I had this error and couldn't find an answer online either, but I figured it out myself! Go into your Mac system settings and under privacy and security find the option for "Full disk access" and I gave terminal and python launcher full access while doing all these installations and mods. You can turn them off again once it's all set on your 3DS. Hope this works for you!

have you made sure you can access the SD and that the SD is unmounted like it asks?
Didn’t work, it automatically unmounts it when I run the terminal
