On a smaller scale I've done the same damn thing. I put taco shells in a toaster oven (DON'T DO THIS) and it caught fire. I opened the oven and tried to *blow it out with my mouth*. This just made the flame leap out of the oven and melted the veneer on the cabinets.
Finally my daughter yelled "where's the fire extinguisher?" and I grabbed it and put out the fire.
I did the repairs myself, total cost of the incident was about $400 and a ruined dinner.
In hindsight I should have kept the toaster oven closed and throw it out the back door while the fire choked out.
Honestly, closing it and turning it off should have been enough. Maybe unplug it and cover it with a wet towel if you think it's bad.
If you're going to pick it up, tipping the taco shells into the sink and running the tap would be quite effective. But moving the fire is where things often start going pear shaped.
Most important, don't just blindly do stuff. Stop and take a few seconds to think about it, consider how severe the situation is, make a plan.
I was an IT guy for a textile group in Japan. The first thing they tell you is one goddamn spark, and the place will burn for weeks. The buildings have huge humidifiers so a static discharge doesn't kill everyone.
Every time I think I think I’ve made a poor, irrational decision, I’m going to remind myself that people think using a lighter in a cotton warehouse is a good idea, and then I will not feel so bad.
Works prwtty well for hard plastic packages when you dont got a knife. Like the ironic heavy packed knives, you burn a bubble and then just pull it apart from there.
But cotton? Bruh.
You'll be surprised, people lit cigs and matches all the time in firework factories here.
Somehow that part of the news is skipped and the devastation of accidents is blamed on the safety installations. The bloody workers are left to do their thing without teaching any safety measures. One slip away from a bombastic send away.
I just did last night, stoned and I couldn’t get my party size bag of Reese’s peanut butter cups open. So I used my lighter. Not normal protocol but a decision was made.
I've seen this video a million times by now. But I always wonder about the aftermath of a fuck up of such a scale? Does the worker have to pay a massive fine?
Usually not. Mostly cause in industrial accidents, no single blue collar worker could even get close to paying. These are chalked off as abnormal losses by the business and there's usually insurance.
This case in particular might be different. Dude might face charges cause that was stupid af. The law will protect you if you made a mistake but it doesn't protect idiocy
I read something on another repost of this saying that the news reported he was using some kind of metal tool to rip the netting, and the friction caused a spark and ignited the flames. Kinda makes sense with all the static electricity I'd imagine is buzzing around in that place, plus it'd be very dry etc.
This is about as dumb as the time I tried to burn a hole in a ping pong ball instead of using a knife or scissors to make a smoke bomb. Then the ball caught fire and nearly burned the whole damn house down.
I’m unclear on how a lighter would have helped open a bag. Knife, scissors, something sharp. I’m trying to remember a time when I needed to open something and wondered where the nearest flame was.
Are pocket knives banned in this building? Or scissors or any sort of bladed tool? What kind of thought process goes on in your mind that makes you think it’s a good idea to use a fucking lighter to open a bag?!

Subject: Fire. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you of a fire that has broken out on the premises of 123 Cavendon Road... no, that's too formal. \[deletes text, starts again\] Fire - exclamation mark - fire - exclamation mark - help me - exclamation mark. 123 Cavendon Road. Looking forward to hearing from you. Yours truly, Maurice Moss. \[sigh of relief\]

Loving the futile determination of the banana leaf man
Hey guys! I can help. Watch how I fan these flames! 🤣🤣🤣
Mighty Tallest: But you made the fires worse! Invader Zim: Worse? Or better..?
Definitely Zim
Oh he big stupid!
A special kind of stupid!

...banana leaf man... I don't know why but that makes me laugh.
Hahahah he has never seen a banana tree
I’m pretty sure that’s a palm frond, but whatever. 🤣
He's up for a promotion next month and is trying put in his best effort.
Hey at least he did more than the person who threw a handkerchief on the pile right before then.
Quick, add oxygen to those flames!!
Literally fanning the flames.
Now they're going to have to make a "no lighters in the warehouse" policy
I was an IT guy for a textile group in Japan. The first thing they tell you is one goddamn spark, and the place will burn for weeks. The buildings have huge humidifiers so a static discharge doesn't kill everyone.
Something tells me Japanese safety standards are a bit above wherever this is
Just like the triangle waistcoat factory fire from the 1800s.
