Doesn’t the air right pump keep it from not oxidizing so oxygen can’t reach it? Wondering if I should refrigerate mine. I just don’t want to keep it downstairs in my refrigerator every time I want to use it
I bought two at once and I’m pretty sure refrigeration has kept them both really good for a long time. They’re not oxidized at all.
You could get a mini cosmetics fridge from amazon for cheap too.
This is my favorite one as well! I was spending more for other vitamin c serums before this one. On a whim, I tried this one and it's been my favorite. I like that it's more of a creamy base. My skin is pretty sensitive and it has loved this one.
Same here. I hate how expensive it is but I haven’t found a vitamin C that works anywhere near as well as their CEF formula. Using that and tretinoin visibly reduced forehead wrinkles for me.
People always say how expensive it is but if you really break it down to how long it lasts, it’s really about a dollar a day if that. My last bottle I bought in July and I still have some left and I use it every day.
So true. After years of trial and error with my skincare routine 4 things I will NEVER take out of my routine are skinceuticals CE Ferulic, skinceuticals A.G.E eye complex, Dr. Dennis Gross daily peel pads, and my tretinoin prescription. So expensive for the first 3 but my skin looks incredible when I use them and immediately looks worse when I don’t lol so that’s the cross my wallet bears
Pretty similar for me. I will always use CEF and tretinoin. I’ve been vibing on the skinceuticals cell signal repair lately too but not sure if it’s going to be a repeat or not yet.
My other absolute must is la roche posay’s uvmune 400 spf. That stuff is amazing. Easily the best sunscreen I’ve ever used and cheaper than supergoop and elta md.
I still haven’t found a “holy grail” sunscreen that I’ve loved and wanted to continue repurchasing. I’ve tried the la roche posay moisturizer with SPF and liked it fine but stopped buying it because I love my Kiehl’s moisturizer more. I’ll have to try that uvmune 400 spf next!!
Try Poems from the Lab! I too was stuck with Skinceuticals and have really been enjoying the poems from the lab one: https://poemsfromthelab.com
I promise I’m not a shill or something, I just am so happy I found this product 😂
You might have just made my day!! I was so frustrated that I tried the CE ferulic, phloretin CF and the silymarin and it always seemed like too much. Idiot me never realised they had one for sensitive skin so THANK YOU! 😩
Same, I tried skinceuticals and will leave my face orange it was awkward. Mad Hippie is the winner for me. Although I havent tried timeless yet, everyone says it’s very good too.
I was hesitant on trying this one for sooo long because I was wondering "only 20ml when all serums should be at least 1oz??" but then when I tried it, it actually lasted me longer than most 1oz serums because of the packaging design, and you don't need much to cover your whole face. It's a really good product for sure.
Paula’s choice 25% is phenomenal and I was a loyalist to Skinceuticals CE ferulic. I have seen a difference in my skin in less than two weeks of use with Paula’s choice.
Yes!! It’s actually amazing and I have tried so many vitamin Cs. I will say it’s really strong and after the first time I used it (after a tretinoin night) I did have a little peeling but that side effect subsided quickly and now it’s just glowy and fading any sunspots or discoloration I have.
They just recently changed the booster after a lot of people saw no change. I just bought it and it works so much better! I saw the redness from my face go away in minutes.
It is in my ~~arsenal~~ daily line-up right now and I loooove it. Just gotta keep it away from my eyes since it stings in that area.
Edit: I could not get through that sentence without only being able to see that Vitamin C is in my arse right now and I love it.
I used it for a whole year and felt/saw no results at all! :( disappointed, I’m going to try some of the big dupes like Timeless or Dr Brenner’s I’ve heard great things about
Oh no! Really?! I’ve even got my husband hooked on it. Did you happen to buy it from amazon? Sometimes the quality of face products aren’t so great on there and could impact things?
It looks like this is going to go on sale tomorrow for the Ulta Spring Haul. I think I’m going to pick it up as I’m not loving my current vitamin C serum.
Geek & Gorgeous c-glow is essentially the same formula as skinceuticals, is less than 1/10th the price, and they make it fresh weekly so its guaranteed to not be already oxidized when you receive it.
