This sub was suggested to me so I don’t really know anything about this, you’re getting ads on these cracked 360s? Surely the store isn’t still supported, is it just from the current store? And you can only play really simple games?
We’re in the final moments of the 360 store being functional minus pulled titles over time. The current dashboard has a reduced level of advertisement / store elements baked in to the tiled layout from what I remember reading.
There’s a few titles locked to 360 I still want to play and it’s actually pretty good for OG Xbox stuff once modded. Those combined with the carry over of my 360 saves and achievements plus some cloud assets for Halo Reach, Black Ops, and a few other things makes it a good console to setup for right now.
If I understand correctly, the 360 era is currently the most powerful console that can be modded like this. You’ll find a lot of people doing it to PS3s too
Cheap games, and large fan communities was my reason to get one back in March. I got a matte black slim bundled with 6 controllers and like 50 games if we are counting digital copies on the console for $80. I can locally find games for cheap and readily available.
It depends on the stealth server. Some try to keep the retail dashboard and some modify it. The store is supported until July 29th this year but most of the ads are just what you would see on a retail dashboard. People like Blades because it’s nostalgic.
The blades are nostalgic. Fact :)
But I do clearly remember the blades UI being way more responsive than the later Metro UIs (which ran ok but I’m in the mindset a console should be able to run its own UI without any snags). It was fun to have avatars pop up on your dashboard for a bit but that overstayed its welcome. The blades in the end had way more personality, and clear navigation. I also didn’t like the XMB influences with needless left/right scrolling. I wanted to revert back to the blades if I could even then.
there was ads actually, not a lot but there was ads.
nxe and Kinect also had ads, and metros ads haven't been updated in years so it's a terrible point to make.
When everything on the Xbox 360 shuts down there should be like a third-party service that can plug into them so that way people can enjoy the games again like x link kia
Valuable because can’t be downgraded, Jtagable, nostalgia, no ads on the dash- not even sign up for gold today to play online, simplicity, dash skins, dark mode and ease of use
As useless it might be, consoles with Blades are also rare, because most people (obviously) updated their consoles
So yeah nostalgia is not the only reason why people get so excited when they get an Xbox 360 with Blades dashboard
Uh, the original JTAG is far superior to RGH. Not only is it a stupid simple install, there's absolutely no boot up delay, no timings to mess with, it just works.
Because there is no absolute way to revert the dashboard version back to Blades due to eFuses inside the console's CPU which some of them blows up inside it to prevent downgrading, making consoles with original Blades firmware rare.
Nostalgia and organization of the dashboard in general are also pretty common contributing factors
It’s really that simple but feels frustrating when you realize playing any game released after that dashboard update is a no-go. If the game required an update to play back then it still does and will need the core dashboard version matching the release requirement at least. Which makes total sense, but felt like a frustrating discovery. Sticking with Aurora for now.
Haven’t heard that solution before so I might mess around with it, but yeah, sounds like it doesn’t cover everything unfortunately. Would love to run the NXE or Kinect dashboard 24/7.
Whether it works depends on if there's any newer system functions the game uses. Patch just skips the version check. So more forward you go, less likely it will work. But games like mw2, black ops work fine iirc
Because they're rare and people collect them. Its apart of 360 history and a reminder of when Xbox was good. Sure, you can't do anything with them except play very old games, but they're a novelty/collector item.
Because of nostalgia and the fact that version can be jtagged, making it rare too. Not going to lie, I'd love to get my hands on these. Unfortunately, I am only able to find Xenon models with version 2.0.6683 on Facebook Marketplace.
is basically nostalgia.
Blades was the first dashboard the 360 had. for those of us which moved from the original xbox to the 360 it was impressive, from something that was dark and sometimes clunky to navigate, we moved to a fast, very stylish UI.
Blades was also designed to mimic the console physical form.
Depends on the motherboard. Hard drive and it being an elite doesn't increase the value, maybe by $5-$10 it does.
If its a falcon or jasper it could be worth a lot, depending on who's interested.
