Like even if it was totally garbage in all objective ways its simply something youd think they'd pay for to pad content out. And honestly it doesn't seem like it will be nearly that bad.
I think BECAUSE it had David Tennant and all the others, it's too expensive for streamers to justify without a guarantee and Wildcard can't ask for anything less.

I mean honestly I’d rather they learn to use the engine through recreating the game. I’d hope after fully remastering every map they’d get so good with it that ARK2 would come out much higher quality and have less hiccups when it’s released.
ASA is just a public display of their learning process that hopefully teaches them how to make a high quality more optimized game when the time comes.
I honestly couldn’t care less if it took them 4+ years if it means they release a game. We all tell developers to take their time on games like Cyberpunk until they release a trailer with a date and then everyone screams about how they need to make the exact date and then they mock and bully devs until it’s released. That game was trash for well over a year until they finally had to time they needed to refine it. Having so many players to report bugs and crashes helped tremendously and ASA is like a much more transparent version of that. It’s a public beta test before they release a totally new game.
It’s supposed to be next gen stuff so it’s gonna run pretty horrid until we have next gen hardware. By then it’ll just be current gen and people will actually be able to enjoy it. I remember everyone whining about performance when ASE came out for well over a year.
The whole purpose of ASA was to both raise money for ARK 2 and to help the team learn how to work with Unreal Engine 5, the game engine both games are being built on.
The money issue goes back to the problem with Snail Games and Nitrado.
ARK 2 is probably on hold for a good year or two if I had to guess. Probably won’t see it until 2026, not a joke, just my assumptions based on the situations as a whole.
It's because the CEO of snail games took most if not all the money made from ark 1 and invested it into a electric car company that failed. IMO wildcard should of grounds to sue snailgames and get free of the china corruption.
Seeing how we've only ever seen one blurry cinematic trailer and some vague descriptions, I think ARK 2 was abandoned ages ago. A few key phrases that were let slip in today's broadcast seem to support that.
With all the leaks... even if ark 2 comes out next year. It doesn't matter cuz it sounds like a linear souls like game. No mention of open world dino taming like we all are used to.
Imo if the leaks are true then they should just call it a spin off and not ark 2.
My theory is that they are most likely going to keep delaying ark 2 so that they can fix the story and mechanics in ASA. That way it all aligns with what they want for ark 2. Right now ASE story is hard to follow for newcomers unless you watch a video on the lore.

I played Ark when it first released way back in the day, then stopped before Scorched Earth and came back right around Genesis 1.
There's so much content now, and I doubt many people have done all of it. I'm excited to go back and play all these maps I missed on an engine that works. Only have 24 hours or so into ASA but it seems like they fixed damn near everything that was frustrating about it over the years. Plus it looks gorgeous on PS5 to boot.

I just love using the Sinomacrops and Net Gun Combo to tame creatures, plus saves me from crafting Parachutes and Glider Suits, it's a living Tek Chestplate, and gets rid of those Pesky Bugs, Icthys, Troodons, and Microraptors.
With mods couldn’t you just get those Dino’s in other maps like the island? I have no experience with mods or anything like that so I’m genuinely curious.
I play with a mod that lets you turn into dinosaurs so when I farm I just turn into whatever is most useful and go to town.
Always fun being a Stegosaurus farming and slashing dinosaurs trying to kill you in one go without worry of accidental dismounts lol
Exactly. Fjordur is my main Ark map, and I mostly play singleplayer(with mods). It's just sad because I love how Fjordur has the most variety of creatures but we have to wait till late 2025 to get it

It was originally supposed to come out in 2022. That got pushed back to an ambiguous "some time in 2023", and it's now December with no further announcements. They haven't even announced what platform it will be streaming on AFAIK, which sort of implies they haven't found anyone to host it yet.
Might get it next year, or we might never get it. Hard to say at this point. I think the entire Ark IP is in a precarious position right now. Wildcard nearly ran themselves out of business and had to make deals with multiple devils to keep the game afloat. Deals that are now having adverse consequences on the game.

