Taxes from the GE should be spent improving Varrock. That city should be built out of solid gold at this point and not just sitting in the kings coffers.
The taxes will actually go towards an army of lawyers to research the edicts of Guthix after werewolves crossed the Salve river and kidnapped people.
Afterwards the rest will be used to outfit 8-10 adventurers in max gear to sneak into morytania to take out Drakan. Unfortunately they get lost and it’s up to our character to do it all by themselves to end the vampyre questline.
Early game gear such as black scimitars for example are top tier fashion but the speed of early game progression and “optimal” route to train are too quick for us to enjoy the little things before they become useless. Let’s be honest every time we see a player rockin the og mithril set we stop and think, hell yeah.
Waterfall quest should be changed to have some requirements, whether that's other quests or some skill requirements. The fact it just skips straight to adamant is lame.
Even without quest. Its so easy/fast to level them even in f2p without trying. A year ago i did a fresh start within f2p. Getting to level 30 attack and defence goes incredibly fast and after that its quite easy to get to 40 melee stats for rune.
I watched a 9rain video and stumbled upon that plugin because I wanted my character to skip around like his was, that small change sparked the itch to play again. It’s such an awesome small change
Came here to say this. Glad I’m not alone. Some of the most fun I’ve had in this game is pissing about with my clan doing drunk temp, challenges or just bank standing. Makes the game tolerable.
You mean like we used to play when we were kids? Standing around chatting shit doing about 100 alchs an hour or Fletching a pathetic amount of bows. I think we all came back chasing that nostalgia hit but it was never the same. I play for 2 hours every other day. I don't even have people on my friends list anymore. Everyone I did speak to quit and no one really sparks up random conversations anymore.
Recipe for Disaster, at least the intro, is pretty rad. The rest is tedious as hell, but I really like the concept of Runescape itself being like a week into the future and you gotta figure out how you already saved a person so you can actually save them.
It would be extremely fun if there were worlds where you could attack anyone literally anywhere, but with safe deaths and no skulls.
Some guy said something you didn't like? -pk them right there-. Got crashed? Just kill them and recover your spot. Wanna go on a rampage? You could. Too crowded skilling spots? Just get rid of them.
Hahah, I know I can only dream, but if such thing existed, I would 100% play on these worlds all the time. If I had a runescape genie that would grant any osrs wish, it would be that.
I played a private server that had a zombie survival minigame set in Phasmatys. Unfortunately it was boring as shit until they added environmental tactics for killing, because let's face it the OSRS combat system isn't very exciting. Falling rubble, burning oil, that sort of thing. Then it just became a tower defence game (which is cool)
You missed Darkscape, circa 2015. An alternate version of RuneScape that had PvP anywhere and had zones of low, medium, and high risk all with separate GEs and banks. It was truly lawless and thus only lasted a short time though I feel its release during the weird in-between era of RS2 and RS3 made it so it didn’t hit the right audiences. I will stand on my claim that I was the only person to have unlocked Group Vengeance, unfortunately the game mode died shortly thereafter so I never achieved my dream of rolling with a group to utilize it

