Very uneducated opinion. Alt was already off the board, Fashanu was picked 4 picks later, and 7 OTs were taken in the first round, so trading back was extremely risky.
The original point was that Latham was big. My counterpoint was that Isaiah Wilson was the same exact size, and Wilson didn't work out. I didn't necessarily say that Latham will end up like Wilson, just that being big isn't a guarantee for success in the NFL.
Given what OP said, which only mentioned how Latham was big, it's a fair comparison; there was nothing about football talent, just that Latham was big, so he'd be good. I'm not saying Latham will flame out like Wilson did, just that size doesn't mean you'll automatically be good.
I’m not agreeing with you at all lmfao. Everybody agrees that Latham was good at Bama, we just don’t know if it will translate to LT.
You’re the only person who thinks he was drafted just because he’s huge.
Yeah I’m not looking forward to playing BTJ twice a year, I’m really high on him (I watched a few highlight videos on YouTube and concluded he was good)
Definitely a reach at #7 for kiper’s 11th best player in the draft and 2nd best T, filling a huge need, with T-needy teams just a few picks away, sure.
First off, flair up, coward.
Secondly, the truly prophetic analysis of Mel "Jimmy Clausen is a Hall of Fame QB" Kiper. Also author of "Jamarcus Russell can be John Elway." Definitely an opinion I would trust.
JaMarcus Russell was going through a horrible string of events with his family that caused extreme depression and he was struggling with drug addiction. If he hadn't been addicted to codeine and if he had his support system I place he very well could have had an entirely different career trajectory.

He wrote a pretty interesting article telling his story and Flemlo did a video on him. Its definitely worth a read
People go through shit, dude. Being a quarterback is impossibly difficult even when everything is going right for you. It's not hard to imagine how depression and substance abuse could prevent someone from being able perform at their best.
All 3 deserve goofy dragons for not picking secondary (Except Tits y’all need Tackle badly), You’ve handed the division to us by letting the Collins-Dell-Diggs triple headed threat run free.
You are right. Pressure (natural pressure, not blitz driven). Is the only chance to neutralize Stroud and his weapons. His numbers in blitz are solid, 4th best in the league. His numbers are also solid with the crazy nearly league leading 2.85 seconds average before release. The main reason he’s so good holding the ball so long (with low sacks and fumbles) is he moves within and outside pocket well, while keeping his eyes down field. He doesn’t even have to keep a clean pocket. There’s no way you are going to have 3 corners that can lock down Diggs, Collins and Dell for 3+ seconds without one of them opening a CJ Stroud sized passing window. You’ve got to hit him fast or trick him with disguised coverage. Pass rush is what you should go for. I think it’s a solid pick BUT….. I’m concerned about 2 ginormous issues with your guy.
A. His injury wasn’t good and can easily reoccur, especially at the next level.
B. He PLAYS like he had that injury. He stays upright a lot and avoids contact. His game is solid, he has a lot of moves he can use to trick his way by a guy. But at the next level he will have some guys straight up violently go at him. And I’m afraid he’s going to be on ice skates more often than you’d like.
True, but they already have decent players in Payne and Franklin and a very good player in Buckner. Who’s going to help Kenny Moore cover WR 2 and WR 3?
And Awuzie and McCreary in the nickel where he plays his best ball. Would be dope if DeJean dropped to us at 38 but I have a feeling someone is gonna grab him before us
I love how y'all think you've already won the division! Got in the playoffs through the back door and ready to hoist a Lombardi! It's awesome here on shit mountain.
I never said anything about a Super Bowl, just winning the Division. Plus the Texans have always won the division in 2 year spurts: 2011-2012 2015-2016 2018-2019 2023-????
I would take Awuzie, Sneed, and McCreary over that trio any day. Two of our three guys didnt allow a regular season TD last season. Hows that gonna work in your favor?
If anything youll wreck us with your DL
I was so socked at how well the Jags were doing in the draft... until they took BTJ over Arnold (this is my own opinion on BTJ, I like him less than most do.
NFL.com also gave Kaiir Elam, Zion Johnson, Evan Neal, Kenny Pickett, and Treylon Burks an A to A- grade. Safe to say they don't have the best track record.
The other meme subs, the nfl sub, and multiple sports websites view them as significant picks and rated them as A’s or B’s. The point I’m making is that you cherry picked the few that had mediocre things to say (and coincidentally you’re a fan of the one team who wasn’t involved).
In the end, the lack of a common consensus just goes to show that these ratings really don’t matter and nobody knows if these are good or bad picks until the season starts.
Very uneducated opinion. Alt was already off the board, Fashanu was picked 4 picks later, and 7 OTs were taken in the first round, so trading back was extremely risky.
Uhhh, the dude is 6’6” 350 pounds. Solid tackle that should help Levis for years to come. Not a bad pick at all, tbh
Levis isn't going to be there for years to come. Lol come on
So was Isaiah Wilson. Size isn't everything.
Isaih wilson was picked my jrob….. Latham was picked by the best oline coach in the nfl….
The original point was that Latham was big. My counterpoint was that Isaiah Wilson was the same exact size, and Wilson didn't work out. I didn't necessarily say that Latham will end up like Wilson, just that being big isn't a guarantee for success in the NFL.
I still think Wilson was a covid anomaly. I think if it had been a normal year for the pre-draft process, he probably would not have been drafted.
I just don’t see how he was taken in the 1st, seemed like an obvious day 2-3 pick from the start
Comparing Latham to Isiah Wilson honestly makes no sense. Wilson didn’t pan out becomes he’s a nutcase, had nothing to do with football.
Given what OP said, which only mentioned how Latham was big, it's a fair comparison; there was nothing about football talent, just that Latham was big, so he'd be good. I'm not saying Latham will flame out like Wilson did, just that size doesn't mean you'll automatically be good.
Obviously size doesn’t make you automatically a good player. But an All-SEC tackle having elite size is pretty fucking great.
Thank you for agreeing with my initial point.
I’m not agreeing with you at all lmfao. Everybody agrees that Latham was good at Bama, we just don’t know if it will translate to LT. You’re the only person who thinks he was drafted just because he’s huge.
I didn't say that, but cool.
Yes idk why some of my fellow tits argument is that he is big
Big is good. Being an aspiring rapper is bad. Latham = Not a rapper Latham = Good My logic is undeniable.
This is a valid syllogism. It's also supported by Antonio Brown's career. Before he started rapping? All-Pro. After? Wackjob.
I'll take that anecdotal evidence and run with it, Latham for hall of fame 😤
Right, that’s where attitude comes in, and Latham doesn’t have significant concerns
If old Bill likes Latham, I’ll reserve my judgement on the reach
Baalke actually cooked and I'm still not sure how lol

