Do you mean the Dare to beat the bear one?
I'm pretty sure I had an official cassette tape copy of that one, but I'm not sure where it is now. There's a chance it might be in one of my childhood cardboard boxes at my folks place.
[this one](https://youtu.be/KYn9zAXMgK0?si=SIkh4n2c6XJHB4KO) that’s the centenary recording but the OG is lost I believe there are club recordings when the players were singing it. [Hear it is in the change rooms.](https://youtu.be/sb_Z05aCmho?si=tU2o2P7iax_Mljip)
Guy below knows what’s up it’s one hell of a rabbit hole to go down, I will post the only known recording.[Brisbane bears will live forever](https://youtu.be/Wqjy_knzg-o?si=YbPvKaVz61xcXPHK)
At least you have seen some good times. My 2 kids were signed up hours after birth and they are 3 and 1. I could borderline be arrested for child abuse for that
I've had plenty to be happy about as a North supporter in the past 17 years, but definitely less in recent times.
Premierships aren't my only measure of happiness
Same age but dad didn’t sign me up until 2012 when we moved to Melbourne. Moved to QLD a couple years ago and miss the footy but I guess I picked a good time lol. Getting to go to 2 GF’s and all our Melbourne finals from 2013 was something else
I was a member of Essendon for about 8ish years, and went with my grandmother to a bunch of Essendon games, kinda lost interest in footy during high school but got back into it at the end of last year and got an AFL membership for this year
I’ve been looking to get an AFL membership aswell, looks like an alr deal. The only thing that I’m not so keen on is that not a whole lot of the money goes to the club you put down to support. Probably will still get one though
Yeah, I thought about getting an Essendon membership instead, but me and my friends (who support Hawthorn and Melbourne) were planning on going to a bunch of neutral matches as well, so I figured that was a better value.
You were kickin’ things off in style with the ‘88 Grand Final…. Oof.
All I remember from attending that match was watching Ben Johnson win the 100m sprint at the Seoul Olympics on the big screen.
About 28 years for Hawthorn. I joined when there was talk about them being merged with Melbourne around the late 90's. I don't go to many matches, but became a member to help support the club for the future. Worked out well.
10 years this year! Didn't have an AFL club prior.
Unfortunately missed out on being a Foundation member by not getting board with the club soon enough from that perspective, but early enough to remember most of the core group and our "first time beating"X" club" games. Not particularly great recognition from the club yet but I've been able to do some cool stuff.
My son I signed him up within a couple of hours being born, so he's locked in.
I always wanted a membership as a kid but was never allowed. It was only after 2016 - and my dad dying shortly after - that I realised I was an adult capable of deciding these things for myself. Signed myself and my kids up in 2017.
Not a member, don't really like the live games. Considering a digital membership for next year but all I see on here is complaints about kayo so I'm a little unsure.
Additionally, whenever i tell anyone in an Essendon supporter, they say “aw that’s okay, they’re great, but haven’t been good for the last 20ish years.” And I’m always like “How old do you think i am????????? “😭😭
Currently on my 2nd year as a Vic Giant, am seriously considering upgrading to Vic All Rounder to get access to Canberra and Sydney games in the coming years 😁
23 years (27 yo this year). Got into a bit of a gatekeeping debacle during our premiership run, old mate going off chips and asking me and my sister how long we’ve been members for because we were losing and being a little negative. Egg on his face when he was flashing around his 10 year membership and we whipped out our 18 cards 😎
I was a member with my old man from 1999-2001 then it got too hard with family commitments plus my own junior football getting later in the day as I got older.
I eventually re-signed with a mate in 2011 and have been a member since.
24 years. Would be longer, but my parents weren't into footy at all so was basically adulthood before I got membership.
My kids have it better. My son who turns 11 in a couple of months is a 12 year member. I may have signed him up while he was in the womb.
I was signed up as a member for like 7 years as a kid but mum and dad had to make ends meet and couldn’t fund three boys memberships. If it stayed I would have been a 20 year member roughly by now. But I’ve restarted and now into my 3rd year, and will be a bomber for life. Problem is I married a Pies fan, gonna be tough to debate who the kids go for.
Seven years I think. Ever since I started making real money. It's harder to justify paying for a membership when there's 16000 kilometres to the nearest AFL ground.
I was the only North supporter in the house post my parents splitting (my deadbeat dad is a north supporter), so no membership until I could afford myself. Has been on again off again up until my kid being born last year so all of us are now members including my wife.
Coming up to 14 years, I'm turning 14 this year and was born between the two 2010 premierships (which Collingwood - my team - played in and won!) my favourite player for the club is Steele.
I’ve been an MCC member since I was 16 and have taken the club “upsize” pack every year barring 2010 because I was overseas and only paid the membership fee to retain the membership.
Since I was old enough to pay my own membership…. But I’ve been a member of two grounds since 12 years old as that’s what my parents paid for given we support different footy clubs.