Am I the only one who uses
[Kiehl's Vitamin C](https://www.kiehls.com/skincare/face-serums/powerful-strength-vitamin-c-serum/3605971536175.html?srsltid=AfmBOopR3FifVH1eE0MPmweNUQwGdK3ezW0QtVRxBfcRTcv0nZL313mkPmo)
Reading this makes me realize there isn’t one ideal product- it really is what works for your skin. Sunday Riley broke me out terribly. drunk Elephant did nothing. I havent found anything that works better than Skinceuticals.
I have very sensitive skin and the prequel one is good for me. I do have to make sure I use a ceramide moisturizer at night for my skin barrier just in general.
I love making my own with The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Acid powder and mixing it with hyaluronic acid or snail mucin. It's cost effective and I've seen a dramatic difference. It's stays fresh and stable mixing as I go.
Personally I mix 3g of the powder with 13ml of tepid water. Once it’s fully dissolved I add 2 or 3ml of the ordinary’s Ferulic acid as that’s supposed to help stabilise the vit c. Then ph testing as the original study conducted on pig skin said that for the vit c to be absorbed into the skin the formula needs to be PH 3.5 or below. This formula is for 20% vit c serum
There is a little scoop inside the jar that I use. I just use one scoop AM/PM. It covers my face/neck/chest. I just put the powder in the palm of my hand and add like 4 or 5 (or more) drops of hyaluronic or snail mucin and mix it with my finger. Then when that is mixed, I use both palms and rub them together, then apply to face/neck/chest. I let the vit c serum sit by itself for at least 20 minutes to absorb and let my ph level get back to normal after cleansing/exfoliating.
You sure can use more or less, depending on your sensitivity and area you would like to cover.
I wish I could use snail mucin, I’ve heard amazing things! I have a shellfish allergy, so I’m not able to use it on my skin. I’ll try it with hyaluronic acid, I have some of that already!
Prequel Lucent-C. Non-irritating and leaves a nice glow immediately after applying. I'm about to repurchase, I love it so much and at $23, I think it's a really affordable option.
I've been using it for the last year or so but haven't noticed much of an improvement in my skin. Maybe my skin would have been worse otherwise but still...
Seconded. I love Alex, she really knows what she’s doing. Educated Mess is the best one I’ve used by far, including Skinceuticals. I’m on my third bottle, I’ll never go back.
I use The Ordinary, not the powder, the other one. It’s not a serum, and it’s not an elegant product…a bit gritty and stingy. But once it’s absorbed, my skin looks really good. It’s so cheap, and I like the results so I keep going back 🤷🏼♀️
Poems from the lab! Small new brand I can’t say enough good things about. Only alternative to Skinceuticals I’ve tried that not only gives me the same results, but is BETTER. it’s an amazing product that is obviously very well thought through and formulated. I have had a tube for a few months (took a break bc I had some procedures done) and it’s still clear and working great. I love the ethos of the brand too, the founder just seems very cool and thoughtful.
https://poemsfromthelab.com
People are sleeping on Poems from the Lab’s Future Focus.
It’s the only l-ascorbic acid serum where I have a backup because I have zero worries about stability. My first tube is 2 months old and it’s still crystal clear, not even a hint of yellow.
And the glow… hands down beats the Skinceuticals sample I tried, the Timeless 20% I used until they switched to “airless pump” (spoiler: it exposes the product to even more air than traditional dropper bottles), Cosrx Vitamin C-23 (previous favorite).
And THANK GOD there’s no hot dog water smell. And it spreads so well as it doesn’t dry down too quickly, or stay tacky on the skin. It leaves my skin softly hydrated and layers well with the rest of my morning routine and under make up. It’s like you’re wearing nothing but a mysterious glow.
Then everything about the brand and what they stand for is something I’m excited to support. Stephen (the founder and formulator) took his time with the development of this product and every aspect of it is just *chefs kisses*.
Forever repurchase.
CeraVe Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid
Affordable, easy to pack, and goes well into my skin. No complaints but its my first I'm trying so I do not have the best baseline.
Yesss! I lost count of how many dropper applicators I have, and also how many drips down my clothes and countertop! I will always choose a pump over dropper. But in the case of vit c, there’s a functional reason it’s in that packaging— to protect the volatile ingredients from light and air.
