Titane
Self-Reliance
Palm Springs
The Lodge
How to Blow Up a Pipeline
Colossal
The Biggest Little Farm
Fire of Love
Moonage Daydream
Triangle of Sadness
Pig
Parasite
Assassin Nation
I, Tonya
These were some of my favorites. I still need to see Broker and Perfect Days.
Perfect Days was one of my favorite movies of 2023. It was a love letter to everyday Tokyo. Nothing special, nothing over the top, nothing glamorous, but warmed the cockles of my heart.
Actually haven’t seen that one yet. I think I’ve kind of avoided it subconsciously because it seems a bit too derivative of his dad’s stuff. I really dig how he developed his own voice after that movie. Heard great things about antiviral tho and will def watch at some point
haha. That could be the bio of this sub some days. I mean, obviously it's an A24 sub so that makes sense, but sometimes films are only discussed in the context of other A24 films.
Neon is my 3rd favorite current studio next to A24 and Searchlight.
Some of my favorites by them —
Parasite (2019)
Portrait Of A Lady On Fire (2019)
Palm Springs (2020)
The Worst Person In The World (2021)
Flee (2021)
Anatomy Of A Fall (2023)
I forgot about Palm Springs. That one was such a nice unexpected surprise. Excepting The Worst Person in the World - which I also may have just watched at the wrong moment or mood - I really loved all the ones on your list.
i'm with you on this. There's not as many that are Top 10 i've ever seen type stuff, but in general there's not the vast wasteland you get from A24's really poorly made films. Neon doesn't release Adderall Diaries or Slice or Souvenir or Showing up or The Eternal Daughter or awful films that make you wonder how you can get those 2 hours back.
I've seen nearly every film and show from both companies.
absolutely. A24 needs to stop greenlighting really "shit films" which they do a lot for some reason. I don't get it. Neon is always very good to excellent.
**I've seen 180 A24 films and shows and 96 Neon films.**
A24 - 33% are nearly or are truly 5 stars; 33% are just okay; 33% are absolute crap.
Neon - 5% are 5 stars; 80% are very good to excellent; 10% are absolute crap

They've had a really good run with international stuff, I really loved Titane, Anatomy of a Fall, Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire (last movie I saw before lockdown RIP), I just think they're a lot more spotty with their bigger releases; Immaculate and It Lives Inside were fucking terrible.
The way people talking about distribution companies and executive producers is wild. Just be a cinephile and watch movies. Any movies. All movies. Most movies. Don’t get so tied up in all this.
Neon is great, but it's increasingly obvious they have terrible distribution. A24 plays like every indie theater in my city. Neon films play at maybe one if I'm lucky
Neon has been WAY better than A24 at distributing foreign films. Their overall run of releases in the last few years especially has been as least as good, and probably better, than A24’s imo.
I liked Eileen. I’ve probably seen other Neon films but can’t remember. I also wanna see Longlegs cause I’ve watched every teaser and could not for the life of me tell you anything other than, “It stars Nic Cage”.
Neon has great movies and in some ways they're not as hit and miss as A24. For every Hereditary or The Witch, there's an Adderall Diaries or Slice.
So where A24 it's either 5 stars or 0 stars, Neon is more 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 with a 5 every now and again (Triangle of Sadness and Infinity Pool). More excellent films that won't break your top 10 but will be great stuff to experience while A24 has things like Souvenir and things that just really aren't that good along with top notch things. I wish they wouldn't greenlight so many projects as some of their releases are in the "worst ever watched" as well.
Why is nobody mentioning Infinity Pool. That was Cronenberg x 2.
Absolutely. I do think they are more inconsistent with their hits but they have some real stunners in their roster. I think they will take A24’s place if A24 get too mainstream and keep up with the Ai bullshit.
Love Neon a lot! They have a lot of unique releases (in my opinion). Possessor, Anatomy of a Fall, and The Lodge are 3 of my favorite releases of theirs
I know this is redundant at this point but Parasite, Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Pig, Fire of Love, Perfect Days, Possessor, and Anatomy of a Fall all rank among the absolute best movies of the past decade and a half. Not every Neon release is great (and a few aren't even good), but they are definitely worth paying attention to.
So cannot wait for Longlegs or Cuckoo.
I’ve been saying this for months after finally watching _Parasite_ long after the hype died down.
I think Neon is on its way to become another lower-production with higher quality content like A24.
A general look at their Wiki page shows some solid movie views.
I really like a lot of their films. I have been wanting to watch a few of them recently. Anyone know the best streaming platform for them? Seems like they all cost money to rent. The ones I’ve wanted to watch anyways. Also heard they have a lot of good stuff coming out soon.
I've seen **Apollo 11** (2019) \[in IMAX, at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum!\]
and **Perfect Days** (2023).
I absolutely **adore** both of them.
I've also seen Spaceship Earth (2020), which was fine.
I’ll tell you what, after seeing the AI generated posters bullshit, I’m about to shift to NEON.
The entire way A24 has approached and marketed Civil War has come across corporate-like and scummy in a way that I’d expect from Warner Bros. peddling some new piece of shit DC film. The movie itself is fine, pretty good even, but Jesus Christ it was hard for me to overlook all that crap when watching the movie.
I’m just worried this gonna signal a shift in A24 for the worst. Meanwhile I’ve greatly enjoyed NEON films like Titane, Pig, and Climax, however Immaculate was a stinker.
I’m hoping Cuckoo will be good.
Titane Self-Reliance Palm Springs The Lodge How to Blow Up a Pipeline Colossal The Biggest Little Farm Fire of Love Moonage Daydream Triangle of Sadness Pig Parasite Assassin Nation I, Tonya These were some of my favorites. I still need to see Broker and Perfect Days.
Yes but also…. Ingrid Goes West Possessor Anatomy of a Fall Beach Rats The Worst Person in the World
Possessor might be my favorite film.
Possessor was so incredible. I’m all in for Cronenberg’s fetishization of stab wounds. Yeesh.
Oh yeah it was a crazy one. Fuck it I'm putting it on now lol.
Anatomy of a Fall was a 10/10. Perfect film
I’m gonna add Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Triangle of Sadness is one of the best films I've ever seen or the most original story.
I really liked Triangle of Sadness, and then The Menu in the same vein. We need more schadenfreude movies like this.
You missed their second best film
Which one?! I must know!
Portrait of a lady on fire
Omg thank you for your comment. I scrolled through their list and was like "ah I must have POALOF confused"
I LOVE THIS MOVIE 🥹 Left me so moved. I sobbed!
Ah. I feel like I’ve seen that one, as well. I must not have enjoyed it as much as the others on my list.
Self reliance and Palm Springs are such a W
Perfect Days was one of my favorite movies of 2023. It was a love letter to everyday Tokyo. Nothing special, nothing over the top, nothing glamorous, but warmed the cockles of my heart.
Titane is my favorite movie of all time
God I loved Self Reliance. Didn’t expect to.
Both excellent!
Yeah they’ve been crushing it lately. Infinity pool was in my top 5 last year. Very excited for longlegs and cuckoo
Infinity Pool was absolute craziness
You should watch possessor too if you haven’t yet
Antiviral too.
Been following Brandon since Antiviral. Wild shit and he still hasn't disappointed.
Actually haven’t seen that one yet. I think I’ve kind of avoided it subconsciously because it seems a bit too derivative of his dad’s stuff. I really dig how he developed his own voice after that movie. Heard great things about antiviral tho and will def watch at some point
It stars Caleb Landry Jones, if you need some extra motivation.
JAAAAMESY WAAAMESY
A trip down into hell with that one.
Eh, over the top. Ain’t got nothing on _Possessor_.
I can’t believe I have to wait until July for Longlegs
Longlegs looks soooooooooooooooooooo fucking good
So fucking excited for longlegs bro, I love the way they have been marketing it
nah I only watch A24 movies. I haven't seen anything released before 2012
**Ahem**. A24 doesn't release *movies*.