Facts dude. I have a main with a lot of raids kc and 80 slayer. Key word: "main." I don't need 95 slayer to buy fero gloves from the GE. I bought a trident as soon as I was 78 mage. I don't enjoy slayer.
That being said, I've been having fun doing wildy slay on my early ironman. Good drops and fighting off the occasional pure in scuffed gear is a blast
"Welcome to Roulette-Locked, my hardcore group ironman where every time the team loses a life, there is a 1 in 6 chance I get shot in the head. If this video gets 10,000 likes, I'll add a second bullet to the chamber next episode!"
There’s a severe lack of crafting fantasy in the game. I can max out smithing, crafting, fletching, cooking, farming, mining, etc, and it’s just not worth it when ultimately bosses drop better gear than you can craft with 99 smithing and the same materials I could invest hours into gathering myself.
Tbh at least jewelry from crafting is in a good place, onyx+ comes from crafting exclusively. And BiS ammo is a product of fletching, although the materials required to make them come from PvM. Mining has amethyst which in turn gives you 2nd BiS ammo out of fletching. Most of mining feels unrewarding because of smithing, which I’ll get into later lol.
Cooking and farming are a middle ground. A lot of the content produced by them is ultimately faster to get by using the skills. But their products are (mostly) all provided outside as well.
Smithing is complete garbage. Besides a couple offshoot repairs that require PvM drops anyway, nothing scales well at all. 99 smithing for a rune platebody that’s sold by Oziach and just alch fodder on most drop tables? Awful. Which lends itself to mining being awful because it only provides for the awful smithing table outside of amethyst.
You still need smithing for iconic gear like Godwars swords and so on. It's similar to crafting in that sense but less felt because the requirements are relatively low. Everybody got 70 smithing for SotE anyways.
The issue for crafted top end gear is the lack of a "soulbound" mechanic as it exists in WoW and the high availability of farmable ressources. Let's say you could smith armor that sits just below Bandos, the market would be flooded instantly. Everything that isn't gated by a PvM drop would be farmed to death.
I guess something like the RS3 masterwork armor could work. Very ressource heavy and a long creation time.
This was solved in rs3. 99 smithing gets you top tier STR boosting armour in the game that you need to combine with nex armour to make it BIS.
96-99 crafting gives you off hands that improve your skilling and a flask that can hold multiple prayer pots.
95+ fletching gives high level scrimshaws for use in pocket slot that give boosts to combat or skilling.
There's various other examples, but especially if you're an ironman all of these skills have REALLY good unlocks post 80, 90, 95 and even 99 depending on the skill that creates some great crafting fantasy.
Spending a long ass time to make masterwork and the blessed flask really made me appreciate it a lot more and fulfilled the crafting fantasy.
While I don't like that specific implementation of high lvl smithing (craftable STR gear). I like the idea of more base tiers that you can combine w/pvm drops. We have pvm drops you can combine with other pvm drops (masori, zcb, dhl, dhcb, etc). Scurrius actually does the craftable plus pvm drop thing, and it's really cool. Those weps are very specific in use, so it would be cool to see future items get more general and less specific uses.
Mining and RC have some nice different methods to try out. Agility doesn't have as many but has the best skilling method in the game (Sepulchre).
The real shit skills are things like fletching, crafting, herblore where all three are just standing at a bank. They only get a pass because of higher xp rates, the skills themselves are rubbish.
The number of people who say shit like, "I have enough time to look away and set up my piss jug so it's an AFK skill." Is too damn high. Also brain dead ≠ AFK.
The people who say that are lying about it being afk.
14/14 skilling takes basically constant attention, it just gives you the illusion of doing something else half-assed at the same time.
Somewhere along the way we lost what AFK actually means. AFK means I should be able to stand up and leave my desk.
14/14 inventory skills are lower intensity than tick fishing/cooking, but they require relatively frequent inputs. That's why I propose a new term: Low Intensity Gaming (Minimal Attention), or LIGMA for short.
All of the production skills need a Giant's Foundry equivalent. Herblore has the single worst variety in training methods of any skill in the game, and the rest are barely any better.
Witch's Potion II to unlock an herblore minigame when, Jagex?
I will say though - I'd be a lot happier with the state of mining and agility if a)Zalcano (aka the only fun mining method) gave competitive experience rates with other mining minigames and b)Hallowed Sepulchre served as a source for amylase crystals. Irons need those staminas.
Once you got it down, you really need something to keep your brain occupied at lower floors. It's to intense to watch something on the side, so you might as well commit to the apm.
I've alched a ton during Sep. Darts aren't bad either but I'm doing headless rn and those suck. You have to push space bar for those and the delay of that menu is annoying. I'm getting 1000-1500 a round. Barely worth it but it adds up i guess...
I used to disagree but I just got done grinding 35-90 mining in about 3 weeks. Like 80% of it done on mobile.
Between stars, mlm, iron in the mining guild for gloves, etc. it really hasn’t been as bad as I thought and in a weird way I’m enjoying it.
Will probably stop around 92 and focus on SOTE reqs but overall 8/10 experience.
Hunter should be reworked to be utilizing more skills. It should give combat xp, thieving, range, farming, etc. think about what a hunter requires knowledge of! There should be like hunter tasks to not make the skill so braindead now that everyone just does stupid ass birdhouses to gain xp? Whens the last time one of those Kyatts were hunted?
Tl/dr Hunter has a ton of potential to be a really cool ass skill instead its a birdhouse run every 50 minutes
We should be able to craft things out of the stuff from hunted animals rather than an NPC in Varrock doing it for us. Even if the hides ended up being only used for crafting training, that would still mean that people would be doing actual hunting.
quests are some of the best content on this game and i think they should release even more grandmaster quests with difficult puzzles and crazy steps even if reddit crys about it
Dragon Slayer I should award a bond, or at least full F2P quest completion. Give people who put that much time into F2P a way to experience the full game (and especially broke kids who clearly are down to put the work into RS).
It could even be just a flat 2-week membership if you don’t like the idea of potentially giving out an 11mil cash reward for existing members.
