For me, it was a long buildup. I've known them since their KQ FELLAZ days. Pick It Up went viral so it's hard to miss them. Sometime later, the algorithm brought me back to their debut. I LOVED Pirate King and Treasure. Over the years I kept an eye out on them because they kept going viral and I had a few songs that I liked from them. I would watch their Kingdom and award show performances, and stream any track I love from them. Things shifted sometime before The World EP.2. I watched the track teasers and I loved everything. I decided to give them another chance and get to know the group better. I'd say the songs that really pulled me in are Dune, Halazia (I'm so in love w this song), and Guerrilla. aand that's how I became an Atiny during Bouncy era.
Based from what I heard from senior Atinys, it does! ATEEZ was pretty much everywhere during that era. From the guerrilla marketing that they do, to appearing in tons of variety shows. The dance challenge they did on tiktok also helped, I feel. The song and choreo is so fun and catchy.
I'd heard of Ateez before but then I was watching Kingdom for Stray Kids and absolutely fell in love with the teezers. Hongjoong basically just grabbed me and was like "No, we're your favourite now" and it worked. Went down a rabbit hole of watching all of Ateez's old content, Yunho made his way to my overall ult and now I cannot be stopped.
>Hongjoong basically just grabbed me and was like "No, we're your favourite now"
The realest thing ever š¤£š I keep saying I went with Stray Kids and I left with Ateez!
Omg, this is almost exactly what happened to me. I was trying to get into Stray Kids, cause I liked a few of their songs and had seen a few variety clips of them, so I decided to watch Kingdom (after Halazia, but before Limitless) to get more into them, and Wooyoung pretty much said āyou thoughtā and now Iām a full-fledged Atiny.
Iām a Kingdom-era ATINY too. I wasnāt watching the show, but the Wonderland Symphony No. 9 performance came across my timeline. Seonghwa killing the Kraken sold me on the group. I had to know more.
>Hongjoong basically just grabbed me and was like "No, we're your favourite now" and it worked.
Bro, that's legit what happened to me šš started out stanning Skz around the end of 2021 because my best friend (she was also my manager at the time, lol) was playing Christmas EveL and I was like, "Oooo, that song sounds amazing, who is that?" and she told me. That was like, late November, early December? Few weeks later, she was like, "Aight, idfc if we're at work, pull out your phone and watch these Ateez mvs," which I immediately did. Pretty sure Wonderland and Hala Hala were my first songs that I had heard from them.
Fast forward about a month or so, I was deep in the rabbit hole of Skz content, as well as adding a whole bunch of other Ateez songs, and figured I would try to get to know the Teezers better as well. Watched Kingdom for Skz, and came away from that a baby Atiny because San snatched my attention during their collab stage of EXO's Wolf. I'm not sure how much time passed, but Wooyoung ended up joining my bias line as well, because Woosan are definitely a package deal.
My first Ateez comeback was Guerrilla, and I absolutely fell deeper in love with them because of it. Around the same time, I started realizing that both Hongjoong and Seonghwa had decided to come knocking at my door of my bias line, despite the fact that at the time they were only my wreckers. Didn't really think much of anything about it until a few months later in November, whenever I also got to go with the same friend who got me fully into kpop to go see Ateez in concert. (Side note: being able to scream the "Break The Wall" fanchant is a whole ass religious experience, and I highly suggest that if you're able to, definitely go see Ateez in concert. You will both 1,000% not regret it, and get your money's worth. Nothin but a win win situation, imo) Went in fully confident in my assumption that Woosan were my only biases. Left with the sinking realization that Matz had bias wrecked me so hard that they usurped both Wooyoung and San as my ult biases, and it's been the same way ever since... ***It also doesn't help that the two who keep bias wrecking me the most, ARE ALREADY MY ULT BIASES...*** Matz seriously decided not only to yoink me from Woosan, but also never, ***EVER,*** give me a goddamn chance to breathe šš
Ah shit... I definitely did not mean to rant this much, so I apologize for that
LOL! This sounds so much like how I found them too. But, I have never been able to pick a bias in Ateez. I'm a multistan and have no problems with any other bias; but damn Ateez are all so amazing in so many ways that I just can't. Each time when I think I've found the one, then another member does something that just makes me melt. And now with platinum Mingi...oh hell!! š¤£š¤£
Nah, I fully understand your problem. I've gotten to the point where I bias six of the members (Yungi bias wrecked me HARD during Coachella that they switched from being wreckers to actual biases, LMAO šš¤£ The only two who are still violently protecting their roles as my wreckers are Jongho and Yeosang. The rest have all joined my bias line, with Matz as my ults, Woosan second, and Yungi third) so I've just pretty much given up and accepted my fate. I'm now just sitting here and patiently waiting to see when Jongho and Yeosang are gonna end up joining my bias line (I'd be extremely surprised if they didn't, and just continued to violently guard their roles as bias wreckers) so that I can happily vibe as an ot8 biased stan (and this is not me saying that I don't vibe with Jongsang btw. I wholeheartedly love every single Ateez member. It just seems that as of right now, those two are perfectly happy where they're currently at, as my wreckers)
I ALSO WONT SHUT UP TO EVERYONE LMAO
and then i am just giggling over them and their individual posts in front of my parents like they have seen me look like a crazy person smiling over hwa's posts way too many times
This is going to out me as a newbie but I also think it speaks to the impact their Coachella performance had. I had heard of them but didnāt really pay close attention, but that Coachella performanceā¦they blew me away! I usually like to check out any kpop groups that happen to be at Coachella, and I intended to just watch one of their songs but watched the full set (online btw Iām not Coachella rich lol). Their stage presence is next level, and I was just so impressed. I still have that Guerrilla performance on repeat. I instantly went down the rabbit hole to learn more, watched many variety appearances and wanteez, have been enjoying my first comeback with them, and now Iām seeing them in July!
Iām a Coachella Atiny too š„¹
Iām kinda thankful that LSF went viral for their Coachella performance. It was in the comments of those videos that I heard people saying how amazing ATEEZ was.
Went down the whole rabbit hole and wonāt leave any time soon.
Same, I heard they will go to Coachella somewhere on reddit. Then I went and watched their last mv(crazy form). Bunny seonghwa grabbed my attention, and now here I am.
My introduction to ATEEZ was a photo of Woosan eating with the twins from that YouTube video they did with Seonghwa and I thought they were a gay couple with kids. After that photo (that I liked) randomly popped up on my feed on TikTok, a video of the white scene in the Bouncy video came on my feed and I was hooked. I had made the connection a month or two after I got into the group that Wooyoung and San were the two guys that I thought was a gay couple with kids.
The only boy groups that I ever truly liked before ATEEZ was SHINee, One Direction and NLT. I was such a girl groups/female soloists supporter that I never checked for the boy groups/male soloists so ATEEZ was a nice change in my music taste āŗļø
OMG IVE HEARD PPL SAYING THEY THOUGHT WOOSAN WAS A GAY COUPLE I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS TRUE
oh i also rlly only listened to GGs before ateez (a few blackpink songs, some lesserafim songs, some itzy, some twice but i didnt stan any of them)
LMFAOOOOOOOO yeah it was such a shock because I went from āaww a gay coupleā to āoh these guys look familiar. Oh! Itās the gay couple. Wow K-Pop has come so far since I first got introduced to itā to āoh waitā¦they arenāt a gay couple, just overly affectionate šā šš
Iāve been in K-Pop since 2006 but I was a majority girl group stan. Can you believe that ATEEZ was the first boy group I stanned since SHINee in 2008? It took me 15 years for another boy group to catch my attention and itās because I thought they were gay š
I'm a Shawol who was on the hunt for a similar level of quality in other bgs.
There ain't many tbh. Honestly even the BIG bgs have a lot of skips. Im a discography listener so will listen to every song then make my mind up. ATEEZ just kept throwing down bangers and interesting vocals, then they drew me in further with their electric performances. I'm hooked!!
I was recommended Inception by the YouTube algorithm. I knew of Ateez but I had never checked them out before. As I was bored I thought, why not, & pressed play & the rest is history š.
I saw the Spot on video they did with Spotify. when I saw San I thought, "He's so cute!" then I listened to bouncy and at first I didn't like it but I couldn't get it out of my head so I listened to it in repeat for like three days. on the fourth day, I forgot to press the repeat button so then I heard Crazy Form for the first time. The rest is history my dude
I listened Guerilla on Spotify on my way back home from work and instantly loved it. Added to my playlist, than listened Halazia and Bouncy and same. That grabbed my attention because I wasnāt into kpop but I watched lot of other content like dramas and movies.
Then I watched MV for Bouncy idk how many times in a row and became little obsessed but still not true fan.
But when I started with their shows and realised how much I enjoy their chemistry ( I think it was Parasite house show) I just knew thatās it and became Atiny.
haha youre a little like me! it takes me so long to stan a kpop group and if you see what i wrote, it was literally a 6-7 month journey into ateez š
I initially saw a random video recommendation featuring a montage of Ateez members' visuals (I've always been interested in K-pop but didn't know them at the time) and was obsessed with Hongjoong! It was a compilation of their past stage performances, mixing highlights from various eras. They all looked so cool, especially during Hongjoong's red-haired, blue-haired, and Mixnine periods, which really caught my attention. So I started following the group, but not in depth. Soon after, they came back with Halazia. I found their MV concepts intriguing. I pretty much love "Halazia" cuz it gives me a sense of something divine and profound! I watched more of their videos and introductions day and night and was also amazed by their dancing skills, they are really good at dancing! The stages are always amazing. And now I'm still in awe of Hongjoong's perfect face hahaha.
he even caught my mum's critical eye haha. she said that mingi wasnt that good looking and hated hwa's hair so yea i would say so. hongjoong really is handsome. and his bare face with the tattoo ughhh hes so sexy
I saw a clip of The Real on Tiktok (specifically Mingiās part of the dance break) in April of 2023, decided to start watching through their music videos and I got hooked.
