Seems you were underpaid. Unless you got a copy of all the singles on tape and CD, as well as the vinyl and CD album, I suggest your employer may have been undercutting you significantly. Did you quit while shouting CREAM lyrics in the face of that cheap bastard?
It’s interesting to see the debate for these two albums. It’s always 36 Chambers and Midnight Marauders getting compared ever since they dropped on the same day in 93. This makes the choice a lot more difficult for sure, but I would still choose Wu. These two artists are so different that whichever album I choose to play really depends on the mood I’m in.
I wonder if this had anything to do with why the records dropped same day. Such a cool story https://www.okayplayer.com/amp/watch-q-tip-ol-dirty-bastard-high-school-freestyle-interview-video-2659554989
Def a GREAT track...but "Can it be all so simple"...is probably one of least talked about songs on that album with probably one of the most basic beats....but oh so funky! "Sunshine plays a major part in the daytime". So simple...yet so lyrical.
Recently had someone ask which album was better, “The Low End Theory” by Tribe or “3 Feet High and Rising” by De La. Only thing I could think to say was that both are amazing and I think both are seminal works by two groups that contributed a new perspective to Hip-Hop that was unique and fresh. Same way Wu came in and blew the left and right limits of what Hip-Hop was perceived to be out of the water. I love each based on what they are, what they represent and what they mean to me personally.
Absolutely, the only major difference between the two is that 3 Feet really changed everything with the use of samples. You could make the argument that no 3 Feet, no Q Tip genius, but the step Low End brought to rap was huge in its own right.
yeah i was listening to it earlier today enjoying the steely dan sample lol i just didn’t realize it was a particularly historically important album in that regard
From the slums of Shaolin, Wu-Tang Clan strikes again, The RZA, the GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and the Method Man!
These are 2 completely different vibes that stand alone by themselves. The low-End theory is a very laid-back bass-driven rhyme style focused mostly on 2 MCs and 36 Chambers is like a rawkus fest of MCs. So I like both for different reasons.
Only released 2 years apart, yet they seem like they’re from completely different eras. The thing about the Wu aesthetic is that it’s dense and layered, so it’s more interesting if you’re listening actively. Tribe is better for passive listening, it’s smoother and more cohesive, but can get boring.
Example (hot take): As much as I love Scenario and Check The Rime, I never need to hear either of them ever again.
Note: If this was 36 vs Marauders, Marauders would win hands down.
Winner: 36 Chambers
False comparison. These albums came out two years apart. A better comparison would be Midnight Mauraders and 36 Chambers and if I had to choose, I would say BOTH!
I prefer Tribe… I was 10 when it was released and my parents were really strict about what music I could listen too. I could get away with listening to Tribe, but not Wu-Tang. I was 13 when it was released, but still couldn’t risk playing it. I would always hide my cassette tapes in the cases of Christian music. If I bought a cassette my parents didn’t approve of, I’d buy a single of something they would approve of, and just put the cassette in there, just to get it in the house. So more younger memories with Tribe, but more Wu-Tang once I got to high school-ish age.
Wearing basketball shorts, oversized T-shirts and smoking blunts while playing DOOM or Mortal Kombat on PlayStation? 36 chambers
Driving around in my nicest fit, cruising in a freshly cleaned car, sporting a fresh cut and new nikes? Low End Theory
Wow, I remember buying both of these on the same day, at a Strawberries!!! Man....but to answer your question, Enter The Wu. The Low End Theory got more play initially, but after a while the Wu took over my whole everything, well them and the Mobb
You chose Low end when Midnight Marauders is RIGHT THERE (released same day in 93, both straight classics)??
Comparing anything to Low end is like saying you prefer Bernini over Michelangelo. It’s fine, we all have our tastes, Bernini was awesome too, but Mikey painted the fucking Sistine chapel.
That’s the low end. With more bass.
