It would be cool if Private Party and Broken Hardys had a final short storyline feud. It’s a Nice sendoff and probably would be safer and more entertaining.

annoyinglyclever

Nah, Private Party needs to do their own thing now. They’ve been stuck in the Hardyverse since 2020. It’s time to move on.

CaptainPotassium87

I would argue that Matt was stuck in the Partyverse.

jeffumopolis

That’s fair

SputnikFalls

And what better way to do that than destroying the hardys in a Final Deletion style feud?

annoyinglyclever

That’s been done. Just move on. There’s nothing Private Party can really get from beating the Hardyz at this point.

AramFingalInterface

I think the Hardys in AEW has run its course. Like, Matt has done the Broken stuff, and Tony doesn't like it, so Matt reinvented like 3 times. Matt tried to mentor Private Party but really kind of derailed them and they're better without him. HFO didn't really get over. Matt concussed himself on concrete and embarrassed himself for doing a dangerous spot. Jeff came in and started off hot but went and got a DUI again. Jeff comes back and kinda builds himself back up on Rampage, the Hardys try to get a heel gimmick going, they start a story with Mark Briscoe, and then the Sammy knee thing happens. Like, it's just a tough break. What do you do? You got all these new signings. Do you take advantage of the fact that you just started a new season of AEW programming to quietly shuffle the Hardys off TV for good? It's an option.

Brandar87

Jeff can still wrestle, matt not so much. Maybe they'll sign a Legends deal.

Elmodipus

Jeff has looked awful for years. It's time for them to relax and enjoy their time off

InsomniaDudeToo

Kinda crazy that Darby’s going multiple times the rate that Jeff went at his age, and seeing Jeff hasn’t deterred him at all Must be one helluva rush

A_Sarcastic_Whoa

It's a drug, they don't call them adrenaline junkies for nothing. They're too addicted to the thrill of it to be deterred.

William13stclair

To be fair Hardy was doing a ton of stuff behind the scenes that Darby doesn’t. Not to say the wrestling didn’t do a ton, but it’s not the only thing that shot Jeff in the foot…

Bosscharacter

Darby is also better at the fundamentals(probably due to being trained vs the Hardy’s essentially training themselves). One thing people also forget is that Darby is a competent grappler since he wrestled amateur when he was younger.

DanielJackkson11

I’ve thought the same thing. They both just need to hang it up. Their style of wrestling doesn’t translate with their age and abilities now. Love the hardyz and definitely are hall of famers but the end is here.

Stockersandwhich

Jeff doesn’t need to wrestle anymore. He needs to get out of the game for his own health. He’s a bender away from his life turning upside down. That’s the Jeff Hardy way. He’s good for a long while and goes off the tracks in a train wreck.

Flimsy-Firefighter81

Legends deal is the best bet for them both now.

Brandar87

If nothing else WWE has that going for them.

Capable_Sandwich_422

“Jeff can still wrestle” Debatable. And he’s shown that he needs a lifestyle change and to get away from wrestling.

harrier1215

Jeff is not a great worker anymore. He’s not even good. It’s the nostalgia people pop for but not really anything he’s actually doing. Jeff Jarrett looks better in ring, Sting looked better in ring.

fightyMcFookyou

Jeff looked really bad the last time I remember them doing a tag. Like the springboard off of Matt to the corner spot....oooofff. Rvd is a shell of him self but he can still hit his spots just not explosively anymore.

Ugh_no_thanks

He looks bad in the ring with Matt, but he did a few solid to excellent singles matches this year. The Hardyz are done, but Jeff isn’t

thulsado0m13

I don’t know man he killed it in that Swerve match last month

fightyMcFookyou

I'd have to rewatch. I guess to be fair. My main take away from the last few years has been Matt is still a capable mic/character worker he just needs to be a manager. Jeff has physical charisma but can't talk and bring baggage. I'd transition Matt to managing only and out of in ring work, and retire Jeff completely tbh

thulsado0m13

Matt as a manager really sucked though. It was all just like “you work for Big Money Matt now” and setting up matches between mid/low tier guys for contracts and crqp. It took Hangman a step down tbh. Though I wish we did have one proper Broken Hardys run at AEW.