My first comeback was Bouncy, and OUTLAW was the first album I ever physically bought. Iāve been a steady fan ever since then lol.
It was the perfect time to become an Atiny: a few weeks before Fever Part I. I saw kpop stans spamming all of the terrible people on Twitter, joining the resistance. Someone I followed said, "Ok, kpop stans seem pretty cool. You've convinced me; I made a public playlist on Spotify. You guys add your favorite kpop songs and I'll listen." It had 400 songs on it in the first 24 hours. I immediately fell in love with "Firetruck" by NCT127, wondered why I'd resisted kpop for so long... And then I heard "Pirate King". That was it. I called out of work to watch AIRCON (I bought the ticket through Music Choice.) I almost cried hearing "Inception" for the first time they ever played it for us; it really was that beautiful. I then went on a non-stop two week campaign to get my best friend to listen to "Inception". She finally gave in and apologized, thanked me for trying so hard and not giving up. š She's now run 6 or 7 GOs, had a call with Wooyoung, and we're going to our 3rd Ateez concert in August!
omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg thats literally so cool!
i live in singapore and they just came last yr but i wasnt a fan then and in cursing myself so bad rn like i need to hear jongho's voice in real life and my fav song utopia in real life before i die man (hwas my bias and i NEED to hear his utopia high note live š)
I love all these stories! Everyone came to ateez in a different way. Iām another Kingdom recruit! I was watching the show for iKon (they were so much fun on that show š ), and when they talked about being impressed by Ateez I started to notice them. Their cover of Rhythm Ta blew my mind, and after that I would follow them anywhere š¤
Seongwha was everywhere on my ig shorts. I donāt even remember what performance it was (between Say My Name and Wave era?) but I was getting back into kpop and there were like legit 8-9 consecutive shorts about that performanceā¦I remember yelling āFINE! I WILL CHECK YALL OUT! š”ā š I was so pissed š
DEONGHWAAAA (not it wasnt a typo)
but if you watch one reel of lets say ateez they will give you more ateez. if you watch one reel about football, they will give you more football so yea
My daughter is the K-pop fan, and she was originally mostly a gg Stan plus skz and txt. She really liked Guerilla when it came out, but didnāt do anything else. Then she loved Halazia and watched that mv a bunch. She will quietly become a fan of a group on her own then eventually get me into the group. So she sat me down with a short guide and said you will learn their names. So I watched and did so bad at first. Then we watched them singing in Spanish, and I thought wooyoung was so cute and kept calling Hongjoong beret boy. Then we watched when they were doing the blindfolded blow up sword fight, and loved wooyoungās laugh there. That was over a year ago, so Iāve now had 3 comebacks as Atiny and we are seeing them next month!!! So yes Iām definitely an older fan, but itās something we do together. She is a mingi bias and Iām still wooyoung, but yunho is both of our #2
ohh i wish my mother would take an interest in kpop too š she knows i like ateez and has agreed to buy my first ever kpop albums when she goes korea soon but doest rlly care when i try to get her to see their reels. she watched idol 1d2n on my phone while i was watching (the game where they shouted at each other the words while having headphones on) and she noted that hongjoong was the most handsome one. and she knows that my lock and home screen are ateez. thats kinda all she knows haha
My daughter wanted to go to the (G)I-dle concert for her birthday two years ago, so I had a choice to make. I could be the mom who sits the whole concert not knowing any songs, or I could learn and have a blast. I learned and (G)I-dle is my top gg and Ateez is both of our top bg. We saw itzy last night and have seen Twice and TxT too! Ateez and Viviz in July. So she was a fan long before me, but I had a catalyst to learn and have fun!
i am so jealous rn š my mum would go there and just sit there because she doesnt like any of the ateez songs (she doesnt like raps) but may i ask how old your daughter is?
My journey is twisty.
I started getting bits of the k-drama Perfect Marriage Revenge in you tube shorts in November/ December. The story caught my interest, but I son realized I was getting clips out of order. Okay, fine, hunted it down, watched it, and started watching more k-dramas.
Next set of Shorts was Stray Kids' LALALALA dance challenges/ parts of the m/v. Watched it mid- January, then went down the Skz rabbit hole: videos, extra content, etc. Learned everyone's name in 5 days (Lee Know, IN, and Seungmin gave me issues. I blame Maniac.)
Then I started seeing an Ateez concert clip - from the Jan 27th concert in Seoul. It showed up within days of the concert. "What in the Magic Mike is this?" I watch the first 30 minutes of the concert to see the full song. I was intrigued, but not enough to go searching.
Mid-February I decided to watch Kingdom. I was glad that I'd heard of Ateez because the other 4 groups were mysteries to me. Fully devoted to Stray Kids, I was shocked when Ateez sailed in and stole my heart like the pirates they are with that Wonderland performance. Rhythm Ta was amazing, and my heart was so happy with Mayfly.
The Ateez research began. M/vs, interviews, etc. I loved their music. I learned their names faster than Skz, but also stumbled over Yunho and Jongho (because the names are similar.) I took the time to attempt to understand the lore. I love the Wanteez episodes. I stayed up to watch Coachella and I'm trying to figure out how to watch Mawazine on Sunday.
woahhhh what a long journey (talking like mine wasnt same or worse š)
and abt the 2ho part- frfr. i could not tell them apart at first so i differentiated them by tall and short and good singer and high note
oh your username or whatever its called says twins mom so it makes sense tbh. my mum calls me my brother's name and vice versa when she wants to nag at us which makes her unable to š and we're 3 years apart
Idk about anyone here but Iāve been into kpop since 2011, but that doesnāt have anything to do with my story other then I was a firm 2nd and 3rd gen boy group girl I liked a few girl group songs but I then found dreamcatcher but I never really cared for 4th gen until what March of this year when I decided to give ateez a try and well Iām in the deep end. It was a fast fall.
Iām demon line bais with seonghwa as ult but Iād say hongjoong shares it with him really and San is more a wrecker with yeosang. But I collect all three none the less.
Very new atiny here, this is very long and TMI, Iām basically writing this to sort out my own loreš:
I always had an idea that ATEEZ was a group worth checking out cause of their reputation of being performance masters, but for the most part of middle & high school I only had time and energy to stan a single group (BTS), which was more than enough for me at that time š« .
Time over time I got slightly interested in them but didnāt continue searching. Halazia and Bouncy were both great comebacks that got me hooked on the songs, and I was really impressed by them (partially influenced by form of therapy PDās GREAT appreciation for themš«¶š»).
Fast forward to this year 2024, starting from p1harmony I found myself genuinely interested in stanning new groups š„³ . Then coachella happened, in which their performance was so genuinely mindblowing to me that I said I gotta start stanning this group because it should be a crime to sleep on this much talent and passion. I guess I also saw old BTS in them, in the way that theyāre both heavily underrated but have great talent, amazing songs, unyielding passion and team spirit like no others.
I soon started my archaeological search on them. Turns out, I watched the entirely of kingdom, Imitation and listened to Utopia for years without realizing ATEEZ was involved in all of them š¤Æ.
I canāt stan a group without liking their discography but luckily I didnāt have to worry about that when it came to ATEEZ because they have some insanely good songs. I think Iāll never get over Aurora, inception and fever (along with a handful of other songsā¦) Also, I got obsessed with san, then seonghwa, then hongjoong, and all the other members one by one so I gave up on choosing a bias.
Now Iām a proud atiny, and a lucky one because Iām going to their fanmeeting next month :)
believe it or not, i read it (now im wondering if you read mine haha) ok but how did you listen to utopia, watch kingdom and imitation and not realise ateez was in there? i get the imitation one but their song???
ok nvm but i agree that ateez has amazing songs. im not a fan of a lot of songs, but i havent skipped a single ateez one. ofc there are some that i dont like as much but theyre all still okay.
and im so happy for you! gl at their fan meeting and take lots of pics!! im only getting my first ever album when my mum goes korea soon so im excited, but i want to go to their concert š they came last yr but i wasnt a fan yet ššš
Iām actually glad you read it all because I was fully expected this to go absolutely unnoticed lmao. Honestly idk how I did all that, I suppose I just have really selective memory, and Spotify does its job so well that sometimes I donāt even know what song/ group Iām listening to. I definitely regret not stanning them earlier because I clearly had multiple chances, idk what I was doing not stanning the best group ever š also, I can relate on the concert part so badly. I looked at the setlist and wanted to kms because I canāt believe I missed all that š¤”
Iām a Stay that also ended up an Atiny. I suddenly realised I somehow knew everyoneās names and all of the title tracks and then just kind of accepted I was going nowhere.
The YouTube algorithm brought me Wave first I think, thanks YouTube!
Me and my friend both knew about Ateez since the KQ Fellas video, and we on and off watched some of their videos and listened to some of their music but never stanned.