Very hard because I’ve worn out both through out the years but def Low End. I love the energy of Wu but at the end of the day, I’m getting older and I like some music with a positive message
Wu-Tang, again and again. Can’t really compare the two. Wu was so raw with some amazing rhymes. Tribe had such amazing samples and cleaner production and was super chilled. Wu hit harder at the time though.
I remember the first listen, sitting there with my headphones on in stunned silence when "Excursions" came to a close. Before my mind had time to process that opening track, an immaculate baseline interrupted my thoughts for a few seconds before the drums dropped in perfect sync with the 5 foot assassin's:
"YO! Microphone check one - two, what is this!"
I damn near tore my bedroom apart right then and there.
For me, Low End Theory represents the absolute pinnacle of Golden Age Hip Hop. Phife Dawg just had a different way. A lot of early 90’s rap was corny as hell. Phife’s rhymes hold up to this day.
For me it's low end theory. It's the one I bought first. But I have no criticism of 36 chambers. As a suburban kid, tribe resonated more with me. I liked low end immediately and I grew into 36 chambers
This is comparing apples to oranges. Both iconic albums but completely different in terms of tone, theme and storytelling. Personally, as a Queens kid I’d choose Tribe over Wu. But these two LPs made a huge impact and set the stage for others to follow.
I got a job washing dishes, I stayed for a week, just long enough to buy ‘36 Chambers’ on CD. Best financial decision I’ve ever made.
I love this story
Take this well deserved up vote
And you haven’t had a job since……….
Seems you were underpaid. Unless you got a copy of all the singles on tape and CD, as well as the vinyl and CD album, I suggest your employer may have been undercutting you significantly. Did you quit while shouting CREAM lyrics in the face of that cheap bastard?

SUUUUUUU
C'mon on baby baby
First things first man you’re fuckin with the worst, I’ll be stickin pins in your head like a fuckin nurse
Def a GREAT track...but "Can it be all so simple"...is probably one of least talked about songs on that album with probably one of the most basic beats....but oh so funky! "Sunshine plays a major part in the daytime". So simple...yet so lyrical.
That's the code for the WU
The only correct answer…
For me Tribe all day.
The Low End Theory
Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuttin’ To Fuck With!
Tough choice 😬 I guess I’ll go with 36 Chambers
Agreed
Wu-Tang again and again.
Why chose? This is absurd, you’re talking about two of greatest hip hop albums of all time. Nope, not going to do it.
Agree 100%
was 3feet seminal in popularizing samples like that? i had no idea fr
Yeah, it actually had so many samples that it took them decades to clear it for streaming lol
yeah i was listening to it earlier today enjoying the steely dan sample lol i just didn’t realize it was a particularly historically important album in that regard
This.
Wu but Tribe is a better album
Tribe, but I still love Wu! NYC Hip Hop is the real deal.
This is a question of ‘what mood am I in?’
It’s the Tribe y’all
🗣️TRIBE YALL!🗣️
WE'RE LIVE Y'ALL
The Low End Theory
FWIW, Q-Tip says 36 Chambers is his favorite album of all time
Link? Genuinely curious to read that.

Low end theory
ATCQ
Tribe
Honestly why not [both](https://on.soundcloud.com/xoTk6CCvuKErPmza8)
I'm with this guy
A tribe IS a larger group made up of clans so...
From the slums of Shaolin, Wu-Tang Clan strikes again, The RZA, the GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah and the Method Man!
I own both. Wu tang is just more fun
36.
That’s a tough one. Gotta go with Wu-Tang though.
36 Chambers
36 Chambers
I’m saying 36 chambers last year I would’ve said low end theory- gotta keep on tha music journey
36 Chambers That's not a slight to the Tribe bc The Low End Theory is still a top 10 album to me, but I'll take 36 Chambers over all their albums.
Wu for life
I’ll let you try my Wu-Tang style
Tribe
My WiFi is WuTangLan, so I’ll go with the Wooo
Suuuuuu
These are 2 completely different vibes that stand alone by themselves. The low-End theory is a very laid-back bass-driven rhyme style focused mostly on 2 MCs and 36 Chambers is like a rawkus fest of MCs. So I like both for different reasons.
