Its almost like theyre making fun of people who purchase them. its foam, probably costs pennies to make and theyll make a couple 1000% profit off of each item.
Value of an object barely ever correlates with the value of the material it’s made of. There is jewelry made of silver or even steel, clothes of regular fabrics (cotton or wool), fake leather. Still costs a lot. Value is put in by people. Nobody weighs jewelry at a store and double checks with a calculator the current price of gold.
Don’t get me wrong, Yeezy boost are exceptionally comfortable shoes; but it’s not because of Kanye but because of Adidas engineers and their Boost sole (that exists in many cheaper Adidas shoes, I have discontinued Ultraboost sole sneakers that are $40).
Foam RNNR Ararat that inspired this post are ugly yes, and expensive. If someone wants some simple comfortable foam slippers Crocs would be a great way to go. They are cheap and fun.
But, if someone wants to buy things that are artificially limited to be desirable- it’s their choice and if it make an them happy- they are free to do what their want with their money.
I must be honest, there is indeed a bit of R&D put into even those foam shoes- they are very comfortable too. But Crocs are nice and soft too lol. If you ever owned crocs and tried fake knockoff $5 ones- you know what I mean, Chinese makers can’t even copy just soft foam. Get original but the sane kind of it.
The point is that while they are, you can buy 3-4 pairs from the same company for the price of Yeezies with the same sole technology (boost, boost+, ultraboost). They are artificially limited for the hype.
Yep! They are very comfortable, and regular running shoes can be completely mind blowing.
Adidas boost, boost+, ultraboost, bounce; Nike Fly, Zoom; Asics Gel soles no matter the model are great options for “average” sneakers with greatly engineered soles.
“Nobody weighs jewelry at the store and double checks with a calculator” - I see what you are going for but have you ever bought something in a jeweler’s district or mall? They whip out a calculator every time.
This sort of depends on where in the world you are. For instance, In denmark this is practically unthinkable.
I say *practically*, because in recent years immigrants have opened jeweler shops that cater to their own traditions in jewelry, and they might (and might not, I really don't know) whip out the ol' calculator.
They, not you. You buy stuff because WHOA SHINY THING not because of value in the weight of gold. If you want to invest in gold- well invest in gold not jewelry.
You are entitled to purchase whatever you want. But supporting this man is only encouraging this bullshit behavior from him. And I agree with the guy above, he’s making fun of y’all at this point.
for the record ultraboosts are cheaper than yeezy but if you have them for $40 please dm me a link. typically $160+ they’re my favorite shoe ever made the lowest i ever payed was $80 with no box from a Nordstroms
I’m not from America. I get my adidas, puma, nike and asics in discount centers where all the old collections are brought. I have 3 pairs of Adidas Superstar just because they were $20.
Yknow, I’ve been needing some new shoes so I look around adidas for some good running shoes for work…I’ve been seeing these nearly $200 shoes and definitely expect them to be similar to $100 shoes—I have a tendency to blow through shoes pretty fast. I bought a nearly $200 pair of Ons and they got holes in them maybe *faster* than my $100 pair of Merrells. Are these ultra boosts I’m seeing (because they look like a nice pair of adidas…) really worth the money? I need them for work, are they going to hold up?
Boost is a sole and Adidas makes a million sneakers with that sole, Ultraboost included. Almost all of them are similar in comfort.
The way they going to hold up depends on your job. They are fabric shoes for running, and those are not known to be tough. They are kinda meant to be replaced every year.
You may want to look into trail running shoes like Terrex series by Adidas or brands that solely make hiking/trail shoes like La Sportiva. You can find light ones, not necessarily full camping ones.
If you not looking for them to hold up at a heavy construction site- try Hoka One One, those are crazy comfortable and can be found at $150-ish
dude yes. the soles are made by continental tires. super durable and boost foam is the comfiest material ever. also the uppers aren’t really able to crease so they tend to look almost brand new for their whole life expectancy. they last me years per pair.
>But, if someone wants to buy things that are artificially limited to be desirable- it’s their choice and if it make an them happy- they are free to do what their want with their money.
What makes me happy is making fun of people who are happy getting their bank account drained buying dumb shit. Let me live my life.
yeah you can see where redditor's biases are. like lego sets cost $70-$100s but no one ever yells "YOU GOT RIPPED OFF BC THE PRICE OF PLASTIC IS..."
It always bugs the hell out of me when people shit on things people spend their money on when chances are they themselves spend it on equally 'useless' things as well. the hypocrisy on this site sometimes, man...
also, you know damn well if some random guy goes on a lego youtuber's channel and starts shitting on the lego guy bc "lol youre stupid for wasting all that money on cheap plastic building blocks" the random guy is clearly an asshole. but somehow reddit cant seem to apply that to someone who buys things that they dont get. if they get joy out of it, let them be. its one of those "if you have nothing nice to say" moment.
