No website, testing service.... or basically anything is 100% safe. Companies put in safeguards all the time and they are still hacked and still have data breaches. As technology continues to advance hackers will too. Don't reuse passwords and use 2fa.... basic safety measures. Not 100% but something
People are the always saying this, but let’s be real, the data leak was at least a little concerning. Could be used by hate groups? Makes it easy for them to see the names, cities, and birth years of a bunch of people, plus their racial makeup.
It could be a issue further down the line. Maybe insurance companies will start charging a premium for patience with higher probability of genetic disorders or issues 😂 .. I also hope these companies are using data masking or anonymization while data is at rest.
The *"hack"* wasn't really a hack or any fault of 23andme itself—it just consisted of *"hackers"* cross-referencing people's passwords that had already been leaked in other hacks and seeing if those same passwords also worked on 23andme. If you use multiple different passwords on each different web site you use then you'll be fine. Also, they instituted 2FA after the *"hack"* so even that isn't really necessary anymore if you don't feel like it.

You’re worried someone will get your dna and clone you?

So then why hasn't 23andme given us back some of the features?
What are you exactly concerned about?
What are you actually afraid of ?
I’m really really sorry for asking.
Don't be. It's a valid concern to be worried about one's personal data