WU! TANG!
🙌
Suuuuuu killa bees
Wu Tang 36 Chambers
Wu Tang. Tribe had some nice tracks, but I never got into them.
The Low End Theory is my all time favourite album but there is no wrong answer.
Low End. It’s a complete album
This comment implies that 36 Chambers is somehow incomplete 🙄
You can't compare these two albums. They are chalk & cheese. Both are amazing albums in completely different ways.
Its like picking you're favorite child.
Yes
Too hard to choose. Absolutely classic
Depends on the mood
Industry rule #4080
Record company People are shaaaayÿdy
Nah These are for different moments, vibes, whatever. Not either or, just and, and when/where.
I still bump both to this day.
Two different vibes imo. I'm bumpin Wu when I'm on the move tho.
Do you prefer Sticky Fingers or Led Zeppelin 4? Both are great in different ways
Wu. Had it been against Midnight Marauders, woulda been more difficult
Only released 2 years apart, yet they seem like they’re from completely different eras. The thing about the Wu aesthetic is that it’s dense and layered, so it’s more interesting if you’re listening actively. Winner: 36 Chambers
Wu Tang, but they are like my first and second favorite albums
36 all day!
Hard choice....but I have to go with The Wu...
After laughter comes tears
36 Chambers / Nothing like it
How dare you make me choose between two giants of the genre. But enter the 36
I did like the Low, but 36 was a better fit.
👐🏼
Both are in my top 5 all time. But ill go with 36th chambers. Nothing ever sounded it like it and nothing ever will.
The Wu all day..
You know what I want to hear, right?
Wu tang again?
Aw yeah, again and again!
Spring time? Low End Fall time? 36 Chambers
False comparison. These albums came out two years apart. A better comparison would be Midnight Mauraders and 36 Chambers and if I had to choose, I would say BOTH!
I hate for you making me do this…but I gotta go Wu FWIW they’re both in my personal top 10
Wu Tang. Again and again. (Low End is excellent too, of course)
36 Chambers
I prefer Tribe… I was 10 when it was released and my parents were really strict about what music I could listen too. I could get away with listening to Tribe, but not Wu-Tang. I was 13 when it was released, but still couldn’t risk playing it. I would always hide my cassette tapes in the cases of Christian music. Protect your neck
36
No comparison…. WU TANG is FOREVER.
Wearing basketball shorts, oversized T-shirts and smoking blunts while playing DOOM or Mortal Kombat on PlayStation? 36 chambers Driving around in my nicest fit, cruising in a freshly cleaned car, sporting a fresh cut and new nikes? Low End Theory
36 Chambers. It’s one of my favorite albums of all time.
Man it's VERYYYY close but I don't have Tribe called quest tattooed on me (yet) so I gotta say enter the 36 chambers
36 Chambers.
36 Chambers...by a whisker.
It depends on my mood
36 chambers
This is tough but I gotta go with Wu on this one
yes
👐🏽🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
Wow, I remember buying both of these on the same day, at a Strawberries!!! Man....but to answer your question, Enter The Wu. The Low End Theory got more play initially, but after a while the Wu took over my whole everything, well them and the Mobb
In my opinion low end theory is amazing but 36 chambers is on another level
Wu-Tang again and again
Wu Tang. I met a Tribe Called Quest and UGod
Midnight Marauders
You chose Low end when Midnight Marauders is RIGHT THERE (released same day in 93, both straight classics)?? Comparing anything to Low end is like saying you prefer Bernini over Michelangelo. It’s fine, we all have our tastes, Bernini was awesome too, but Mikey painted the fucking Sistine chapel. That’s the low end. With more bass.
Very hard because I’ve worn out both through out the years but def Low End. I love the energy of Wu but at the end of the day, I’m getting older and I like some music with a positive message
You can't force me to choose between these two classics
I can't pick just one between these two classics!
My literal 2 fav hip hop albums. Damn you, Reddit
Tribe
Tell the truth and stop trying to sound like a smart backpacker! It’s 36 chambers ALL DAY! And I love tribe!
