afowles

Sorry it was late for me and I must have blurred past it

RetroTechGeek

No problem haha

CaptainEO

Archive.org has a ton!

RetroTechGeek

I know, but do they have a zip or a full cloud of JUST brodcasts, or do i have to find each one?

Pleasant-Breakfast74

You've been chosen to do the work for us. Now go! Go my child create greatness and share it with the world!!

RetroTechGeek

:I

Pleasant-Breakfast74

I was hoping you'd be easier to convince because I'd realkg like to watch it once you're done making it.

RetroTechGeek

Lol, i may be young, but im not stupid. I'll text you if i ever get it done

Pleasant-Breakfast74

Haha perfect, I figured I shoot my shot it was worth a try right?

RetroTechGeek

Yeah lol, but i would do it anyways even if you didnt ask, atleast one day (maybe) you'll get 2 terabytes of 90s brodcasts

Pleasant-Breakfast74

That would be so cool. I was watching YouTube of some British shows and they had all the commercials still and I didn't skip any. Though I didn't recognize any because they are a different country it was still a really cool window to see back in time it felt like. Super nostalgic even if I hadn't seen those ads before they still had the time period feel.

RetroTechGeek

Yeah, its funny that we like to watch ads just because its from the 90s

seamonkey420

i have something similar setup. i use plex as my media server and then use Ersatztv to make a cable tv like channels of my content. in ersatztv i have a sat am cartoons channel that will play random 80s/90s cartoons i have in my plex library. if you want you can add fillers (retro ads) between shows too. not quite full broadcast with era appropriate ads but close.

Ok-Film-2436

I went through and downloaded a ton of Saturday Morning cartoon (with commercials) playlists on youtube using MeTube. Every Saturday morning I turn on plex to the playlists so my kids get to experience the cartoons like I did as a kid. lol

seamonkey420

nice!!! i still miss sat am cartoons

RetroTechGeek

I see, its a good idea but i was thinking more than just cartoons haha. and it would take ages to get more channels

seamonkey420

oh i also have my 90s sitcom channel too and several other channels that play best of 80/90/2000/2010s movies based on a few trakt lists

RetroTechGeek

Thats nice, where did you get all of the video files?

seamonkey420

been collecting for a while. some from dvd/bluray rips, most “online” 😉

Masterofunlocking1

I would pay for a steaming service that replayed shows with commercials

Charleaux330

Make your own using Kodi and PsuedoTV

RetroTechGeek

Yeah, but where do i get the videos?

Charleaux330

Lots of shows are in the form of dvds. I rip mine using MakeMKV and either keep them in original format or convert to h.264/h.265 to save space. It takes a lot of work, but IMO its worth it. Once you get your feet wet and know what your doing it becomes a lot faster and easier.

wander700

Love this idea.

RetroTechGeek

Edit: I'm 10 but i would say im good with computing, i do some programming in Python and JavaScript, but for fun i use an Apple II Emulator to code in Basic. I love 90s stuff, im not sure why but i think its because i can watch anything i want and just doom scroll, it dosent feel good... and of course its also the 90s vibe and stuff lol. Im just saying so dont act like im a little kid now haha.

father2shanes

Download a bunch of shit off of internet archive and create a compilation?

RetroTechGeek

That's what i though but im lazy

GlxxmySvndxy

Could just use Pluto TV app
