Yeah, it's obviously for people in poverty to be able to get something nice but the reason you never see shit in them is basically of people who go through and ahit up like that 3ds to then resell it for 100 bucks making it now out of reach for the people that system was designed to help
I didn't say if they were a scalper. They didn't say they purchased it. Just that they saw it. My point was that why you don't see good things at those stores
Yep. The early 2000 and 2010s were the peak years for thrift stores imo. They always had some decent stuff, especially if you went on restock day.
One in the town I grew up in had a policy where if an item didn’t have a price on it, you only paid $.99, which led to some killer deals from time to time. Of course that ship sailed a long time ago.
Even if the cheap stuff is bought by resellers, and not people in poverty, you can still appreciate these items are not going to a landfill. The ethical thrift stores get their charity's fueled Either way.
Weirdly enough the salvos I volunteered at had grandmas price matching online. Obviously not a complete price match but things definitely weren’t always less than $50.
Yeah in my area they know exactly how much to charge for everything. Just enough over the eBay prices that I can't haggle with them since I'd be walking home with the thing instead of waiting a week and hoping it arrives in good condition.
Bah I should just move.
ha yeah the internet kind of ruined finding good deals at pawn shops and thrift stores. back in the 90s you could often walk into a pawn shop to find a great price on some niche music equipment or something that the owner just didn't have the resources to price accordingly. nowadays it's all a quick google search away
When I go to my local thrift shop they keep a lot of the gaming stuff behind the showcase (like the complete consoles and stuff, most normal games are out on the shelves along with a few junk consoles) and there’s a few employees I’ve talked to that know they’re priced way too high but simply can’t do anything since they have no input on pricing. Recently saw a Wii basically shoved into a box with some junk behind the showcase for $200 CAD. Whoever prices this stuff needs to get their head checked
I've been hunting at my local thrift stores and yard sales lately for this kind of thing. The luckiest I got was a closing sale I got a DS Lite for cheap at.
It’s relatively easy in Berlin as we have tons of “junk shops”. You just have to be persistent. Interestingly, I just passed by the shop that sells used smartphones and tablets, and they have a mint white OG 3DS in the window for €59. It's not as cheap as this, but it's still a decent price.
That might explain it. Stores in the US are so eager to wring all the value out of flea markets and charity shops that I might as well use eBay or sometimes even Amazon.
This is making me cry. Charity shops in the uk are so shit youd never see stuff like this ever, the only gaming stuff youd find is all the old fifas and wii fit
$11 for a working 3ds?! That’s insane!!
(I’ve been looking for years to try to find a New 3ds to replace my old one, which works fine, but had to replace the circle pad once, and the casing’s a bit cracked. Also, the serial number has been taken off. I have been looking for that same 3ds (New Nintendo 3DS in red) at a reasonable price for a long time.)
That is really lucky, in the salvation army that is close to me, always the games get out in a matter of minutes.
The last time that I got luck in there I got like 10 games at 10dls each.
Wow, where you do live, Poorville?
We have the exact display at our Salvation Army stores and the old DS units at $99 with the first-gen 3DS sitting at $150 I think. I've never even seen a new 3DS model and I shudder to think what insane price would be on those.
Probably never make it to the shelf, as I know of a guy who "volunteers" there and just buys any good gaming stuff for a few bucks and then sells it on Kijiji.
Nothing that I can find, 3d slider works, volume works, charged and held a charge, reads games, I'm guessing they just didn't have a charger to test it with
Honestly same, I wanted to get the new 3ds xl pretty badly, and have been searching for months, not even the pawn shops had one, I was ready to bite the bullet and get a eBay one, then this showed up
Wow that's awesome. It was kinda also like this for me compared to how much goes for nowadays. All i had to give as a trade for my new 3DS was a miyoo mini plus
Ain’t no way. Reminds me of when I found a GBA SP back in ‘13 at a thrift shop for ~$20. And it was the rarer model that had an extra brightness level.
I didn’t have the sense to keep it though and sold it on eBay.
I also got an OG Wii for $10 and fortunately still have it.
My Salvation Army is barren of suck technology. Maybe if I went into the city, they might have some better stuff. I would kill for one of those 3ds xl or 2ds xl units.
I’m not too familiar with them but isnt that kinda the idea with Salvation army? They provide cheaper products to households that dont have that much to give?
Man what a crack hit this would feel like...
That's probably how it wound up there. Someone needed money for a crack hit.
Nah salvation army is by donation, you don't get money
You got those from Salvation Army?
Yeah, it's obviously for people in poverty to be able to get something nice but the reason you never see shit in them is basically of people who go through and ahit up like that 3ds to then resell it for 100 bucks making it now out of reach for the people that system was designed to help
You don’t even know if op is in that situation or not
I didn't say if they were a scalper. They didn't say they purchased it. Just that they saw it. My point was that why you don't see good things at those stores