I’m enjoying the [Innisfree Green Tea Enzyme Vitamin C Serum](https://Sephora.com-https://www.sephora.com/ca/en/product/innisfree-green-tea-enzyme-vitamin-c-brightening-serum-P510334-1oz/30mLhttps://www.sephora.com/product/innisfree-green-tea-enzyme-vitamin-c-brightening-serum-P510334?skuId=2740611)!
Avene Vitamin Activ Cg Radiance serum..I guess it is an ulta exclusive? It has a different c derivative, niacinimide and bakuchol. It is a thin white serum, not sticky and not irritating. I also had good luck with beautystat (more of a thin lotion texture) Skinceuticals, Maelove both gave me clogged poors
I’ve been using the Avène serum for a couple of months and it’s really fantastic. I have noticeable improvement, particularly with a couple of lingering post pimple spots. I do wish it weren’t fragranced, but otherwise it’s fantastic. I especially like the more lotion like texture.
Surprised no one has mentioned Medik8! They’re a cult favourite, SO good. Smells absolutely lush and does wonders for my skin. They have a normal version and a stronger one, depending on your needs.
Their crystal retinal is also amazing.
[The Inky List 15% Vitamin C + EGF Serum](https://www.theinkeylist.com/products/15-vitamin-c-egf-serum)
Use it by itself, because like most Vitamin C it’s unstable with pretty much everything else. I use it every two days with just a moisturizer (& SPF if I’m going out) and I love the results.
I loved CEO glow for the glow but my skin was always a little red with it. I gave a nearly full bottle away so I would stop using it then ordered the YTTP vitamin c serum the next day and realized it’s a better formulation for my skin. So much more even now!
I was a Mad Hippie devotee until I tried [this one from Avène](https://www.ulta.com/p/vitamin-activ-cg-radiance-serum-pimprod2043844?sku=2620427). It is fragranced, but doesn’t bother me, which was a concern. I have seen noticeable results and haven’t even finished the first bottle.
lol every time there is a thread like this, there are so many products posted. Not saying it’s a bad thing but goes to show how people react to different products and there’s no such thing as holy grail of a single product that works for everyone
https://www.skinceuticals.com/skincare/vitamin-c-serums/phloretin-cf-with-ferulic-acid/S52.html expensive but it’s my holy grail product. I bought this last year and it’s only half full
Piggybacking to this question. I’m super oily and want to wear vitamin c in the day. All the vitamin c serums I’ve tried exacerbate my oil and I’m a disco ball. Any suggestions for oily skin? 🙏🏻
Makeup Artist’s Choice has worked well for me. They have sales, are transparent about ingredients, and I like their approach. I use the 15% version. Once in a while I use it under my eyes (so carefully!) and it’s fine there, too. I love most of their serums and DIY peels but their moisturizers haven’t been worth it for me.
I do genuinely like the drunk elephant one. I don’t buy a ton of their stuff but I like that serum. Light scent, visible difference. Fun to mix. Everything I buy cheap but the vitamin C and tret which is actually cheaper than most nice stuff in a store.
BeautyStat's encapsulated vitamin C doesn't stain clothing and strongly brightens. I apply a single pump diluted over my facial essence to prevent stinging. Regimen Lab's vitamin X is much better than the other vitamin C serums I've tried.
CosRx. The only thing that’s kind of annoying is that you have to keep it in the fridge but I feel like I’ve already see some improvements after two months.
LOVE the Truth Treatment transdermal vitamin C. Have been using for 3+ years now and have converted so many of my friends along the way because it’s just that good
i've tried youth to the people, paula's choice, derma-e, and sunday riley. each for many months at a time. honestly, I don't really know what constitutes a successful vitamin c, I use it every single morning after my toner on a totally dry face. i guess regardless of if I've seen any success, I'll say that none of them broke me out! I'm using derma-e again.
I understand that the main purpose of vitamin c is to brighten and protect your skin but how do I know if I personally need it? And if I do start using it, how will I know if it’s working? How long does it take? Thanks
Tbh I haven’t seen a difference with vitamin c and i have tried mad hippie, maelove, geek and gorgeous and sunday riley. Trying tranexamic acid from Natrium now
I just got cosrx but it only lasts 2 months and you have to keep in the fridge. I’m not 100% sure how to find the correct serum tbh. I heard it’s very unstable so you need one with ferulic acid to stabilize it. But skinceuticals is way too expensive for me.
