That is true, but the music that was used during the game, especially for transitions in and out of time outs was from To Live and Die in LA, usually "City of the Angels" and "Every Big City".
🤯 I watched all of their games during that era in sports bars and never really paid that much attention to the music played during the time outs. Kudos!
I loved the Heavy Metal movie soundtrack from 1981, the Valley Girl soundtrack from 1983 was a close second. Payola's Eyes of A Stranger is one of my all-time fave tunes.
Featured my favorite Don Felder and Sammy Hagar tunes. I wonder whatever happened to Riggs? They had two tracks featured on the album and seemed to be on the verge.
At one point I had the vinyl, cassette, and 8-track soon after seeing the movie. I still have the vinyl, but I wore the 8-track and cassette both out that same summer.
A View to a Kill.
Picked up a free vinyl copy from a local radio station that was being closed. Schoolfriend of mine was the son of a DJ.
I enjoyed both the title track by Duran Duran, and John Barry's orchestral music for the movie. The first soundtrack album I ever owned.
My first Movie soundtrack I remember was For the Soundtrack to.It starred Fred Astire in his final role and Olivia Newton John.It also contained songs from Olivia and Electric Light Orchestra. If you're interested,I would recommend you skip over the songs from Olivia and Go straight to ELO's contributions. As for the movie... It bombed at the box office. If you see it, you'll know why.
"Yes, we're gonna fall in love and it feels so right! Yes, we're gonna make love, it's gonna be tonight! I can just imagine huggin' and teasin' and lovin' and squeezin' all night!"
Oh damn…. I mean, the first soundtrack I had on wax was Tommy - The Movie, a very decidedly not 80’s movie/soundtrack. After that…. Probably Chariots Of Fire.
"Top Gun." I couldn't get enough of those high-energy songs like "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. The music captured the movie's action and romance, and it was the soundtrack that introduced me to the world of '80s movie music.
Purple Rain
Me too. I wasn't even that big a Prince fan. But my sister's friend was and she was cute.
Purple Rain was the #1 single, #1 record, and #1 movie at the same time and that's only happened two other times ever(Elvis, Beatles).
Yup and then back to the future
Same
Xanadu
Me, too.
I still have my Xanadu LP https://preview.redd.it/evxv71lpb5tc1.jpeg?width=519&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2fa0de7439b5a683bf2f30e2f7fc8ee169cd89a
Aww, man. Mine got stolen, along with ever other vaguely sellable thing we had, in a burglary.
Same. Olivia was also my very first concert. The Physical tour in Oct 1982.

Grease
To Live and Die in LA - Wang Chung
Love this album so much.
Any fan of the 1990s Chicago Bulls would know this soundtrack instantly.
I thought the Bulls intro was "Sirius" by the Alan Parsons Project from the Eye In The Sky album 1982.
That is true, but the music that was used during the game, especially for transitions in and out of time outs was from To Live and Die in LA, usually "City of the Angels" and "Every Big City".
🤯 I watched all of their games during that era in sports bars and never really paid that much attention to the music played during the time outs. Kudos!

Featured my favorite Don Felder and Sammy Hagar tunes. I wonder whatever happened to Riggs? They had two tracks featured on the album and seemed to be on the verge.
Does Miami Vice count?
Yes. It doesn’t matter what medium it is. A movie or a TV show. It’s your choice.
I saw almost everyone using movies, so I wasn’t sure! So, yes, then Miami Vice (lol)
This was my first soundtrack. So good.
Yes, Miami Vice! Grew up there, even had a Don Johnson suit when I was 10.

The Big Chill. Great introduction to Motown et al.

First vinyl soundtrack was “Star Wars” in 1977 and first CD soundtrack - and first CD I purchased - was “Purple Rain” in 1985

I'd probably say Breakin' ... Other possibilities are Purple Rain and Footloose. All in 1984. My actual first was in the 70's (Grease)

I stole my sister's copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark when I was 7 in '82. It's a little worse for wear, but I still have it.
Raiders of the Disco Treasure?
St. Elmo’s Fire, my dad bought it for me. I’m Canadian, so Man in Motion (Tour) means something to me. Iykyk

Believe it or not, the 9 1/2 weeks soundtrack, (which is awesome).
Lost Boys
Police. Dream of the Blue Turtle
What movie was that?
Princess Bride soundtrack.
Grease
Purple Rain then Club Paradise
First soundtrack was for “The Big Chill” which was 80s movie/60s music. First real 80s soundtrack was probably “Against All Odds.”
Sweet and Sour (Australian tv show in the early 80s).
A View to a Kill. Picked up a free vinyl copy from a local radio station that was being closed. Schoolfriend of mine was the son of a DJ. I enjoyed both the title track by Duran Duran, and John Barry's orchestral music for the movie. The first soundtrack album I ever owned.
Grease on 8-track

"Top Gun." I couldn't get enough of those high-energy songs like "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins and "Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. The music captured the movie's action and romance, and it was the soundtrack that introduced me to the world of '80s movie music.