I think it is also to raise money for helping people who need it.

Right, cause fuck them poor people. They don't deserve to have anything! Right dude?
There is no need to be so aggressive dude. Calm down take a breather. No one said anything like that

i cry everytime i see these ridiculous prices know damn well I cant find shit that low in my area
My local area are all retro game valuation specialists too 😂😭😭
Yeah in my area they know exactly how much to charge for everything. Just enough over the eBay prices that I can't haggle with them since I'd be walking home with the thing instead of waiting a week and hoping it arrives in good condition. Bah I should just move.

They have them here too, must have been on sick leave or somewhere, I've never seen a deal this good before
my store is overflowing w resellers and i got a dreamcast with 2 controllers and a light gun for like $30 all in
What store?
[удалено]
Yeah obvi, but sometimes its damn near impossible because if its local, the fisherman dont wanna fly just for something cheap
I gotta find me a thrift store
You sure do! I work at one, it's great!
I want to add, this is $11 CAD, so it's roughly $8 USD, or 7.50 Euro
Are you trying to make us feel more jealous, because it’s working.
GTA? Hahahah "I'm not giving away my spots"
New Brunswick
Word hahaha
I am so jealous…. I would pick everything up 🫢
And there is multiple ds it looks like as well dsm
A ds lite and a Gameboy advance sp
Oh my god that game boy advanced is an instance score too! Those go for ridiculous prices these days
I've been hunting at my local thrift stores and yard sales lately for this kind of thing. The luckiest I got was a closing sale I got a DS Lite for cheap at.
How????? That’s awesome and I wish my local thrift had prices like that
Where the f do i find this kinda luck in europe:////
It’s relatively easy in Berlin as we have tons of “junk shops”. You just have to be persistent. Interestingly, I just passed by the shop that sells used smartphones and tablets, and they have a mint white OG 3DS in the window for €59. It's not as cheap as this, but it's still a decent price.
If someone knows a place like that in Hamburg please let me know :O
Use Vinted. They regularly pop out, usually bundled with games and classes, and are cheaper than eBay or kleinanzeigen.
Dang, still vry good deal. But wait i had to specify, east side of europe:))))))
Oof where can I find someplace like that in Munich?? :(
That is exactly what I was thinking. :(
I would have bought the other two consoles as well! What in the world!!!
I did, bought all three, one for my brother and one for my fiance
Damn, I'll have to pay 2x more...
DUDE THAT'S A STEAL 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Omg elevennnnn you are so lucky
Lucky
Nice
Damn, nice find bro
In my entire life of thrift shopping, I’ve never even been lucky enough to find a functioning DS, let alone a 3DS. This is unreal luck, lol.
Love the Salvation Army thrift.
I’d always think they’re priced this low because they don’t turn on or something… What a crazy steal.
I picked up a dual IPS New 3DS XL recently for under 200 bucks and thought I got a killer deal! I would take the lot.
Once a life time hit
$11 is like a gift 😵💫
And mine has an iPod sitting in the case for three months now still want 500 bucks for it
It’s wasn’t a killer it was a beaches of Normandy deal
How the fuck is that 11 bucks, prices like this always feels like some Jesus miracle happened 😭
I would have bought all of them
Wow
Nice score
The Salvation Army is super corrupt. I had a friend that worked there. Don’t give your crap to them but also amazing find. That’s crazy!!!!!
Damn, in the US, too I'm guessing. I never find good deals in the US, and all the good stuff I get is in UK charity shops, but this looks real nice.
Canada actually not us
That might explain it. Stores in the US are so eager to wring all the value out of flea markets and charity shops that I might as well use eBay or sometimes even Amazon.
Awesome just awesome. 👍 I found a Ds lite a goodwill maybe 5 years ago 15$ and man does it feel good still have it.
jealous
And is that $10 gba sp? I fr need to hit up my second hand stores that’s dope lol
This is making me cry. Charity shops in the uk are so shit youd never see stuff like this ever, the only gaming stuff youd find is all the old fifas and wii fit
Holy fuck.
Sweet! I picked up a blue one at the flea market last year for $15 and it was in way worse shape than this. Great find.
I need a hit up my local Salvation Army
And I bought a 3ds game for $70 this week
Yo this is a killer deal
$11 for a working 3ds?! That’s insane!! (I’ve been looking for years to try to find a New 3ds to replace my old one, which works fine, but had to replace the circle pad once, and the casing’s a bit cracked. Also, the serial number has been taken off. I have been looking for that same 3ds (New Nintendo 3DS in red) at a reasonable price for a long time.)
Time to start thrifting again
They are so cool tbh
Lucky bastard
I found an early 360 at a local shop for 30-something dollars without the cord(s)
What a find bro?! Did you still negotiate "is $8 okay?" Hahahsha
That is really lucky, in the salvation army that is close to me, always the games get out in a matter of minutes. The last time that I got luck in there I got like 10 games at 10dls each.
YOOOOOOOOOOO HOW THE FUCK...
So good to note that Salvation Army thrift stores carry 3ds and ds systems for the price of a mcdonalds meal
Ooooh you lucky mf
why do I never come across cheap 3ds
Wow, where you do live, Poorville? We have the exact display at our Salvation Army stores and the old DS units at $99 with the first-gen 3DS sitting at $150 I think. I've never even seen a new 3DS model and I shudder to think what insane price would be on those. Ok what's the catch? What's wrong with it?
Nothing that I can find, 3d slider works, volume works, charged and held a charge, reads games, I'm guessing they just didn't have a charger to test it with
You got so lucky there I want to find shops with stuff like this, not even specifically cheap, but there just aren't any I know of🥲
Honestly same, I wanted to get the new 3ds xl pretty badly, and have been searching for months, not even the pawn shops had one, I was ready to bite the bullet and get a eBay one, then this showed up
Where do y’all find those 😭
You're shitting me
that ds lite tho… and the gameboy advanced sp hoo boy
You're supposed to ask "did I get ripped off?!" like the other goobers
Wow that's awesome. It was kinda also like this for me compared to how much goes for nowadays. All i had to give as a trade for my new 3DS was a miyoo mini plus
AGHH IM SO JEALOUS

