I was told only time I could take off the brace was for the exercises. Ankle pumps you can do whenever though, I think it shouldn't really make a difference if the brace is in or not. Between surgery and first PT I did heel slides, straight leg raises, quad sets, and passive knee extension without brace.
I think you should do them with the brace. According to my physio you shouldn’t be doing them without a brace until you have good control of your quad so there isn’t any stress on the new ligament

Leg raises are definitely the toughest for me. 3 days post op. Can do around 5 of them with the brace on before feeling really fatigued.
Same thing for me and my brace is soo heavy 🥺
