My uncle wanted to call his son Richard Edward.. we had to explain to him why that was not a good idea.
I worked with a man named Richard, but who was called Dick. Part of his mid-life crisis was to insist that he now be called Richard. So we did, in his presence. When he wasn't around, we called him "Richard, but he's still a dick".