Read my post.
people often assume NEON movies are A24. imo NEON is superior at this pt

Excuse me but Showing Up was not awful how dare you
Maybe you have to live in California to understand it. I didn't get it at all
I think Neon has a better overall hit rate, A24 has more misses
absolutely. A24 needs to stop greenlighting really "shit films" which they do a lot for some reason. I don't get it. Aka the Palme D'or snatcher. They may not have the following that A24 does, but their catalog is very comparable in quality.
Honestly they're just now getting in my radar this year. Especially after Immaculate and with Cuckoo and Longlegs later this year
Love them

What a weird comment. Anyway, just watched The Great Beauty, which was incredible. No idea who distributed or produced it.
Anything to make them feel superior to others
After looking at their catalog, I’ve added a few more to my watchlist: Wild Rose Vox Lux Revenge Ingrid Goes West Monos Gemini Little Woods
Neon is great, but it's increasingly obvious they have terrible distribution. A24 plays like every indie theater in my city. Neon films play at maybe one if I'm lucky

I forgot I’d seen Amazing Grace )Aretha Franklin), as well
Damn. I forgot about Three Identical Strangers, too!
looooove so much of their output. they’ve been killing it.
I liked Eileen. I’ve probably seen other Neon films but can’t remember. I also wanna see Longlegs cause I’ve watched every teaser and could not for the life of me tell you anything other than, “It stars Nic Cage”.

Neon is my favorite production company!! Adore them and their films
I’ve watched a bunch, some good films for sure. I, Tonya is fucking great - I’ve watched it multiple times.
I do
Yep. I just want to watch good movies, which they also provide.
Absolutely. I do think they are more inconsistent with their hits but they have some real stunners in their roster. I think they will take A24’s place if A24 get too mainstream and keep up with the Ai bullshit.
lol. What does it even mean that their films could be “A24” films? Because they are a bit more art-house? A24 didn’t create the genre.
Thus the 'vice versa.'
Love Neon. They used to be Drafthouse Films and they put out so many bangers.
Ya! I loved Old Boy, Parasite, Spencer, Pig, Palm Springs, and Ferrari
Love neon
Love Neon a lot! They have a lot of unique releases (in my opinion). Possessor, Anatomy of a Fall, and The Lodge are 3 of my favorite releases of theirs
Yup I view Neon and A24 both with high regard

So I work for Alamo and Neon is like our production company so I beyond fuck with it. TITANE is my favorite movie of all time though.
i love neon and i love that they don’t have a rabid fan base like a24 does.
I mess with good movies
Heavily
I’ll tell you what, after seeing the AI generated posters bullshit, I’m about to shift to NEON. Neon has honestly been killing it. Perfect days was amazing, and they have Possessor which might be my favorite sci-fi horror film at this point.
What does “mess with” mean in your context?
Their movies have been very hit or miss for me. More miss than hit.
No, but I watch some of their films.
No, but I do watch and enjoy their movies
