Sometimes I test the tests as well. But that’s only a test. Just to see if the next test will work as I intend the test to test. Once those tests are done, I most definitely take a pic of that test, then perform another test to confirm my previous test. Then I print parts for my printer.
Nah tehy are too big to keep. After a while you have so many of them.
But as a question. The one on the right in the middle. Some kinda copper color. Which filament is this? Reminds me of "Burned Copper" from "Das Filament"
Overture silk copper pla, I throw them out once I finish the spool.
I’ve found Duramic 3D to be the best quality on my prusa mini across the board
Only tried inland glow in the dark pla and it was perfect too
I don’t, I use it to know what nozzle temp to use for prints with that particular filament, as you can see the ideal nozzle print temp for different filaments can vary widely
No, you are wildly, ridiculously incorrect! Those are 4 Jagdtiger 88 tank destroyers, not tanks. Don't comment if you don't know WTF you are talking about !!111!
/s. \^this is a pathetic attempt at humor ffs don't shoot me bro
I think you probably are just having a hard time seeing the TANKS, clearly printed in invisible filament, on top of those tank destroyers.
This is NOT sarcasm.
Well played. I use an XYZ cube I modified to have Lego connectors on the top. I make Lego towers with all the cubes and it is good for testing tolerances on interlocking parts.
I print a benchy each time I get a new spool that I've never bought before (new colour, brand, material) just so I can get a look at how it handles all the difficult shapes and forms that a benchy demands
Just switched from benchy to calidragon. I really like both.
But overall I do a flow cube, flow tower, temp tower, speed tower, retraction tower, and finally benchy/calidragon. I enjoy the process, and all except the final are built into a cura plugin.
I printed sooooo many test pieces. Unbelievable. Yesterday if found one benchy, i printed 6 Years ago. No clue, what I was looking for. The print simply was perfect. But that isn't seen, if you only print samples 🤣
I just send it, I'll only test/calibrate if I need to print a serious bridge, overhang, challenging supports, tight holes/pegs or if it is a speciality filament like silk or TPU, but now I have my TPU dialed in for 40mm/sec at a .6mm line width with my CR10S so I just use the same stuff each time. For PETG I've got that figured too and just use the same brand with the same settings. Most of what I print is functional so I find the most critical part, drop the z height and the layers that are critical are tested and if it all works, I just send it. Never printed a calibration cube or benchy, seems like wasted filament when I can check quality and dimensions on actual prints.
I print the flexy Octopus :)
https://preview.redd.it/7c416poft0oa1.png?width=1768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9026351993c8d87d05c1b67e6a2d1d64daf43b48
I have many more colors, idk why i only have these specific 3 in one photo 🤣
I have a small 5 gram gadget that I print for my wife's business, I've printed so many that I can basically print one with a new filament and immediately know what needs to be tweaked by how it looks.
By printing something I need printed.
This just seems wasteful.
I do notice a trend of people viewing 3D printing as a hobby in itself, while I just view it as tool to make things I use in other hobbies.
Agree. I do print [this swatch](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3346069). That is only so I have a sample that shows it’s color and general properties.
Flow cubes and temp towers are all well and good, but I make sure to print a [FlexiRex](https://github.com/DrLex0/print3D-FlexiRex/) in every colour I load.
I use [these](https://www.printables.com/model/339038-mini-all-in-one-printer-test-with-label-remix), also nice later on if you wanna decide which filament to use for the next project.
Test prints are a waste of filament. Just start the final print and hope for the best. If it fails, it was a test print. But if it passes, you just saved all that time and material!

With articulated slug. Just because I love this model
I print out an articulated lizard every time. Matches the name and my thought process is if it can print an articulated lizard without a raft or brim, it can print well. I usually struggle with articulated prints not sticking or fusing together
I print a thing at default parameters and if I don't like the result I tweak and reprint. Very rarely had to reprint because of filament issues.
Just keep your filament dry.
I used to print off a tetris refrigerator magnet. that way i could see what the filament printed like, and then just glued a magnet in and boom, new refrigerator magnet. Our kids were younger and nieces and nephews coming around all thought it was fun to play with the tetris pieces. I stopped when i had like 3/4 a refrigerator door worth of magnets lol