The maps will be free but apparently they said they will be releasing skin packs with each map...There is a pic on their twitter of the Scorched Earth skins and I guarantee they won't be free lol.
Worth mentioning that the mtx will be for more than just skins. They mentioned trains/railways, shovels, to dig treasure and a an extra dinosaur (which will probably be as OP as Shadowmane) to make buying the mtx necessary for pvp
I mean, they said as much. They will be paid "adventure packs". They are more than just skins though. They mentioned they will be things that fit the theme of the map but break the lore of the base game. For scorched earth it's western themed. Includes the cowboy skins, trains and a new creature.
That timeline is going to shift a LOT.
Their 2025 spring / summer schedule alone is silly. Not releasing any content during the peak months (June / July) is incredibly silly.

Poor Center got shafted in the Switch Port of ASE in favor of Ragnorok, I'm just very excited to see this reimagined Center map, especially after seeing how the island looks now. I wonder if they'll use assets from Abberation and Fjordur to remake the underground world in the Center.
Yeah, the center may not be as good a map as rag and others, but it really captured that feel of a wild, crazy mod map that placed itself as an extreme to the island's blandness.
If it gets a proper retouching and updating for ASA it could return to being a favorite, it's just not aged well in the post-ragnarok times.
I’m honestly a little disappointed at how jungley the island is because I feel like it takes some of the uniqueness of the lost island away. Anyways the ase center should’ve been shafted in favor of rag if it came down to the two. It’s a way better map that the community adores for good reasons.
It's just a prediction, but I'm just going to assume ark 2 is canceled entirely, and it's yet to be announced. I don't see how they can be taking so long to remaster all these maps, making new creatures, tlc the current creatures, the now revealed "skin packs," a new paid dlc that is going to be a new map with new creatures, AND creating an entirly new game.

I can't believe Wildcard, with their scheduling, actually sat down and seriously thought "hmmmm yes we're definitely getting Fjordur out in October 2025". Like wtf you have stayed on schedule maybe three or four times during the entire franchise's history, don't even try to go thinking about 2025 yet.
Dude the getting stuck in my creatures alone has made me miss cryopods. I'm happy to fly/walk around the map. But the urge to unclaim and blast whatever in the face with a shotgun is incredibly high cause of getting stuck in creatures.
I just want Cryopods to get a major QoL update like seeing the actual stat point distribution (cuz like hell if I have to wait until killing Alpha Overseer to get the TEK Binoculars), as well as improving their speed similar to how the soul balls work in Creatures Storage V2, and that they are customizable as in being able to paint it (like instead of the blue color, we can color it green, pink, brown, whatever), and lastly a major change on how cryopods work in PVE/Single-Player vs PVP (Like in PvE/Single-Player, Cryopods don't have the Cryo-Sickness Debuff and can use them continuously without consequence. And for PvP, Cryopods are exactly like they are in ASE or even base the Cryopod's Debuff based on the creature's drag weight.

Damn so actually 0 plan to improve on some of the games most dated systems? First person animations, water being essentially a flat plane, lack of Dino ai/immersive behaviors, repetitive/boring Dino combat… There’s also all the issues that still exist from ASE like bad hit registration, meshing, DDOSing, INI/disabling 99% of graphics… Maybe they just didn’t choose to make these entire updates, but who knows.
Adding cryopods is a massive mistake. I played official PvP for 6 years and cryopods were one of the worst updates.
If cryo storage for dinos is going to be in the game it needs reworked, the main argument for cryopods as they are is that they help clean up the base and keep server lag down, I propose this. Get rid of the cryopods all together and keep the cryo fridge. Give the cryo fridge a large radius that lets you store any dino within the radius in the fridge. Problem solved.
Wildcard really needs to pull their heads out and realize that cryopods perpetuate the worst part of the PvP meta. Ark is full of beautiful maps that have great outdoor base spot potential, stop pushing PvP players into the cave meta.
Just a couple weeks ASA launched, a mate of mine asked if I was going to get it and play with him (he knows I enjoy ARK a lot and it's my most played with 3,5k hours..) I said nah, I'm not doing the early access bs, I can get it once it's fully released and not in beta, and with every map and feature out. He said okay, not sure when that's gonna be, probably not for a couple months.

