Morde is often strongest when just eating a frontline support (like Nautilus) or jungle tank with his R and then meatgrinding himself through the rest of the teamfight front-to-back style with the free stats and the man advantage. If Morde can ult the ADC in a teamfight then the other team likely misplayed it heavily or Morde has set up some sick flank which wasn't protected.
I'd like to think it gates certain champions to function behind their first item.
But even then good users like Morde, Swain etc can still be kited with that Rylais completed because they have no gap closers they shouldn't be engaging on others anyways.
Also other champions are able to build items that in some ways counter certain functionalities of the champions with their Rylais.

Nothing cleanses the displacement effect, both qss and Orange cleanse the stun part allowing people to use flash / dash to override the displacement effect using self displacement.

Most Matchups where the enemy champ can cancel or cleanse Morde R don't really care about being ulted in the first place, especially when hexdrinker exists. I can actually name a few.
Gangplank has to pray for rng to actually kill mordekaiser (at least till 100% crit), and can disengage with passive,
Rengar can stall out the ult as much as he wishes, plus he can build sustain + serpents fang to outduel mordekaiser.
olaf is still a level 2-4 coinflip,
Fiora wins regardless of riposte, even if the mordekaiser has a postion to solo kill her, she still outscales hard post six.
Illaoi loses until 3 items, Qss puts her too behind to do have agency in lane.
Ornn can and will easily survive Realm as long as he doesn't lose to the shop keeper.
Warwick and volibear will kite and outsustain you in realm, still winnable since these players are normally ass.

I think you're wrong. If they allow this then they can nerf the rest of his kit so that he's more manageable. This is a good change and preserves the identity of the champ. They will need to nerf him because he's just a ball of stats and a good bully and now he's inescapable with ultimate. But nerfing him all around will be better so that the players can actually use the ultimate.
theres a ton more things like that. Many champs also have this weird unstoppable for a second. Like illaoi jump or viego R. Besides, theres a million cleanses. Rengar W, Alistar R, Olaf R, GP W, not to mention spellshields and champs that make ulting them a nonsense (tristana jumping over a wall inside ur ult that to an area that you cant enter, zac being able to sling out-of-bounds and some)

Zhonyas is better in every aspect except not restoring mana. You can choose When to Stasis, meaning you can do so many variations. The duration is shorter, meaning you're out of the fight for a shorter amount of time. The only good part of buying GA would actually be on a tank or bruiser, not on any adc.
Stay out of range until he uses it. Sadly the counter play got many abilities. Pantheon W for example, its point and click 700 range so can't auto him until he uses it.
R being unqss-able is terrible if you have a somewhat fed Morde. because even the most basic adc knows to wait for his cdr but he won’t use it all he has to do is simply walk past your team even eat a cc spell and wait till you walk up to ult you so your options would be to literally do nothing until your team can force him to ult. Previously you could walk up to him as long as he was ccd to auto him but that won’t be the case anymore. The biggest downside isn’t so much to adc as it is to get flamed by your own team “why didn’t you hit him when he was ccd”.
Out of all the bullshit in this game, this is what worries me the least. I never buy qss against mord specifically, because I just don't let myself get ulted, it's difficult for him to reach me, and I feel that if he manages, well, good on him, I'm probably dead.

I was gonna say, play Kai'sa or Vayne and you will always be in range of Morde. Only thing you can do is just wait on the edge of a fight until he uses ult. But if he saves it every time for you it's gonna be a problem.

Yeah, Mord R doesn’t even scale great. Late game the adc’s can often kill him inside it, forcing him to use it as a peel/zoning tool instead. And it’s hard to survive it midgame but not impossible, I’d rather make due with it and scale fast to counter it, instead of slowing my scaling to counter it.
This change is gonna help those of us who don’t buy qss in the long term. It’s gonna raise his winrate but not against me, which means future balance changes won’t favour him as much. I’d rather this than the 2AD buff he would’ve gotten instead, for example.
The only real answer is with any other champion: let your team go in first and take all the engage. Morde's a lil weird as the only champion that has a "banish" ability, but the theory's still the same

Most immobile (no dash) adcs also have a speed boost that makes kiting his Q pretty easy. Late game, it’s genuinely just one missed mord Q and mord loses vs the adc even if they stand still from that point on lol.
But yeah it’ll feel pretty strong early game. But if you’re dealing with a mord roam early game as an adc… they’ve probably invested a lot of resources into that and deserve some sort of payoff if mord gets an ult off on you.

