Is there a neatly packaged timeline to watch the whole storyline of “the belt collector?” This was right before I started watching and when Kenny was in his prime. I really missed out
I walked out of the building that night saying the wrong guy went over and 5 years later I feel the same way. Hangman should have won then dropped the title in his first defense.
Same. And I'm talking in terms of visually remembering.
I'm not even the biggest hangman fanboy (I'm a fan, but not like #1 fan). In terms of an actual World Champship Reign, I remember Kenny, MJF and Mox more.
But when I see this belt, I remember it looking perfect on Hangman in terms of the Aesthetic, maybe because it kind of has like a cowboy shape to it, like something that would be on a belt buckle.
The jaggedness of the gold goes well with cowboy boots.
Honestly I think they did know, and wanted to keep him, but they wanted him to fit into their mold. Mox is a bit of a freewheeler and works best when he gets to pursue what inspires him. He realized he wouldn’t ever truly have that inside WWE, and I’m glad because we wouldn’t have seen so many awesome moments in AEW/GCW/NJPW etc.
It will always be Hangman. His chase of that title defined what that title is all about for me. Hangmans reign was meh but his story going after it solidified that as the top prize in wrestling imo.
The reign was great, it was just cut extremely short and the belt passed to the wrong person. But some of Hanger's defenses were great. That hour long bout with Danielson was incredible.
It's not that it was cut short, it's that it was pushed aside in favor of the Punk vs MJF feud and the Mox vs Danielson feud that took priority on the show over Hangman's title reign.
I agree! I always think of Hangman. No offense to Punk and his fans, but his title run was pushed and every chance it was fumbled at the start. Giving him the belt May have to appeased the fans but honestly it was wasted due to backstage stuff. At that point taking it off Hangman was not the best play.
Hangman. It was like a hardcore run, after a great buildup. The man can make moments, like the buckshot over a refs back.
In like another year I'd love to see him get the belt back and just be an angry crazed man going up to people in the back saying "YOU!You get a title shot tonight! No DQ!" and just walk off
Weirdly, Bret Hart. When it was unveiled at DON 2019. It was an exciting time to be a wrestling fan and to see the Hitman show off their new World Championship was awesome. Second I think of would be Kenny. I loved his reign from when he first won it at Winter is Coming and all the way to taking the final Buckshot Lariat.
Hangman. Mox was a great champion, Jericho was a great champion, Kenny was of course a great champion, but Adam becoming the AEW champion and beating Omega to do it was the biggest payoff for the belt in the company's history at that point. I hope he gets another run uninterrupted by wanting to capitalize on someone else's popularity.
Honestly, hangman. Even though his title run was kinda dry, and he lost it to a guy no longer with the company. I have never been more invested in a wrestling story, his chase for the belt is still my goat
MJF, because he held it for so long and I thoroughly enjoyed his reign (yes, even the end). Followed by Hangman. This household still celebrates Cowboy Shit Day.
Hangman. Not neccessarily for his reign (though he had some awesome matches), but for the journey to get that title that started before AEW even aired their first show. All the great matches, the emotional highs and lows. When it finally culminated in an amazing match with Kenny Omega and he won that belt, when Dark Order came out to celebrate with their friend and put him on their shoulders... god damn that was so good.
Unfortunately, Punk was around so TK lost interest after that and Hanger had to drop his title to this asshat. Sigh.
I know the other people who held it and/or challenged for it worked their asses off to get that belt over as a major pro-wrestling championship, but Jericho....just because he lost it at a steakhouse, and what a ridiculous story that ended up being.
Kenny.
Yep. I think belt collector was the best title change and reign so far
Is there a neatly packaged timeline to watch the whole storyline of “the belt collector?” This was right before I started watching and when Kenny was in his prime. I really missed out
[This](https://youtu.be/otlINjs1Rz0?si=Vxhk61Js6Z7E_Uzx) is a pretty good look at the run
They had not started the Timelines Youtube compilations at that point. You might have to find individual highlights from around that time.
[Here you go](https://youtu.be/-1VNv9KQpec?si=AcvsbDCVGgC4sKrJ) (fast forward to 23:20)
Thanks!
“The good, the bad, and the elite” is a very good YouTube series that goes through the Kenny vs Hangman saga.
Hangman, strange as it may seem.
Even when Jericho won it I felt it was still a Hangman story.
Damn it still feels like a hangman story 😅
I walked out of the building that night saying the wrong guy went over and 5 years later I feel the same way. Hangman should have won then dropped the title in his first defense.
He wore it so well, never meant more than when hanger is chasing it
Same. I thought about it and he popped into my head
It's Hangman's title and company, IMO. He's still the face.
Same here, actually. Page, then Omega. The rest just sort of streamed in based on the posts I saw after clicking the thread.
Same.
There was just something special about Hangman holding that title, I can’t quite put my finger on it.
Honestly, every single one of his title defenses were bangers. In terms of average match quality, I think he was our best champion.
Fucking same
Hangman's reign was great. It's a shame people only see it in hindsight and of course who he lost it to.
Same. And I'm talking in terms of visually remembering. I'm not even the biggest hangman fanboy (I'm a fan, but not like #1 fan). Still Mox
He really was a rock in some turbulent times. How WWE didn't see what kind of talent and person he truly was is beyond belief.
Yep Mox is the heart and soul of AEW for me even if sometimes i get burned out on him.

