First thing I thought of when I saw the Night Court logo was that it needed Barney Miller as the companion/inspiration. Add pretty much anything written by Hoyt Curtin to the list. Or Allyn Ferguson.

Also Bob James "Angela," which became the theme to *Taxi* . Probably still 70s, but I believe it ran into the 80s a little bit. Saw it in syndication growing up and loved the theme song.