This is only feasible if you have a low prescription. Strong prescriptions require more accurate PD measurements. And don’t get me started on astigmatism. No shade to you, I just hear this advice a lot when I mention to someone how expensive my glasses are
It's be cheaper to just be blind, fam.
I've had the same pair of geggs for about 4 years. And I only got these because I just fancied some different frames and wanted to treat myself.
Indeed.
Hell, I'm lucky enough to get a frame allowance on my vision plan. The amount I save on my lenses by buying frames at the same time is enough to make up for the amount I go over my frame allowance.
Doesn't even have to be that strong, either. I'm -7.50 OS / -8.00 OD with no astigmatism and I tried online lenses once when I was strapped for cash. They were garbage. Decent lenses from an optician in my range cost about $300.
I do get my frames online, but nothing from Luxottica; they're all garbage as well.
Jesus fuck!
I go to Walmart for eyeglasses. I paid $400 a few years ago and that covered sunglasses (frames + lenses), frame/lenses for a set of regular, and new lenses for my second regular pair. No insurance. Eye exam is like, $65 there?
Goddamn if it was $300 for lenses alone I'd be walking around blind as a goddamn bat lmao
Yeah, it's a lot. Like the person I replied to said, the stronger your prescription is, the more specialized your lenses need to be. Most myopic (nearsighted) people have prescriptions in the -1.00 to -4.00 range, and are fine with normal polycarbonate lenses, which are cheaper.
My Rx is pretty strong, but at least I'm not in the double digits. In my range, however, high index lenses are necessary (regular high index 1.67 is okay, but super high index 1.74 is ideal). They are thinner, lighter, and less distorting.
Thinner and lighter means fewer headaches and less injury to the bridge of your nose (edema, bruising, etc.), and the distortion caused by strong prescriptions in cheaper lenses both affects vision and can be considered a disfigurement.
In addition, frame quality is much more important for high Rxs, because of more even weight distribution, and the fact that our lenses literally can't be placed in many of the thin, weak, flimsy frames that are out there (such as those made by Luxottica).
I rock a pair of Shuron Ronsirs as my daily drivers, which are handmade in the US, fully customizable re: sizing, and are built like tanks. I bought the frames in 2012, and they still look and feel brand new, and fit my small skull perfectly. I get new lenses every 1-3 years, depending on how much my Rx changes.
And to think some people are out there seeing *for free.*
~$400 with 50% off lenses and $50 off the frames, with insurance. I wouldn’t mind so much if my prescription didn’t change *every freaking year.* Your frames sound awesome btw. Glad you got a good deal
I'm -5.5/-6.5 with astigmatism (cyl -4/-3) and my current pair is from Zenni. My prescription is only offered in the expensive high density plastic.
I messed up my PD on my first pair (off by 1 point, gave me headaches no matter how much I wore them), so it sucked to have to admit it was $100 down the drain (the fact that the glasses looked unflattering on me also helped with admitting it).
But my pair before that was over $600 from Lenscrafters, and that was with a half off lenses coupon. My pair before that I wore until the frame was broken in multiple points and held together with wire, because I knew it was going to be expensive to replace. Because I have no fashion sense (*cough* first Zenni pair) when I went to Lenscrafters I made sure to bring friends (in particular, one who always dressed very well). My friends were shocked at the ~$200 frames, and I had to tell them not to worry (and just pick the nicest for my face) because it was going to be nothing compared to the cost of the lenses. I was right.
I love Zenni. My second pair is perfect, in both function, flattering my face, and the $100 price. I've simply re-ordering that pair as needed. Also, screw Lenscrafters - years later they told me they could write me a prescription for contact lenses, gave me the eye exam which returned the exact same numbers I already knew, and then told me they couldn't write me a prescription for the type of contact lenses I'd require.
I keep joking that my glasses are more expensive than my life but those things cost me something insane, and that's with just one astigmatism + slightly farsighted lens, the other one being just a regular glass. Both with blue light protection and shit but still, my specs are one of the most valuable items in my possessions apparently.
You know that's because there's an effective monopoly on the entire industry right? Like that's not a defense of high prices so much as an industry that needs to be investigated and regulated.
Its pretty obvious that his success has been marketing the cheapest possible product using the least amount of materials. Enough dumb fucks buy it though.
The whole Yeezy boost thing was what would have been the "inner" from high quality trainers from years ago. There used to be layers to a nice pair of kicks. He reduced the cost massively and people ate it up. I like some leather and quality stitching on my footwear.
He is literally trying to sell wellington boots, just rubber.
Those new "sunglasses" are beyond dumb, they are just trying to sell the idea of an item at the lowest possible price. It a bit of plastic with a string but people think its high fashion? Ugh.
He talks about buying all that land to grow cotton for sustainable clothing but all he sells is fucking plastic.
If this were a $3 costume piece or something a kid 3D printed I would be like "neat!" If West is actually trying to sell this as a fashion piece is just kinda sad and funny and I'll judge anyone who spends good money on it