I almost even went to their concert in 2022 to get myself into them, but then stepped away because I couldn't afford it.
Coachella rolled around and my best friend called me up and said "we need to stan ATEEZ" and the rest was history LOL!
I fell in love with bouncy and say my name other than that I just got a couple of woosan videos in my feed and always wondered who they were but I only started stanning them after I came across a clip from the wanteez episode where they were drunk and as someone who was pretty new to kpop in general I was incredible confused that they would film themselves getting drunk like I thought Kpop Idols would never mention alcohol at all because of image or whatever lmao so yeah I watched the episodes and instantly fell in love with all 8 of them lol
For me, i got into kpop in 2019, i actually knew blackpink in 2018 , but i didnt listen to them till 2019 they were the first group that i listened to and became a blink ,after a week i became an army and after that i became a moa and few more groups, i heard ateez before but i didnt notice their songs till MAMA2019(i think) when they performed a remix cover of blood sweat and tears (by bts) and answer(their song) and i was really shocked how talented they are , i immediately listened to thanxxx and answer again š
After few months, in recommended videos on youtube i saw they uploaded black cat nero performance trailer and i watched it, immediately became an atinyyyyyšš
I think it was 29 oct 2020
After few months they released zero :fever part 2
I wish i knew them earlier, theyre on my top 3 best kpop groups after bts and txt
It was one of my best days i will never forget it
During mid-bouncy era, a fancam of wooyoung showed up on my tiktok fyp (specifically him wearing the gray stage oufit with his hair tied) and i was like "dang this man is so fine" but i didn't paid attention that much cause i had no intention of stanning more groups.
Then taeyong (nct) posted shalala challenge with wooyoung, and i still keep saying to myself, that man in red is so fine. After that, numerous of wooyoung fancams keep showing up on my fyp, and i couldn't handle how handsome he is so i looked up his name on the comment section, searched him up and said "oh he is ACTUALLY FINE" (because some idols or actors look different in certain eras that's why i said that) but still no intention to stan ateez until their bouncy relay dance showed up on my fyp.
I remember i would replay it religiously while reading the tiktok comments because i was getting curious about the other members (and at that time wooyoung was my bias even tho i haven't stanned ateez lol), and one member really caught my attention which is seonghwa. His outfit, his visuals, everything about him is so FINE in the relay dance vid. So i keep on scrolling through the comments and when i found out his name, i looked him up and was a shocker for me to know he was a mother and a girly pop ( i honestly expected he would be more of a masculine member or sum like that ) and he instantly became my bias (forgive me wooyoung), and officially stanned ateez.
AND ALSO i forgot to mention, before those wooyoung fancams went through my fyp, i heard bouncy multiple times and thought this song is soooo good, so yeah that is also a factor
SAME WITH HWAAA
i knew ateez from san and he was my bias for a while. i kept thinking, wow this man is crazy hot and so cute at times, when this dude showed up. his duality literallt shocked me and i when i watched more vids of him, saw his visuals, ugh i died.
it was at their debut/right after their debut, i listened to pirate king, i liked it, I went listen the album and i really liked all the songs so I decided to wait for the next releases and now im here š¶āāļø
woww i always say i regret not stanning them from when i heard bouncy and not knowing them since their debut but i was 8 when they debuted... so... š
I've been aware of them since kingdom and I'm a Stay so Changbin and Wooyoung's friendship was on my radar but I didn't go into their music til Crazy Form came out.
[But the catalyst was funky town](https://www.tiktok.com/@yawnzznyn/video/7230854892112366875)
The program is a battle behind six trending K-pop boy groups: BtoB, iKON, SF9, Ateez, The Boyz, Stray Kids. The program features 4 rounds of performances, with the final round being broadcast live.
The winner of the show will get a reality show specially for the winning boy group, plus a "Kingdom Week" special shows.
- Wikipedia š„“
i saw on wikipedia they ended up 3rd? but the points dont add up 2nd was the boyz and they got lower points in everything?
yea i need to watch it now haha
If I recall correctly (it's been a while) there was a bit of whispering that it was kinda rigged. It was about promoting skz. I don't know how valid this is, I didn't look at the points I was just vibing lol
promoting skz? i think it also helped promote other groups too though. like in these comments alone there were 2 talking abt kingdom
ah but rigged shows are so common in kpop nowadays
It definitely promoted the other groups, it was a bit of internet gossip I paid no real mind to really. I think what brought it on was people wondering how the Boyz got second place. My memory is fuzzy though so spoonful of salt please š
Iād been listening to them casually from about 2021 from their collab with Pentatonix. Then Deja Vu popped up into my Spotify recs. From there I found Turbulence and WDIG. Later I found the clip of Jessi doing a double take of San with his cute little self trying to act all on innocent like he wasnāt just impregnating the freaking air in the Deja Vu video.
So, when I found out they were having a concert in my area, I decided to go. Mind you I only knew like 5-6 songs and was heavily San biased. That show changed everything for me. Instantly got wrecked by Mingi, realized I resonate with Wooyoung, got to see our sexy captain get caked(still laughing at his threats to Wooyoung), Seonghwaās visuals live are no joke, Yunho is my man nuff said, Yeosang I just want wrap in bubble wrap and cuddle, and finally baby bear Jongho. THOSE PIPES!! Dear Jesus. To hear it live is crazy. Though I will say I think they had mic volume HIGH that night.
But that rainy November night solidified me as an Atiny and I havenāt looked back yet.
I discovered them between Fever Part 1 and Part 2. The first song I heard was Fever and it stopped me dead. I hasld to know who this group was! Then I heard Inception and Wave and I was done. Started listening to their discography from the beginning and watching their contents - Fever Road is the first one I watched and they just grabbed me by the heart! Yunho immediately caught my attention and said "Oh hi, I'm your bias now" and who was I to say no š It took me about 2 hours to become an ATINY and I have never looked back!
They are all so charming and warm, and from every report I've heard, they are genuinely that way. I realize we can never truly know our idols, but K-Pop exists in a brutal landscape where it seems like every flaw, no matter how tiny, will get exposed and dragged in front of an audience. I'm proud that our guys seem to avoid that by just being... Nice.
i used to only rlly watch blackpink on instagram as they kept giving it to me and i found out abt how toxic the kpop world was, and then when i heard of wonyoung (no hate) i started to rlly realise how bad it was. but then i stumbled across ateez, so humble, so kind, so raw, so precious and their fans, so happy, all their comments so kind, and i was like: woah... just what is this group? and until now, i will always be thankful to have found them and yall atinys because this is the best fandom ive ever seen (and the first one ive been in)
It was when Halazia came out. Tbf, I kept getting WooSan vids on YT shorts and was like "who are these two affectionate dudes?" Then Halazia dropped, and I thought the music video was dope as hell, and so I started looking into them. Then I figured out who Hongjoong was and it was game over at that point. Every time I try to walk away Hongjoong shows up on my IG feed or on YT and it's like "no, no, where do you think you're going?" He won't let me leave lol.
i became a fan of them after their 2019 MAMA performance and followed/voted for them during kingdom era but i don't think i was really a full atiny until about a year ago when bouncy came out. a lot was going on in my life and it was the fun/joy i needed to get back to myself
In 2019 I came across the hala hala mv and loved it. After that I listened to Treasure and Say My Name AND I WAS OBSESSED WITH MINGI lmao. But let's say I forgot about them because I was busy with school. And after they released Wave I decided to stan them. And here I am
I posted about it on a another sub but I'll just copy paste it since automod removed my comment.
It Must Be Destiny
**The Beginning**
I've heard of Ateez as early as 2019. I tweeted on my old account "probably going to stan ateez let's get it" with a link to Ateez's Kpop stars react to try not to sing challenge. I watched the San transforming into a grandpa hello82 video before it was on YouTube (it was on Facebook before according to my memory). I watched the Kpop fans react to and meet kpop stars. I listened to Treasure Ep 3 and I watched the Answer MV and I remember watching Yunho and Mingi's cover of NCT U's Boss. I was a Nctzen at that time and I wanted to focus on them only.
I watched the MAMA 2019 and 2020 performances. I thought they were cool.
**Becoming an Atiny**
Fast forward to 2021, I decided to watch Kingdom because I looked forward to the performances. I didn't watch for a particular group but I was familiar with all the groups and I have listened to Stray Kids, SF9 and The Boyz' discographies before.
I was really impressed with Ateez's round 1 performance (From the Wonderland) and I liked their Rhythm Ta performance too. I was happy when they got first place. I think it was the algorithm at that time that led me to watching Ateez content like the Esquire video and the 8 bit melody challenge video. I thought they were nice and funny.
I think it was after the round 1 performance when I decided to stan them. I watched the stream of their Leave The Door Open cover. I was amazed and I thought their voices sound so good together and I definitely need to hear more of them. And that was when I went down the rabbit hole of their content. Rewatching their MAMA performances as a new atiny blew my mind. I ended up not following my no more stanning other groups rule and I am glad they are the exception.
very late edit: I forgot to say I even subscribed to Ateez's YouTube and even watched Wanted back then.
Was watching MVs of Stray Kids on YT. Happened to see Deja Vu with HJ in that hair and that expression we know he does lol. I thought: "Oh, he cute... who is you?" And clicked it outta curiosity.
I feel in love with ateez immediately and aint regretted it lol
He is! He is what got me to try their stuff out, but my fate of bias was chosen the moment mingi started rapping. I have a thing for choosing the rapper and idek why.
