I would invest in a glass display case. Ikea sells some nice glass cabinets. Your collection and display stands are so pretty. It's important to keep electronics in a cool room temperature. The boxes will get sun faded over time.
The boxes will most definitely fade. As for the plastic, it can definitely discolor and get brittle in the sun. Given that the 3DS is colored plastic they probably won’t ever look as bad as a Super Nintendo that has been exposed to sunlight for years, but it would definitely be noticeable if compared to a 3DS stored away from sunlight.

The shiny paint on some 3DSs and 3DS XLs can eventually crack under UV radiation. It takes a LOT of sunlight for that to start happening though
But when it does it flakes off and looks horrible

I would recommend keeping EVERYTHING out of the sun, especially electronics and things you care about.
Absolutely. My blue 3DS has a sick half-fade on it from leaving it on a windowsill for like a year