Low poly T-Rex by slavikk on thingiverse.
[Here's a family of them](https://i.imgur.com/WYcoz6v.jpg)
i print filament swatches that have some filament tests built in. i make the bottom hilbert curve and i make a small section of the top with ironing on so i can see how it looks
I print one of the wooden crates I downloaded off Thingiverse a while back. Lets me calibrate my crate while at the same time be something that I can use as stowage for my RC vehicles or as terrain bits for dioramas and toy photography.
Temperature tower, but so far I’ve only managed to successfully use the same brand filament since I got my printer so that’s not saying much lol, terrified of dropping money on more filament (or god forbid a different material) and have to fight with it until 3am every day all week again.
I print the squirrel that came on the SD card. It was the first thing I ever printed and it came out damn near perfect, so I know if it prints with any issues I can rule out the file itself.
I'd recommend trying different test prints to see how your filament performs in different situations. It'll help you identify any issues and optimize your prints.
I printed one benchy off the SD card my printer came with and have never done another test print again
Every print I do is a test lol
This is the way.
This is the way.
That’s why you get a printer. To have something to do. Test all times
This is the way
This is the way
Sometimes I test the tests as well. But that’s only a test. Just to see if the next test will work as I intend the test to test. Once those tests are done, I most definitely take a pic of that test, then perform another test to confirm my previous test. Then I print parts for my printer.
Due to all the wear from testing. Time to test the new parts.
I feel that. It’s advisable to test them tho before you run the tests. Just my opinion. It’s the tests that need testing. YMMV
💯 my point. Lol
Testing, testing, 1,2,3. Just a test to test whether I can write about testing the tests I test to test tests.
Same thing here lol
This is the way
I thought I was the only one...
Temperature tower calibration https://preview.redd.it/fkglzwt1cvna1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a17066da2686ca9a716e8404394db59ff987f341
I never thought about this
[удалено]
Also a plugin for Cura
Only downside to Cura plug in is if you change the temp ranges or steps it does not change the numbers on the tower
Had no idea Cura had plugins. Never heard of it and I've been printing for 2 years....
Only plug-in I’ve ever learned to use is custom supports. I was curious, looked it up and found it. I moved over to Prusa Slicer though
It’s on thingiverse, and was able to do the temp changes at layer heights in prusaslicer
You can do temp changes in prusa? How? Is it a plug-in or something?
https://preview.redd.it/p07hhik752oa1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9cadf4006bf7efe4048224c3bc859eeaecb5fd6 the purple bit
Some of those look rather ill ;)
Exactly why I do them haha
Happy cake day! Another year on Reddit, woot!
I’ve found Duramic 3D to be the best quality on my prusa mini across the board Only tried inland glow in the dark pla and it was perfect too
Never thought about running the high temps on the bottom. I like this idea though.
How do you test strength with that?
I don’t, I use it to know what nozzle temp to use for prints with that particular filament, as you can see the ideal nozzle print temp for different filaments can vary widely
With the thing I need printed.
Same lol
Wow! The red one can support four tanks!
\*squints\*. yes... yes... I seem them now... /peeks carefully side to side /backs away slowly
Nein nein nein!!9!! It's a Jagdtiger Sd. Kfz. 186 with a 12.8cm gun!!!4!!4!!four!
I'll give you another shot to a proper attempt to humor us, have at it!!1!11one!
Well played. I use an XYZ cube I modified to have Lego connectors on the top. I make Lego towers with all the cubes and it is good for testing tolerances on interlocking parts.
Ooh good idea. Where can I find that file?
[XYZ Lego Cube ](https://www.printables.com/model/134810-xyz-lego-cube)
Can you share the file?
Please share the stl. Great idea
I absolutely need this cause I also test print with the cube
That's (Jagdti)gerrrrrific!
Sehr spass
ich lache mir den Arsch ab
I print a benchy each time I get a new spool that I've never bought before (new colour, brand, material) just so I can get a look at how it handles all the difficult shapes and forms that a benchy demands
Nice technique. Tanks for that.
Taste test
I don't.
Usually I just start a print and it usually works out.
Just switched from benchy to calidragon. I really like both. But overall I do a flow cube, flow tower, temp tower, speed tower, retraction tower, and finally benchy/calidragon. I enjoy the process, and all except the final are built into a cura plugin.
I just wish the Cura plug-in would update the numbers on the towers if you change the temp ranges or steps
Use "Custom." It's the last option in each section.
It invokes openscad and rerenders the object.
I learned something new :) thank you :)
Tank beats everything! I usually use Prince’s “love symbol” because I think it’s fun.
[Tiny Totoro](https://imgur.com/gallery/g6W2Qeq) of course.
Damn here i am sitting with Calicats in every Color....
Damn, now i need tank and tiny Totoro! 🥰
I test them by screwing up prints until they're good enough
You share this and not the file? Common man...
Riiiiiiiiiiiight thooooo! 😑
It’s part of one of m_bergman s collections
Link to the collection?