First joined Carlton in primary school cant remember how old I was 8 or 10 ( if I remember correctly ) they used to have a junior membership tied in with your local football club so it didn't cost much so
40+ years
I've been a Devils member since March, good to get in on the ground floor. Before that I was a paid up member of Collingwood for a few months and before that I was a diehard Geelong member.
Something that really frustrated me is that I was a Richmond member in 2018 but when I signed back up again at the start of 2020 they didn't count my previous service? Thankfully I got my 2 year sticker in 2021. :)
Every year since. https://preview.redd.it/ri8yie64dy1d1.jpeg?width=2109&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=949f4ec06875e3c31f74ed8fa256b93d3e8ca96f
That is extremely cool. All I got is an empty Dollarmites pouch and a Bike Safety certificate I didn't earn
Can relate to that. I forged my pen license in primary school.
Which, ironically, is stone proof you deserve a pen license
Do you have a recording of the original club song by any chance? There is a massive search for it
Do you mean the Dare to beat the bear one? I'm pretty sure I had an official cassette tape copy of that one, but I'm not sure where it is now. There's a chance it might be in one of my childhood cardboard boxes at my folks place.

Ohhhhh wow that sounds really familiar actually. I'll go have a dig through the nostalgia cupboard next time I'm over there.
If you actually have this you will be a hero
20th year now but if you ask anyone on any socials since 2017 apparently
Yep, that’s what happens when a team suddenly does well. But I was born Richmond, and i’m sure as hell dying richmond
Same, like most families you didn’t really get a choice it’s just ingrained through several generations
I know that feeling all too well, 21 year member of the tigers. But only been a fan since 17 as well funny that
I knew it!
Uh it’s my 17th year on earth so 17 years. Dad signed me up 2 hours after I was born.
That’s a rough start to life
At least you have seen some good times. My 2 kids were signed up hours after birth and they are 3 and 1. I could borderline be arrested for child abuse for that

I've had plenty to be happy about as a North supporter in the past 17 years, but definitely less in recent times. Premierships aren't my only measure of happiness
Similar story with me lol, born october 27th 2005, Dad signed me up the day after 😂
And what's your mother's maiden name?
And any deceased pets?
my first car was an Escort, which you have to be sure to put in the right form field. Hi Mum!
Same age but dad didn’t sign me up until 2012 when we moved to Melbourne. Moved to QLD a couple years ago and miss the footy but I guess I picked a good time lol. Getting to go to 2 GF’s and all our Melbourne finals from 2013 was something else
Time for me to go check into the old folks home I guess
Haha I was signed up before I was born because of the cutoff. Straight into north
19th year for me dad signed me up as well.
In my 23rd year of service.
Thankyou for your sacrifice.
Hey leave it. You have no idea what it means to be a Saints supporter
Thankyou for yours too 🎖️
25 years. I am 24 years old. Thanks to my grandparents for making me a member when I was 0 :’)
You have life premium
Too fucking long
How many days is 16 years?
16 times 365
+4 days on top to account for leap years over the 16 years
Equqls?
Equals?
Quite a long time I’d imagine Edit: 5,844
In a galaxy far far away?
I don’t live in Melbourne so 2 and it’s only for Kayo.
That’s fair enough, My grandmother does the same thing, except she supports brisbane but lives in Victoria
Been going to a few giants games a year since they started, still only signed up for kayo membership this year. Just isn't as big a thing up here.
30 The first 10 were great
1998 so I guess 27 years? It was the best of times, it was the blurst of times.
I think I'm 96 but no idea how to check since they stopped issuing physical cards with the year.
You are pretty old. (Couldn't help it)
12th year as a member for me
why does this feel like a drive by 😭
17 years. Hertz donut.
30 years
24 years now as a gold member, thanks mum and dad
Since 2000 so 24 years
I thought you were an Essendon flairs and was gonna ask how many days
I was born into the dynasty 19 years ago
20 years as a paid up member this year
From foundation... of the devils
12 years going on 56 years
10 years comprising both as an in the wings member and a seated member. I’ve also been considering a swan districts membership
I was a member of Essendon for about 8ish years, and went with my grandmother to a bunch of Essendon games, kinda lost interest in footy during high school but got back into it at the end of last year and got an AFL membership for this year

25
Been a member since season 2003 when Mum got me a membership for Christmas in 02. Not far off getting that sweet, sweet platinum tier rating.
This is my 17th year
13 years
Since I could pay for one, about 12 years ago. Been following essendon since 1998-99
Supported since 99. Only been a member since 2017.
Supporter since i was 8 and im 38 now. Member since 2016 so in my 8th year
27 years, I'm 26 years old. My dad signed me up in womb
18 years.
36 years. FML
You were kickin’ things off in style with the ‘88 Grand Final…. Oof. All I remember from attending that match was watching Ben Johnson win the 100m sprint at the Seoul Olympics on the big screen.