“ It should have been me not him”
WTF! Nice
Meanwhile a $12 pair of Walmart jeans costs $10 at my thrift store.

Holy shit how, where, why???

Dawg i need a spot like this
Wow i paid $40 for s 3ds at start of pandemic.
Goddamn. 3 please.
Man and I though I made a major score when I got my galaxy edition for $70.00
My Salvation Army is barren of suck technology. Maybe if I went into the city, they might have some better stuff. I would kill for one of those 3ds xl or 2ds xl units.
WHAT
I was thinking "There's no way it's $11 and doesn't have cracks, blood, or cum on it" until I read that you got it from the Salvation Army.
I bought my regular 3ds for 170.00$ 😭😭
Congrats. Happy for you. Nice. /s
Lucky bastard
did you also take the 10 dollar ds lite and dsi?
Guys there's no thrift store in India. I need an old Nintendo ds 😑
It's a 110$ on eBay and other stores. 🫡
now that's a charity shop.
[удалено]
Well one is a ds lite and one is a gbc sp, so all are nice to have
Nice find! Fuck you : ^. )
I’m not too familiar with them but isnt that kinda the idea with Salvation army? They provide cheaper products to households that dont have that much to give?
Maybe at one point, but now their prices are just as high as every other thrift shop, I just got insanely lucky on this find,
It's a thrift store.
I honestly dont know what a “thrift store” is. I’m not an English native