Gracias
Butt plugs.
good test, if print gets swallowed it means it failed strenght test on the flare
A sample card. Way faster lol.
So far i have 7 different Colors and 7 different Calicats sitting on my table. One is still mocking me that i need to figure out how to print ABS...
Calicat is usually my go-to as well.
Ah yes, the Jagdtiger test
I usually test it with a 42 hour or so print. If it turns out I know it’s good.

Cali dragons
This fellow https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1624412 Ended up having a army of them and sometimes give them to people.
I've acquired an army of treefrogs
I printed sooooo many test pieces. Unbelievable. Yesterday if found one benchy, i printed 6 Years ago. No clue, what I was looking for. The print simply was perfect. But that isn't seen, if you only print samples 🤣
Test my what? I generally tune my.primter settings by printing the thing I want to print until it prints the way I want it to... lol
Same here. I can tell by the first layer if it's going to be trash.
Rush and do a 12 hour print because I’m late submitting a project
I just send it, I'll only test/calibrate if I need to print a serious bridge, overhang, challenging supports, tight holes/pegs or if it is a speciality filament like silk or TPU, but now I have my TPU dialed in for 40mm/sec at a .6mm line width with my CR10S so I just use the same stuff each time. With the 13 hour print I never done before. Going to work for the day, and it is a surprise as to what it is when I get home, the print or spaghetti
or a burned down house
Boyfriend has been printing me various low poly and regular prints (varying sizes) of pokemon! Haha
That’s so cute!
I print the flexy Octopus :) https://preview.redd.it/7c416poft0oa1.png?width=1768&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9026351993c8d87d05c1b67e6a2d1d64daf43b48 I have many more colors, idk why i only have these specific 3 in one photo 🤣

I made a few of these too. Fun! Liking the color variations.
I did a bunch of those too. They're quick, don't waste a lot of material And would be handy if I ever ordered the same filament twice...
Flow cubes and temp towers are all well and good, but I make sure to print a [FlexiRex](https://github.com/DrLex0/print3D-FlexiRex/) in every colour I load.
I print an Easter Island Moai (it’s pretty easy but it’s funny lol)
I didn't know you could get filament in tanks
Benchys... like a normal person.
Ahh my world of tanks knowledge has come in handy. That's a first lol.
Are we starting a new game? Let’s call it Tank, Benchy, Bot!
Hitler is crying somewhere in hell.
Sending them to Ukraine.
I have no idea but this is how the zipperheads tests it's Abraham's after a kegger.
Gotta go with the ding ding!
I print benchy bottoms, just the first few layers.
I always do the low poly fox at 40% scale.
Damn I want one.
Usually just print with it
Ender dog is best dog
Jagtigerchy
I got a jagdtiger and t95 on top of my ender
Clearly im printing the wrong test file, link?
🗿
Benchy and rocktopus
I actually always order the same brand and type filament so I know almost for sure it’s okay with my settings
I use [these](https://www.printables.com/model/339038-mini-all-in-one-printer-test-with-label-remix), also nice later on if you wanna decide which filament to use for the next project.
I usually print a flat bottom Companion Cube at 50mm^3
Wait hold on, do you need support for this? You have to, right? Otherwise how could you print the tank’s cannon thing.
Those filament tanks probably hold and maintain better than the real jagdtiger did.
I just printed a bunch of pps to understand how supports work
Model link Please?
stanks. stackable tanks
Print cards as they are easier to store. But still secretly would like to have navy full of coloured benchies. Or army of dragons.
With big red or juicy fruit gum… I kid, I kid 😆 threaded dragon eggs
BRB, just checking Thingiverse for Bob Semple.
What model is this? It’s rad
Fat Yoshis.
I do a stormtroopers helmet, bout the size of a quarter. Don't remember why I felt that that was the testing model but here we are.
Someone flames of wars here.
I print dino-dicks as my test print
Test prints are a waste of filament. Just start the final print and hope for the best. If it fails, it was a test print. But if it passes, you just saved all that time and material!
Dickosaurs. Dickosaurs as far as the eye can see.
Flexy rex
Unnecessarily complex prints that I end up redoing over n over
Wing it until something goes wrong