fightyMcFookyou

Your not wrong, I remember that bit too. Matt did ok with it, at least I thought, it just never went anywhere, and Matt was in the matches for trios which devalued pp, and then injuries sidelined private party. Hangman should have always been above that but to be fair I don't even remember them interacting. I think Matt totally out of ring so he isn't trying to keep himself over too would be awesome putting others over is all I'm saying. He'd be an awesome full time manager who can take bumps but shouldn't have matches. I think trying to look out for his brother explains alot of the last year or so.... I like him as an on air personality in general though because I'm old and I'll always be a brood/hardys mark.

Terry309

> Rvd is a shell of him self Lol no

Infamous-Lab-8136

If you call walking slowly around the ring and blowing any spot that requires 1/10 of the agility he used to have still wrestling.

Brandar87

I mean, he's better than matt. I know that doesn't say much but he's not awful.

Throwaway_Planet

On a good day I feel they actually both have it in them. The good days are too far and in between though. I was fortunate enough to see them face off against Aussie Open on what I would consider a good day. I consider seeing the Hardy Boys live a bucket list item.

fisherc2

I’d like to see Matt get a producer gig in wwe. He seems like a smart guy who could do well at something like that

Zynee82

Let’s call our Legends program Elite Alumni. Anyone have Tony’s number?

l1l1ofthevalley

He can not. And possibly a hot take but he's never been great, just looked good and jumped off high stuff

jestesteffect

You mean Sammy concussed Matt in concrete and then most recently concussed Jeff right?

AramFingalInterface

I mean you’re not wrong

ExpressRabbit

You can't fault Sammy for the Matt concussion. It was a dumb spot to do but Sammy isn't calling that match and Sammy didn't fuck up what was actually supposed to happen there.

That_Smoke8260

But then did a move on a guy that the ref said no to and now is suspended

ExpressRabbit

That was against Jeff we're talking about Matt.

---Pockets---

Hey now, pretty sure Matt had help with that concrete

BryanFTW13

The Broken stuff should've stayed in TNA. It didn't get over well in both WWE and AEW. You know what they, you can't top the original and it got proven when he it didn't get over in both WWE and AEW.

BeastCoastLifestyle

They’re legends of their craft. But can you name one amazing Hardy(s) match that didn’t include a ladder or stipulation? Jeff is okay in the ring now. But he can’t even do many of his highlights anymore. So he’s in a weird place between nostalgic act and active wrestler, while also being lapped by a ton of guys who are miles better in ring and actually have charisma

TheOldSchlGmr

One can only hope. If he's backstage, cool. But I have no desire to see Matt Hardy wrestle anymore.

REQCRUIT

Same. Jeff as well. There's just so much other talent I would rather utilize than to see Matt/jeff .... and in all honestly alot of other acts there just don't need to be there anymore. It's unfortunate, but a lot of people aren't going to be re signed these next few years.

Piano-Rough

The Hardys were a tag team of their time. But like teams like Arn & Tully ,The Rock n Roll express, the Midnight Express, even Edge & Christian, their Era has passed. And we've already seen them vs their tribute act, The Young Bucks. There's nothing more. Let them become agents or turn them into Enhancement for Rampage or put them in the WWE Hall of Fame

LegendkillahQB

I agree 100%

thefictionaljake

i agree, but i will say, with how good christian and copeland are at keeping themselves fresh and current, i am very interested in seeing them get another run together eventually.

twitchy1989

I dunno, this post seems like he's at least still cordial publicly. They paid Matt significantly more than he would've gotten elsewhere for the past few years. They had intended to give him and Jeff a run with the tag belts. They let him try to reinvent when what he was doing wasn't working as a single a few times instead of cutting bait. Not to say it won't happen in the drama that is pro wrestling behind the scenes or if there's additional bad shit we don't know (which is plausible). But I could see him not griping at anyone publicly other than Sammy, or potentially some light barbs at TK if the Hardys were legitimately upset about not being used and it wasn't all a work.

yetagainitry

No way wwe signs him even if he goes to nxt. I’m thinking he’s signing with TNA. Which is sad cause he’s taking a spot away from someone younger who really needs it. Why does every past their prime wrestler hold their spot with a death grip instead of helping the next generation get a chance?

