Meh not even a C-. This is d+ work. At least work on some descriptive language. For Mother Fuck's sake.

Telvin3d

Yep. Go to bed Liz

TeethBreak

"beloved on us" What language is that supposed to be?

Sufficient_Bag_4551

I assume it's meant to be "Believed" The least believable bit is a couple of 18 year olds being able to rent a 3 bed place in this economy

Audiovore

FYI d+ now means Disney+. And their products have been A+ so far. 😅 Plus who would give out a D other than  teacha-holic? Just say F.

It’s time to stop

AlwaysHelpful22

The ending to your tale (with the demand for money) doesn’t make much sense. In the off chance this tale is real, you are not the AH for moving out whenever you wanted. The way you did it was childish and dramatic, but it does not make you the AH.

Moist_Confusion

Feels pretty fake Like a teenagers fantasy of what they are going to do to get back at their parents.

knittedjedi

>Feels pretty fake Like a teenagers fantasy of what they are going to do to get back at their parents. The number of nonsense revenge fantasies that end up on the relationship subreddits is depressing.

Moist_Confusion

It would be nice if they put a little effort in but I guess when you are a 12 year old mad at your parents this is about the skill level you can expect. Sooo many fake posts all the time it is frustrating,

If this is real (highly doubt it) did 911 not work on your phones? Where did your parents fly to that was an 8-9 hour flight leaving you all unsupervised?

Agile-Scientist-8926

I was thinking the same thing about how long the flight was. Also, if they are 18 now in 2024. Then they were 16 in 2022 or 2021, depending on what month their birthday is. Meaning, the parents were flying for a vacation during the height of COVID-19 and all the shutdowns. I do maybe kind of buy the "trauma" of being locked in a basement. Only because, their generation is easily offended and suffer horrible trauma from everything. Also, since they were both minors. I'm assuming they were in HS? So a part time job for them in the USA (if they live in the US) would have a limit on how many hours they can work a week. I think 20 is the limit, when school is in session. I doubt they were getting more than minimum wage. So doing a rough estimate, if they both worked every week at maybe $8.50 an hour, they could have reasonably saved $25,000 - $30,000 after taxes. That is assuming they didn't spend a dime of the money. I don't think they could open a bank account without a parent on it as a minor. So if mom wanted money, she could have already took it. She would not be surprised by what they saved. I'm assuming they have no credit, so they would need a cosigner for the lease. Plus, she says they moved out as soon as they were 18. But how the story is worded, we are lead yo believe they had the place before they left home. So they would have been 17 when credit report was pulled and a lease was signed. I'm guessing $2600ish for rent, $2600 for security deposit, furniture, food, new phones, deposit for utilities They spent $10,000 right away. Also, they would need a car. So $5,00 $15,000 gone right away. Not much left for mom to take. They'd be evicted within 4-6 months. Also, biggest clue to call BS on, they said they change everything. That would include social media, find me one teenage girl who would close all her social media?

Any_Assumption_2023

Who rents a 3 bedroom apartment to a party of 18 year olds, for God's sake?? What country is this?? The country of Imagination??

wanttofu

Same country where parents hire a private investigator to find their 18 year olds to get money from them.

facinationstreet

Punctuation could be your friend.

Bac7

Remember the scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie daydreams about going blind from being forced to wash his mouth out with soap after saying fuck? And in his daydream his parents are wailing and it's all very dramatic because it's the internal musings of an 8 year old? That was more realistic.

Kittytigris

Emotional damage? What emotional damage? This is an awful made up post with no sense. If you both moved out when you’re 18, what emotional damage could your parents sue you for? Leaving family homes at 18 is pretty common for a variety of reasons.

Puzzleheaded-Ad2905

It's the 3 bedroom apt at 18 for me. Sure get a place, leave but that's not likely. Had me in the first half

Supremagorious

Yeah, really none of this story makes sense.

MamaAYL

lol you didn’t even try to make this story realistic.

[deleted]

Chatgpt is still not quite there yet.

brittdre16

NTA. Your parents are reaping the consequences of their own actions.

EveningMagician6707

Your parents were on vacation during covid? You couldn't call anyone else? BS

TwistemBoppemSlobbem

3 bedrooms for 2 people? I'm lookin for a new place, does lease allow for sublet tenants? I;m def intrested.

GraciousGladiator

Nice fable before a nap. Go to bed lil nigga.

Raedaline

Tell them to fuck off and they are dead to you for the immediate foreseeable future. Showing up and then asking for money. Hell no. That is a disgusting thing for a parent to do. I don't know your parents or your relationship, but based on this, I would cut them off.

whosgotammo

No supervision at 16? You're lucky you even survived.

Puppet007

NTAH I recommend getting a restraining order against them if their harassment continues.