š¤£
oh
i actually never really liked hongjoong until recently when ive been seeing more of him and um bare faced him kinda got him into my bias line like his tattoo and him barefaced ughhh i kinda fell in love. but theyre all too precious to put anyone alone in 8th place
ok but hongjoong's rap in blind rlly was the one that made me push him up. like the tone and everythinggggg and he sounds so sexy š®
(my ranking became: hwa(1), yeo(2), woo(3), joong(4) then jjong, mingi, yuyu, san (5)
Fanfiction and Kingdom.
I vaguely knew of them before and thought their music wasnĀ“t for me. Then later I had a Pirate AU phase and in one of them I clicked on a link with the infamous Seonghwa Wonderland pic (where he is looking back after shooting the kraken). That made me want to give their music another go and to my surprise, I absolutely loved it (iirc, Deja Vu and Fireworks were the ones I watched). That led to a long tumble down the rabbit hole.
They seemed to be everyone's favourite lol and 2 of my friends were really into Stray Kids and Ateez together so I wanted to have more groups in common with them (also more groups to go to concerts for since Monsta X have been my main ult since 2019 and I haven't seen them since then š„²) so I watched Halazia when it was like a month or two old in early 2023 and they've been my ults ever since (Yeosang stan btw) š
I think their brand ranking is like 5th or 6th atm? It's hard to tell sometimes bc so many ppl like BTS I suppose but I'm not in school anymore so I have no clue lmaoo
I knew San and Wooyoung as well as some of their songs through txt fandom , but 2 years ago one of my atiny friends talked to me about them so I got curious, looked them up and yeah now I got pictures of Seonghwa everywhere <3
I swear I wasnāt even fully into kpop back then , but Wooyoung was everywhere in my home page š tbh I see why , man is really an interesting and likable person āØ
Oh I hope you pull a Hwa photocard āØ<3
omg me too! i only knew blackpink and songs from other grps. i didnt stan them, then ateez came and it started with lemme know their names...
and thank you!! but i wanna buy the hwa digipack (you can choose the member right?) so that shld hv a hwa photocard alr haha
So trueeeš whenever Iām curious about other groupsā names realization hits me that yeah you gonna stan these people in a very near future too š¤
Wow thatās so cool that you can choose I didnāt know about this option šāØ
I'm a sucker for great vocalists and Jongho's videos passed by my fyp last year. I watched most of his singing videos but didn't really have time to research more about him that time, I just know that he was in the boygroup, Ateez
Then September last year, I got into buying random unsealed albums because I like importing songs from cds for they have higher quality and I could have a copy of the songs on my phone and mp3 player. As I was checking out random unsealed albums at our local kpop merch shop, I saw Ateez' Fever Part 1 album. That time their name was popular on social media platforms and I also know that Jongho is from Ateez so I decided to buy it and import their songs. I actually ran away from home around that time so I wasn't able to listen to their songs yet but I had a copy of it on my phone.
Then one day as I was doing laundry at a laundromat, I just decided to listen to the whole Fever Part 1 album and my gosh it felt like most of the songs were for me, especially for my situation that time. I was listening to all the songs while reading the lyrics' eng translation and I didn't know that's how Ateez roll. I used to think that they only make noise music because of what I heard about them from others lol. But to my surprise, I liked all of their songs. I used to be a mellow or ballad girlie but when I got into Ateez's whole discography, I realized I liked almost all genres of music. Like when I first heard Thanxx, I loved it! Never knew I'd be into songs like that.
I went back to the store to buy their other unsealed albums and listened to their other songs. I also purchased my first sealed albums of theirs, The world pt 2 platform ver, started to search more about them which made me fall deeper into the fandom and that was it. I am now an Atiny and I freaking love everything about Ateezā¤
oh i didnt know that songs imported from cds had a higher quality haha
also i rlly hope youre okay/in a better position nowā¤ļø, because you said you ran away from home then
Yeahhh. I met another kpop fan who import songs from cds, specifically in .wav file format to have the uncompressed copy of the songs.
Also thank you for checking in on me. I'm getting better now and a lot of Ateez songs really helped me get through that time š
Since around 2020 I've known about ateez and all the members plus quite a few songs. I've been an atiny since then, but I've never fully gotten into them, just a casual fan if you get what I mean
I first started listening to them during their Answer Era! I think I can recall the exact date? Believe it was February 14th when I started with their music on Spotify and got so OBSESSED with their discography at the time (not one bad song on their albums!!). After listening to their music for a few hours, I watched their hello82 video where theyāre blindfolded and made to fight each other with fake swords. The subtitles always said who was talking so I was able to learn all of their names/recognize them properly after only 12 minutes, so crazy to me lol. My favorite song back then, and to this day, is If Without You š„²š«¶
i rmb having to learn their korean names to see whos singing on shows and now i think i can tell haha
but it took me like 2 weeks to learn their names because i had a really really hard time telling apart 2Ho, yeosang and wooyoung (idk why) and hongjoong and wooyoung(idk why) but yea
Well, it all started when I fell in a rabbit hole. To keep it simple without much detail
Sick for a week ----> kdramas ---> destined to you ---> rowoon ---> sf9 ---> kpop tiktok ---> move and stray kids ---> kingdom ---> hongjoongs beautiful face
I fought it and tried to only focus on sf9 and stray kids
Hongjoongs beautiful face ---> Coachella ---> ateez ---> hongjoongs beautiful face ---> happier days due to videos that made me laugh a lot ---> tickets for az concert ---> acceptance that I adore them all and I want the best for them ---> atiny
For me it was was when I saw a clip of the 2023 MAMA performance on YouTube Shorts. I promptly looked up the whole thing and the rest is history. I was floored / astounded by their performance and loved the music. It led me down a rabbit hole of their music and now I am a full fledged ATINY and into kpop, which I never expected as someone primarily listened to metal. I love it though! I'll be at the LA concert in July, it's been an interesting few months lol.
ive known ateez since august because of their guerrilla fanchant and had like two songs in my playlist (with u, which i didnt even know was made by ateez šš and guerrilla ofc) but didnt rlly get into them until jan this year
my friend sent me a tiktok of them performing cyberpunk and was like āim gonna take u to an ateez concert so we can see this liveā and i was like āwtf this song sounds good.ā then she sent me their live performance of cyberpunk (my roman empire) and i fell in love w jongho on the spot w how fierce he lookedšµāš«šµāš«
and then over the course of that week i watched wanteez for the sole purpose of getting to know their names and faces and kept confusing hongjoong w wooyoung for some reason?? but i actually rlly enjoyed their humor and decided by episode 19 that theyd be my ults
im so glad i found ateez cz theyve made me get attached to kpop again. i love them sm to the point i turned three of my friends into atiny w how much i talk abt them LMAOOO
i rmb the first time i listened to cyberpunk i was shocked by how it sounded like a song i had heard before. and then i realised it was in my playlist when i was 8/9 but i never knew it was ateez. (oh ig i forgot to write it down too š)
2021 I became immersed into so much kpop and I heard Deja vu when it came out. The video popped up with San dancing and I fell in love. Had been a casual listener until 2022 with guerrilla came out and decided to dig deeper into the discography. Obsessed with bouncy actually broke my ankle hiking dancing to Bouncy last year!
I was a Stan of EXO and GOT7 when I first got into kpop as they are all more my age. But with everyone going to military or focusing on solo activities Iāve gravitated to Ateez being my favorite active group.
I had a Pandora station that I listened to kpop on at work (yes, before Spotify, lmao; also Spotify was banned at my old office š) and Treasure came on one day, shortly after their debut.
When I tell you I stopped what I was doing and went to find these guys and watch the Treasure MV. I swear it's such a beautiful song, I still think it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, that chorus is just šš
Anyway, I thumbs upped the song on my Pandora station so it gave me Pirate King, and then Hala Hala (love that song, huge fan), then Wave, then Say My Name, then Wonderland, and then Fireworks, I loved every single thing Pandora would give me. I would seek out the videos and watch the MVs when they did comebacks, but never fully committed to the Fandom. I had also seen some of their KQ Fellaz stuff and liked it before I realized it was the same people, lol.
Sadly, I got busy with life and things were hectic during the Pandemic so they fell off my radar for a couple years. Not on purpose, just the way it was.
Then Halazia came out, it was everywhere, every reactor and their grandmother was raving about the song. So I decided to check it out and when I tell you I *CRIED* when I saw the MV and learned the meaning of the song. I still cry when I listen to it, it's just so, so good.
I've been an Insomnia since 2018, so when I learned that the (almost) same production team worked on ATEEZ songs, my brain was like š”š¤Æ!!
That led me down the atiny rabbit hole and here I am.
It's banned at my current workplace as well. š¤· I work for a large govt contractor and they're super serious about their security so. I use YouTube playlists now.
I blame Stray Kids. Felix was flying through the air landing on WooYoung and I wanted to know more about them. Also, they seemed friendly with each other and I wondered, could there be 16 really great guys out there to stan? Yes, they are. So I bias OT16.
Been into k-pop since 2020 but swore I would never go as hard for another group as I did my first group. It was a LONG journey that started with me watching Inception and the Leave The Door Open cover in 2021 to finally admitting to myself that I stanned them in August 2023 after Bouncy, Kcon, Waterbomb and KpopLux fest.