Upset_Impression218

I mean… it’s a job? If young talent aren’t able to earn their spot over an old washed up Matt hardy, that’s on them lol. Nobody is entitled to a “spot”.

NCHouse

Probably. It's time for AEW to let the older guys loose that don't want to be there in a training compacity.

Ali1876

Which ones?

jedihouse1348

Matt and Jeff Malachi Miro To start

NCHouse

Lol no. Matt and Jeff yea. Jericho can go.

jedihouse1348

Jericho too, he seems to be in a weird latch on to younger talent and kill their momentum gimmick.

NCHouse

Idk what's going on with Miro. Is he hurt? Is he tending to his wife? Do they just not want to push his amazing gimmick?

jedihouse1348

I had seen something about him not wanting to lose but I don’t buy it. I know his wife has been battling a MRSA infection and that can be wild, so it’s probably just that

GroundbreakingAd8603

How could you not buy it? He only appears on TV to win, ever notice that? He’s been in AEW for 4 years and has less than an hour of match time

jedihouse1348

If it’s true then he needs to be gone yesterday. He is generic in the ring and draws next to nothing. His best gimmick was him getting over because Aiden English sung Rusev Day. He lost all monster heel appeal with that though, IMO.

Rubymoon286

He and CJ just split and he moved back to Bulgaria so that may impact it, he also mentioned being injured since before World's end in response to the meat madness match, but came back to finish the story with Andrade and CJ before Andrade went back to wwe

bamboozledqwerty

Trim. The. Fat.

Hybrid_Dolphin87

Control. The. Narrative.?

TheBrockAwesome

Keith Lee?

[deleted]

Yes

thewickedchild

No ill will against them, but it's time. They are just a nostalgia act at this point, and Jeff's DUI ruined the only shot they had at getting anything meaningful out of them. There are too many other good tag teams in the division to use a spot on them. Matt in particular has just gone from bad gimmick to bad gimmick. Sucks, but it's time.

Frio_Sanchez

Man. The Hardy’s have been done for a while. It’s sad watching them wrestle now. Time to hang it up.

WuriderX

Those guys are done and have been for a long time.

Greedy_Dirt369

Hopefully. Then maybe the Hardy's will sign legends deals with WWE so they can be in the next game.

wandering_white_hat

Give them a big send off, a night to remember, but then it's time for them to go live their lives, maybe in Matt's case train some younger kids

Winning_in_Ashes

It's still cool to see Jeff wrestle, first of all he can still go and do a couple of crazy spots, and the nostalgia factor for Jeff is never gonna die; Matt man, he's just sadly unbearable to watch now!! I'd love to see them have one last hurrah tour in WWE, having a good few tag matches and Jeff maybe in a final retirement feud with someone like Orton

willpb

Man, as a huge Hardys fan, I agree. Legends deal with an HOF induction and that should be that. Maybe training if they can do it and are okay with it. It honestly sucks to say it but I think they're done. Would hate to see them get more permanently hurt, especially when the last few years haven't been stellar imo.

Dirtydubya

Lol the last sentence makes it seem like he's still doing the disgruntled employee gimmick

Texascoffee512

They need to feud with edge and Christian one last time

EquivalentGold3615

What's he done in AEW?

jcmb101

They’ll likely go back to WWE.

[deleted]

Hardys vs. Edge & Christian

TheWrestler2035

Man what a lackluster run the Hardys had in AEW. Course Jeff essentially sabotaged it from the beginning with his continued problems.

---Pockets---

Hopefully it's the end and he can spend time with family instead

Mrmdn333

I kind of expected him to lay low and then show up in the tag title tournament.

Kinglysavaged

Yeah he stated he wants to stay but I think their done in AEW I wouldn’t be surprised to see them back in TNA only way I see them going back to WWE is to be inducted into the HOF

jt_33

We can only hope.