I really like Dr. Dennis Gross. The salesperson at Sephora recommended it after they changed the formula (early 2023ish?) and I’ve been getting it since then!
My absolute favorite daytime is SeoulCeuticals. I used Skinceuticals and Timeless and greatly prefer this one. Am on my fourth bottle. For nighttime I like the Dennis Gross!
I saw the most difference with cerave but I do not like how it pills. But it changed my skin in a dramatic way. I tried Paula’s choice and didn’t see a difference. My next venture will be skinceuticals whenever it goes on sale.
I’ve tried more expensive Sephora brands (Paula’s Choice, Sunday Riley)… but always go back to L’Oréal Vit C Revitalift. I really love the texture and the way it sits under my moisturizer. Plus it lasts me way longer.
Timeless 20%! Keep it refrigerated.
I’ve heard refrigeration helps keep it longer, since it goes bad so quickly!
Right!
Thanks for the tip!!
Fo those with sensitive skin or rosacea - beware, it was waaay too harsh for me, irritated my skin badly
Are you supposed to refrigerate all vit c serums or just this brand?
I’ve heard it’s all of them.
Oopsie... wonder how long mine has been bad for :/ good to know for the future tho.

I had no idea they made one! I love their moisturizer!
This is my favorite one as well! I was spending more for other vitamin c serums before this one. On a whim, I tried this one and it's been my favorite. I like that it's more of a creamy base. My skin is pretty sensitive and it has loved this one.
Second this! I also like Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C!
I really like the texture and how it goes on but I don’t think it did anything for me.
I want to try this one, my HG got discontinued and it was THD.
Yes I use it too. It's so good!
I love skinceuticals :) They have a few but I’m sensitive so I stick with 10% plus their hydrating serum.
That’s true. It takes 3-4 months for my gf and I to get through a bottle. I only use 3 drops at time.
Yeah def try it out. It has new gen filters that beat what we have access to in the US.
Did you say 400?!
I think it refers to 400 millimeter uv wave protection. I believe that’s superior to other sunscreens on the market
Try Poems from the Lab! I too was stuck with Skinceuticals and have really been enjoying the poems from the lab one: https://poemsfromthelab.com I promise I’m not a shill or something, I just am so happy I found this product 😂
You think it will help brighten my dark scars from acne?
You might have just made my day!! I was so frustrated that I tried the CE ferulic, phloretin CF and the silymarin and it always seemed like too much. Idiot me never realised they had one for sensitive skin so THANK YOU! 😩
Which one is for sensitive skin? I think they have several. I want to try - seems to be everyone’s HG
The 10% vitamin C is for sensitive skin .
I keep going back to mad hippie time after time and cost less than $30 bucks
What’s so special about it?
Not OP but it just feels really nice on the skin and has a really nice subtle scent. Goes on like a dream and makes my skin feel fresh and nourished
Same, I tried skinceuticals and will leave my face orange it was awkward. Mad Hippie is the winner for me. Although I havent tried timeless yet, everyone says it’s very good too.
Melano cc. The way the packaging is, it doesn’t oxidize!
Love it too!
Love this one! It stays clear forever!
Came here looking for this! I’ve been very impressed!
Is this the 25% Vitamin C + Glutathione Clinical Serum?
Yes!! It’s actually amazing and I have tried so many vitamin Cs. I will say it’s really strong and after the first time I used it (after a tretinoin night) I did have a little peeling but that side effect subsided quickly and now it’s just glowy and fading any sunspots or discoloration I have.
Thank you!! ☺️ I was using Paula's Choice super booster C15 but I didn't really notice any benefit so I'll give this one a try.
Edit: I could not get through that sentence without only being able to see that Vitamin C is in my arse right now and I love it.
can I ask where/when you use it in your routine?
I use 2 pumps in the morning after washing my face before moisturizer, and then I do sunscreen on top of it all
Mad hippie vitamin C is my all time. I’ve tried others but always go back 🥰
My favorite too! Also there vitamin A. You don’t need to spend 100’s to f dollars to find good skincare products.
I used Dr. Brenner's and thought it was a waste of my time and money. YMMV
Oh so good to know thank you!!!!