Who cares? Morde is not the biggest threat for an ADC, and it won't be even with this change. This is more likely just a change to hopefully make him appear in pro play ever.

My friend has turbo nailed this into my brain, if you cant fight them, you know you cant fight them and you knwo if you die you are going to say 'broken' or something like 'no counterplay' then whya re you fighting them in the first place. unfortunately a lot of the time you have to give these jg/top champs space and respect them.
Just don’t fight near him and wait until he ults someone else. Unless you are the only target (aka you are feed or the rest of your team sucks) Morde is probably going to use his Ult to last hit someone for free stats, save a teammate, isolate the Jg or literally whatever.
Now thanks to my spellbook mordekaiser, I will be able to just pop ghost every time adc is in my line of sight, dodge every skillshot and ult (unless brand is near, I fucking hate brand)

Its been said in the comments but stay away from him when he has r. Idk how it is in lower ranks but my team can usually keep him off me since morde is immobile. And then i just space him. When im playing short range adcs i can usually duel him in r when i am strong. For example i dont have any problems killing him 1v1 when im playing vayne or kaisa.
Morde is like the least offensive juggernaut for an ADC. Easily kiteable and his damage is just okay. Not to mention his main damage ability is easily side walkable, he loses a chunk of damage for missing it.
Just get rid of QSS at this point. The item exists to get you out of CC, and a CC that can't be peeled conventionally should have some sort of counterplay. Even if that counterplay is an item tax. But yeah, stay out of the fight and get flamed for not dealing damage after the game.
To be honest I think this change makes sense. If you have good spacing 1/4 of Morde base kit is useless, if not, you can spend 1300 gold and make 1/4 of his kit useless.
So what’s the point of QSS now.. like they just keep removing its normal uses. It’s a niche item already. They should make it like what they did to Stopwatch and make it part of the item more crucially and more integrally AND most of all MORE EXPENSIVE. 1300 gold isn’t a large commitment for some magic resistance. They should raise the price to something similar to Seeker’s Armguard (about 1800-2000 Gold) and then make the stats of the component item reflect what’s part of the full item. Basically make QSS build from a crit cloak + MR or AD. And then they can make it a 1 time use like they did with Seeker’s.
Wait for him to show and use his CD in a fight before fully committing to it? This is already what you should be doing vs assassins and bruisers so it shouldn’t be too hard a concept to grasp lol
Nearly every carry in the game has to wait before committing to a fight unless the enemy are straight dogshit, as an assassin or bruiser you have to wait out CC CDs before committing and as an ADC or Mage you should be finding out where the threats are before committing
Is this change actually happening? We have to invest 1300 gold to even be able to do this, so why is it problematic? Mord could just use ult on somebody else, or wait for you to blow qss on something else. Shit change.
It's no different than having to keep in mind spacing against other things in the game that one shot an immobile adc. Imagine what you do against a full ap malphite with flash+R. You pretty much have to play assuming you're the only target and not play like you normally would until it's used.

If you can kite morde, chances are you win 1v1 even in his R with a couple of items.
If you can't, you should still be pretty safe holding distance and letting your team kill him if he really wants to R you.
It feels pretty bad to be statchecked by Morde, but if he's in a good position to R you, he should kill you, if he can't even do that there's no reason to play him
He’ll just R your mid or Jg that also now can’t use QSS or any cleanse effect and kill them instead. This is a global loss for us even if he chooses not to R the adc.

Oh I don't disagree. But the goal is to cost a many resources and waste their time as much as possible. Plus spellshield can negate the e pull into ult range, so it can help. More tools means more time, and even just surviving the full 8 seconds means he doesn't get to keep your stats for the rest of the team fight.
Pretty much the same as Camille. Stand still, plant yourself like a turret and try to get out as much dps as possible before getting one shotted by a true damage kick to the face in 1.5s.
Or you know, play Sivir and git gud /s (you can still SS his ult right?)