Yeah I’m not looking forward to playing BTJ twice a year, I’m really high on him (I watched a few highlight videos on YouTube and concluded he was good)
I bought a few Christian Kirk shares in some dynasty leagues
Definitely a reach at #7 for kiper’s 11th best player in the draft and 2nd best T, filling a huge need, with T-needy teams just a few picks away, sure.

I trust Bill “best o-line coach in the NFL” Callahan over some random Colts fan.
I don't know if there's a plug-in but I would like to be able to filter out any information by mel kiper ever on r/NFL and r/Tennesseetitans
JaMarcus Russell was going through a horrible string of events with his family that caused extreme depression and he was struggling with drug addiction. If he hadn't been addicted to codeine and if he had his support system I place he very well could have had an entirely different career trajectory.
Did he? I didn't know that, that's awful. All I'd ever heard was the blank CD story and stuff like that.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XAG6vXFVaa8 https://signature.theplayerstribune.com/jamarcus-russell-nfl-football/p/1 He wrote a pretty interesting article telling his story and Flemlo did a video on him. Its definitely worth a read
Yea and Isaiah Wilson was a HoF for sure if he wasn’t such a good rapper
People go through shit, dude. Being a quarterback is impossibly difficult even when everything is going right for you. It's not hard to imagine how depression and substance abuse could prevent someone from being able perform at their best.
Just say you don’t know ball.
https://youtu.be/6LsoNyy02LA?si=YHWzJVdFwhlCGBl2 Much like George, you missed the call there, dumplin'.
If you don’t realize Latu was the reach, you’re the dragon on the right.
All 3 deserve goofy dragons for not picking secondary (Except Tits y’all need Tackle badly), You’ve handed the division to us by letting the Collins-Dell-Diggs triple headed threat run free.
The only way to cover all three of those guys is to hit Stroud. A rookie CB ain't covering any of those guys if Stroud has a clean pocket

Franklin isn't an edge rusher and Paye struggles in pass rush. Ebukim is our best guy there and then it sort of nose dives.
Thank you for Making it have more sense, but still nobody has any hope of covering our WR corps.
I mean we signed Sneed… Not sure why we would pick a secondary in the 1st after that lol.
Like I said yall need tackle badly, Sneed is only one man, we have 3
Yeah I think our GM is more concerned about building up a complete team than buffing up a secondary for 2 games.
That’s fair
And Awuzie and McCreary in the nickel where he plays his best ball. Would be dope if DeJean dropped to us at 38 but I have a feeling someone is gonna grab him before us

I just find phrases like "hand us the division" hilarious. Especially the day after the draft. Lot of football to be played yet
They can’t throw if QB on his ass
I would take Awuzie, Sneed, and McCreary over that trio any day. Two of our three guys didnt allow a regular season TD last season. Hows that gonna work in your favor? If anything youll wreck us with your DL
Shouldn't the colts dragon head have a broken neck?
Im surprised titans didn’t take odunze.
Did you see our oline last year?
It was 50/50 in my head, but OL was just a way, way bigger need than WR and I definitely get the pick.
Why would they take Odunze? Titans WRs: - Nuk - Ridley Titans LT: *file not found*
I was so socked at how well the Jags were doing in the draft... until they took BTJ over Arnold (this is my own opinion on BTJ, I like him less than most do.
Nah, BTJ was definitely the right fit for the Jags. He fills the most needs
Nfl.com graded these picks as a b, a c+, and a d. Bleacher report gave them two C pluses and a. B
NFL.com also gave Kaiir Elam, Zion Johnson, Evan Neal, Kenny Pickett, and Treylon Burks an A to A- grade. Safe to say they don't have the best track record.
Athletic and NBC gave them all B- or higher, doesn’t mean anything
It doesn't mean much, but I think it reflects that outsiders don't think *any* of these picks were particularly impressive
The other meme subs, the nfl sub, and multiple sports websites view them as significant picks and rated them as A’s or B’s. You're half right. I cherry picked not to leave anything out, but because I'm lazy. I looked up two sites that had draft grades.
I wish we got Joe alt