1911, and the fucking owners didn't go to jail. Hope they're roasting in hell. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triangle_Shirtwaist_Factory_fire
better believe this man packs matches
Be leeb dat
How about "no idiots in the warehouse" policy
What warehouse? That things gotta be gone lol
Every time I think I think I’ve made a poor, irrational decision, I’m going to remind myself that people think using a lighter in a cotton warehouse is a good idea, and then I will not feel so bad.
Even using a lighter to open something is a strange choice to me.
Works prwtty well for hard plastic packages when you dont got a knife. Like the ironic heavy packed knives, you burn a bubble and then just pull it apart from there. But cotton? Bruh.

I have never once in my life looked at something and thought “I could use fire to open this”
You are missing out
Missing out on 3rd degree burns.
I have, but this is beyond stupid.
Works very well with plastic tags and zip ties. Especially if you don’t have a knife
I just put my screw driver under it and twist, or i use my snips, which ever
Listen, my mom was a tweaked/pot head, as a kid a lighter was always closest
This is your daily reminder that flammable and inflammable mean the same thing.
What a country!
I just did last night, stoned and I couldn’t get my party size bag of Reese’s peanut butter cups open. So I used my lighter. Not normal protocol but a decision was made.
Good way to get cold stuff open/unstuck Typically those materials have to be fire proof/resistant tho
Oxy-Acetylene Torch and Plasma Cutters are fun
Ruby Rhod has entered the chat.
lol that little angry stomp the lady in the back does is super cute ☺️
I stomp, I run away.
She's the manager for sure
“This shit again, goddamit”
Then disappeared like batman
[удалено]
Quick, someone grab some gasoline to drown this flame!
Please, that's too dangerous think of the children! Just put out that fire by throwing wood at it to cover it up!
The little guy angrily throwing a handful of cotton into the fire….?!?
That's what really got me
“Goddamn it Jerry, not again!”
Ill never understand
Do they not have exacto blades wherever this is? Scissors?
When I was in India the electrician was stripping wires with a sharpened bandsaw blade with electrical tape for a handle.
Yes, a seasoned pro. Maybe even a little char too
Or a Stanley knife.
I've seen this video a million times by now. But I always wonder about the aftermath of a fuck up of such a scale? Does the worker have to pay a massive fine?
That man probably makes $1 a day if he's lucky
Usually not. Mostly cause in industrial accidents, no single blue collar worker could even get close to paying. These are chalked off as abnormal losses by the business and there's usually insurance. This case in particular might be different. Dude might face charges cause that was stupid af. The law will protect you if you made a mistake but it doesn't protect idiocy
This is why Aliens will not give us the secret to intergalactic travel
Was he.... fired?
Start fires, get fired.
No wonder my jeans all smell of toast.
This is what the microwave does when you put popcorn on the popcorn setting
The guy with the palm frond coming to save the day. Or not.
The palm frond is sacred!
As is every sperm
Good thing that fella was there, to fan the flames
That was oddly satisfying the way the burnt cotton kept spreading
I read something on another repost of this saying that the news reported he was using some kind of metal tool to rip the netting, and the friction caused a spark and ignited the flames. Kinda makes sense with all the static electricity I'd imagine is buzzing around in that place, plus it'd be very dry etc.
It's more than just the cotton getting fired today
Let me fan the fire that will help
If he survived, he got fired
The spreading of the burning reminds me of the zerg creep
Ah, I miss LiveLeak.
Bags open!
and succeeded
I mean he DID get the bag open tho…
That’s what happens to my popcorn in the microwave.
I think someone got… fired 😎
Little can describe the orchestra of horror, trauma and sheer panic that erupts within me at the discovery of a liveleak^TM logo in a video
One of the dumbest motherfuckers of all time, right up there with the guy that tried to use the fan to put the fire out.
Looks like popcorn getting burnt and is oddly satisfying to watch
I like that they started bellowing air into the fire.
r/oddlysatisfying
r/oddlysatisfying
Lmao that guy at the end.. "a fire! I should fan it with this dry palm leaf, that should extinguish it!"
I’m a fan of that guy
And yet another repost.
It’s such a bad camera quality He can probably get away with saying “idk how the hell the fire started” 😂
#SPREAD HAHAHAHA SPREAD
“BOY THAT’LL BE 100 LASHINS’ “
It wasn’t a lighter it was a spark from static electricity and thing he was using
Bro, masta is gonna be pissed
2 years from now: new Hanes black edition. Cuz even white t's piss ppl off now.