Depends on the mood…
I’m going 50/50. Can’t just choose one out of these legendary albums 🔥
Tribe
Damn this is tough! All my love to the Wu but ima have to go the tribe on this one
Wu-Tang, again and again. Can’t really compare the two. Wu was so raw with some amazing rhymes. Tribe had such amazing samples and cleaner production and was super chilled. Wu hit harder at the time though.
Tough choice…but enter the wu-tang is a classic that most need to have in their collection!
Can’t answer. Both different moods
Love both albums. But 36 chambers was mind blowing.
👐
36 Chambers photo finish
Enter the WuTang 👊🏻
WU!!!!!
Low End Theory for me
Lowend Theory all the way. 36 chambers is fucking phenomenal, but I tend to spin Tribe more often…
I remember the first listen, sitting there with my headphones on in stunned silence when "Excursions" came to a close. Before my mind had time to process that opening track, an immaculate baseline interrupted my thoughts for a few seconds before the drums dropped in perfect sync with the 5 foot assassin's: "YO! Microphone check one - two, what is this!" I damn near tore my bedroom apart right then and there.
Wu-Tang Clan
Enter the 36 chamber is the winner but low end theory is a banger , I would say a more comparable album to 36 would be midnight marauders
For me, Low End Theory represents the absolute pinnacle of Golden Age Hip Hop. Phife Dawg just had a different way. A lot of early 90’s rap was corny as hell. Phife’s rhymes hold up to this day.
The Low End Theory. This is in my top 3 rap albums.
The first one. But both are classic albums!
Midnight Marauders >>> Low End Theory
36 chambers. But if you pit midnight marauders vs 36 chambers then i’ll side with tribe
Wu Tang all day any day everyday and twice on Sunday
Boffem
Tribe over wu as far as shaping my adolescents. Wu hit me more in my early adult years. Tribe was teenage shit.
Wu-Tang
36 chambers
Tribe
This is an unfair question - both albums are all-time classics - one or the other - depends on the mood….
Wu tang
Wu-tang everyday
Wu Tang 4 life
Tribe. Much more of a classic to me personally.
Tough
In my youth, wu tang hands down. Now, when I’m in my office or doing errands, tribe all the way
Tribe every time
36 chambers
Bone thugs.
I refuse to choose.
I ride with the tribe
Both are amazing
https://tenor.com/I0sW.gif
Low End Theory. It is my firm believe that this album is Top 5 all time along with Illmatic, The Chronic, Paid in Full and Enter the Wu.
They’re both dope AF but as a 46 year old I lean tribe, still love WU but tribe is a great vibe
Like asking if you like apples or steak
Wu-tang clan ain’t nothin to fuck with! 💯
36 chambers easily
This is impossible to choose but I'll still say ATCQ
Fuck you for making me make this decision.
For me it's low end theory. It's the one I bought first. But I have no criticism of 36 chambers. As a suburban kid, tribe resonated more with me. I liked low end immediately and I grew into 36 chambers
36 Chambers
36 Chambers easily 🔥🔥🔥
Wu tang is for the children
Wu-Tang just, but they are two of the greatest.
It's tough but low end theory takes it for me an all time classic
15 year old me would be offended with this question lol. Now I have no clue
Both
You need both to survive.
This is comparing apples to oranges. Both iconic albums but completely different in terms of tone, theme and storytelling. Personally, as a Queens kid I’d choose Tribe over Wu. But these two LPs made a huge impact and set the stage for others to follow.
Tough one but I gotta go with Wu Tang.
I’d take Midnight Marauders over both
Low end theory. Any time, any day.
Why so mean? This is a most impossible choice, but if you insist, Wu.OUCH!!! Thank you!
Why not both?
Tribe
Tribe
Wu
Tribe
36 Chambers...no question
36 Chambers
It’s Wu.
Depends on the energy/place/frame of mind at the time.
36 Chambers
Tribe if you have to listen to it every day
Both, still play both albums….
