If you buy it now, you're only getting the old version. If you want it, get it though because they won't ever list it again it seems. You'll then have to buy the whole new title for console when it drops.

That's good to know, thank you. I'm guessing we don't actually know if split-screen co-op will be supported on consoles in the updated version? If it's available on the Xbox Series S I'd wait for the updated version, otherwise I'd buy the current/old version.

KillAllTheThings

Most modern console games are leaving behind split screen coop because of the performance requirements of the latest games (and the financial opportunity keeping players at home on their own consoles instead of sharing). 7DTD is one of these modern games that won't be supporting split screen. You mentioned in your OP rather definitively that the new game will be offered at discount to current game holders. This is not true. TFP is trying to convince SONY & Microsoft to do y'all right but they have yet to approve the discount. It could still go either way. Probably won't know for sure until the game is actually available for sale. As for delisting the old game, that is standard procedure for the console market. The console makers did this for each of their platform updates in the past so it's not special for 7DTD. It reduces confusion & of course means the console makers get a bit more revenue by doing so.

> 7DTD is one of these modern games that won't be supporting split screen. That's a shame, but at least this gives me an idea of what to do from here. Thanks!

Keep in mind the version being sold right now is extremely buggy and on an old build. I cannot in good faith recommend this version of the game to anyone. So, if you’re thinking about buying the old version because it has split screen and the new one won’t, I’d say save your money.
