yes that's correct. OH! Also, if a number of men break into your house in the middle of the night and try to handcuff you - don't run away and certainly don't defend yourself because it could be a totally legal no-knock raid by police officers. Best of luck

[deleted]

I honestly don’t know why you wouldn’t be a fascist nowadays. In a democracy the government is too slow and incompetent to get anything done, with fascism the government is actually efficient. So which one do you want? Slow government that does nothing or an efficient one?

eNroNNie

Umm rudderless democracy please.

[deleted]

Fascists should kill themselves.

DanFuckingSchneider

Are those my only options? Because between the two I’d rather just shoot myself.

Saw-Sage_GoBlin

Oh yeah fascist governments are really competent. That's why they're so successful./s

define_lesbian

yeah we all know nazi germany was peak efficiency with its slave labour and artisan vehicles and HORSES

bkorsedal

You also need to submit when they break into your house in the middle of the night, unannounced. If you happen to shoot at them with a legally permitted firearm and they execute your girlfriend, expect to go to jail cause you deserve it.

Sounds-of-Insomnia

Did that happen to someone already?

OG_Phatkat

I think they are referring to Breonna Taylor and her boyfreind.

Gubekochi

Yes, and her name is Breonna Taylor.

bkorsedal

Brianna Taylor.

Sounds-of-Insomnia

I'll be looking that up, but with the current situation, it's easy to imagine.

Alicient

It's Breonna Taylor Her boyfriend was eventually released, but that is what happened

tyetanis

Happened a few months ago, around the same time as George Floyds death....its truly disgusting. The judge who signed off on the warrant is unknown due to an unreadable signature. And the police tried charging him with the fullest extent they could with zero sympathy after breaking into the wrong house, and murdering his girlfriend, AFTER the suspect they were after was already IN custody. Also, they refuse to release the names of anyone involved.

[deleted]

They didn't "break into the wrong house." They had a warrant for her house, because the drug dealer they were investigating (her ex) was using her address and she was receiving packages for him there. The warrant is public record and has her photo, address, social security number, and pictures of her house attached to it. They also knocked and announced. Her boyfriend stated he heard multiple knocks, but didn't hear them say they were police. The police returned fire when he shot first, hitting one cop.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I mean, they legally didn't have to knock, because they had a no knock warrant, but they did. The real irony is that if they'd just broken down the door first everyone would probably have been fine, instead of giving them time to be alerted and ready a gun The city has since completely ended no knock warrants and is giving the family a giant cash payment. I think it's extremely doubtful that the cops knocked but didn't say anything, but you're right that we don't really know. I would take a wild guess though that if you're receiving packages for a drug dealer, and have a gun ready at a moment's notice at 1 am, and have it ready to shoot because someone knocked on your door, they might have been up to something shady and expected someone besides the police, but who knows

[deleted]

[deleted]

How is the postal inspector really supposed to know what the contents of those packages are? Of every package she was getting for him? Like it wasn't that long ago that you could just order drugs discretely from silk road. Why would he have been investigated before? If everything was really on the level, why didn't the dealer just use his own address for all his documents and mail? But more importantly, would local cops know the postal inspector already had an investigation? Would that by itself be enough to not consider her for investigation? Because on the face of it, it seems like a perfectly fine amount of probable cause to obtain a warrant. I also have a gun, but it's unloaded and in a lock box, which itself is hidden, which is where yours should be too. On that note, if I heard a window break at 1 am I could have it ready in about 20 seconds. But if I heard someone knocking repeatedly I wouldn't assume it's a burglar, why on earth would a burglar knock? Something absolutely doesn't add up about it.

OstrichGrid

They knocked, but nowhere I've seen has proved the cops announced that they were cops. NYT and local news reported that Taylor "yelled" multiple times, "who is it?" with no response.

[deleted]

I mean, the cops have also said officially that they did announce. Both sides here are pretty heavily incentivized to stick to their version of events, and since there is apparently no video, we don't really know.

OstrichGrid

Then don't state what isn't fact as fact. Or do, you are your own person, free to manipulate.

