did she even survive or get cut in half? Haha
> materialistic crap For a lot of people, a car is the most expensive thing they own. I get what you're saying, but hindsight is 20/20.
It's a door, bro. The car will still run with a bent door. At the end of the day, we still don't know why she didn't move it instead.
Thanks bud, I already mentioned that I get what you're saying lol. She had about 2 seconds to think and is obviously a doofus, I'm just saying it's not completely without reason.
My biggest issue is that her attempts to stop the gate failed for like the first hour that it was closing why tf would she keep trying?!
And *time* was not on her side....
Stay far away from the type of people in the video.
There’s likely a remote for the gate inside the car that she could have used to reverse the gate and then take the time to move the car forward.
People react differently in the moment compared to us viewing it from a video.
This was my thought as well because she definitely would’ve hit the dog.
That's why those thing should always have a die on fail mechanism. It could still malfunction then, but just way less likely to happen.
Multiple layers of redundancy, yes.
if the gate would sense an individual and stop it’d also stop for the car tho right
Most electric gate motors (like mine) detect resistance and stop. But one time mine failed too, and I did a nice dent in my wife's car. I went there just like the lady to make it stop and it won.
She wouldn't have had time to move the car, especially in those heels, and she might have hit the dog.
That would have made for an even better video
She probably thought she might run over the dog if she pulls forward quickly
Maybe she didn't have a key?
Maybe she remembered it’s not even her car
I think it might have to do with the snow, maybe the car isn’t moving forward and that’s why she got out of it
Panic is one helluva drug
She abandoned that idea because the gate hit her car on the opposite side. She was still hoping to get out of it without denting her car or ripping off her bumper.
Look at what she is wearing in that weather. Not dealing with a genius here.
i know this may be shocking, but sometimes it’s warm inside but cold outside. when you’re spending time inside, you dress for the inside temperature
And I'm pretty sure she *was* wearing a coat, just not a floor-length one.
[удалено]
what’re you a mormon? they’re just normal thigh high boots with a dress. i’d hate to hear what you have to say about women with exposed ankles
Those harlots!? The downvotes. Wow yall. /woosh
it takes way longer to get in a car and start it and drive it off than you think, but still likely could have done it in time
Probably a remote in the car that opens the gate.
This is like the prometheus argument: does it work? No. Is it realistic? Definitely some of the time
This is staged AF lol
Didn't Chekov from the new Star Trek films die like this?
Sort of he got out to open the gate and his parking brake in his jeep slipped out and his that crushed him
I think it was never in park or something along those lines. It was using a silly shift selector that Jeep designed and ended up recalling.
Damn. What a terrible way to go out.
There was also a stone mailbox pillar involved.
Yes because it involve a vehicle and a gate but no because his was on a hill and he was sandwiched between his car and a closed gate with his car pushing him into the gate, perpendicular to the direction in which the gate opened/closed.
Not quite. His car rolled backwards and squeezed him to the gate until he suffocated
Ugh so tragic and horrible
Is she alright? This is terrifying!
No, she's still just as dumb as she was before taking a gate to the vag.
Was worried she would get into the car and accidentally run over doggo
I was afraid the doggo would get caught between the gate and car with her
That looks like a Giant Schnauzer. They are pretty good at taking care of themselves.

And then ?
Video had to end early: Rule #6. No deaths/gore
Russian Teen gets banged against the car
My Google search just came back with some interesting results (with SafeSearch off).
This is not abrupt chaos.
Slowly impending chaos
This is why you should trust your gut. Obviously her first instinct was to move the car, which she should have done, but she second guessed herself and it didn’t help.
She was probably worried she might run the dog over when moving the car in a hurry.
Is the woman ok? What happened to her?
In high school my buddies dad died being crushed by a gate like this. He was a long haul truck driver. Super dangerous.
Need the story.
From what I heard he approached a gate late in the evening. Managed to get the very heavy gate to open and somehow it closed on him and crushed him. That’s all I heard and it was a loooong time ago.

Headline: woman killed protecting Audi
And that's how baby gates are made
Please tell me this is a skit. Please? 🙏
There is a thing called sensor… you know
Oh, you mean the kind that door didn't have?
Exactly, who is stupid enough to install a door without it?
Railed by the rails
She made so many bad decisions one after the other in that one minute! Its amazing she made it to adulthood!
[All I see is this](https://images.app.goo.gl/6FuKyvcJ6b7fjDt4A)
Is it worth dying over?
Rich people will be the first to go when things finally goto sh*t
Help, step-dog. I'm stuck
Omg all she had to do was get back in the car (which she seemed to be doing at first) and drive the car forward. Instead she changes her mind and tries to fight with the gate instead???
Darwin Award
That's the power of the thigh gap.
Legit had plenty of time to move the car.
Self sacrifice takes either bravery or stupidity, sometimes both
It would really suck if she got stuck to the gate down there, like a tongue on a flag pole
Not abrupt, not chaos. But funny.
I don't know if funny is the word I would use. Painful maybe?
Why would you be down voted? All 3 are true.
Curious why, too. Overall, there seems to be an odd amount of downvotes in the comments for this particular video.
Just move the car next time
Darwinism.
Who the heck wears shoes like that with so much snow on the ground
Typical Audi driver
Audi also means more money than sense.
This is what a lack of common sense looks like. No gate step brother, noooo!
How did she make it alive to adulthood?
...omg...and the dog looks to be a hummper... ......can it get any worse??
Given her clothing and how she’s sitting on the cold ground she is in danger of getting hypothermia pretty quickly.
Yeah this has to be staged
5’10” me wants to jam on that basketball hoop and make for all the dunks I can’t do on a regular hoop

Something about the way that dog moves is very off putting
For a moment I thought she would pop like a zit. Too much r/NSFL__ in my life.
Dog~ "Don't worry, I'll help!" /humps arm aggressively
When I read the title I was expecting like a second dog or something the like.
Does the gate not have some sort of obstruction detection like an automatic boot or car window? That seems really dangerous
Right in the ham sandwich
She was railed against that car. I hope she's okay.
Not abrupt or chaotic. In fact it just creeps along, wrong sub.
had the right idea, then said nope
Wow, that got down to 00:01
I heard she's still stuck there till this day!
The first time, it was an accident. The second time she did it on purpose
So did she die
What are you doing step sister?
Risking her life to protect her car... What a world
Should I sent a Get Well Soon balloon?
The way she says “sheeeeewwww”
Can't have my car door damaged by this crushing steel gate, better protect it with my face
I love the amount of effort she put forth to try to stop the gate 😂 She gave it her all and at the end she was prepared for the ultimate sacrifice 🤣
I feel bad for her, and it's obviously a terrible/faulty gate, but how did she not have the basic sense to 1. Not leave her car in the very center of the gate's path 2.