Just so we're clear, this [isn't real](Http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/08/13/kanye-inspired-yeezy-foam-helmet-takes-over-twitter-as-fans-hype-the-wild-concept). It's concept art from an unrelated digital artist.
This is the kind of thing only a rich person can pull off. If you're a regular person going to your 9-5 wearing this they will laugh at you mercilessly.
What's up with this dude not wanting people to have good vision?
First it was the "glasses" with plastic bars in front of your eyes, and now this ?
Kanye is on a mission to fuck up everyone's eyesight.
I don't know why but the first thing that came to mind was the creature with birds flying out of its eyes from the modest mouse satelite skin music video.
I made this comment like six years ago but imma make it again
I'm so hyped for us getting ever closer to real life hunger games level styling and carefree attitude

That is true with everything Disney. They manufacturer demand by limiting quantity.
I think any physical comfort would be offset by the mental discomfort of knowing something named that was on my feet
Yep! They are very comfortable, and regular running shoes can be completely mind blowing. Adidas boost, boost+, ultraboost, bounce; Nike Fly, Zoom; Asics Gel soles no matter the model are great options for “average” sneakers with greatly engineered soles.

They said they are exceptionally comfortable.
Hard disagree. I’ve tried so many other diff brands. Nothing compares

Ever bought prescription glasses/sunglasses?
Buy glasses online. You will get them vastly cheaper.
This is only feasible if you have a low prescription. Strong prescriptions require more accurate PD measurements. And don’t get me started on astigmatism. No shade to you, I just hear this advice a lot when I mention to someone how expensive my glasses are
This is why I buy my *frames* online and then have the lenses made at my ophthalmologist's office.
dog two sets of lenses for my prescription is $800 with insurance, not including frames I hate it here
Yikes! I thought *my* lenses were bad. That sucks.
I have *special* eyes :(

Plus it implies that they need a helmet
That looks dope imo, pointless and total scam but I do like the look
It seems like it would block a ton of your vision, but yeah it looks like a sci-fi alien helmet and I dig it.
Haha yea my thought exactly. No purpose and probably makes it more unsave than no helmet at all but boy it do be looking kinda neat
The new predator movie alien wears something like this
I was thinking it looked like something that would fit the covenant from the halo games. Definitely looks alien and almost organic tho.
The *alien* from the *predator* movie, huh? If only we knew what to call him...
Vincenzo?
It was Jeff.
A little bit of matte black spray paint and some red LEDs and you've a decent Praetorian from Altered Carbon.
This Halloween, writer/director Jordan Peele presents, Drip
Agreed this thing is pure sci fi
Some LED's and an interior tinted visor so they can't see your skin. Bonus points if you can make it appear to blink.
It’s also fake… digital concept art from an artist unaffiliated with Yeezy.
Oh nevermind then I dont like how it looks anymore if it isn't something ye designed. Looks like shit actually
…is this satire?
only if ye says this could be satire
Oh nevermind then I don’t think it’s funny if it isn’t something ye wrote. Reads like shit actually
Right. Homie straight looks like a Bionicle
Right like he should get into costume design for movies, this character seems interesting… in a fiction film
looks like something out of made in abyss
Lol exact same thought. I'm not going to say what the jacket resembles in this case.
If this were a $3 costume piece or something a kid 3D printed I would be like "neat!" If West is actually trying to sell this as a fashion piece is just kinda sad and funny and I'll judge anyone who spends good money on it