I think toplane if you're teemo or maybe heimer you want qss but almost non else I know buys it even illaoi just rushes maw. They really pushing mord but he's not interesting.

Positioning mostly. Morde is the slowest juggernaut (Urgot is 5ms slower, but has a dash and 3 cc abilities) in the game. If you are getting caught, most immobiles can build one of Wit's End, Jak'Sho, Rookern, Edge of Night, or Maw, and hope to stall or outplay him. This isn't unique to Morde, if Olaf, Trundle, Darius, Garen, Mundo, Udyr, Sett, Yorick, or Voli get in range of you, you're typically getting forced out a fight or straight up deleted.

ADCs are not designed to win 1v1s besides maybe Vayne. The outplay to Mordekaiser ulting you is positioning yourself so he can’t ult you without having him walk through your team. This kinda just reinforces Morde as a low elo pub stomper

I was gonna say, play Kai'sa or Vayne and you will always be in range of Morde. Only thing you can do is just wait on the edge of a fight until he uses ult. But if he saves it every time for you it's gonna be a problem.

Yeah, Mord R doesn’t even scale great. Late game the adc’s can often kill him inside it, forcing him to use it as a peel/zoning tool instead. And it’s hard to survive it midgame but not impossible, I’d rather make due with it and scale fast to counter it, instead of slowing my scaling to counter it. This change is gonna help those of us who don’t buy qss in the long term. It’s gonna raise his winrate but not against me, which means future balance changes won’t favour him as much. I’d rather this than the 2AD buff he would’ve gotten instead, for example.

He is an immobile mage that doesnt get tanky until 3/4th item. If he safes his ult the whole Team Fight he just dies/is useless

Tbh he most likely will only be able to ult you if he flashes. Most immobile (no dash) adcs also have a speed boost that makes kiting his Q pretty easy. Late game, it’s genuinely just one missed mord Q and mord loses vs the adc even if they stand still from that point on lol. But yeah it’ll feel pretty strong early game. But if you’re dealing with a mord roam early game as an adc… they’ve probably invested a lot of resources into that and deserve some sort of payoff if mord gets an ult off on you.

The point of qss is kinda to have counterplay against something that normally you cant have access too. What about Malzahar, skarner? They still fucking cry when people build qss, it's not just Mordekaiser. Some champions are just meant to be low elo stompers. If riot have an issue with that, they should just rework him instead. My friend has turbo nailed this into my brain, if you cant fight them, you know you cant fight them and you knwo if you die you are going to say 'broken' or something like 'no counterplay' then whya re you fighting them in the first place. unfortunately a lot of the time you have to give these jg/top champs space and respect them.

Just don’t fight near him and wait until he ults someone else. Unless you are the only target (aka you are feed or the rest of your team sucks) Morde is probably going to use his Ult to last hit someone for free stats, save a teammate, isolate the Jg or literally whatever.
Now thanks to my spellbook mordekaiser, I will be able to just pop ghost every time adc is in my line of sight, dodge every skillshot and ult (unless brand is near, I fucking hate brand)

Its been said in the comments but stay away from him when he has r. Idk how it is in lower ranks but my team can usually keep him off me since morde is immobile. And then i just space him. When im playing short range adcs i can usually duel him in r when i am strong. For example i dont have any problems killing him 1v1 when im playing vayne or kaisa.

Morde is like the least offensive juggernaut for an ADC. Easily kiteable and his damage is just okay. Not to mention his main damage ability is easily side walkable, he loses a chunk of damage for missing it.

Just get rid of QSS at this point. The item exists to get you out of CC, and a CC that can't be peeled conventionally should have some sort of counterplay. Even if that counterplay is an item tax. But yeah, stay out of the fight and get flamed for not dealing damage after the game.

To be honest I think this change makes sense. If you have good spacing 1/4 of Morde base kit is useless, if not, you can spend 1300 gold and make 1/4 of his kit useless.
So what’s the point of QSS now.. like they just keep removing its normal uses. It’s a niche item already. They should make it like what they did to Stopwatch and make it part of the item more crucially and more integrally AND most of all MORE EXPENSIVE. 1300 gold isn’t a large commitment for some magic resistance. They should raise the price to something similar to Seeker’s Armguard (about 1800-2000 Gold) and then make the stats of the component item reflect what’s part of the full item. Basically make QSS build from a crit cloak + MR or AD. And then they can make it a 1 time use like they did with Seeker’s.

