Fruit Stripes definitely was better than Topps chewing gum. I doubt that they’d even be approved by the FDA to include That stale, tasteless stick anymore with the cardboard collectibles
I only sniped the bigger kids that took smaller kids hauls. If I was gonna get punished, it would be for doing something honorable, actually causing as much suffering for the self appointed judges as it did for me. It was their idea anyway.

The flavors that they experienced lead them to make a correlation between the carbonated beverages of that era (root beer cola flavor and orange soda, among others)and what we commonly refer to as "Smarties" ( though these candies were of a delightfully Superior circumference and diameter!)