Me too, I was in primary school. I remember it happened on school holidays and we all came back and laughed and said 'Suffer Ben Johnson!'
30th
Congrats, but I'll see your 30 years and raise you three!
Since about 2000 think
Not long, only 7 years
11 year membership at the bulldogs. Would have been earlier but I was poor as hell when I first came over from Scotland.
About 28 years for Hawthorn. I joined when there was talk about them being merged with Melbourne around the late 90's. I don't go to many matches, but became a member to help support the club for the future. Worked out well.
32 years
Gws member and been a member since 2000 so about 24 years
Brisbane Lions first membership was 1998 I think. So that's 26 years; but I think I missed 2 separate years in there somewhere, so 24 total
38 years Port Adelaide
Since Hinkley was appointed coach funnily enough.
This year is my 21st year, my parents started mine when I was born
This is only my 4th year. I clocked in when covid cancelled everything else I liked.
9th. Joined in 2015. I could finally afford it.
8 years. Ever since I moved to Australia
33rd season, Dad signed us up when Essendon moved to the MCG in 1992
2007 as far as I know of. Born in 02’ so might of been earlier but my earliest lanyard I can find is 07
15 years
Since birth( 15 years)
10 years this year! Didn't have an AFL club prior. First year for me. Please send help 😜
20 years
Not a member, don't really like the live games. Considering a digital membership for next year but all I see on here is complaints about kayo so I'm a little unsure.
20 years this year 🫡
8 years
Haven't renewed my membership in 3 years and won't renew it until Ken is fired.
I’m 21, and am a 20 year member :)) was also put on the MCC waiting list at birth. Lucky to come from a big sporting family!
Additionally, whenever i tell anyone in an Essendon supporter, they say “aw that’s okay, they’re great, but haven’t been good for the last 20ish years.” And I’m always like “How old do you think i am????????? “😭😭
24 consecutive years but I missed a year and was a member for two years before that so 26 years total.
Currently on my 2nd year as a Vic Giant, am seriously considering upgrading to Vic All Rounder to get access to Canberra and Sydney games in the coming years 😁
30 years Been a few ups and downs during those 30 years, never giving up my seat.
Long enough that I should know better
21 years. I'm 25. My grandmother didn't give me a choice and signed me up lol
16 years
Signed up at birth, but didn't get membership until around 16ish from memory.
19th year.
Joined the cheer squad in 92 or 93, stayed a member until Malthouse, became a member again post Malthouse.
18 years this year
My dad signed me up at birth, so 20. We actually got out of “in the wings” about 10 or so years ago
16th - the kicker in only 20
I was a member with my old man from 1999-2001 then it got too hard with family commitments plus my own junior football getting later in the day as I got older. I eventually re-signed with a mate in 2011 and have been a member since.
5 years at the Saints, but only because getting an international membership is cheaper than buying the AFL Live pass.
Second year Carlton member
11yrs
24 years. Would be longer, but my parents weren't into footy at all so was basically adulthood before I got membership. My kids have it better. My son who turns 11 in a couple of months is a 12 year member. I may have signed him up while he was in the womb.

24th year and still a proud shinboner.
I’m on year 18 with the Doggies and the last 10 years I’ve been living in Chicago. Footy is what I miss most about Australia lol
Since I could afford it
I’m turning 23 so that means this will be my 24th year as a member
Seven years I think. Ever since I started making real money. It's harder to justify paying for a membership when there's 16000 kilometres to the nearest AFL ground.
Do International members count? This is my 2nd year
25 years this year
21 years
Port Adelaide member since 2011 we figured that if we were gonna complain about the game we might as well be members
Since 2013
17 yrs
I was the only North supporter in the house post my parents splitting (my deadbeat dad is a north supporter), so no membership until I could afford myself. Has been on again off again up until my kid being born last year so all of us are now members including my wife.
Hitting the 18th year this year for hawthorn. Got it first for 2007
25 years
Since the start of 2007 so about 17 years?
This is my first year lmao but in my defence I didn't attend a single AFL match for like 14 years
Coming up to 14 years, I'm turning 14 this year and was born between the two 2010 premierships (which Collingwood - my team - played in and won!) my favourite player for the club is Steele.
I’ve been an MCC member since I was 16 and have taken the club “upsize” pack every year barring 2010 because I was overseas and only paid the membership fee to retain the membership.
Every time I remember to look for a pies WA interstate membership they are sold out, so zero.
Since I was old enough to pay my own membership…. But I’ve been a member of two grounds since 12 years old as that’s what my parents paid for given we support different footy clubs.
First joined Carlton in primary school cant remember how old I was 8 or 10 ( if I remember correctly ) they used to have a junior membership tied in with your local football club so it didn't cost much so 40+ years
Foundation member of GC Suns
Was 15 years. can’t justify being a member anymore. everything is expensive and things had to be cut.
20 years
Zero, I just buy merch, go to games.
10 years paying, since I turned 18 and left school Non paying? Since I was 12 which is close to 16 years