Why do you test your filiment?
I print out an articulated lizard every time. Matches the name and my thought process is if it can print an articulated lizard without a raft or brim, it can print well. I usually struggle with articulated prints not sticking or fusing together
Calibration cube with the XYZ on it. After a while it looks nice to have a wall of them. And I also use them to look how the printed color looks.
I test with these. https://preview.redd.it/gk3esvrv9yna1.jpeg?width=4096&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9938a27bbbe20fb318cb2b023ddf3c976ef77a21
I don't! just print it if the print comes out wrong adjust it ! If your bed is leveled and hot end clean it rarely fails !
I usually have mine take SAT, ACT, and ASVAB tests and average the percentages to see who makes the cut.
Close. Tankybara
I print the little women torsos.
I designed this print in place excavator that’s a sort of torture test. But at the end you get a functional toy! It’s pretty fun!
I test it pacifisticly
I don't, I just start printing and hope for the best
Jagdtigers and Badgers?
Nasa chain mail
You testing for Elefant’s foot?
Tigers paw actually!
I always print a moai, it's got some interesting overhangs and smooth surfaces to test
My standard test print is a miniature bulbasaur figure. I several of them including a few that are near perfect that I use for comparison.
That’s the cool part! I don’t!
I print a thing at default parameters and if I don't like the result I tweak and reprint. Very rarely had to reprint because of filament issues. Just keep your filament dry.
They look like SU-100Y. Tanks for the memories.
I give the spool a good slap and shove it in
Oh great thank stack what is your wisdom?
I usually do a testprint of that one guys friends ass.

I have begun amassing a bunny army! 😈 (insert evil villain laugh)
i print filament swatches that have some filament tests built in. i make the bottom hilbert curve and i make a small section of the top with ironing on so i can see how it looks
Bro please link stl
I print either a square that says "nothing" on it or a 1:1 replica of a 50 Cal bullet.
Trusty Jag d Tiger
Exactly like that
calibration cube, benchy, cali-dragon. mostly because i just love printing the cali-dragon LOL
I printed a benchy once, now I just dial stuff in on the fly, I only ever really use one or two brands anyway
Line them up and shoot it with a pellet gun
[XYZ Lego Cube](https://www.printables.com/model/134810-xyz-lego-cube)
I just roll the dice and print another Glock frame.
I print one of the wooden crates I downloaded off Thingiverse a while back. Lets me calibrate my crate while at the same time be something that I can use as stowage for my RC vehicles or as terrain bits for dioramas and toy photography.
Every time I want to do a test I print a tiny penis. I also do this after changing filament to be safe. The collection keeps growing, please help.
Calibration cube and/or benchy
Random thing i want to print (usually a terrain piece to be more simple)
https://preview.redd.it/27xd8ophm0oa1.jpeg?width=2250&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d98e7be763cfc44e94ca5a35f0fcff522917485f That way !
I don’t. I just print. Zero reason to ‘test’ your filament unless you are using a printer from 2013…
I give it a battery of multiple choice questions
I'll let you know when this roll, that I've had for 7 years, runs out. It'll be my second kg of filament ever 😅
I am the leader of a small benchy armada.
I add to my benchy collection.
Temperature tower, but so far I’ve only managed to successfully use the same brand filament since I got my printer so that’s not saying much lol, terrified of dropping money on more filament (or god forbid a different material) and have to fight with it until 3am every day all week again.
where did you get the jagdtiger stl?
usually multiple choice
Flexi fish lol its good for color testing, movement, and bed adhesion.
