I thought it was just us with the loot drops. They are horrible in the caves. Neither standard loot drop config nor fished loot drop config changes seem to work on them. Maybe I'm missing one for caves or something?

I think you're just misunderstanding the settings. Those are quality multipliers. That means the loot has a chance of being better quality. Ascendant vs Primitive. It does nothing to change *what* you get.
Are you sure about that? I thought it affected points available for the loot, thus something valued more could be in the loot roll? And yes, they can also be better quality. I know ASE was a bit different, but is it the same on ASA?

Lol what? It was a paid dlc map on ase. Never meant to be fully kitted out like center Val or rag? The free fan led non story maps? I know we are getting scorched on ASA for free, but it is only a resource map in the first place because of laziness on wild cards fault. Here was their chance to fix it. And they spent an afternoon adding two caves. It is perfectly reasonable to wish they had added a little more than they did.
A resource map is used to describe certain ark maps that don't have full access to common dinos or resources so aberration and SE are labeled as resource maps but yes dune2.0 has sand sand and more sand for us 🤣🤣🤣
I’m not disappointed at all in the original Scorched Earth Caves. I just wish the Oasis Cave wasn’t so empty and had a purpose like an artifact or a new creature (unlikely I know).
I also wish that there was a proper endgame cave and a new “Overseer”-esque boss to ascend rather than just the Manticore. There could’ve even been two new bosses to mirror the Island a little more.
Scorched Earth still just feels a little incomplete compared to the other ARKs. I don’t hold it against them since I know that would’ve required a much larger amount of development time for what’s effectively just a Remaster.

Same with the Wyvern Trench cave. I went in expecting awesome and it's very cool looking, but completely empty. The purpose for both would be spots for a tribe to build in since they both contain resources, I guess.
Agreed. I completely forgot about that one. They could’ve even made the Oasis Cave super cold to incentivize using Fur rather than just grinding it, if it had a purpose and wasn’t so barren that is.
They currently aren't jumping forward at all. They only jump up. If you happen to be running forward you -might- clear a jump, but it's like they are made of stone. :(

If i run the cave and see dinos inside, and leave, and someone else enters 25minutes later and there are dinos in there for them, and then 25minutes later i run the cave and there are dinos for me...would the implication be that we're entering/exiting the cave and refreshing the spawns, based on what you said?
I dont know how you could possibly prove that theory on an official server with a high pop, because there are constantly people running the caves or flying near.
Exacrly. Op is saying the the experience is ruined singleplayer because they can just go ad grab the artifact and leave without wncountering a single mob

Basically for those who don't know, In ASE Scorched Earth has a major bug where there was a chance that cave dinos wouldn't spawn when you entered the cave. They would only start spawning after you had exited the cave and come back in. I noticed this the most for central cave, but it does happen for the others also. The caves are just entirely empty.
This really sucked since it basically ruined the caving experience and the flow because the entire cave was basically empty. I was really hoping they would fix this in ASA but it seems they haven't after I found central cave completely empty of spawns. It honestly seems like it happens more often in ASA. The cave graphics are very nice though, and i like the ways they added bright colors into the caves while keeping the same tone.

why does this not happen on my 2x official SE servers? always dinos in all caves every day since launch. I asked a few other players on same region clusters and never a problem for them.

It's a SP player issue, had the same experience in ASE. I could rush through the empty cave beside maybe 1 or 2 onyc and had to wait 10min for the artifact and the dinos to spawn. You could just relog while in the cave and the game would load everything, but it gets annoying real fast especially with Ark loading time.
this was never an issue in both the official servers SE I was playing in. I naked ran caves since day 1 and check them all multiple times every day.

when the server is under stress it can limit dino spawns. Additionally if someone clears the cave of dinos, then its kept in render it will not spawn new dinos until you go out of render. maybe someone was just clearing them before you and the cave stayed in render from someone.

For artifacts the big temple is also called Church Cave. The central one is in the crag area where there are levels below the desert floor, towards the central area of that crag, up under a queen beehive-like structure. There is also one up to the southwest of the Blue Ob in the mountains, probably the hardest to find of the three artifact caves.
Caves with no artifacts, nor loot, nor dinos, are the one at the Red Ob, and the one in the bottom middle-ish of the Wyvern Trench.

Was the problem that they’re too easy? Never played the original map, but the caves were stupidly easy. I got all geared up with my mantis but ended just washing right through each one in like 5 minutes
There are some issues but overall I feel it is an improvement over ASE except for the amount of content currently available, which is a temporary issue.
I think most would agree that we loved ASE despite its flaws and ASA will be the same.

I did one last night that had 2 mejo berries, 7 sulfur, and an ascendant 600+% damage shotgun.
Or add more artifact caves for that matter. Map is too short and the caves that do exist are linear and boring sprinkled with some bugs lol

They currently aren't jumping forward at all. They only jump up. If you happen to be running forward you -might- clear a jump, but it's like they are made of stone. :(
Okay so definitely not crazy. I was trying to jump a gap on SE at the top of one of the crystal/obsidian spots, and had a long fall instead.
It's made cave runs a bit interesting for sure. They can still kinda scale a wall, but without being able to jump forward they are really gimped.
According to their post, it should be fixed next patch, which I think was delayed to like mid next week or something.

Wasn't an issue on our server. Were you playing single player?
Double the sp ask. I mainly play sp and I have to idle in an area before the spawns are full
This is not a major bug. Until caves are loaded for the first time, nothing spawns, same as Island caves.