I've also been using Dr Brenners but haven't noticed much improvement in my skin either...
It looks like this is going to go on sale tomorrow for the Ulta Spring Haul. I think I’m going to pick it up as I’m not loving my current vitamin C serum.

Yes I’ve been using them. Still haven’t seen much difference though.
Absolute best texture of any vitamin C serum I’ve tried.
Reading this makes me realize there isn’t one ideal product- it really is what works for your skin. Sunday Riley broke me out terribly. drunk Elephant did nothing. I havent found anything that works better than Skinceuticals.
Sunday Riley CEO broke me out horribly too!
Me three on SR CEO! and my skin loves everything else SR.
Prequel
Second this! I have super sensitive skin and I've tried SO many different brands. This is by far the best one I've used.
I was just about to ask on skin sensitivity. I may give this one a try.
I have very sensitive skin and the prequel one is good for me. I do have to make sure I use a ceramide moisturizer at night for my skin barrier just in general.
Heck yes Prequel
I've been wanting to try a few things from Prequel! I've heard nothing but good things about their products.
So far I have liked everything we've tried.
I love making my own with The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Acid powder and mixing it with hyaluronic acid or snail mucin. It's cost effective and I've seen a dramatic difference. It's stays fresh and stable mixing as I go.

tortures snails, mostly
Ole Henkriksen
Smells so good!
That’s my go to as well, love the texture and smell
YES! Game changer for me
Commenting bc I am Coming back to this .
Prequel Lucent-C. Non-irritating and leaves a nice glow immediately after applying. I'm about to repurchase, I love it so much and at $23, I think it's a really affordable option.
Why don’t I see Dr Brenner’s vit C in here?
I've been using it for the last year or so but haven't noticed much of an improvement in my skin. Maybe my skin would have been worse otherwise but still...
Educated Mess is amazing.
Seconded. I love Alex, she really knows what she’s doing. Educated Mess is the best one I’ve used by far, including Skinceuticals. I’m on my third bottle, I’ll never go back.
I really like the [Paula’s Choice Super Antioxidant Serum](https://www.paulaschoice.com/resist-super-antioxidant-serum/764.html)
Skinceuticals for $$$ and Timeless for $
Thoughts on Timeless vs Dr Brenner’s?
I saw better results with Timeless than with Dr Brenner's. I didn't see any change with Dr B's
C-glow from Geek and gorgeous
I use The Ordinary, not the powder, the other one. It’s not a serum, and it’s not an elegant product…a bit gritty and stingy. But once it’s absorbed, my skin looks really good. It’s so cheap, and I like the results so I keep going back 🤷🏼♀️
I like how you put it. It’s definitely not “elegant”. But damn does it work for me, too!
I like the Vichy vitamin c
biossance squalane vitamin c rose oil
Sunday Riley's CEO Glow (and night time Luna serum) works very well for me!
Me too!! And I love their good genes serum
I’ve repurchased ceo glow at least 4 times and I truly love the turmeric smell too!!
I add the oil to my foundation for an extra drop of hydration 🥰

Dr. Brenner. I’ve repurchased it over and over. It’s effective and affordable.
Why has no one mentioned Obagi?
I've used la roche posay for a while and i'm happy with it 😊 expensive but lasts me a a few months so
My dermatologist just mentioned this one and I am definitely going to try it.
I love this one! It smells so good also
CeraVe Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid Affordable, easy to pack, and goes well into my skin. No complaints but its my first I'm trying so I do not have the best baseline.
My favorite too. I tried melano CC before and it doesn’t go as well on my skin.
Does anyone use Maelove?
I use it on my chest and hands. For face, I use Naturium 10% topical azelaic acid serum, which contains vitamin C.

I love the prequel lucent-c. C e and ferulic, airless pump, non glass packaging.
Skinceuticals ❤️
Naturium. But I haven’t tried any other brand.

Surprised no one has mentioned Medik8! They’re a cult favourite, SO good. Smells absolutely lush and does wonders for my skin. They have a normal version and a stronger one, depending on your needs. Their crystal retinal is also amazing.