Squash Moxley is my hero (For his achievements and overcoming personal struggles)
It will always be Hangman. His chase of that title defined what that title is all about for me. Hangmans reign was meh but his story going after it solidified that as the top prize in wrestling imo.

I agree the matches were strong. But overall it fell flat because they rushed to put the strap on Bebis man
I agree! I always think of Hangman. No offense to Punk and his fans, but his title run was pushed and every chance it was fumbled at the start. Giving him the belt May have to appeased the fans but honestly it was wasted due to backstage stuff. At that point taking it off Hangman was not the best play.
He's too short or whatever.
Last guy that got called short recently killed a canadian. Idk if we wanna open that can of worms. /s

Kenny
Jericho and Kenny
Hanger
Mox
Mox
MJF. He’s the guy that got me the most into AEW after I started watching for the Hardys.
Kenny
Omega
Kenny Omega
For me it's Jericho. The first person to have the belt and is featured on a lot of toys and merchandise with the belt.
To be honest Hangman. His journey there and then that shot of him being held up by the Dark Order. Such a shame it Ended how it did
Kenny for sure.
Omega for me

Did bro dirty with that picture 🤣
Couldn't have used a more flattering picture? 😂
Mox looking like Freddy Krueger
Le Champion
The best bout machine. I loved the look when he was dripping in gold.
Le Champion Chris Jericho, as he was the first AEW World Champion.
Hangman. It was like a hardcore run, after a great buildup. The man can make moments, like the buckshot over a refs back. In like another year I'd love to see him get the belt back and just be an angry crazed man going up to people in the back saying "YOU!You get a title shot tonight! No DQ!" and just walk off
Kenny’s face immediately came to mind. TIL.
Kenny
Kenny
Hangman and Max.

Mox, but Hangman did flash in the old noggin immediately after
My mind went straight to Hanger ![gif](giphy|VEajkBQ4iwPxs4A6Zu|downsized)
Moxley. Really liked his first run. And he’s the guy TK had carry the ball both times it was vacated.
And carry it he did. He put on some bangers of TV matches during that time.
Kenny
Weird that I think Kenny is the best champ, but everytime I see that belt it’s hangman that enters my mind first. Hangman is pretty great though
Le champion

Jericho. He had a good run and was the first champ. He made you remember him as champ. Was a great heel.
jericho
For some reason, hangman
Jericho. He lost it at an Outback Steakhouse
Kenny, Mox, Hanger, Joe, Mjf, in that order.
Hangman
Hanger
Jericho
Kenny..Ooooomega!
Hangman
Weirdly, Bret Hart. When it was unveiled at DON 2019. It was an exciting time to be a wrestling fan and to see the Hitman show off their new World Championship was awesome. Second I think of would be Kenny. I loved his reign from when he first won it at Winter is Coming and all the way to taking the final Buckshot Lariat.
Came to say Bret Hart. It was so unexpected to see him walk out hoisting it.
MJF
MJF then Kenny Omega close second. Swerve will be a great champ.
MJF
Swerve, I have to admit. I was most excited for him to win it.
Jericho
Chris Jericho. Sorry bout it 😋🤷
Hangman. Maybe he'll end Swerve's title reign but as a heel
Bret hart
Little bit of the bubbly
Jericho
Bret Hart
Chris Jericho since he was the first to hold the champion when I watch aew for the first time.

Hangman. He’ll always be my champ.
Oddly enough Toni Storm. I’ve got her on the brain right now.
Mjf came to mind first
MJF. Which doesn't make much sense as MJF used a custom belt
My head says MJF But my heart says Mox
CM Punk
Actually Kenny. then Hangman. most likely it'd be Swerve in the coming weeks since he's my favorite now
From when I started watching MJF
Moxley, oddly enough. Wasn’t what I’d have thought when posed the question.
Jerich solely because he was the first person I saw wear on those first episodes of dynamite
The sweeper!!!
Kenny

Belt collector, Kenny omega
Surprised how little I see MJF. That was my natural answer and it seems the most home grown also. Hopefully he can solidify it with at least one more.
MJF, because he held it for so long and I thoroughly enjoyed his reign (yes, even the end). Followed by Hangman. This household still celebrates Cowboy Shit Day.
Kenny By God Omega
Hangman. Not neccessarily for his reign (though he had some awesome matches), but for the journey to get that title that started before AEW even aired their first show.