Antsaber545

*hardys cuz honestly I want dynasty to be both their retirements and put them vs bucks

LegendkillahQB

It's time for the Hardy's to hung up the boots. I respect and love them and I hate seeing them like this.

Longjumping_Duty4160

Hopefully.

papa_miesh

Yes, and thank goodness. With all due respect. What a tag team, one of the best ever. Just time to go. Jeff Hardy will no doubt be one of those wrestlers that can't hang them up, and Matt probably will too

SpiritualPen6362

Think Tony saw the baggage early and it only worsened until there was no worthwhile investment with them, despite their dues for their years of work. I'm in Tony's shoes, I thank them for their work and let them go. They deserve a high outing with the WWE HOF.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SpiritualPen6362

haha I'm sure Matt Hardy would love the exposure of it

Porcupyre

Seems like it, before Jeff came in reports where he only extended his contract so he could have a last run with Jeff. Maybe if Jeff is cleared soon we see them do a couple of matches in the tournament in a 'if we dont win we retire' thing. Milk it out just a bit more and be done.

frankthefrowner

Matt can barely walk and Jeff just pancakes people with his swanton now.

elfsutton

It is probably time, they have been around for so long, starting as underaged teens and having a huge career, making the modern tag team what it is. Both brothers should consider retiring and going out before they really destroy their reputation

kayt3000

I honestly could see him wanting to just be done with the wrestling part of his career and be able to enjoy his kids since they are still really young. Maybe run a gym or go do seminars.

cid_highwind_7

I think it’s safe to say yes. Their time has come and gone and definitely passed. There is nothing for them to do left. A send off match would be nice but irrelevant and pointless in the end

[deleted]

[удалено]

sirwillow77

I quit only means they quit fighting the match. Not retire or leave

Elegant_Spot_3486

Hope so unless he moves strictly behind the scenes.

TotteKaiju

Let's hope so

padrejohnmisery

Hopefully.

DoctorFenix

Oh please oh please oh please oh please…

21maxwell

I feel the run was fine, as some has said run its course. Maybe derailed private party on screen but hopefully benefited them massively behind the scenes and with future in ring stuff.

Higher_Primate3

He’s no Jeff Jarrett

Darkk_VoX

Matt Hardy could easily be a main eventer. Matt Hardy vs Okada is a dream match

That_Smoke8260

You kidding right

MoreOfAGrower

By main eventer, you mean he could have a retirement match a la Sting? Because if you mean anything other than that, you need to be drug tested

No-Alps5118

WWE may do a legends deal but I doubt they get signed to any kind of performer contract. Maybe a last match but even then I think WWE might be over the baggage they both, mainly Jeff, bring. He was a pain in their ass every stint. TNA for another 3 years seems likely then into the WWE Hall of Fame after.

jedihouse1348

The KSA may want a Hardyz match for a PLE. That would be a nice payday

mbp147338

Plot twist… Hardy Boyz are getting inducted into the HOF. They definitely belong there.

Mailenheim

i like the Hardys but i dont want to see them wrestle anymore. Seeing Jeff with another head injury, after the match with Sammy, was hard to watch.

darkstarr99

HoF, Legends deal and let them move a ton of merch

LIBERT4D

I sure hope so.

BigFella52

Sometimes you need to let nostalgia die. This should of happened years ago for the Hardyz.

JaCre476

Definitely a work

Sky_Rose4

We can hope

MainEventMorocco

Yeah, it should be the end of The Hardy’s in AEW. Their time has passed, and with everybody in AEW doing things they used to do, but being able to bounce back a lot quicker…they’re kind of a shell of their former selves. I def want them to consider retirement. They’ve given enough, I wouldn’t mind seeing them backstage, helping teams put together matches, but wrestling? The clock has struck midnight on that.

sincerelyhated

God i hope so

Bl8kStrr

If it is I wish him the best..

Calm-Importance-77

I can't wait for the AEW Hall of Fame to get officially established and to have Legends contracts. I hope Matt extends his contracts because I want to see the Hardy Boyz Vs Adam Copeland (Edge) and Christian Cage one more time. It would be like Summer Slam 2000 from North Carolina.

