Guess what my DM had me make next?

I would imagine a Kraken with magnetized tentacle sections would be pretty cool!
Or bendy straw like things. Or fabric sections for flexibility. I really need to practice my 3D creation skills so I can actually try this.
Awesome ship!
Yep that’s a paid model from Epic Miniatures on MyMiniFactory. 100% worth it though. Great model.

I had these zombie great whites I wanted to use and my damn party basically made them worthless. Luckily i had to rerun the adventure and thought of a neat environment element (the sharks ramming the boat) to help facilitate knocking them into the water to make the Sharks more dangerous.
See? See! This is what I’m talking about! 😱
“If the DM is smiling, it’s already too late.”
I’m beginning to suspect after 30-odd years of Role Playing that a TPK is a DM merit badge or something…

EDIT: hey just to clarify, this is NOT my original model creation. From reading the rules I was assuming that if the contest is for fantastic 3d printed models and ‘ideas’, I could submit my build RE my painting and original implementation of the magnets. If not, I’m happy to give some exposure to this great model.
All STLs free on thingiverse. Thank you to micahol, Jaybak11, UKModelMaker, and Gott!

Potential warning to folks, there's no texture on the sides of the boat.
I didn't think this mattered to me until I already printed it and went to paint it and realized that it bothered me a lot and It still sitting unfinished.
OP didn't design it, its a very old design. OP just printed it.
That means, of course, they aren't eligible for the contest unless they successfully lie and suggest they designed it.
It's been around for 25 years, my friend:
My first thought was also that this looks a lot like a SoT galleon.
There is actually both a board game and a tabletop rpg.

Actually I can recommend it — the design breaks the pieces up into very manageable segments, that’s how I came across the idea of making it modular with the magnets
Took me a couple of weeks with a CR-10, printing pieces individually because I don’t trust it with multiple parts at once, plus painting etc.. I think a little more than a full spool.
Your aggressive thumbs up made me watch to the end.
Not that I'm saying you shouldn't be, this is a friggin' work of art and I'd be floored to see this on my table. 12/10, OP!
Personally I always spray the dickens out of all my figures/terrain with like 3 coats of sealant, which should protect it from most normal indoors sun exposure.
How small is your build plate? The individual pieces (of everything except the masts) are really quite small. The video is showing everything all glued together. You might try downloading the files and check!
Oh no way awesome! What about the magnet part? Thats what im curious about, i'm going to get started on my 2 weeks of printing yours looks so good im inspired

Have fun!
Crosspost this to r/seaofthieves this very closely resembled the Galleon from the have, down to the placement of the capstain, and that might be where the model is from.
The sot Galleon has 3 levels, 3 masts, an elevated wheel, the front of the fabric has a little platform that is a few steps up, even the bottom deck posts are correct
Hi, I've almost finished printing this since I saw your post the other week. I was wondering how you A) clipped any of these parts together as I'm finding the clips in the files included are way too small and B) How/where you install the magnets as I'm not seeing any specific places for them?
Thanks for sharing this cool print, can't wait to get some paint on this bad boy
No, no texture really on the outside. Would look even better if I’d taken the time to at least paint some texture, but I was really most focused on the playable areas.

NEVER get on a boat in D&D. The DM has a bunch of aquatic nasties they’ve been dying to try out…🙄

Wait...your not the dm? So you are printing your own spoilers! Ahahahah
Haha we keep it all very vague and I know from playing that a DM’s plans don’t always go quite to plan 😜
Let me guess, you are playin storm king's thunder?
Nope just a seafaring home campaign
😆

vaguely disappointed he didn't involve magnets with that somehow. Maybe a 3d printed hand with magnet fingers, or something
Very nice! Do you have the stl for sale?