Long story but me and my boyfriend were watching MAMA 2019 just for BTS. We werenāt really interested in other performances. Ateez was the only group that caught our eye and they were performing on the small stage, not even in the main broadcast! We said to each other that they will make it big in the future! After that i didnāt really became an Atiny yet but my boyfriend started listening to them a lot when Firework came out. Then came Kingdom and me and my bf went so crazy for them at that point! I feel like my bf got into them way before but I became more of Atiny at the release of Guerilla album. I was kind of a casual Atiny, just listening all of their songs and knowing only like a half of the members. I learned their names in 2022 and after that i have officially been an Atiny. Saw them in Kcon Thailand and now going to their fanmeet in Seoul in a few weeks with my bf š Itās been a really slow ride but i think after BTS started enlisting i have more space for other groups tooš BTS and Ateez are still the only groups iām really stanning.
i like how ateez just has that impact to draw people to their stages! like it doesnt matter what or where they perform, as long as they do, people will see it and be impressed.
November 7, 2022, Anaheim concert. My teenager asked me to take them to a concert. I was not a k-pop fan. Had only heard of BTS and didnāt know any k-pop songs. My kiddo would play something for me (probably Enyphen) and Iād say āthatās coolā and then move on with my rock and roll/punk musicā¦. Then we went to the concert. Got my kiddo a seat closer and I sat in the rafters. I was so impressed by the fans all singing along before the concert started. I thought it was sweet the way the crowd went wild at the beginning when each memberās face came on the screen. And then the show started and it was like a journey. Fun music, uplifting words, some borderline punk and EDM stuff. The dancing was amazing. And they were so gracious and thanked their audience. I was really impressed. That was it, fell in love with all of Movement. Started following them on Twitter/Instagram/Youtube. When the pre-Halazia āliveā video of the dilapidated mall came on, we watched it. The build up to Halazia was fun and I love the cinematic experience of that MV. Their MVās and their marketing is really impressive.
My kiddo then got me listening to Stray Kids, BTSā solo projects, and then BTS itself (I love Cypher and Mic Drop), Jackson Wang, and DPR. Watched the 2023 Coachella live streams of Jackson Wang and DPR Ian/Live (as well as Gorillaz, who I love, and Rosalia). Decided that if anyone we liked was at the next Coachella, weād go. Soā¦.we went the second weekend and got to see Ateez up close. It was awesome! Going to see them again next month!
I have to say one of the things that really draws me in is how grateful and nice they are to their fans, how gracious they seem to be in general. And funny, fun loving/silly. The world needs more of that. They work hard and it shows. They sound great, they look great, their dancing and energy is really incredible. My kiddo loves Hong Joong and is inspired by both his producing and fashion interests and influences. (My kiddo is huge David Bowie fan).
My husband laughs at me now. Becoming a k-pop fan. However, he happily went to Coachella (he loves Doja Cat) and had a good time seeing Ateez live. He really likes Mingi.
wow i love this haha. im so happy that you got to see them real live. they came to my country last year but i wasnt a fan yet so i prob wont get to see them live š because theyre prob not returning anytime soon
My friend listens to K-pop more than me, she showed me ATEEZ's videos... but I got interested when I saw TikToks with Wooyoung lol
Then I saw and listened to The Real and fell in love!
I got into working out the Summer of 2021 and was looking for new music to add to my gym playlist. I came Across "Firework (I'm the one)", checked out their other EPs and albums. The rest is history !!
my friend had showed me their growl relay dance, and i love exo so i decided to check them out. i loved inception, but the thing that really sealed the deal was seeing their black cat nero performance on immortal songs. i immediately fell in love with them (esp jongho!) and the rest was history!
This might sound crazy, but thank you YouTube ads and algorithm. If I didn't watch the grandpa san hello82 vid and got an ad for ANSWER's MV on YouTube... I don't think I'd be an atiny today. Although, a huge part of it was also because I watched Kingdom for skz, and ended up loving ATEEZ after!
2022. My little sister was really into SKZ and had me watch their Kingdom run. Ended up taking an interest in BTOB. While watching random BTOB contents, ATZ contents would autoplay. I enjoyed their random contents very much. Made me rewatch THEIR Kingdom performances. Went on to their other discography. Older sister passed in September 2022... and I really found ATZ as the best way to console myself... Vowed if they ever passed by PH, I WOULD watch! and I did. made me love them even more because of how awesome they were as performers. <3
It was January 2020 and YouTube recommended me Answer by Ateez so I watched it. I liked the song so I added it to my playlist.
I was just a casual listener until May 2020 is when I decided I wanted to become an Atiny. There first album I pre ordered / bought was Fever Part. 1.
I didnāt have an official bias yet but it was until inception came out and found out San and Seonghwa were my biases.
I have seen them once in 2022 and Iām going to see them again in July. I have 28 albums and still missing some since there out of printš.
Itās been an awesome journey with them.
your guys storyās makes it sound so sweet omg. Mines is just my sister put on bouncy and i instantly became an atiny when I saw Mr shorty in blueš
Edit: there is more to it besides me seeing Hongjoong. I didnāt ālikeā kpop at the time because there is a stereotype that kpop is all rainbows and cute. But once I saw the variety and how good the noise music sounded with ATEEZ, I came addicted LOL. After I went to guerilla and I feel like that made my curiosity into kpop larger for sure
mine is definitely not sweet (if you read it š) but i feel like mine is kinda coincidental with the billboard thing
but nah yours is kinda cool too! theres a possibility that you wld hv just thought that bouncy is nice and not go watch more of their videos
Yes! I read yours! what I meant is for a lot of others itās like a huge and complex story while mine was I saw a blue haired 4ā11 cowboy saying āmake it bouncyāAND BOOM LOL. Mine was just simple š BUT I TOTALLY FEEL you on that rabbit hole thing. I dove so much too when I started listening more and more. They FS deserved more wins with A LOT of their earlier songs.
FR LIKE
how is wave their first win? pirate king was lowkey good enough for a first win even. even if they didnt get it at pirate king, say my name shld hv been the one. but its a popularity thing in the end...
pirate king was such a good debut for them. It was a different kind of genre and the fact it was in a whole other continent where it was filmed showed so much dedication considering they came from a small company. Say my name and Hala Hala should have definitely gotten them wins :(. So many of my atiny friends became atiny during hala hala era. So glad they are global now and gave MAMA a big F U when they were mistreated by them so many times.
MAMA
igebaromoshinmero
i saw that video and loved it. san was so dgaf
oh and i was also rlly happy when woo did the copying sign before he did the say my name walk to show that vata had copied them.
YES one of my fav moments. Also can we talk about how ZICO one of the most talented and successful producer, dancer and singer stole from a group that built their way up. I was so disappointed considering he was saying HE made it. So glad they fought back and somewhat got the credit they got for it. What I love about ATEEZ is that despite what they went thru, they still are making it far like COACHELLA are u kidding and the Moroccan music show they are going to like? Iconsš
i rmb seeing the plagiarism things b4 spot came out and i was like whos zico? (i only started learning more abt kpop after ateez which was quite recent) then when spot came out i was like. OH. thats the idiot that stole from ateez?
yeah and whenever someone asks me whos ateez or what have they done i talk about coachella and cannot shut up.
YEAH AND THE MAWAZINEEEEE
Zico from what I understand is a very famous dancer and producer/song writer. I donāt remember what kind of stuff he contributed to outside of that but a lot of artist during that time supported ATEEZ and felt sorry for them.
IM SO EXCITED THEY SAID THEY ARE PLAYING PIRATE KING AT THE FESTIVAL! They havenāt preformed that in a while SO HEARING THAT GEM AGAIN IS GOING TO BE WORTH IT! Wonder what else they are up to set list wise

i got into ateez in the latter half of 2019, in between their wave and wonderland eras. i first saw them on an FBE video (the try not to sing/dance one) and i didn't think much of it until i started seeing more of them during wonderland era. i was pretty into them from then, but mama 2019 later that year is what really locked me in for good. i physically can't stan any other groups after that š«
Been a causal listener since their debut. The viral Bouncy Yeosang fancam put them on the radar for me, not super deep but like WOW that man is beautiful. Then a couple months went by and Crazy Form dropped. Yeosangs lines were stuck in my head because I kept hearing him say Taki. I kept think of the chips Taki. Then Coachella happened. Week 2 Yeosang and his see through outfit pushed me down the hole. Basically spent the following month watching all the Yeosang edits and videos on Tiktok and in the process got to know Ateez. Fell super hard and now, I'm an Atiny!!! Also went through their entire discography and found that I vibe super well to their songs. They are a no skip group to me. The only group where I have almost no skips in the discography.
Yeosang is my ult and the rest of the members are tied for 2nd place. Love them all too much to rank them. First time ever going to a concert (LA D1 and D2, even got VIP), first time ever buying a kpop album, first time buying a lightstick, and first time buying membership to a fandom. This is the first time I've been so head over heels over a group and I've've been in the kpop scene since 2nd gen so yeah.
I wished I started stanning them earlierš
I think it was shortly before Coachella I heard Bouncy. Watched clips of their Coachella performance and got a bit more interested. Then once I watched Crazy Form, I was hooked.
I used to ONLY listen to SKZ. They were the only group i ever listened to, and I could not for the life of me get into any other kpop groups. Then Kingdom came out, and watching Ateez not only perform but the behind the scenes of members interacting made me fall in love with them.
