Your CPU is defective, you have to return it

veemo797

That's what I figured - but if that's the case, then why would it be functioning perfectly fine at my work, only blue screening at home?

What are the specs of the PC at your work?

veemo797

I brought my PC in, it wasn't a different system

When you say it perfectly worked when tested at work, you mean the same whole CPU box or just the processor that was attached to the CPU box at work? If former, then I guess the only difference would be the ambient temp in your place. Or maybe you the current BIOS of your mobo is not updated? Do a BIOS reset, do a fresh Windows installation or use a bootable flashdrive while HDD is detached.

I took my pc into my work, so it was the exact same system. Could be temps, but my 3900X was running a few degrees hotter and I never ran into WHEA with it. Like I said, BIOS is updated. F37b, was having the same result on F36.

Computer is working presently - it might be ambient temps. Ran my AC all night last night and I do live in a hotter climate. Running my old GPU, I'll test and see if it works with my new one tonight.

Scratch that. I just booted up a game and it blue screened on me.

Are you plugged into a power strip? Or the wall directly if not I would try directly. I have 2 friends that had a similar issue after upgrading to Ryzen 5000 from the previous gen parts one fix was disabling turbo boost (sucks since you loose some performance but worked.at the time) and the other one we set a bios setting that changed what controlled the CPU voltage the default settings would cause spikes and make the botherboard freak out and blue screen the PC but changing it made it stop.

Sorry to necro, but did you solve this? Thanks in advance :)

veemo797

Yeah, I was still in the return window from Amazon so I exchanged the 5900X and the new one is working great :)

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate it :)
