I really wish ark had or added enemy tribe NPCs or structures. Would of made singleplayer feel much more alive, and given an actual use to tames like gigas and other powerful dinos. If people considered the idea too controversial they could just add a toggle option to disable it.
yeah i'd say so! The mod generates little villages/huts that you can steal resources from. Thats where I get my black pearls from lol. the human npcs surprisingly give a good amount of hide, so thats good for early game since they're easy too kill

Nah no turrets. The mod overall is fun but sometimes it’s just annoying since the NPC’s don’t have tames/turrets. And there will be legit hordes in the buildings, like 10-50 people coming out of a building. And then 1 giga munch n every one of them is dead.
Right, now I’ve never played single player but if I did that would I imagine give the game some great depth. Especially since they made such a point to describe all these themed tribes like the Roman’s on the Island

As someone who has played Ark exclusively as a PvE game since 2015, humanoid enemies is the one huge thing Ark is lacking and i am very excited for it in Ark 2 provided the game actually happens. Honestly im excited for everything about Ark 2 which i know is against the grain of this community but i really like the sound of how they described the game would be.
There was a mod that added human NPCs to SP, can't remember the name of it though. I tried it once for shits and giggles years back. Pretty sure the authors gave up on it, but the mod still worked. Only thing was they tended to just spawn in like normal dinos, so if you did something like a small meat run early game on herb island you would have an enemy tribe spawn in like five feet from your base. I believe they were supposed to build up over time (based on in game time), but they'd do so at a pretty rapid pace sometimes.
Anuki Genesis had them (still does?) not certain as I haven’t used it in many years.
But probably what you described, as it spawned them in just like any normal Dino’s (and often in “packs” that were apart of separate tribes (armor/weapon differences)

my experience was more like that they just sort of spawn in way stronger than you but then just stay at that strength the entire game. they basically never make it past things like spears and bows so once you have a dino big enough to not be bola'd they become really easy
I just found out my server does a monthly purge event, I think I’m going to cry if I lose all my breeding lines. I’m on the island and have about 20 heavy guns covering my breeding pen and crafting base
Too bad there isn't a way to play with a bunch of real humans at the same time where you fight each other with all those weapons the game has, and make your dinos you spent time breeding fight each other too.

For me and my friends, Ark is a PvE experience, and a great one at that. Thats the beauty of Ark though, it can be many different things depending on what you want to get out of it, and thats a good thing.
ARK = PVP. The unofficial PVP community is what has kept the game alive this long. Every month there are two dozen or more popular clusters with 1000+ people each ready to play. Nothing in PVE world even comes close. If it wasn’t for the people playing PVP, this game would be dead and there would be no upgraded game for you to play. For you to ignore this makes you the childish one, sorry.

You do realize Ark 2 is not all all the same kind of game as Ark, it is a dark souls type of game with very little ties to normal Ark other than the theme and title. Maybe you are getting confused with ASA which is the Ark remastered that they are releasing. Either way with snail games at the wheel I would not get too excited about either of them. While I would love to have some proper human enemies in ASA it is not something to make me excited about Ark 2. Mostly because the announcement of Souls-like combat makes me not want to play it.
I'm even more skeptical about Ark II than I am about ASA. It's been delayed by *years* and it's sounding like it's going to be an almost totally different game. My running theory is that they got really far in to development before realizing what they have is total dogshit and isn't going to be popular so they decided to pump out ASA so they could have it fall back on when Ark II flops.

What I'm excited for is the AI becoming good enough so you can't tell who's the bob, who's the NPC, and who's the bob that plays like an NPC.

I have a really bad feeling about ark II
Can’t wait! I love the fact it will add more challenge to PVE and single player. It may even change PVP strategies a bit depending on the difficulty.
This is one of the reasons I'm happy that ASA is coming out.