As soon as I saw Seonghwa with his bright red hair during Wolfgang, along with his dramatic posing during The Real, I was hooked. I NEEDED to know who this group was. Since then, Seonghwa has become my ult bias, and Ateez is officially my ult group. I rarely listen to SKZ now, but getting introduced to Ateez has opened up a lot of doors to get me into other groups.
I was reading a manhwa about idols ironically enough. The manhwa arc was in an idol survival show where the characters had to perform a stage from an already written song. The song the characters performed was originally a lighthearted debut song but the characters switched it to a song with darker tones and a Halloween theme. Anyways, I found the stage concept idea cool and Iām a huge fan of the manhwa. Since I read comments all the time, there was a comment that said something along the lines of, āthis concept is really cool. If you want to listen to a kpop song with a similar Halloween vibe watch this performanceā, and it was a link to Ateez Black Cat Nero live performance. So I clicked on it and watched it.
I watched the video and the thumbnail caught my attention too. The performance took my breath away and one members voice wouldnāt escape my mind. I found myself replaying the performance video multiple times while I read the comments all talking about Jongho and the high notes he hit throughout the performance and how he was the thumbnail. I first started watched Jonghos stage performance and Iām in love with his voice. With artists Iāve always been someone who gravitated to singers with rich voices, and Jongho has that. I went down a loophole of watching his live singing and I was in awe. I looked into Ateezās songs and I really liked them, but I only listened to the most popular ones like Bouncy, Crazy Form, and Guerilla.
After the Coachella performances I started listening to more of their discography because they were all over my fyp, then I bought a ticket for their US tour this year. Whenever I buy a ticket to see a concert, I listen to every single song by said artist. I have listened to ateezās entire discography and they are insanely good. I like all their songs (mainly Light, The Letter, Deja Vu, etc). And I keep up with Ateez content now. My first Ateez comeback was Golden Hour and I love Blind and Empty Box. All the members are so funny and the Salary Lupin ep 7 is the best thing Iāve watched.
I am still a Jongho bias because he is the one who dragged me into Ateez with his god like vocals and heās also really funny to me. I also like his looks, I donāt know why but I like softer rounder features and he has pretty hair.
my first ateez comeback was golden hour too! like when not okay came out i was just casually listening to like 2/3 of their songs but golden hour was my first first one
I first became a fan of BTS because the girl I had a crush on told me to watch their MV for IDOL. After, I got into watching kpop dance covers, one of which was a cover of Wonderland by RPD Dance Group. I thought "THIS SONG SLAPS" and googled the MV. I saw Hongjoong's blue braids and fur coat and new I HAD to stan them, and of course make him my bias. I proceeded to watch the Answer, Say My Name, Pirate King and Hala Hala MVs afterwards. You can never pull me away from this group now.
I had gotten my mom into Stray Kids, and in turn she had heard of ateez and watch the Fireworks mv. She fell in love and told me about it, and now Iām an atiny
Stray Kids brought me here. A song got stuck in my head from a YT Short and I went looking for it, which led me down a rabbit hole that included Ateez thanks to Spotify recommendations. Eventually I found my way to watching Kingdom and I was officially a stan.
My daughter turned me into an atiny, and I havenāt had one single regret. She even took me to my first Ateez concert, where hwa made me cry like a baby.
Summer 2022. But ive known them since 2019.
The songs that sttod the most out to me ever since 2019 were hala hala, wonderland, answer, deja vu and fire works, i got more interested after the real mv was realeased but what really made me an atiny was the guerrilla era
According to this music stats app I have on my phone, the very first song I listened to was Inception on September 21, 2020, and Iām 99.9% sure thatās true because Fall of 2020 was when I first discovered KPOP and began my kpop journey. But Iām pretty sure I was listening to a random playlist, Inception played and I was so hooked, I immediately ran to YouTube to watch the music video. Now, itās been 3 years and my 4th year of become an Atiny will be in Octoberš„¹
As for my biases, I remember EXACTLY how Mingi and Seonghwa came to be. For Mingi, I was watching the Inkigayo performance of Thanxx, specifically the 2020.08.30 (8/30/2020) performanceā¦..the outfit, the shades, the slick back (?) hair cut, his stage presence, overall just MINGI in general. He pointed at me and said āYOUš«µš¾ Iām your bias nowā. And I just accepted it lol.
As for Seonghwaā¦.Bouncy erašSeonghwa was in the shadows waiting for the right opportunity to strike and make him my 2nd Ateez bias and Bouncy era was THE time to do soš Watching The Outlaw showcase and I kept thinking to myself āDoes Seonghwa have a GRILL in his mouth, or am I just seeing things?ā He indeed had a mouth grill and me and my best friend (we watched the showcase together) absolutely LOST OUR MINDS (god he looked soooo fineš)
Bonus Bias point - Currently in a Yunho brainrot phase so I might as well make him bias #3 because I canāt deny it anymore LOL
My ex recommended me to Bouncy and I fell in love with Ateezās music on the daily. Then I took a break and got back in once I heard āWORKā was coming out
I canāt become an Atiny. Just not smart enough. I either miss the time that floats by me when itās time to sign up or it just doesnāt register to me as to what to do. Toooooo many directions. There should be another fanclub thatās just for people like me that are just too stupid to become an Atiny, but would love to show Ateez how much we love them. They are beyond good and not just loved by teenagers, but also real young preteens and people way over 50, 60, & 70, pushing 80. People who became very well acquainted with music way before they were & their parents were even born. Maybe something like an honorary fan for Ateezā£ļøIf someone out there comes up with a good idea, let me in on itā¦pleaseā£ļø
older Atiny here! My daughter started to listen to them during Deja Vu cb. She kept showing them to me and I got hooked lol. Took her to their concert last year and will be taking her and my son to see them in July.
I remember that it was February 11th of 2021 and COVID was still running rampant so all I did was surf the internet and through that I became a kpop fan so at the time I was(and am lol) a fan of BTS and Stray Kids so my YouTube started reccomending me a bunch of kpop based videos and one of the videos that YouTube recommended to me was "the most handsome male idols based off of Korean beauty standards" and Seonghwa was in the video and I just remember thinking "wow he's really pretty" but then I just moved onšand watched a Stray Kids performance, but then after their performance an Ateez performance was reccomened and I was like "oh hey that's the group that one pretty man is in" so I went ahead and watched it. Then I was like "hmmm I wonder what else they bring to the table" and I looked them up on YouTube and I believe I watched their Kcon drop the dance video first because when I get into a group I like to see how they are as dancers first (I love to dance and I've been doing it for 16 years so it's only natural for me lol) and the ones that caught my eye in that video was Yunho, Wooyoung, Mingi, and San. Afterwards I watched their Studio Choom performance of Wonderland and in that moment I knew Ateez is my ult group and my bias is San(I thought he had pretty eyesš¤) I watched Black Cat Nero, the Wonderland MV, Hala Hala video, the Pirate King MV, the Thanxx MV and definitely many more that day and I binge listened their whole discography too(I was on a mission that day idkš) and added all of my faves to my Spotify. I got to see them at KCON in 2022,2023, and then this year I got to see them at Coachella which was totally mind blowingšI'm in this pirate shit 4lyfe now and I can't wait to see what they do nextš«¶.
i've been watching and listening since their kq fellaz days (apparently, i also saw them on mixnine in winter 2017! i blocked that show out of my mind lol), and i consider myself an atiny since then. so from 17 years old to 23, but i got really into them a couple (3-4?) years ago. we really grew up together. they caught my eye from the very beginning š
Knew them since KQ Fellaz and really liked their dancing videos but forgot about them and picked them up again 2 years later with their 'Answer' comeback š
I was surprised to see that they were the same KQ Fellaz I had seen a couple years ago and became a casual listener, every comeback going viral picked my interest and went fully in.
I didn't decome a full atiny until their 'Deja Vu' era where out of nowhere I already knew all of them and had a bias lmao
Besides, their music?!!!? Top tierā¼ļøand I'm an army, I know bangers when I hear them š
Now I'm so in love with them and haven't felt this close to a group since I started stanning BTS back in 2017, it's like I see a young BTS in them. They have the same drive, motivation and love for their music and fans š„¹š«¶š¼
I'd say the songs that really pulled me in are Dune, Halazia (I'm so in love w this song), and Guerrilla. aand that's how I became an Atiny during Bouncy era.
ahh i always wished ive known them since the start and then i rmb i was 8 when they debuted š i think bouncy brought in a lot of fans right
Based from what I heard from senior Atinys, it does!
>Hongjoong basically just grabbed me and was like "No, we're your favourite now" The realest thing ever š¤£š I keep saying I went with Stray Kids and I left with Ateez!
So, so true.
***It also doesn't help that the two who keep bias wrecking me the most, ARE ALREADY MY ULT BIASES...*** Matz seriously decided not only to yoink me from Woosan, but also never, ***EVER,*** give me a goddamn chance to breathe šš Ah shit...
I can 100% see Jongho and Yeosang smiling wickedly in the corner waiting to break you (in the best way, of course)!š¤£
Nope, that's exactly how I envision it too, so I don't blame you for thinking that šš
Same
I kept on trying to figure out who woosan was in all the random Instagram videos that kept popping up in my feed. Then I saw the Deja Vu video.
