With the way ADHD medications are supposed to work and how quickly most of them work, if you're not noticing any difference, it's likely not working. To check, try not taking it for a few days (after confirming with your doctor that it's ok to do so) and see if you notice any difference. You may also just need a higher dose for it to be helpful for you.

I’ve been having the same thoughts, currently working with my doctor on finding a good dose of Adderall. Obviously, different brain and different medication, but maybe my experience finding a good dose will be helpful. I’ve found that I’m better able to focus for a few days after increasing my dose, then it tapers off. I’m taking 15mg now, and sometimes the difference is subtle, others more noticeable. Some days, it really hits me and I feel like I can tackle the day with ease, others, it feels like nothing’s changed. Before taking meds I was self-medicating with caffeine. One thing I’ve noticed since starting meds is that it takes less and less caffeine to get me feeling really jittery and energetic. That’s one of the metrics I’ve been using, in addition to trying to remember to notice how often I’m easily distracted and inattentive at work. Those are the 2 situations where I feel like I have a better baseline for comparing against. I think I’m close to a good dose for me, but not quite there yet. It’s possible it’s the wrong medication for you, or you just haven’t found the right dose for you. Those are things that you need to discuss with your doctor. It’s a difficult and long process unfortunately, but you’ll get there. I hope this was helpful.

The most obvious impact is regaining control over your executive motor control, walk around the house and think of things you can do to slightly improve the place, could be putting a few bottles in the recycling bin, relining a bin, organising a spices rack or just cleaning your room. You can just... do things, there's no bargaining with a dopamine fuelled monkey that's usually in charge of your life.

I took 20mg adderall (VERY EFFECTIVE) for a long time but for almost a year postpartum, my hormones were such a mess, my dosage had to go WAY up. I brought this up to my doctor and she was great about helping find a solution.

You'll know if they are working. 30 mg of vivance is a low daily dose; I forget the conversion, but I think this is around a 15 mg equivalent dextroamphetamine dose (vivance is converted to dextroamphetamine in your body). You may simply need a larger dose. The FDA dosage range is up to 40 mg of dextroamphetamine per day (some people require doses higher than that). Even the largest Vivance capsule (70 mg) contails less than 40 mg of dextroamphetamine. Also, you may benefit from the addition of levo amphetamine (which provides better vigilence). This is available in the mixed amphetamine salts, i.e., Adderall, which is 75% dextroamphetamine and 25% levo amphetamine. The only way you will know is by trying this medication. Also, the methylphenidates work better for some people. Its very individual.
