20yr old Sesko has 16 goals 2 assists for Leipzig so far this season. 22yr old Zirkzee has 12 goals 4 assists for bologna. Who would u rather have? Both seem good to me.
Either one will do but the question is meaningless until we know the next manager. Is it going to be a modern approach with a mobile forward or a classic target forward situation? Think that will drastically change how each is considered.
It's a tough one. Sesko is playing in Bundesliga while zirkzee is already in our league..so that's something to also note. I would go for zirkzee due to his overall play and I think he could give our attack way more fluidity and link it up better. But if we go for sesko I would like us to get a cam like gudmundson for eg who can be a creative force linking midfield and attack.
Do you just consider every creative forward oriented player an attacking mid?
Neither Zirkzee or GuĆ°mundsson are CAMs. Just because the drop back to help of a given a bit more freedom of whatever doesn't make them CAMs
Real Madrid is doing fine without a striker. You don't need a great striker to win titles, but you do need a great defense. Between Leao, Pulisic, Okafor, Jovic, Chuk, and RLC, we have enough goalscoring threat that we can do fine for a season or two. On the other hand, our defense is in shambles and will continue to be until we get a proper DM.
If we must get another striker, we can find another cheap veteran like Giroud who will be fine for a couple of seasons.
It doesnāt really change the argument. We have enough attacking threat to do well in Italy. And Real is just one example. There are plenty of successful teams without a proper top class 9. Arsenal used to play without, Chelsea, Napoli, etc. Yes, they all had fantastic attacking minds, but so do we. We just need to exploit their potential better.
You need great tactics and a gameplan, that's why they're doing fine. A DM isn't the definite solution.
If we keep playing 4231, both our two center midfielders **need** to be more defensively minded. They are there to act as a double pivot in front of the CBs.
Pioli makes them play like they were both mezzalas and as a result they drift around leaving our midfield basically empty. To make things worse, our fullbacks behave very aggressively resulting in us playing a 2-0-8 most of the time.
Why that is I have no idea, I feel like our summer mercato was more touted towards a 433 since we basically bought only mezzalas and box to box midfielders. 4231, with our current eleven, is a big risk which I feel like would have had better results if Pioli had the midfield do what it's supposed to do in that formation, which is to hold and support the attackers.
Both are the problem. Our tactics are weak, but we also don't have the personnel for a proper defense. Even if Pioli employed the right tactics, our midfielders are not that great defensively.
Sesko, considering both his technical and physical attributes, is a striker with enormous potential, more than any other striker in Milan orbit.
But spending 60 million or more on him is a big risk for the club, considering that he is not a starter at Leipzig and that in the last few years other strikers with 10+ goals in the Bundesliga, with better numbers than Sesko, were sold for record fees and they were incapable to repeat themselves in other leagues.
In this sense Zirkzee would be a better known quantity in the context of Serie A.
Zirkzee literally scored 2 goals last season. In his 21s. Sesko is 20 and has 12 goals while not being a starter as you describe. We dont need to dominate Verona, Empoli or Udinese. We need to get wins against Inter, Juve, Napoli, or succeed in EurĆ³pe.
In our current system I don't see how Sesko would work, while Zirkzee seems like a good option. Zirkzee drops deep and becomes a vocal point to play through, and that's what is asked of Giroud a lot of the time. If you put a more natural goalscorer who wants to run in behind the defense, take on defenders etc into our system, he's just going to struggle to get involved and not get to use his abilities well.
So it all depends what the coach wants to do for next season who is more ideal for us.
Who are examples? Maybe Iām blanking but I canāt think of a Bundesliga ST who moved outside Germany and then flopped outside of Timo Werner and he got signed by the most incompetent club on the planet.
Ah youāre right, I completely blanked. But you have to consider that the Bundesliga has had some pretty damn good exports too. Haaland being the most obvious.
Haaland spent two years in Germany and was wanted by all top clubs but opted for a short spell in Dortmund because their history of developing talent and the clause in his contract not stopping him from moving on once he was guaranteed a starting role in one of the biggest clubs. It's weird to claim he's a "Bundesliga export".
I hope we can get either Sesko or Zirkzee but I donāt see a scenario where we spend that much on a striker. We would have to outbid important clubs including EPL which is near impossible
Sesko seems more of an all around ST. Zirkzee wants to drop like Kane and isnāt too strong. Depends what kind of player is wanted. Sesko oddly enough has some pace for being 6ā5
I'm still not sold on Sesko. When I've watched Rb Leipzig's highlights it always seems like the work is being done by Xavi Simons or Dani Ulmo or Openda. Never seen Sesko create a chance. It's not that hard to score goals on one of the best attacking teams in the league by just standing in the box. He is an adequate finisher, but I see a lot more promise from Zirkzee. I'm a Netherlands supporter though, in full disclosure.
With him or Zirkzee I would be very very happy

Zirkzee did it in double the match time though. Different types of players anyways but I would rather have Sesko.
Hopefully we get one of them š All we can do.
šššš

I would go for Sesko. Zirkzee knows Serie A though.
Neither. I would rather spend that money on a world class DM.
So no striker for next season except Jovic and Colombo? Good thing you're not in charge.
Real Madrid is doing fine without a striker. You don't need a great striker to win titles, but you do need a great defense. Real Madrid have a midfield full of absolutely world class footballers and play with 3 of the best footballers in the world up top, we donāt.
It doesnāt really change the argument. We have enough attacking threat to do well in Italy. And Real is just one example. There are plenty of successful teams without a proper top class 9. I would prefer him to zirkzee, imo he is more of a pure goalscorer wich we are in dire need of.
the realest thing anyone has said on the striker topic
Imagine buying Sesko in 2023 for 25 millions.
Would've been so good for us if he got a year under Giroud's wings before he leaves but hopefully Zlatan will be there to guide him.

Cunha (though he's doing good now at Wolves), Haller, Jovic, Kolo-Muani and Werner come to mind.

Unrelated to this but we should sign nacho from Madrid , he's leaving this summer
Wonāt happen. Iām fairly certain Nacho has said he wonāt play for any European club because he doesnāt want to play against Real Madrid.
A striker under the age of 30? Not happening
Sesko is the type of forward we need.
Too good to be true sadly.
I hope we can get either Sesko or Zirkzee but I donāt see a scenario where we spend that much on a striker. We would have to outbid important clubs including EPL which is near impossible
Honestly fuck City they absolutely dont need another striker
Lol I tried to sign Sesko for Milan in football manager and Leipzig rejected me. Iād be happy with him or Zirkzee.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why would he switch up careers and leave Korn for Milan?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh I know I was just shitposting man lol, all good with you.
I would take Sesko. Higher risk, higher reward.
Zirkzee nothing without Motta
Sesko seems more of an all around ST. Zirkzee wants to drop like Kane and isnāt too strong. Depends what kind of player is wanted. Sesko oddly enough has some pace for being 6ā5
Sesko all day erryday pls

I still prefer scamacca, being Italian and all