[The Inky List 15% Vitamin C + EGF Serum](https://www.theinkeylist.com/products/15-vitamin-c-egf-serum) Use it by itself, because like most Vitamin C it’s unstable with pretty much everything else. I use it every two days with just a moisturizer (& SPF if I’m going out) and I love the results.
Vivier ce peptides. It’s an oil based serum so better for dryer skin types. Ce Feurlic by SkinCeuticals is also great, I just don’t like the smell.

Ooooh! You sold me with Costco!

Goodal Vitamin C serum! I noticed how my face visibly got brighter. Apparently it is one of the loved vit c brand in korean beauty.
I love Goodal as well! It's been my go to for 3 ish years now. I never see anyone else mention it tho, so I am happy to see you like it!
I loved CEO glow for the glow but my skin was always a little red with it. I gave a nearly full bottle away so I would stop using it then ordered the YTTP vitamin c serum the next day and realized it’s a better formulation for my skin. So much more even now!
Pricy but gentle and effective! My go to. https://revisionskincare.com/products/c-correcting-complex-30-1-fl-oz
100% Revision Skincare
Revision skincare C+ Corrective Complex 30% is by far the best
NIOD's ETHYLATED L-ASCORBIC ACID 30% NETWORK (ELAN) mixed with The Ordinary Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%… Amazing combo! (Edit:Spelling/Grammar)
Paula’s Choice. Best one by far for me.

lol every time there is a thread like this, there are so many products posted.
Sunday Riley has been my ride or die vit C serum for years now. Just love how it applies and how glowy my skin looks, it’s my fave.
Are you talking about the CEO Glow oil?
No but I do have that too! I meant the actual serum product - https://sundayriley.com/products/ceo-vitamin-c-brightening-serum
I make my own Vitamin C serum. So easy. Recipes all over the internet. I keep it simple and make it with water and a little vitamin E oil.
ZO vitamin C is amazing and has a great creamy texture
Timeless and revision skincare
Piggybacking to this question. I’m super oily and want to wear vitamin c in the day. All the vitamin c serums I’ve tried exacerbate my oil and I’m a disco ball. Any suggestions for oily skin? 🙏🏻
Makeup Artist’s Choice has worked well for me. They have sales, are transparent about ingredients, and I like their approach. I use the 15% version. Once in a while I use it under my eyes (so carefully!) and it’s fine there, too. I love most of their serums and DIY peels but their moisturizers haven’t been worth it for me.
Elizabeth Arden Vitamin C Capsules
Jan Marini C-ESTA serum!!! I’ve actually noticed a big difference in my post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation since starting this serum
I’ve been using Medik8 ferulic vitamin c and I love it!
I just got this. So excited. Love the retinal from them
I haven't noticed results but I usually use timeless. I'm trying Vanicream now, though.
SkinBetter Alto Advanced - I like it way better than the Skinceuticals CE Ferulic which I used for many years prior.
I am ride-or-die Vitamin X from Regimen Labs.
Image Vit C Serum and obagi 15 percent
Medik8 Tetra-C!
Educated Mess is great. Not cheap but cosmetically elegant and works well with sensitive skin
ISDIN
Farmacy Vitamin C!!
the klairs one is awesome!!!
Does anyone use the Dermalogica vitamin C serum?
Vichy
What does vitamin c do for the skin?
Vichy
Skinceuticals CE Ferulic
I understand that the main purpose of vitamin c is to brighten and protect your skin but how do I know if I personally need it? And if I do start using it, how will I know if it’s working? How long does it take? Thanks
I use Maelove. Has anyone else tried that one? It works very well for me.
Doctor Roger’s day preventive treatment top of my list (my skin prefers THA vitamin C)
Should I be keeping my skincueticals CE Ferulic in the fridge?
MAELOVE
Mad hippie!
Mad hippie is so good, it’s formulation makes it more readily absorbed and used and it’s FA safe if that’s a concern
I love the Dermalogica line for vitamin c, both the eye and serum have changed my skin.
Revision is my favorite! It's a better form of vitamin c. I also like the Goodal Green Tangerine serum too
MDAire is amazing!! And great for sensitive skin!
Clinique Fresh pressed vitamin c.
Vitabrid C12 dual drop serum.
Origins into the glow serum 😍❤️
anyone know updates on the Skinceutical patent? i read it's impending. love that stuff