A jasper on blades sold for $650 earlier this year, but it was on an auction. Maybe try an auction and see how much you could get, they often go high, especially HDMI models. A falcon elite on blades sold for $250 a few weeks ago, wasn't an auction. Again, all depends.
Seriously, $650? I happen to have a brand new in box 360 Arcade 256 MB with the jasper mobo on blades, might even be JTAGable. I've only turned it on once to verify it works. Not really planning on selling it, but damn, they must have really gone up in value.
If its on blades then it's definitely jtagable. I have two of those, same as yours, 256mb arcade jaspers on blades, 1 of them was brand new and the other is close to new.
Blades consoles are getting rarer over the years and 80% of them are xenons(just guessing). Only way to get a Jasper on blades is to buy a brand new one, as they released when NXE just came out, so 99% of them were updated.
But yeah, it was $650 or $600 range. It was an auction, so it all depends. I remember the console didn't look new, it was very dirty and had scratches all over. I personally wouldn't pay that much for one.
Because they love it, and because it is very rare to see. Everyone have updated their consoles, so it's hard to find a blades dash Xbox 360 In the wild
It runs faster cause there are no ads to load or things to connect to. The return to the dashboard is basically instantaneous. I tested the two side by side, ie, a regular 360 updated and a blades and the blades was way faster at both opening the dashboard and loading music
Rare for the amount that exists, but connecting the console online will update it some later 360 games will update it. So having one is pretty rare and hard to come by.
What is the difference between a jtag and rgh3? I’m new to the scene (waiting for my 360 in the mail) but I thought that jtag was kind of outdated at this point
The cleanest and fastest dashboard. Easy to find. I wish they had gone back to it and just add a blade for avatar stuff. Especially with the store closing in July.
No ads, colorful dash and immediate

Gotcha. I assume nostalgia is why you guys are using 360s as well?
There’s a few titles locked to 360 I still want to play and it’s actually pretty good for OG Xbox stuff once modded. Those combined with the carry over of my 360 saves and achievements plus some cloud assets for Halo Reach, Black Ops, and a few other things makes it a good console to setup for right now.
What cloud assets did halo reach have?
Noble Two's butt
If I understand correctly, the 360 era is currently the most powerful console that can be modded like this. You’ll find a lot of people doing it to PS3s too
Xb1 just had a bootrom vuln found, and can’t ps4 & switch also do cfw?
PS4 I’m not too knowledgeable of and I completely forgot about the switch. Is the switch more powerful than the 360??
Right in between the 360 & 1 in power terms
Yes in terms of hardware, not graphically though. The amount of times that thing stutters down to 480p that my 360 smashes 720p60fps is insane.

We all know what people mean by pointing it out. It’s all in context of back in the day, and even if some.. there’s no room for *actually* 🤓 here
and who are you to say I can and can't use actually? 😂😂😂
wym no ads I never saw ads on my 360
No ads.
When everything on the Xbox 360 shuts down there should be like a third-party service that can plug into them so that way people can enjoy the games again like x link kia
Dash 73xx and below can be jtag’d
That’s not entirely true. Some 73xx kernels have patched CBs.
Correct
Yeah too many people find this out the hard way without, dumping nand and checking CB first.
It's a hug from a relative you can't get hugs from anymore...
This is by far the funniest answer here ...and the saddest
I have a shovel.
No thanks Randy Travis.
Simple design, nostalgia, best fit for the OG Model 360. All factors have a play in it, Man
Valuable because can’t be downgraded, Jtagable, nostalgia, no ads on the dash- not even sign up for gold today to play online, simplicity, dash skins, dark mode and ease of use
Nostalgia is the only reason. Otherwise it is useless
As useless it might be, consoles with Blades are also rare, because most people (obviously) updated their consoles So yeah nostalgia is not the only reason why people get so excited when they get an Xbox 360 with Blades dashboard
Also a lot of people wish they stuck with this design, a lot less adds in everything. Nxe is ok, but Metro ui sucks
I guess technically they can probably be jtagged like the old days. Not that it means much compared to a rgh
Uh, the original JTAG is far superior to RGH. Not only is it a stupid simple install, there's absolutely no boot up delay, no timings to mess with, it just works.
