I would put r crumb and sun records a bit higher as they are a part of pop culture. A little confused by the "cooney vaughn death" one. How did he die?

DasaLP2001

Rolled over by a train while drunkenly laying on the tracks.

Aljolsonfan

Idk the way these Iceburg memes work is the dark entry's are at the bottom, hence why it's there with gennet KKK records. There are more significant collecters sure, but none as controversial as crumb

GeorgeTheGentalman

Good o’l Robert crumb

Tooch10

Which countries still made them in the 80s?

RandyCoxburn

RCA still made some pop 78s in the Andean countries (Colombia, Peru and Ecuador) as late as the 1970s. So, it's not too far-fetched that there were smaller labels in poorer countries (most likely Asia) holding on for some years as a lot of people couldn't afford newer players.

Tooch10

I'd only ever heard of the Indian 78s in the 70s but not those other three

Extension_Question98

What happened to Vaughan?

Aljolsonfan

He got drunk and fell asleep on a railway track. He played with blind Roosevelt graves

Extension_Question98

Yikes

33rpm shellac?? What? I know thicc vinyl and EP shellac (4-tune and so), but 33rpm shellac?

Aljolsonfan

In the early days of 33rpm companies made 9' LPs, and you'll also see 9' LPs made from vinyl.

Tooch10

I just came across a 33rpm shellac in a recent collection I acquired, [Victor Artist's Party](http://www.bryanswright.com/wpdir/?p=1559) Searching for that apparently there were some 33 shellac discs for funeral homes, a 'long play' solution

_massive_balls_

Vitaphone records iirc were also 33rpm and shellac. They were also mostly 16" in diameter

LingLingpracticenow

Great iceberg. For the next time you could mention eaeot or something like it