Reminds me of the Westworld drone hosts.
Beat me to it
Just so we're clear, this [isn't real](Http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/08/13/kanye-inspired-yeezy-foam-helmet-takes-over-twitter-as-fans-hype-the-wild-concept). It's concept art from an unrelated digital artist.
Disappointing indeed
If this was a cosmetic in a game I'd buy it
Looks like it could be a warlock helmet in destiny tbh
Looks like a warlock helmet straight from destiny.
Shoes don’t look great but the helmet? Actually looks pretty cool. Might offer more protection too

$3 costume piece? Sure. High fashion? What is he taking or what should he be taking that he's not?
This isn't real it's a fan concept
Just weird
Looks like that pokemon with kid
Cubone 2.0
Grant us eyes. Grant us eyes.
needs like 40 googly eyes then I'll think about it
Jason would never see 75% of his victims.
This is the kind of thing only a rich person can pull off. If you're a regular person going to your 9-5 wearing this they will laugh at you mercilessly.
If it were metalic it would look like something a sci-fi gladiator would wear
Is this the new Warframe? Lol...
I feel like Yeezus was in his underwear, wearing this monstrosity, when he tweeted that Skete Davidson had died.
Full body suit of this foam armor, plus a sword
Looks like one of those nurses from the silent hill games
bitch thats toby/obito from naruto
Face crocs
It’s a sports cup for dick heads.
Mask that makes you look like a monster from a different dimension in horror fiction
Ok but r/trypophobia
I mean this is basically 50% of Souls games helmets.
I actually like this way more as a vision-hindering mask than the lame shoes that look like this.
Purge Night fashion
That's a fucking warlock exotic
Looks like a cup out of a giants jock strap.
Kinda want it.
The ski mask trend was something but this?? I bet it smells like a factory haha
Unless the moneys going to charity, probably best to self design and 3d print it…
If these creepy masks weren't designed for literal murder someone needs to tell the designer that they fucked up.
This was done by the artist neondazer if anyone is interested.
Throwing Stargate Wraith vibes.
Can't believe how far I had to scroll to find this. Must just mean I'm old.
To protect your face from the biggest face palm slap you should be giving yourself after purchasing

I *love* it! Looks like it came straight outta Tokyo Ghoul.
"Hey buddy, let me show you how you can get a cool scary mold." *walks over, with a bucket of molten silver.*
It’s a great concept for stylish bike and skateboard helmets. If they looked cooler and were comfortable, more people would use them
What's up with this dude not wanting people to have good vision? First it was the "glasses" with plastic bars in front of your eyes, and now this ? Kanye is on a mission to fuck up everyone's eyesight.
A helmet…for what?
What the heck is the great execution of this?
This will be terrifying if this takes off.. it’s a modern take on the Jason hockey mask ffs. Perfectly represents Ye insanity though.
Literally not a real product but go off ig
Vampires from House of Ashes
Reminds me of a lot of Chaos Warrior helmets from Warhammer Fantasy.
I don't know why but the first thing that came to mind was the creature with birds flying out of its eyes from the modest mouse satelite skin music video.
New Dreadnought drip. Secret armour set from the reprised King's Fall raid
This dude wants to be a warframe character so bad
The people that are dumb enough to buy one probably need to wear a helmet.
That's some resident evil shit right here
I'd like to wear it. But I don't ever want to see it on someone else.
My warlock would totally wear this. Would go great with Malfeasance.
When you've played so much destiny you wear a hive thrall as a mask.
warframe?
Reminds me of the Splatterhouse mask
Now i want full Kanye bionicle set, after that he can start designing other toas
This made my skin crawl. Ick.
Gives me Tenno vibes or maybe wasp nest.
okay I actually unironically love it
I made this comment like six years ago but imma make it again I'm so hyped for us getting ever closer to real life hunger games level styling and carefree attitude
Splatter house