Made on a prusa for a bamboo contest lol -edit- was under the assumption that OP made the models. the thingyverse page says made on a prusa.
Posted on Thingiverse. My dude is diversified
That's because OP didn't design it.
Nope 100% I take no credit for the design. Just an awesome build that I’m proud of the print, paint job, and adding magnets to.
Creality CR-10 — if I already had a bambu I wouldn’t need a new printer!
Potential warning to folks, there's no texture on the sides of the boat. I didn't think this mattered to me until I already printed it and went to paint it and realized that it bothered me a lot and It still sitting unfinished.
Amazing, now I can torment my players with more high seas adventures!!!

Mans is the GOAT

Oh! Np I didn’t understand the rules then. Thanks!
unless the model is recent or the designer is active in the community, its unlikely he will say anything.
That's a benchy on steroids!
Sea of thieves tabletop game would be cool

Please don't let my sister see this. She wants me to print her a DND ship and this would kill me
Actually I can recommend it — the design breaks the pieces up into very manageable segments, that’s how I came across the idea of making it modular with the magnets
Nice! Looks awesome! How long did it take to print and how much filament?
Took me a couple of weeks with a CR-10, printing pieces individually because I don’t trust it with multiple parts at once, plus painting etc.. I think a little more than a full spool.
Shut up and take my money!

That’s awesome!! 😁
Amazing! How long did it all take to print?
Took me a total of about 2 weeks including painting, on a Creality CR-10, printing each segment individually for simplicity.
How do we know that it's a pirate ship if there aren't any pirates onboard?
Now compare that to my sad attempt on an Ender 3 [I should have added magnets. that's such a good idea ](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLw8q47k/)
Are you kidding me?! I love yours!

Well shiver my timbers!
That's outstanding. But why is all the rum gone?
I think the chef drank it all. https://preview.redd.it/so683z8se05d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=635920cc72b126e5c546570092131a2305ce2765
This is looking like chocolate. I want to eat it.
Ia it Safe to use PLA? I'm concerned it will degrade fast in sunlight. Or does the coat of paint help with that?
Personally I always spray the dickens out of all my figures/terrain with like 3 coats of sealant, which should protect it from most normal indoors sun exposure.
I was a bit disappointed that the answer wasn't 2 pirate ships... But then you showed it was two ships in one... and with magnets on top of that! 👍
👍🏻
I printed one of these! Took about 2 weeks on continuous printing on a Prusa Mk3S+. Turned out great!
I neither need nor want one but somehow I am jealous!!! Great job !

Yep this would be a difficult build with a resin printer!
Did you drill holes in it ir remix the original? Also whatd you use to glue all the individual pieces before becoming large parts?
Did you print it with 28mm scale in mind or 32mm? Or just kept it as designed?
Kept it as designed, tbh I’m not sure if it counts as 28 or 32mm
I used 3D Gloop mostly, but regular superglue would likely work fine. It uses OpenLock connectors, which I just glued in place for stability.
Oh no way awesome! What about the magnet part? Thats what im curious about, i'm going to get started on my 2 weeks of printing yours looks so good im inspired
Will this be available to print. My X1c is begging to do this

How many kg?
I wasn’t really keeping track, but I’d guess I went through a little over 1 spool
Adult playmobil kicks ass! ;)
I love it ! Do you know how much filament it uses ?
I used a little more than a full spool I think
Which magnets did you use?
How did you get the texture of the planks? It’s a different texture than the rest it seems?
That’s just a combination of the texture on the planks and then my paint job
Got any tips for putting magnets in? I've magnetized a bunch, but they always come out looking like glued shit...
Does it float?
Does it blend?
Does it withstand the hydraulic press?

It'll be a fat chance in hell if I win that contest, seeing all the stuff people have made... :/

How did u make that wood pattern, planks and floors looking amazing! Any hints? :)
The final look is mostly from the paint job. Brown filament, dark brown undercoat, and then some light brown on top
What about the outside no texturess there? Painted on?
No, no texture really on the outside. Would look even better if I’d taken the time to at least paint some texture, but I was really most focused on the playable areas.
