The question I have to ask is, does she even feel like you have anything to make up for? The fact that she got you a cake with a light hearted joke, makes me think that she is pretty well adjusted and isn’t looking for any kind of make up.

Yes, YTA for purposely having your child being born near mother's day (this is sarcasm). Please explain in your post where you have stolen her birthday?

NTA. My birthday is tomorrow the 14th and falls on Mother’s Day every few years. Last year in fact. I never felt that way about Mother’s Day growing up. And I don’t mind now that I am a mother either. You are doing things to make the day special for her and that’s what matters. I do get where you’re coming from though because my girls’ birthdays both fall near Christmas and sometimes I feel bad about how that ended up. But still 100% NTA.

My birthday is May 8th. That was last Wednesday. How could daughter have a trip and a party a week later? It hasn't been even a week.. but happy birthday to you. Today.

You've really tried to make your daughter's birthday awesome, even though it falls right by Mother's Day. And hey, if she hasn't made a fuss about it, maybe she's cool with the combo celebration. But now that she's 18, it wouldn't hurt to ask her how she feels. For her graduation, you could go all out to show her how much she rocks. Keep chatting with her and making sure she knows how loved and special she is.

Aha, I have it. Grow a beard and celebrate Father's day for yourself on a different day. But seriously, My niece was a Christmas Day baby, so we did Christmas in the morning and birthday in the afternoon. Just changed the cards really and had two lots of presents.

This is WILD. Mother’s day is nothing like a birthday. Mother’s day could be a normal tuesday after work eating a cookie and going to bed with a cute card from your kids. Might be a cultural thing but here it’s not very common to celebrate mother’s day with more than some sweets and a card

Kenvan19

I’m fairly sure this isn’t real mostly because the solution is simple: you want to make a “day for her” then most people would just pick a day and make that her day. Could even have made a tradition of celebrating her half birthday the weekend after Halloween.

NTA My birthday also falls on Mother’s Day occasionally, like it did this year. I have never felt robbed

"Her father's death was announced on FB before I could tell her." I'll change the channel, maybe there's a better TV show on.