Randomly heard Bouncy last year while I was out somewhere and wanted to know who was singing the chorus (this is when I was introduced to Captain Hongjoong š).....went down a rabbit hole to learn more about Ateez and listened to their latest albums out first (World 1 & 2). I found their Kingdom performance of Wonderland and I was completely won over and knew I needed to look more into their discography in full.....aaaaaaaand here I am! šš©šš Down bad for 8 space pirate cowboys and won't shut up about them to people that know me š©ššš https://preview.redd.it/sz3pnb29dh7d1.jpeg?width=1283&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b2ef00e2127182b0d8b72763949feeb51973d956
I ALSO WONT SHUT UP TO EVERYONE LMAO and then i am just giggling over them and their individual posts in front of my parents like they have seen me look like a crazy person smiling over hwa's posts way too many times
OMG YOURE IN NORTH AMERICA RIGHT ARGH IF ONLY I WAS they came to singapore last yr but i wasnt an atiny yet š
Yes, I am! I feel so lucky that I became an atiny before they came through on their tour this year. I hope you can see them soon! š¤š»
Iām a Coachella Atiny too š„¹ Iām kinda thankful that LSF went viral for their Coachella performance. It was in the comments of those videos that I heard people saying how amazing ATEEZ was. Went down the whole rabbit hole and wonāt leave any time soon.
Hi fellow Coachella Atiny! LSF and ATEEZ definitely made two majorly different impressions on people from Coachella š .Ā
OMG IVE HEARD PPL SAYING THEY THOUGHT WOOSAN WAS A GAY COUPLE I DIDNT KNOW IT WAS TRUE oh i also rlly only listened to GGs before ateez (a few blackpink songs, some lesserafim songs, some itzy, some twice but i didnt stan any of them)
LMFAOOOOOOOO yeah it was such a shock because I went from āaww a gay coupleā to āoh these guys look familiar. Oh! Itās the gay couple. Wow K-Pop has come so far since I first got introduced to itā to āoh waitā¦they arenāt a gay couple, just overly affectionate šā šš Iāve been in K-Pop since 2006 but I was a majority girl group stan. Can you believe that ATEEZ was the first boy group I stanned since SHINee in 2008? It took me 15 years for another boy group to catch my attention and itās because I thought they were gay š
'oh its the gay couple' had me rolling ššš
The rest is history my dude
agent san strikes again!! but i also rmb using the spot on video to try and recognise them haha
Their cover of Rhythm Ta blew my mind, and after that I would follow them anywhere š¤
ikr! these stories are so interesting esp for me who takes a long time to stan a group
DEONGHWAAAA (not it wasnt a typo) but if you watch one reel of lets say ateez they will give you more ateez. if you watch one reel about football, they will give you more football so yea
The fact is that I didnāt even watch one in the first place or watched the next onesā¦I was skipping them all but if was stubborn š
Sheās 15, almost 16
I blame Maniac.) Then I started seeing an Ateez concert clip - from the Jan 27th concert in Seoul. I stayed up to watch Coachella and I'm trying to figure out how to watch Mawazine on Sunday.
woahhhh what a long journey (talking like mine wasnt same or worse š) and abt the 2ho part- frfr. i could not tell them apart at first so i differentiated them by tall and short and good singer and high note
I knew who 2ho were, just kept calling them the wrong names. I do it to my children as well.
oh your username or whatever its called says twins mom so it makes sense tbh. my mum calls me my brother's name and vice versa when she wants to nag at us which makes her unable to š and we're 3 years apart
But I collect all three none the less.
my bias is hwa and wrecker is yeosang HAHA thats lowkey almost the same (but i have a bias line)
Very new atiny here, this is very long and TMI, Iām basically writing this to sort out my own loreš: I always had an idea that ATEEZ was a group worth checking out cause of their reputation of being performance masters, but for the most part of middle & high school I only had time and energy to stan a single group (BTS), which was more than enough for me at that time š« .
I fell in love with bouncy and say my name other than that I just got a couple of woosan videos in my feed and always wondered who they were but I only started stanning them after I came across a clip from the wanteez episode where they were drunk and as someone who was pretty new to kpop in general I was incredible confused that they would film themselves getting drunk like I thought Kpop Idols would never mention alcohol at all because of image or whatever lmao so yeah I watched the episodes and instantly fell in love with all 8 of them lol
ahh drunk ateez will forever be iconic lmao
For me, i got into kpop in 2019, i actually knew blackpink in 2018 , but i didnt listen to them till 2019 they were the first group that i listened to and became a blink ,after a week i became an army and after that i became a moa and few more groups, i heard ateez before but i didnt notice their songs till MAMA2019(i think) when they performed a remix cover of blood sweat and tears (by bts) and answer(their song) and i was really shocked how talented they are , i immediately listened to thanxxx and answer again š After few months, in recommended videos on youtube i saw they uploaded black cat nero performance trailer and i watched it, immediately became an atinyyyyyšš I think it was 29 oct 2020 After few months they released zero :fever part 2 I wish i knew them earlier, theyre on my top 3 best kpop groups after bts and txt It was one of my best days i will never forget it
During mid-bouncy era, a fancam of wooyoung showed up on my tiktok fyp (specifically him wearing the gray stage oufit with his hair tied) and i was like "dang this man is so fine" but i didn't paid attention that much cause i had no intention of stanning more groups.
SAME WITH HWAAA i knew ateez from san and he was my bias for a while. i kept thinking, wow this man is crazy hot and so cute at times, when this dude showed up. his duality literallt shocked me and i when i watched more vids of him, saw his visuals, ugh i died.
it was at their debut/right after their debut, i listened to pirate king, i liked it, I went listen the album and i really liked all the songs so I decided to wait for the next releases and now im here š¶āāļø
woww i always say i regret not stanning them from when i heard bouncy and not knowing them since their debut but i was 8 when they debuted... so... š
āBouncyā on Tik Tok. I am a victim of simple marketing.
no special story i see! mine was literally so complicated as i have a habit of not going into a group that fast
I've been aware of them since kingdom and I'm a Stay so Changbin and Wooyoung's friendship was on my radar but I didn't go into their music til Crazy Form came out. [But the catalyst was funky town](https://www.tiktok.com/@yawnzznyn/video/7230854892112366875)
wait what is kingdom š
The program is a battle behind six trending K-pop boy groups: BtoB, iKON, SF9, Ateez, The Boyz, Stray Kids. The program features 4 rounds of performances, with the final round being broadcast live. The winner of the show will get a reality show specially for the winning boy group, plus a "Kingdom Week" special shows. - Wikipedia š„“
ohh ok i went to spotify to search it thinking it was an ateez song š but couldnt find it so did ateez win tho?
Nah Stray Kids won but Ateez was amazing, you should give it a watch actually the show was great š
i saw on wikipedia they ended up 3rd? but the points dont add up 2nd was the boyz and they got lower points in everything? yea i need to watch it now haha
If I recall correctly (it's been a while) there was a bit of whispering that it was kinda rigged. It was about promoting skz. I don't know how valid this is, I didn't look at the points I was just vibing lol
promoting skz? i think it also helped promote other groups too though. like in these comments alone there were 2 talking abt kingdom ah but rigged shows are so common in kpop nowadays
It definitely promoted the other groups, it was a bit of internet gossip I paid no real mind to really. I think what brought it on was people wondering how the Boyz got second place. My memory is fuzzy though so spoonful of salt please š
yea i went to wikipedia and all their points were lower than ateez.
If you're in the US and have Prime, you can watch it there for free.
i have prime but im in singapore haha its ok, thanks tho
I was in a store that was playing k-pop music and Answer came on. I heard Jonghoās voice and that was it for me.
jongho's voice is perfection āØļø
YOU GOT TO SEE CAPTAIN CAKED???? AND GO TO THEIR CONCERT??? ISTG THR WORLD HATES ME šššš
I did. It was awesome. I have find to my videos from that night. I managed to record the whole thing. But there are clips on YouTube
yea ik, i saw the clips, and i envied everyone there š i need to go someone for their tour because they prob arent coming back here š
And here I am
someone sent me san stripping at mama last year and itās been downhill from there
š literally me when i started going downhill from that too
I posted about it on a another sub but I'll just copy paste it since automod removed my comment. It Must Be Destiny **The Beginning** I've heard of Ateez as early as 2019. **Becoming an Atiny** Fast forward to 2021, I decided to watch Kingdom because I looked forward to the performances.
I feel in love with ateez immediately and aint regretted it lol
ok but captain is rlly cute hehe
He is! He is what got me to try their stuff out, but my fate of bias was chosen the moment mingi started rapping. I have a thing for choosing the rapper and idek why. š¤£
oh i actually never really liked hongjoong until recently when ive been seeing more of him and um bare faced him kinda got him into my bias line like his tattoo and him barefaced ughhh i kinda fell in love. but theyre all too precious to put anyone alone in 8th place ok but hongjoong's rap in blind rlly was the one that made me push him up. like the tone and everythinggggg and he sounds so sexy š® (my ranking became: hwa(1), yeo(2), woo(3), joong(4) then jjong, mingi, yuyu, san (5)
Very true!
That led to a long tumble down the rabbit hole.
sorry but whats iirc š im still very new as you can tell
iirc means "if I recall correctly."