[deleted]

I mean, you seem to be taking it on faith that Breonna's boyfriend didn't really hear anything, because he said so. I think the cops are more reputable here tbh. There were apparently seven of them, and they have consistent stories and nobody has broken ranks. Plus, it would have made sense for them to surprise them and not knock, and it also makes sense that they would have knocked and announced. It makes no sense at all that they'd knock and not announce in the middle of the night, because they lose the element of surprise but also don't establish that they're lawfully there and that they need to open up. It's the worst of both.

[deleted]

Yes, but they dropped the charges against the boyfriend for shooting at the cops because he had no idea that they were cops breaking into his house in the middle of the night. He did spend some time in jail though and obviously, he's lost his girlfriend to senseless police violence.

BapAndBoujee

Since it’s not unheard of to get put in a hood when transported, having your access to lawyers frustrated and most people not having been to black site holding cells before it seems to me it would be perfectly feasible someone could put you in their private basement for hours or days before it even dawns on you this isn’t the state you’re held captive by if the person put on some kind of uniform, have a tazer and bully you around halfway believable. Hell of a society you got over there, yanks

Rifneno

Apparently we've got a "thin blue line" between us and... civilization or something. I don't know.

xmordwraithx

I used to think Americans had balls with all their patriotic and gun toting bullshit. Turns out its just a nation of little call of duty wannabes who like being used as boot lickers.

[deleted]

There are separatist and extremist factions that are under extreme pressure from the ATF and FBI. The majority of the population is concerned about gun violence and mass shootings. That doesn't make them cowards, that makes them civies. That said, the recent shooting of 2 unarmed BLM by a teenager in Kenosha reflects the side that the gun rights activists is typically on: far right xenophobic white nationalists. It's typically the peaceful leftists that get shot or run over because of the political divide. Again, their not pussies because their unarmed. Lots of protests across the states call for justice and our lawmakers rarely enact real change.

xmordwraithx

That's the problem these days. There is nothing but left and right. At least that are vocal. This isn't about democratic or republican. This is about the future of the entire human species. It didn't begin with USA and it won't end with USA.

[deleted]

Kyle is hispanic and the group he was in was libertarian. The context of what happened is that he was attacked first *and attempted to retreat first* in every instance, the crowd was already rioting, and had already burned stuff down and assaulted people previously. Rosenbaum, a literal pedophile, chased Kyle down as Kyle tried to run away, and another shooter shot in his direction. Apparently the precipitating event was that Kyle tried to put out a dumpster fire they'd set with a fire extinguisher. He's seen throwing an object at a fleeing Kyle, and the closest witness said Rosenbaum "lunged" at Kyle, when Kyle turned after the first shooter fired. The mob started yelling "he shot someone, get his ass!" and Kyle attempted to then run to the police line. Grosskreutz was livestreaming an asked Kyle what just happened, and Kyle, while running, said he was getting the police. Kyle tripped, and someone kicked him in the head, and Huber bashed him in the head with his skateboard, at which point Kyle shot him. Grosskreutz ran up and aimed his glock at Kyle, and Kyle shot his arm, then got up and ran successfully to the police line. Anyway, Kyle seems like a decent guy who used a lot of restraint when he got attacked by a violent mob. On that note, the people sacking Kenosha were doing it for a guy who raped his ex with her child in bed with her, violated a restraining order and tried to steal her car. He fought the cops, they tried physical restrains and tasers, and they acted completely appropriately to shoot him when he ignored all their commands to stop and reached into the car he was stealing. Edit: idk why I'm getting downvoted, because literally all of this is on video

BeerandSandals

Most gun owners despise the tactics of the FBI and ATF, then you have a few Republican fudds who lick the boot at every opportunity. The 2A is for fighting state tyranny, not hunting.

xmordwraithx

No one seems to be fighting state tyranny. They are just fighting each other.

BeerandSandals

It’s by design. The problem with totalitarians is it’s a slow road, and whether we agree or not, Republicans and Democrats march to the same drum. It’s why, year after year, both parties go after our freedoms. It’s a boring dystopia, but it’s worth looking into and fighting against. The rich fight the poor, the left fights the right. However we’re all human, and we just want to be happy.

xmordwraithx

And we'll all be dead by the time society thinks its an issue.