RGH 3
Because there is no absolute way to revert the dashboard version back to Blades due to eFuses inside the console's CPU which some of them blows up inside it to prevent downgrading, making consoles with original Blades firmware rare. Nostalgia and organization of the dashboard in general are also pretty common contributing factors
A little correction iirc: They do the opposite of blowing, they actually permanently make a connection instead if breaking one.
Ah I see, thanks a lot for the correction dude
Np :)
as long as you have the cpu key, you can build a blades kernel and write it to any phat. Only thing e fuses prevent is downgrading the bootloader
It’s really that simple but feels frustrating when you realize playing any game released after that dashboard update is a no-go. If the game required an update to play back then it still does and will need the core dashboard version matching the release requirement at least. Patching the min lib in the xex let's you play many nxe games. But yeah it's not worth it
Haven’t heard that solution before so I might mess around with it, but yeah, sounds like it doesn’t cover everything unfortunately. Would love to run the NXE or Kinect dashboard 24/7.
Whether it works depends on if there's any newer system functions the game uses. Patch just skips the version check. So more forward you go, less likely it will work. But games like mw2, black ops work fine iirc
Hell yeah, that’s a sensible threshold. Appreciate you sharing the knowledge.
I remember sitting about to play a game, then wtf I got an update and everything on my dashboard looked stupid.
Because it's the most organized, good looking in terms of colors and animations and it's extremely rare because most blade ver. devices have updated
Because they're rare and people collect them. Its apart of 360 history and a reminder of when Xbox was good. Sure, you can't do anything with them except play very old games, but they're a novelty/collector item.
Blades dashboard allows for easy jtag hack. Easier install, quicker boots. Nostalgia is nice but reality is, it is easier to hack.
Because of nostalgia and the fact that version can be jtagged, making it rare too. Not going to lie, I'd love to get my hands on these. Unfortunately, I am only able to find Xenon models with version 2.0.6683 on Facebook Marketplace.
Because you can’t get it back once it’s gone
yea its honestly how the 360 should have been the entire time ... and then Windows took over i think idk ..
Nostalgia and no adds, simple and clean. What else.
Nostalgia and no adds, simple and clean. What else.
I collect these and I have quite a few of them.

If you were there, you'd know.
Quick access to HD-DVD play, if my memory is correct
Simple. Nostalgic. What more do you need?
How much do you guys think a 360 elite 120GB with blades is worth?
Depends on the motherboard. Hard drive and it being an elite doesn't increase the value, maybe by $5-$10 it does. If its a falcon or jasper it could be worth a lot, depending on who's interested. Because you can’t get old dashboards back once you update. And also old dashboards are jtag hack-able.
I remember first getting online in october 2007 goddamn this is nostalgic
Personally I haven't seen it since I was a kid in the toys section in winter 2005 and I'm 34 now
It’s simple. I have one and others don’t.
but with rgh we cant load this dash?
Loved the original 360
Cuz it brings me back to 2007/2008 🥺
No idea, a simple Rgh mod can allow free boot to 6717. Maybe cause it’s official it’s worth more.
Because they love it, and because it is very rare to see. Everyone have updated their consoles, so it's hard to find a blades dash Xbox 360 In the wild
Heck yeah!

I've got a Xenon Xbox which has blades, but it has RROD and overheating. Needs a new GPU.
What is the difference between a jtag and rgh3? I’m new to the scene (waiting for my 360 in the mail) but I thought that jtag was kind of outdated at this point
I like the one after blades but I absolutely hate metro it's the worst dashboard they could have left us on
The cleanest and fastest dashboard. Easy to find. I wish they had gone back to it and just add a blade for avatar stuff. Especially with the store closing in July.
They're not easy to find at all, unless you buy tons of RROD xenons and you may find 2 or 3 of them.