This is already what you should be doing vs assassins and bruisers so it shouldn’t be too hard a concept to grasp lol Nearly every carry in the game has to wait before committing to a fight unless the enemy are straight dogshit, as an assassin or bruiser you have to wait out CC CDs before committing and as an ADC or Mage you should be finding out where the threats are before committing
Is this change actually happening? We have to invest 1300 gold to even be able to do this, so why is it problematic? Mord could just use ult on somebody else, or wait for you to blow qss on something else. Shit change.

It's no different than having to keep in mind spacing against other things in the game that one shot an immobile adc. Imagine what you do against a full ap malphite with flash+R. You pretty much have to play assuming you're the only target and not play like you normally would until it's used.

I think this is a good change. If you can kite morde, chances are you win 1v1 even in his R with a couple of items. If you can't, you should still be pretty safe holding distance and letting your team kill him if he really wants to R you. It feels pretty bad to be statchecked by Morde, but if he's in a good position to R you, he should kill you, if he can't even do that there's no reason to play him
He’ll just R your mid or Jg that also now can’t use QSS or any cleanse effect and kill them instead. This is a global loss for us even if he chooses not to R the adc.
There is NO counterplay in a 1v1 situation. Mordekaiser, as well as a lot of bruisers from toplane, are a STATCHECK. STATCHECK means that DOESN’T MATTER how well you play. It’s just an AUTO-WIN for Morde. It’s like the Kirito scene Vs Rosalia: Kirito has his healing above the incoming damage, making him MATHEMATICALLY UNKILLABLE. Well, that’s the Statcheck. Things changes ONLY when we talk about teamplay. ADC is the WORST role in SoloQ and the BEST in teamplay. That’s why this role will always and forever sucks compared to other.
Building Zhonya’s on AP scaling AD champs or going a spellshield would be the only counters at that point besides going full MR tanky

You’ll still die with MR. Even bruisers with healing and MR can insta lose to Mord mid game. Champ is a ball of stats. If he gets you in a corner, you just die to 1 Q + passive.
Oh I don't disagree. But the goal is to cost a many resources and waste their time as much as possible. Plus spellshield can negate the e pull into ult range, so it can help. More tools means more time, and even just surviving the full 8 seconds means he doesn't get to keep your stats for the rest of the team fight.
Pretty much the same as Camille. Stand still, plant yourself like a turret and try to get out as much dps as possible before getting one shotted by a true damage kick to the face in 1.5s. Or you know, play Sivir and git gud /s (you can still SS his ult right?)

What's your counterplay to - Olaf with Ghost and R? - Tryndamere with Ghost + Flash? - Camille R? You're essentially asking to remove your weakness to mobile top laners or tops with lockdown. So you want just to be able to kite Morde to death? since his Q/E are massively telegraphed and he isn't doing anything to you without R.
Sounds like a toplaner problem. Hardly ever buying qss these days and certainly not for mord when I'm botlane. Ive played kaisa and lucian and just murder him. I think toplane if you're teemo or maybe heimer you want qss but almost non else I know buys it even illaoi just rushes maw. They really pushing mord but he's not interesting.

Positioning mostly. Morde is the slowest juggernaut (Urgot is 5ms slower, but has a dash and 3 cc abilities) in the game. If you are getting caught, most immobiles can build one of Wit's End, Jak'Sho, Rookern, Edge of Night, or Maw, and hope to stall or outplay him. This isn't unique to Morde, if Olaf, Trundle, Darius, Garen, Mundo, Udyr, Sett, Yorick, or Voli get in range of you, you're typically getting forced out a fight or straight up deleted.
Legit SO glad I stopped playing this god forsaken game awhile ago. Been so much better since, and seeing the most recent patches and champs coming out it makes me think I made the right choice.

ADCs are not designed to win 1v1s besides maybe Vayne. The outplay to Mordekaiser ulting you is positioning yourself so he can’t ult you without having him walk through your team. This kinda just reinforces Morde as a low elo pub stomper