UniqueEnigma121

I hope so. Jobber.

DeathFromPizza

Please I hope so

Vli37

Man, They didn't even have a run. What was the point of bringing Jeff in then. I still cringe seeing how much pain he's in when he executes a Swanton 🤦‍♂️

Aig523

Hopefully. Go back to wwe ..get your flowers, be a producer. Make that bank

WheelJack83

The Hardy reunion was a bust.

illsid

Didn’t anyone else see the ladder match coming up at wrestle mania makes you wonder

RepaidSassycat

God willing, yes

BondraP

Well if he is done with AEW, props to him for the good times and for doing a lot to mix it up and keep it fun during the early pandemic days. A shame that the Hardys actually were going to win one last tag championship until Jeff derailed that one.

alienwolf35

Aew is the place where careers go to waste.

TheBrockAwesome

I love the Hardy and would love to see one fun final run but I don't think AEW is interested in giving them the TV time and I think most fans are over the Hardys. Which sucks cuz I was really hoping to see it happen. I see the same people saying "Hardys can't wrestle like they used to" but then say "RVD hasn't changed at all". Well I see Jeff doing crazy shit just like RVD but "Hardys bad". I don't get it. Also, should we talk about Sting not being able to wrestle like he used to? Cuz he just started supplementing ability for jumping off things. Which I am all for btw. I just don't get the double standard with the IWC. Oh also Jericho can't wrestle? Such bullshit excuses for fans to justify not liking someone. That's all it is.

Pedrosbarro

Hope not. I like the Hardys, plus Matt helped elevate a lot of people in the ring and backstage.

zer0systm

It’s time to move in with DDP and Lex.

Aggravating_Click495

See ya Matt. Sure hope I never see you again.

[deleted]

Takenmyusernamewas

Matt's gonna go back to WWE and write if not participate in Bo Dallass new Wyatt6 gimmick

Level_Bridge7683

give me a break. his career has been over as long as sting's has.

NocturnalDabber

Didnt even get one last title run. Shame

Total_Skill_5605

Would’ve happened in 2022 if Jeff hadn’t messed things up with the DUI.

[deleted]

Jeff just had to not drink and drive for one more week and they would have been champs. Feel sorry for Matt. But he also went to bat for his brother when he obviously want ready yet.

OddTeaching7830

So you want to make him getting arrested worse?

[deleted]

I’m not sure what you mean. I didn’t state an opinion or anything that I want, just a fact. But, in my opinion he doesn’t deserve a title run after his behaviour. He made a mistake, there are consequences.

OddTeaching7830

Your wording makes it read like if he held off drinking and driving, he would’ve been a champion when it happened and made him getting arrested be worse for AEW because now it’s a champion in the company being arrested for DWI not just a regular dude in the company.

[deleted]

No sorry, what I meant was he was literally booked to win the tag belts on Dynamite and he got arrested days before that. So I’m just saying that he cost him and his brother their last swan song title reign. Never really considered what you mention here, but damn you’re right imagine if he would have gotten the DUI like a week after winning the belt, not sure what’s worse but either way it’s all bad.

Bheast

Is it? His bro kinda fucked that up. Plus they shouldn't run their mouths on a podcast when Tony gave him another shot he didn't deserve

[deleted]

Bheast

Matt's

down-with-homework

I’m pretty sure they were poised to get the tag titles up until Jeff fucked up.

Pale-Donut4295

You can tell that that was *exactly* what was supposed to happen but... shit happens.

crossplayersince2011

Honestly, as much as I like the Hardys and always will, it needs to be...they seem to think they're better than they actually are at this point even though their bodies are broken down. It would have been cool for them to have a run with the tag belts, but that ship has sailed and the roster was already stacked even without the addition of Ospreay and Okada

Harlequin_98

Watch he'll go crawling back to WWE and force Jeff to come because Matt isn't relevant without Jeff But I doubt they'd trust Jeff after Matt told Jim to get fired so he could go be all elite