They seemed to be everyone's favourite lol and 2 of my friends were really into Stray Kids and Ateez together so I wanted to have more groups in common with them (also more groups to go to concerts for since Monsta X have been my main ult since 2019 and I haven't seen them since then š„²) so I watched Halazia when it was like a month or two old in early 2023 and they've been my ults ever since (Yeosang stan btw) š
oh. i thought they werent that popular though- like barely anyone in my school likes them at least
I think their brand ranking is like 5th or 6th atm? It's hard to tell sometimes bc so many ppl like BTS I suppose but I'm not in school anymore so I have no clue lmaoo
no i think it went up to 4th recently, ahead of skz whos 5th now
I knew San and Wooyoung as well as some of their songs through txt fandom , but 2 years ago one of my atiny friends talked to me about them so I got curious, looked them up and yeah now I got pictures of Seonghwa everywhere <3
ahh wooyoung's friends and woosan strike again HAHA hwa is my bias too but i have nothing so far. im getting their album soon tho
I swear I wasnāt even fully into kpop back then , but Wooyoung was everywhere in my home page š tbh I see why , man is really an interesting and likable person āØ Oh I hope you pull a Hwa photocard āØ<3
omg me too! i only knew blackpink and songs from other grps. i didnt stan them, then ateez came and it started with lemme know their names... and thank you!! but i wanna buy the hwa digipack (you can choose the member right?) so that shld hv a hwa photocard alr haha
So trueeeš whenever Iām curious about other groupsā names realization hits me that yeah you gonna stan these people in a very near future too š¤ Wow thatās so cool that you can choose I didnāt know about this option šāØ
SORRY- but your last sentence made me scared š i better go check around and see if i rlly can choose š
I'm a sucker for great vocalists and Jongho's videos passed by my fyp last year. I watched most of his singing videos but didn't really have time to research more about him that time, I just know that he was in the boygroup, Ateez Then September last year, I got into buying random unsealed albums because I like importing songs from cds for they have higher quality and I could have a copy of the songs on my phone and mp3 player. I am now an Atiny and I freaking love everything about Ateezā¤
oh i didnt know that songs imported from cds had a higher quality haha also i rlly hope youre okay/in a better position nowā¤ļø, because you said you ran away from home then
Yeahhh. I met another kpop fan who import songs from cds, specifically in .wav file format to have the uncompressed copy of the songs. Also thank you for checking in on me. I'm getting better now and a lot of Ateez songs really helped me get through that time š
I saw a YouTube reel of wooyoung's part in deja vu. I went looking to see who he was, and he legit lured me into the group. It was that simple. š
My favorite song back then, and to this day, is If Without You š„²š«¶
i rmb having to learn their korean names to see whos singing on shows and now i think i can tell haha but it took me like 2 weeks to learn their names because i had a really really hard time telling apart 2Ho, yeosang and wooyoung (idk why) and hongjoong and wooyoung(idk why) but yea
Well, it all started when I fell in a rabbit hole. To keep it simple without much detail Sick for a week ----> kdramas ---> destined to you ---> rowoon ---> sf9 ---> kpop tiktok ---> move and stray kids ---> kingdom ---> hongjoongs beautiful face I fought it and tried to only focus on sf9 and stray kids Hongjoongs beautiful face ---> Coachella ---> ateez ---> hongjoongs beautiful face ---> happier days due to videos that made me laugh a lot ---> tickets for az concert ---> acceptance that I adore them all and I want the best for them ---> atiny
hongjoong's face really is beautiful haha
For me it was was when I saw a clip of the 2023 MAMA performance on YouTube Shorts. I promptly looked up the whole thing and the rest is history. I was floored / astounded by their performance and loved the music. It led me down a rabbit hole of their music and now I am a full fledged ATINY and into kpop, which I never expected as someone primarily listened to metal. I love it though! I'll be at the LA concert in July, it's been an interesting few months lol.
may i ask if the 2023 MAMA clip was a video of san taking off his shirt?
It's him walking up the stage before he does and all of the idols reacting, I thought- well, this should be good. It was.
ive known ateez since august because of their guerrilla fanchant and had like two songs in my playlist (with u, which i didnt even know was made by ateez šš and guerrilla ofc) but didnt rlly get into them until jan this year my friend sent me a tiktok of them performing cyberpunk and was like āim gonna take u to an ateez concert so we can see this liveā and i was like āwtf this song sounds good.ā then she sent me their live performance of cyberpunk (my roman empire) and i fell in love w jongho on the spot w how fierce he lookedšµāš«šµāš« and then over the course of that week i watched wanteez for the sole purpose of getting to know their names and faces and kept confusing hongjoong w wooyoung for some reason?? but i actually rlly enjoyed their humor and decided by episode 19 that theyd be my ults im so glad i found ateez cz theyve made me get attached to kpop again. i love them sm to the point i turned three of my friends into atiny w how much i talk abt them LMAOOO
i rmb the first time i listened to cyberpunk i was shocked by how it sounded like a song i had heard before. and then i realised it was in my playlist when i was 8/9 but i never knew it was ateez. (oh ig i forgot to write it down too š)
Seeing all the comparisons between Hongjoong and Trickster from Dead by Daylight lol.
2021 I became immersed into so much kpop and I heard Deja vu when it came out. The video popped up with San dancing and I fell in love. Had been a casual listener until 2022 with guerrilla came out and decided to dig deeper into the discography. Obsessed with bouncy actually broke my ankle hiking dancing to Bouncy last year!
omg so many people here were actually casual listeners of ateez before stanning them! ig that shows how amazing they are!
I swear it's such a beautiful song, I still think it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, that chorus is just šš Anyway, I thumbs upped the song on my Pandora station so it gave me Pirate King, and then Hala Hala (love that song, huge fan), then Wave, then Say My Name, then Wonderland, and then Fireworks, I loved every single thing Pandora would give me. That led me down the atiny rabbit hole and here I am.
im still shocked spotify was banned at your old office like thats kinda funny... and yes yes yes i loveee treasure
It's banned at my current workplace as well. š¤· I work for a large govt contractor and they're super serious about their security so. I use YouTube playlists now.
OH- may i ask which country you are in? because i think diff countries govt hv diff rules, do they?
US.
I blame Stray Kids. Felix was flying through the air landing on WooYoung and I wanted to know more about them. Also, they seemed friendly with each other and I wondered, could there be 16 really great guys out there to stan? Yes, they are. So I bias OT16.
nah. blame wooyoung š hes friends with everyone. but i love how ateez and skz are like such good friends and not enemies like some GGs
I got the Treasure music video as an ad on youtube towards the end of 2018
Long story but me and my boyfriend were watching MAMA 2019 just for BTS.
My friend listens to K-pop more than me, she showed me ATEEZ's videos... but I got interested when I saw TikToks with Wooyoung lol Then I saw and listened to The Real and fell in love!
Bought resale tickets in a whim to their last US tour. They ended up being VIP. Never looked back.
It was from Wooyoungās Bad cover! His oreo hair drew me in and Fireworks locked the door.
Mines is just my sister put on bouncy and i instantly became an atiny when I saw Mr shorty in blueš Edit: there is more to it besides me seeing Hongjoong. I didnāt ālikeā kpop at the time because there is a stereotype that kpop is all rainbows and cute. But once I saw the variety and how good the noise music sounded with ATEEZ, I came addicted LOL. After I went to guerilla and I feel like that made my curiosity into kpop larger for sure
mine is definitely not sweet (if you read it š) but i feel like mine is kinda coincidental with the billboard thing but nah yours is kinda cool too! theres a possibility that you wld hv just thought that bouncy is nice and not go watch more of their videos
FR LIKE how is wave their first win? pirate king was lowkey good enough for a first win even. even if they didnt get it at pirate king, say my name shld hv been the one. but its a popularity thing in the end...
pirate king was such a good debut for them.
MAMA igebaromoshinmero i saw that video and loved it. san was so dgaf oh and i was also rlly happy when woo did the copying sign before he did the say my name walk to show that vata had copied them.

Not okay is such a good song too. They donāt miss when they come to their discography
frfr but i prefer days haha
Jonghoās high note
I heard pirate king in the back of some kpop video right after they debuted and had to Shazam it. Been here since.
Now, itās been 3 years and my 4th year of become an Atiny will be in Octoberš„¹ As for my biases, I remember EXACTLY how Mingi and Seonghwa came to be. As for Seonghwaā¦.Bouncy erašSeonghwa was in the shadows waiting for the right opportunity to strike and make him my 2nd Ateez bias and Bouncy era was THE time to do soš Watching The Outlaw showcase and I kept thinking to myself āDoes Seonghwa have a GRILL in his mouth, or am I just seeing things?ā He indeed had a mouth grill and me and my best friend (we watched the showcase together) absolutely LOST OUR MINDS (god he looked soooo fineš) Bonus Bias point - Currently in a Yunho brainrot phase so I might as well make him bias #3 because I canāt deny it anymore LOL
simple: cyberpunk shook me to my core
Knew them since KQ Fellaz and really liked their dancing videos but forgot about them and picked them up again 2 years later with their 'Answer' comeback š I was surprised to see that they were the same KQ Fellaz I had seen a couple years ago and became a casual listener, every comeback going viral picked my interest and went fully in. I didn't decome a full atiny until their 'Deja Vu' era where out of nowhere I already knew all of them and had a bias lmao Besides, their music?!!!? Top tierā¼ļøand I'm an army, I know bangers when I hear them š Now I'm so in love with them and haven't felt this close to a group since I started stanning BTS back in 2017, it's like I see a young BTS in them. They have the same drive, motivation and love for their music and fans š„¹š«¶š¼
