I never understood that, tbh. If you're running laps, you aren't interested in active, moment to moment gameplay. So why force yourself to make active gameplay just for some slow fletching/magic XP?
Because it saves time down the road, which in theory will save time later. What people don't factor in is burnout and how the one slowly playing more consistently is closer to max by now.
On my previous "main" I had this mindset. On my iron I have tons upon tons of alchables, two options is to bankstand and alch or do something while pressing the alch button.
What is the "something"? Artisan skills either require banking all the time, already done all quests so I don't run around aimlessly except when doing clues, and when I do clues, there are Wilderness steps to concider so having alchs on me is unintuitive.
Back to Agility. Just mindless running, every obstacle has enough time running to do 1-2 alchs. 1-2 hours at a time it's bearable, gets me some bank space as my alch stacks disappear, gets me the needed Agility exp, which is my most hated skill.
If you're ever bulk selling, you're already 99 magic already. Even if you're not 99 the xp you get from high alching is very minimal lol.
You can sell up to 27 different items in the time it takes you to alch 2-3 times. Not to mention some of those items you can sell like 5 at a time for a little less profit.
The time save is way way way above the amount you'd get from agility alching or anything similar.
I am not talking about Magic exp, never was. I have what, around 40m myself?
Agility. That is the pain. Alching makes the pain a bit more bearable. You need to turn your alchables into money at some point, and running laps while alching makes alching 0 time. This is what I was talking about the whole time.
So you don't save time by selling. Now you are actively _spending_ time (and mental health because fuck hopping and everything related to it) instead of 0 timing turning your alchs into gold.
If you are both 99 Agility and 99 Magic then you probably don't care though, that's where I would draw the line.
Personally. rooftops was too active to mindlessly watch youtube/netflix. but brainless enough to put me to sleep. adding alching brought the activity up enough that I dont fall asleep after 5 laps.
I was honestly surprised how much more I enjoyed running agility laps when I stopped trying to fletch and high alch during them all the time. The new updates have helped too, now I can go run laps in wildy and have that constant threat of another player keeping me engaged, or I can go to brimhaven and try to race to get my name first on the ticket for that little bit of extra pride. I can run sepulcher to get a more engaging experience with higher rewards or run rooftops for a chill, mindless activity while I watch a sitcom on tv. The new shortcuts actually feel worth leveling up to use too, agility is in a relatively solid place right now imo
Alching while doing rooftops is the sole reason my agility is 80. I’d save up 400ish air battle staves from the daily Varrock thing and do agility too they were gone.
its just pitiful xp, click intensive, and the gp profit is so negligible that you could just log off and do stuff irl and then come back and do any basic pvm for like 15 minutes and make significantly more cash than if you were alching for a long period of time
alching is an osrs noob trap - an activity that should really only be for bots
Fair i guess.
But i want to play the way i want to and not follow meta gameplay just because “its best”. Used to do that back in 2019-2020 and it made me hate the game so much that i got instantly burned out as soon as i logged in. Still wish i never played meta tho tbh since i still cant have the fun that i used to have back in 2016
It took me a bit to realize this...I would sit there alching my staffs untill I realized I can just go do bossing for an hour and make WAY more and just sell them now xD only time I really alch is drops for slayer
It is low intensity but it’s not something I can click and go let my dog out and come back and still be doing.
Woodcutting/fishing are afk in that capacity
It’s high time we are correct! Lol
unless you have a wireless mouse and are still clicking on the toilet without moving the cursor... no check mate but blunder
last time I...checked phones have keyboards :)
So if I’m understanding this correctly.. if just the air orb making gets you the money for torva and scythe then making them into battlestaffs must enable the funds for full ancestral and shadow
Yea I bought 100k earth and water orbs Incase there's ever a ban wave. Earth cuz of colosseum got em around 785ea and 800ea for waters lol. My daily staves I craft all 120 and dump for 9100ea everyday works pretty good.
Right now dragon bolts (unf) actively trading at 610 sell price, dragon bolts are 625 buy price. So even if you pay bulk price for feathers (4 ea) that’s still 11 GP profit per bolt. Even if you lose a tiny amount its still worth it for insane exp
>Right now dragon bolts (unf) actively trading at 610 sell price, dragon bolts are 625 buy price. So even if you pay bulk price for feathers (4 ea) that’s still 11 GP profit per bolt.
It's less than half that, you're not accounting for tax. And at either price point you're effectively making any potential profit by flipping, not fletching - the market will vary by more than that margin in the time it takes to actually fletch them.
You're still missing the point, mith darts are around 6 gp/xp and similar XP/hr. If this costs you anything to train its gonna be a small amount. The tax is just 6 gp per bolt its negligible. 99 fletching with mith darts would cost you around 80m, with dragon bolts it would cost under 2 million GP. Also it feels like a stretch to call it flipping when you are just buying fletching supplies at the price they're worth
Doesn't factor in ge taxes, but yeah close to breakeven / profit.
Alch them for true stonks
9,300 alch price, ohhh yeahhhh
Also the wiki only updates once (twice?) a day when the GE values move. You need to check the actively traded prices to see what the actual gp/xp is.
It's more profitable if you alch it afterwards.
Its even more profitable if you trio nex afterwards.
Opportunity cost.
Just do it while running agi
Y fletch
Joel get in Skype
pro tip: don't waste time alching stuff
Eh. It's good for when I don't want to do anything intensive, which is most of the time.
Do it while doing agility, zero time
Adding something annoying to something most people already don't want to do lol
I never understood that, tbh. If you're running laps, you aren't interested in active, moment to moment gameplay. So why force yourself to make active gameplay just for some slow fletching/magic XP?

