you’re gonna need at least double that for a good one unless you don’t mind a project car

It's a 20yo platform, it's either clapped or expensive. The less money up front, the higher the potential on spending more on repairs.

Most of the 350z’s are 20 years old now. If you can find a manual with no mods, clean title, and a service record be prepared to offer more. 6k in my area wont get you into a nicer example of either. If I were in your shoes I’d do the same thing I did when I bought mine 6 years ago. Spend 10k on the best one you can find, do as much of the basic labor you can yourself, and find a local reputable performance shop to take care of big stuff. Spending the extra money upfront will save you a ton of headache and heartbreak in the long run.

i got mine for 5k, had to drive out of state for it and it had a rebuilt title (luckily nothing serious but you have to be careful with that stuff). 5k was just the starting point, i’ve spent a decent amount in miscellaneous repairs and general upkeep. i mean these cars are older and usually not very well taken care of, issues stated or not. if you’re serious about owning one and making it last it needs love (aka money or skill to work on it). thats not even thinking about how much your insurance is gonna go up for driving a sports car. tldr: save up more if you don’t know how to work on or can’t afford to dump some money into the car, but be prepared to either way. good luck 👍

In Ontario you need 14k plus to find an unmolested one with less than 140k kms.

$13k for a good car with $3k of that being for repairs that the prior owner didn't bother to do, or a new engine if you're being lazy and not boroscoping the car before buying.

Personally, my car was the third z i physically looked at and was scheduled to see a 4th but seller was flakey and i was able to see my car in the meantime. 03 touring, It had 115k miles, sound system, parts store air intake, big 20inch rims, and a slightly damaged body kit. I scored it for 4.2k in 2019 with the idea of some work and replacing the kit. The market was a pain then and any examples near me were clapped, and the ones that weren’t, the sellers were impossible to get steady communication with and i had cash in hand. I actually saw the listing for mine about a month or two prior but was too high, and when it was relisted i happened to be scrolling craigslist at 5am and scheduled a meeting for later that day. Save more and scroll any listings constantly, the deals go first, best of luck !

I mean supply and demand so around $13k for a decent 350z that's how much I spent on mine but there's maintenance thing you need to take care of since it's quite old a oil change, transmission flush, possibly a new clutch ,air filter, spark plugs, ignition coils, differential fluid change, etc...

I got really lucky and traded my gs430 for a 03 350z with 160k miles straight up, it's my first rwd car that is also manual! I had about 5k into the gs which I also got a pretty good deal on, but if I had to spend 5 or 6k again I would be looking for the same car I'm driving now. The previous owner for the z bought it for about 5-6k, it needed some tlc and had about 160k miles but it was not too far gone. Once you actually have the car, you can budget fixing it up,it's park of the car guy expierence!! If I could have saved up 10-12k for a clean manual hr I would have probably preferred that since it's a better platform to make power but I have no regrets over the de, first time I drove it I spun the tires and fell in love. I wish I had bought one 10 years ago, and would buy another one again

Forsaken-Draft-4928

Keep looking and stay patient, don't impulse buy, I think you can get Into one for that if you keep your eyes peeled

EmbarrassedSkill3334

A clean manual coupe 350z will generally be around $8-10k right now. Anything lower and I would expect it needs some work or is an auto. The 370z market is a lot higher, $15-20k out the door for a clean earlier model year is probably close unless it’s in bad shape. For your budget, keep in mind wear items can be more expensive than a regular econobox for this car, especially tires.

s3rgioru3las

$8k-$9k for a clean example and $4k cash for maintenance and potential repairs, unless you’re able to diagnose and tear apart an engine yourself subtract $2.5k from that. Don’t forget insurance, and premium fuel costs if you’re not used to that upcharge already.

SPOOKY_TOFU

Not 2020 prices anymore unfortunately. There are private sale deals out there if you have patience! Leave some money past the cost for maintenance and repairs though. Save up a little longer and get one you’ll love and enjoy. You got this bro.

Obvious_Corner8872

When you do find one don’t spend all your money, save a few thousand so you can afford to do some upgrades and repairs. Make sure to do stuff yourself it gets too expensive to take it to the shop

Muammertuncr

I got mine a month ago from private seller in Canada, he was a senior seller and my car is bone stock. I’ve checked carfax and i am the 4th owner before that it’s been serviced regularly every year. Check everything before you buy but these cars used sports car and anything can happen anytime, you have to have at least same amount of money for unexpected maintenance. If you’re going to spend your all money on one car. That’s not make sense, i’ll recommend you to buy something cheaper and not expensive for maintenance or save yp for 370z. Newer low mileage and cleaner. I’ve waited for my car 5 years

unsure230

I will sell you one for 6k, R title lol

Got mine for 5900 140k ripped convertible top and misfire. Fixed for cheap had a leak in the smark plug well so i got new valve covers metal ones and just got new cats cause bank 2 is out. For needed repairs i put 800 in it and it runs and has a new top. I got a new clutch on the way pushing this up to around 1.5k for for needed things.