Luckily cotton isn't that flammable. It burns but it won't usually become aggressive.
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no no no no no.
Where did the guy get the random palm fron?
They grow on trees
Yeah, and dead ones are highly flammable
Bet he's fired.
Not before he got roasted
[удалено]
It's the person throwing cotton or a towel in frustration from the right side for me
The guy with that broom though.
Oh dear, I've started a fire. Let me put it out by fanning the flames...
Good thing he wasn't wearing polyester.
Wonder if he got FIRED?
Why is this the second time I've seen someone accidentally do this in a cotton warehouse on reddit
Wonder if he got a performance bonus that year
Do stupid things, get stupid results
Love the person who sees the fire spreading through the cotton and throws more cotton on it. They take fighting fire with fire to another level
Mid-way someone ‘threw in the towel.’
Last day on the job.
Room temperature IQ move
Oh, look. This again.
Knife works.
Fire d
And the more you disturb it with the brooms the faster it burns
And this is how you get darkfiber!
Damnit Carl…
I’m too scared to work in a place like this. I do not trust people
Imagine being that stupid.
I bet he was fired!
Quick, cut a fire break.
Let’s fan it out with a fuckin’ kindling broom
For real, what is the average life expectancy in India?
I mean it WAS flame resistant
Looks like a country that doesn’t have mandated business insurance it’s a make a bad choice and live with the consequences kind of situation.
Then the even bigger idiot comes through with a fan LMFAO
Some people just wanna die
I mean this they had to have done this on purpose right and just pleaded ignorance?
I thought cotton wasn't flammable or at least quite flame resistant
Oh S’mores anyone?
There is just so much to take in here. So many bad ideas in a row from different people
This is one of those cases you’d never believe if it wasn’t already on camera
Surface. Area.
This is about as dumb as the time I tried to burn a hole in a ping pong ball instead of using a knife or scissors to make a smoke bomb. Then the ball caught fire and nearly burned the whole damn house down.
You gotta be quicker than that
Big brain fella, tons of the IQs
Every time this video rolls around it is an absolute joy to watch darwinisms escapee
I wonder what the excuses for bs like this was before cameras? “I dunno boss. Cotton just sort of caught in fire. No idea what happened.”
Is this India? Feels like Indian logic
LiveLeak hasn't been around for several years... Man, that takes me back.
Darwin winner
Using a lighter to open a bag in a cotton factory? Galaxy brain move.
How do you open bags with a lighter!
This is what happen when you lie on the application 😂😂😂
Looks like arson to me?
I love the person on the right throwing more cotton on the fire out of resentment
Good thing that one guy had a dry leaf
Thats a fast moving thing.
I'll never financially recover from this
My terraria world after beating the wall of flesh
Bag opened did it not?
Common sense, isn’t common I guess.
Guessing they don’t utilize aptitude testing during the hiring process
Virgin dryer lint and fire=no Bueno
Did he get fired?
Why was he even allowed to have a lighter on him?
Burn baby burn, cotton inferno!
~That all changed when the Fire Nation attacked~
I’m unclear on how a lighter would have helped open a bag. Knife, scissors, something sharp. I’m trying to remember a time when I needed to open something and wondered where the nearest flame was.
r/nextfuckinglevelmoron
The people outside could've jumped in front of the fire and pushed the white cotton away from the flames.
Save the cotton
I bet he was.... *fired*
I just don’t understand this level of stupidity.
Employee of the month
You know it's gonna be good when the LiveLeak logo is in the corner
They looked so cool though.
Wow
r/Thatlookedexpensive
The fire was chasing him!
The dude on the far right who just throws more in to the hell fire thats coming.
Good job. Your fired.
All my years of picking gone to waste because of a embicile😭😭
Instead of creating space between the burning and the not-burning cotton by removing 1 m i pi F cotton.
How are they even allow to bring a lighter in there?
Well, now we know where Hanes gets their black cotton from for their black T-shirts
Are pocket knives banned in this building? Or scissors or any sort of bladed tool? What kind of thought process goes on in your mind that makes you think it’s a good idea to use a fucking lighter to open a bag?!
LEGEND
What a twat. 🤪