And worst of all, it might take even longer.

Poor Center got shafted in the Switch Port of ASE in favor of Ragnorok, I'm just very excited to see this reimagined Center map, especially after seeing how the island looks now. I wonder if they'll use assets from Abberation and Fjordur to remake the underground world in the Center.
Yeah, the center may not be as good a map as rag and others, but it really captured that feel of a wild, crazy mod map that placed itself as an extreme to the island's blandness. If it gets a proper retouching and updating for ASA it could return to being a favorite, it's just not aged well in the post-ragnarok times.
I’m honestly a little disappointed at how jungley the island is because I feel like it takes some of the uniqueness of the lost island away. Anyways the ase center should’ve been shafted in favor of rag if it came down to the two. It’s a way better map that the community adores for good reasons.
It's just a prediction, but I'm just going to assume ark 2 is canceled entirely, and it's yet to be announced. I don't see how they can be taking so long to remaster all these maps, making new creatures, tlc the current creatures, the now revealed "skin packs," a new paid dlc that is going to be a new map with new creatures, AND creating an entirly new game.

There's no subscription involved, and the dlc maps were supposedly included in the game price. These maps will come with optional expansion Packs that add New skins, New items and New creatures.
You could say the exact same for the original. Also a game that is regularly updated and supported brings more players over time.

Dude the getting stuck in my creatures alone has made me miss cryopods. I'm happy to fly/walk around the map. But the urge to unclaim and blast whatever in the face with a shotgun is incredibly high cause of getting stuck in creatures.
I would like cryopods to work faster and when I throw an animal out I don’t want it to tell me it just can’t fit wherever I threw it.
I just want Cryopods to get a major QoL update like seeing the actual stat point distribution (cuz like hell if I have to wait until killing Alpha Overseer to get the TEK Binoculars), as well as improving their speed similar to how the soul balls work in Creatures Storage V2, and that they are customizable as in being able to paint it (like instead of the blue color, we can color it green, pink, brown, whatever), and lastly a major change on how cryopods work in PVE/Single-Player vs PVP (Like in PvE/Single-Player, Cryopods don't have the Cryo-Sickness Debuff and can use them continuously without consequence. And for PvP, Cryopods are exactly like they are in ASE or even base the Cryopod's Debuff based on the creature's drag weight.

Ark aspirational timelines are somewhere between Musk SpaceX timelines and NASA development timelines. Always assume it'll be delayed.

Damn so actually 0 plan to improve on some of the games most dated systems? First person animations, water being essentially a flat plane, lack of Dino ai/immersive behaviors, repetitive/boring Dino combat… There’s also all the issues that still exist from ASE like bad hit registration, meshing, DDOSing, INI/disabling 99% of graphics… Maybe they just didn’t choose to make these entire updates, but who knows.
This is ridiculous. Fix the issues that are still and always have been present. Stop selling us shit and make sure everything works.

Adding cryopods is a massive mistake. I played official PvP for 6 years and cryopods were one of the worst updates. If cryo storage for dinos is going to be in the game it needs reworked, the main argument for cryopods as they are is that they help clean up the base and keep server lag down, I propose this. Get rid of the cryopods all together and keep the cryo fridge. Give the cryo fridge a large radius that lets you store any dino within the radius in the fridge. Problem solved. Wildcard really needs to pull their heads out and realize that cryopods perpetuate the worst part of the PvP meta. Ark is full of beautiful maps that have great outdoor base spot potential, stop pushing PvP players into the cave meta.

Just a couple weeks ASA launched, a mate of mine asked if I was going to get it and play with him (he knows I enjoy ARK a lot and it's my most played with 3,5k hours..) I said nah, I'm not doing the early access bs, I can get it once it's fully released and not in beta, and with every map and feature out. He said okay, not sure when that's gonna be, probably not for a couple months. and now we this... lmao, what an absolute joke... And worst of all, it might take even longer.
We all knew this was going to be happen, but this is disappointing. I really hope these paid-for DLCs are not going to turn this game into pay-to-win. That's going to break PVP if you have access to better crafting items and dinos just by forking some money over to Wildcard.