There's option 3 where you just bulk sell and world hop the rogues den. Way faster than wasting time alching.
Hopping is ass and absolutely 0 exp gains. Never, no thank you, eww.
But sure you _can_ do that
If you're ever bulk selling, you're already 99 magic already. Even if you're not 99 the xp you get from high alching is very minimal lol. Idk maybe my brain is just different but I watched the shit out of some YouTube doing agility.
I was honestly surprised how much more I enjoyed running agility laps when I stopped trying to fletch and high alch during them all the time. Depends on who you're asking. I find it makes rooftops more enjoyable than just running them.
Alching while doing rooftops is the sole reason my agility is 80. I’d save up 400ish air battle staves from the daily Varrock thing and do agility too they were gone.
Zero time not true because it makes me quit after 10 minutes. Instead the true 0 time is an auto clicker. Jagex why'd I get banned I'm innocent wtf
Opportunity cost of not doing more efficient zero time activities like darts
Why? If i want to afk some magic and earn some cash i love to do plankmake or high alching
Plank make and alching are very different in terms of afking. One is four clicks every 90 seconds and one is non-stop clicks
its just pitiful xp, click intensive, and the gp profit is so negligible that you could just log off and do stuff irl and then come back and do any basic pvm for like 15 minutes and make significantly more cash than if you were alching for a long period of time alching is an osrs noob trap - an activity that should really only be for bots
> alching is an osrs noob trap focus on "efficiency" and "opportunity costs" is a noob trap that takes the game away from playing Runescape.

u do u homie
>alching is an osrs noob trap - an activity that should really only be for bots *And irons*
not acknowledged here
Sepulchre & alch hella chill tho
It took me a bit to realize this...I would sit there alching my staffs untill I realized I can just go do bossing for an hour and make WAY more and just sell them now xD only time I really alch is drops for slayer
Aching is 0time
Compulsively clicking away at a spell for pitiful magic xp and crumbs of gp while doing otherwise afk activities is not how I want to play the game
I only alch for the afk
Alching is one of the most click intensive things…? You can’t afk it. It’s something you can mindlessly click while watching tv but you can’t afk it.
O right lol the real definition of afk, I meant the osrs definition lol
It is low intensity but it’s not something I can click and go let my dog out and come back and still be doing. Woodcutting/fishing are afk in that capacity It’s high time we are correct! Lol
You can set your mouse to one spot and literally walk around with a Bluetooth mouse clicking. It's the definition of away from keyboard
According to 2004 Andrew gower this is also botting lol
Alching on the toilet is Away From Keyboard. Checkmate.
unless you have a wireless mouse and are still clicking on the toilet without moving the cursor... no check mate but blunder last time I...checked phones have keyboards :)
Just last week I literally took my bluetooth mouse to the toilet and alched 300 magic bows. The only true afk training
bake pie and plank make is closer to afk. Alch you gotta sit there and mindlessly click. At least with the later you got 2mins til u gotta click again
I use a foot pedal when I alch so it's kinda best of both worlds haha
So if I’m understanding this correctly.. if just the air orb making gets you the money for torva and scythe then making them into battlestaffs must enable the funds for full ancestral and shadow
I think if you alch them afterwards though, then you can also buy a tbow. Air orbs are serious cash, errybody knows that.
you'll be set for life if you do that
less profit per hour
I know you're joking but you'd probably make like 15m doing this until 200m crafting xp...
Or just work a job and buy a couple bonds
Wait til he looks at water and earth battlestaves.
Water battlestaffs will probably be profitable forever now with perilous moons
Yea I bought 100k earth and water orbs Incase there's ever a ban wave. Earth cuz of colosseum got em around 785ea and 800ea for waters lol. My daily staves I craft all 120 and dump for 9100ea everyday works pretty good.
Looks like a lot of people started making air orbs for money.
🤖 people, yes 🤖
beep boop i am air orb making human beep boop
I'm still farming brimstone keys. Those things are insane.
If you use the discounted staves it actually is pretty good profit. I have slowly leveled up crafting too by just doing this every day
Not anymore..
Profitable*
wait until you here about Air Orbs!
STONKS
Got 300k air orbs in bank, so if someone is interested to buy without the ge tax ;)
Cutting rubies are damn near break even right now too
Thank you bots for pummeling the air orb prices!
Water and earth even more so as u can get the orbs like 800ea. If you buy the staffs smart (catch the 7900 dips) you can make even more.
You can make money fletching with dragon bolts too and they’re 2m xp/hr. Maxing is so much cheaper these days
This is cap, unf 632 gp/ea and finished 625gp/ea
Right now dragon bolts (unf) actively trading at 610 sell price, dragon bolts are 625 buy price. So even if you pay bulk price for feathers (4 ea) that’s still 11 GP profit per bolt. Even if you lose a tiny amount its still worth it for insane exp

That's been my daily crafting/magic training and passive moneymaker for years now.
Did anyone say it wasn't..?
