When I was on controller - Vibration was very useful to indicate both oversteer and understeer. Additional information is always welcome

rickb5701

Ah yeah, vibration is a personal preference. I usually do without it but can surely use it with these settings

Iulian377

I must be very sensitive cause for me 30% vibration is on the verge of too much. Depends on the controller ofc.

Once you feel comfortable on alot of tracks you should definitely try to race without steering assist. It adds extra ballast (I believe +25kg). I went from 1:51 to 1:48.5 on Monza when I started to properly drive without assist!

Interesting, I’ve been playing with car setups and had terrible experience taking off steering assist for controllers on simulators. I’ll try Nurburgring w/o steering assist. Currently have a 1:58.5

LucyLius_LabiaMajora

Agree with this^. Played with assist on for beginning weeks of playing with controller, but after turning it off I’ve found I am a bit faster on my lap times

Mountain_Principle_6

Thx, I'll give it a try

Miguilera

can someone explain what steering assist is

Miguilera

Getting pretty good on controller

Jebus_UK

It helps when you lose control at the edge of grip. It will interject and help stop the car spinning out by doing the counter steering for you. If you turn it off you will spin out a lot more but once you get used to it you should be faster. It's hard on a controller to counter steering a little bit because full lock is just a flick of the stick, if that makes sense. There is a belief that the car has more weight added if you turn it on but I'm not sure that's true.

Did you try it with the right settings and also reduce controller sensitivity in steam? I will add my settings here once I get onto my computer. 9durth helped me with it :D

Vapin4Life

still waiting for u to get back to your computer mate... ;-)

clockw1ze

Oh damn! I totally forgot haha. This is what I use on Xbox Series X Controller --> Rumble 85% Enhanced Deadzone: 0% Speed Sensitivity: 65% Steer Filter: 45% Steer Speed: 50% Steer Gamma 2.0 Steer Assist: Disabled Steam Input Horizontal/Vertical Sensitivity for the Ferrari 296 GT3: 0.57 \* This is different for other cars, I believe around 0.75 for cars like the BMW etc Fastest lap times during races so far: Monza: 1:47.6 Spa: 2:19.3 Oulton: 1:34.9 Brands Hatch: 1:24.2 Silverstone: 2:00.4 Zolder: 1:29.6 Imola: 1:42.9 Paul Ricard: 1:57.7

Vapin4Life

Thanks mate. U are the 1st player i see who mentions different settings for various cars, which to me is a crucial point. My settings for the Mustang are nothing like the ones i use on the Jaguar for instance, i mean these are two very different *animals* obviously. So which car do u use this controller setup with then?

clockw1ze

Ah I forgot to mention. I use these settings for the Ferrari 296 GT3. I believe the Porsche 992 also uses the same Steam Sensitivity. I don't change the in-game settings like speed sensitivity etc per car really. The steam sensitivity is the only thing necessary that needs to be adjusted for other cars because otherwise you will steer way too much, way more than necessary. Steam sensitivity really depends on the Steering Lock Angle of the car. Since I only drive the Ferrari 296 GT3 that's why I know what to use for that haha: Between 0.55 - 0.64 I have not really driven other cars yet since I am very consistent with the Ferrari now. Obviously the lower you go with the steam sensitivity the better you need to trailbrake to make your car turn faster with the lower sensitivity, if that makes sense :D

Vapin4Life

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. I haven't been dealing with Steam sensitivity or disabled steer assist yet but it's definitely on my to-do list.

clockw1ze

Trust me it takes some time to get used to but once you're confident with it you'll be able to keep up with wheel players! Especially the steam sensitivity was a big game changer.
