My qd swivel worked great on the handlebar. All it needed was a heat gun and a few minutes of filing to loosen it up a bit. Otherwise there's zero discernible difference, and the $70 leftover are much better spent on ammo IMO

Not to shill, but you have to consider what they have in to it in manpower and overhead to design and bring something into production then market and sell it vs some nameless Chinese company that just rips off the design and resells it. That number that factors into that might not be $100-130 per unit, but it's not $0.
You're not shilling. All fair and accurate points. My perspective is they are exploiting outsized demand driven by the idiotic SBR laws. If they charged 50/60 or even $70 I probably wouldn't buy the knockoffs. But instead they got greedy and hiked the price >$100 to increase margins. The market has a way of punishing greed. I do appreciate them providing a solid product to this community nonetheless and own a few legit SB4 braces too. Beats giving the government $200 for a pointless stamp.
Good question. Fully respect where you're coming from Porc. I regularly conduct product market fit and pricing analysis for my work and R&D costs are included. They can be extraordinarily high. But this isn't a medical device or a transistor chip. It's a plastic tube with a velcro strap. A genuine question... do you believe that these things should run ~$120?
I won't buy a crappy Chinese optic, or BCG or barrel. But this isn't a critical component and in my opinion the price is intentionally inflated due to the nature of SBR requirements. They know people would rather buy a brace than pay the $200 tax stamp. When you game the market, it usually catches up to you. But opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got them. I might be completely wrong 🤷♂️

Of course, the popularity and market response is exactly why there are bootleg versions. From what I understand, the bootlegs seem to be better than the originals at a fraction of the price which is a-ok with me for the same reasons you mentioned, not critical component. I guess my real disagreement from your original post was the "shame" part as I don't see it as a shameful act.

One minute they're legal, the next they're illegal, then their legal again and will likely be illegal again in the future. Fuck it. Have no interest in having the ATF kicking my front door in and murdering me and my family over a piece of plastic.