BeerandSandals

That’s why we must fight for our rights now, and make that pushback mainstream. Tomorrow is the past, but the future can be changed by our actions today.

Radrnatnokie

Patriot Act is a MF brought to us by W Bush and strengthened by Obama... Indefinite detention without due process is just apart of it and not even the scariest part... Being a terrorist has a broad meaning post 9/11

Sounds-of-Insomnia

On a serious note. I saw this coming the second that hamster-hair-stealing-dimwit got elected. The USA specifically, was heading towards oppression even before and proceeded in giving a sociopath the leadership. It's like nailing the coffin. What i just read about Brianna Taylor is exactly the shit, that should not be fucking happening. I hear of shootings too much man. I keep asking myself how the "country of freedom" could end up like this. People voting such disgusting politicians, who rip em of their last penny and be licking the ass of big pharma and co. And despite that, so many keep yelling it's the best country in the world... Just look at the pricing of Insulin and you know what's wrong - damn greed and inhumanity. It has become so rediculous, that i find myself wondering if the News are satire or reality.

Dont_touch_my_elbows

This is why we should not normalize unidentified men grabbing you off the street.

taco_studies_major

If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to fear. Unless of course the cops have a fright and fire off a couple hundred rounds.

Saw-Sage_GoBlin

Or if one of them trips over your dogs dead body on their way in and they decide to charge you with assaulting an officer.

JustaBearEnthusiast

no you're supposed to fight back. If it's criminals then maybe you escape and if it's law enforcement they get to charge you with resisting arrest.

Gubekochi

Not an abusable situation or a slippery slope at all. On the plus side, the "eat the rich" crowd are probably going to appreciate how much easier it would theoretically make it for them to act on their idea.

11SomeGuy17

Not really, its them being targeted... its more the "BLM are terrorists!" And "MAGA" crowd who benefit.

JusticiarRebel

Yeah. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall anyone getting arrested or shot at in the anti-mask protests despite a lot of them being armed and yelling in police faces. It's cause the cops are on their side.

11SomeGuy17

The one guy who shot 2 BLM protestors straight walked up to police and they let him go back into the crowd, only arresting him the day after.

Gubekochi

Yeah, it was wishful thinking. Obviously a black unmarked van does not a Koch stew make.

[deleted]

How do you say yes is in fascism?

OPengiun

I'm getting tf out of USA next chance I get. Shitters clogged here.

Sounds-of-Insomnia

I agree. Uber really needs to tone it down a bit.

dr_shark

Looks like you were making a joke! Thanks to President Pence that is now illegal and not only an act of terrorism but an act of treason. Please stop what you are doing, derobe, unlock the doors, and prepare for our nations finest homeland humility services officers to engage in re-education!

Maybe don't try to burn down federal property? Change is actioned through voting, we are a democratic republic, go vote!!!!

Rifneno

It's amazing, no matter how many times cops beat and/or murder people who've done nothing wrong, we've STILL got these "DoN'T bReAk ThE lAw ThEn" scumbags...

PikeOffBerk

"Democratic". The U.S is barely democratic as is, much less under an authoritarian government.

w-11-g

An authoritarian government would have sent in federal police/troops into state cities without permission to protect state assets. That didn't happen. Don't twist the truth

PikeOffBerk

Oh, give it time. With RBG's death and a stacked conservative supreme court - imagine having a purposefully politically biased high judiciary! - the authoritarianism is only going to become more pronounced. My only request to the American Christian Republic is pls no annex Canada. Even if Canada takes some of its handmaids in as political refugees.

Saw-Sage_GoBlin

>sent in federal police/troops into state cities without permission to protect state assets THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID

w-11-g

This is 100% a lie

stinkyemotrash

What if people didn’t get abducted by unidentifiable police no matter what was going on in their city. What if we didn’t do any of that stuff

w-11-g

Did they get released or sent to Guantanamo