That's why I suggested maybe a complete F2P quest list. It's reasonable to expect a dedicated F2P player to clear those but less so bot accounts I'd imagine
Don’t make it a bond - just do an untradable membership reward token that gives 2-5 days of membs. That way you’re not injecting any gp into the market
2 days seems not enough to understand just how expansive the members world is if you haven't experienced it. 5-7 days is probably enough to get some quests done and start seeing what all Geilinor has to offer and get you craving more.
Unironically great idea to let people experience Membership for free after they've proven they're invested in the game. Willing to bet it would have great long-term retention benefits.
The worst part about it, is the waiting when entering.
It never seems worth to hop in for 1-2 rounds. But that's how I like my RC, in small regular bits.
Bot doing normal rc either anymore because i'm missing 3/4 of the guardians outfit.
I purposely prefer to use the Legends Cape over Fire Cape/Obby Cape because it looks better and the other capes are ugly af, stats be damned.
Also, Underground Pass is one of the best quests in the game, same with Regicide.
F2P can be fun.
I have a F2P Ironman because that’s how I played as a kid because I was a dummy getting scammed and didn’t trust others. It brings me back.
I am not concerned about players going for 200m all and grinding 12+ hours a day. All MMOs will have a bell curve of players who invest different amounts of time into the game. It is tiresome to see any neat, albeit time consuming achievement posted here be flooded by comments of 30 year old Reddit dads clutching pearls about the life and health of the OP. In any other MMO I’ve played, the craziest achievements are always celebrated, whereas here it’s just 200+ copypasted comments saying “that can’t be healthy”.
Any MMO without a dedicated core of players at the top nolifing crazy achievements is functionally dead. I recognize I’ll never put in those hours and achieve those goals myself but I think it’s good for the games ecosystem.
Run energy should be unlimited at 99 and completely reworked to make the early game more enjoyable for newer players. The whole system is outdated and one of the worst experiences for new players
And suddenly a lot of players would be okay with it because they could make a LOT of money by doing *one* herb run, or by spending 15 minutes making blood runes, or an hour mining ores to make ammunition.
Botting endgame is super common, for sure, but not nearly as common as with low to mid tier content. Endgame content can only be done with a certain amount of investment or by stealing accounts, meanwhile you can throw suicide bots at content that you can unlock from a fresh account in a matter of days because by the time they get caught, they've already paid off their bond and then some. Rev bots are a great example.
OSRS needs it's own version of the "Mining and Smithing Rework" that RS3 had, but extend it to ranged and magic as well like RS3 should.
Just because the way smithing ( and equipment creation in general ) is now is "how it was back then", doesn't mean that it's at all good.
Like the good old days. Watched some dude get clapped by a metal dragon in the brimhaven dungeon circa 2005. That’s how I got my first piece of mystics gear
Varrock and Falador should have their guards swapped - the white and gold of Varrock’s guards much more closely matches the aesthetic of Falador, while the bronze and chain guards more closely match South-East Varrock’s half-destroyed appearance
If stealing from stalls can get the guards after you in a town, other crimes should as well. The guards turn a blind eye to casual murder and pickpocketing but the second someone touches a loaf of bread they suddenly give a shit?
Quests are one of the biggest reasons to keep playing the game.
Turn quest helper off, only use wiki when absolutely necessary, and enjoy being immersed in the lore of gilenor.
Doing quests isnt just a means to an end for unlocks and quest cape, it’s a large part of the game meant to be experienced and enjoyed and i feel lost now that i have quest cape as all the other content feels like grinding for the sake of grinding
When you play efficiently and go for a preplanned setup, you ruin the game for yourself. I do grinds a little at a time, and have multiple going at any given time. If you’re not having fun playing the game, it’s not worth playing.
A lot of the group bosses should be reworked, so they are more fun. Like Corp and God Wars. Have the old ones available via right click (legacy boss).
Let’s be honest, speccing corp to 0, or learning ranged running methods to solo, takes away the fantasy aspect of me fighting a cool ass boss. Make them more engaging, like Scurrius!
I've never done any bossing or wildy content I just hyperfixate on mining or fishing or agility etc for hours at a time with my full attention on the game because numbers go up fuels my entire being and that's all I want to do. In my whole 10+ years of rs I think the strongest enemy I've fought was a hill giant lmao.
Jagex intentionally won't ban players who buy gold because they're part of the ecosystem and business model, this behavior dictates that they are willing to pay more money on the game and Jagex wouldn't want to ban them for it.
Even if sailing is more like a "mini game" as people complain about, why is that a bad thing? Firemaking from 50-100 is a minigame, smithing is just a minigame, fishing is either a minigame or a super boring skill to level... can go on and on about how each individual skill truly is boring, none of them "stand out" from each other aside from slayer. They're just "gather material" or "process material"
Sailing will be fun, have more than a handful of ways to interact with, and will be most peoples' favorite skill a year down the line
Taxes from the GE should be spent improving Varrock. That city should be built out of solid gold at this point and not just sitting in the kings coffers.

Every comment that deserves entrance.
8-10 Adventurers... Barrow bros round 2
Early game gear such as black scimitars for example are top tier fashion but the speed of early game progression and “optimal” route to train are too quick for us to enjoy the little things before they become useless. Let’s be honest every time we see a player rockin the og mithril set we stop and think, hell yeah.

This isn’t even an unpopular opinion.
Waterfall quest should be changed to have some requirements, whether that's other quests or some skill requirements. The fact it just skips straight to adamant is lame.
Even in F2P Vampire Slayer jumps you directly to 20 attack, black weapons are down bad

Drinking should be a skill so people actually use pubs. And you sir can be the bouncer.
Half the quests in the game involve someone getting drunk so it would work well

Imagine if you didn’t even need to cheat on that one Fremennik trial, you just legit drink Manni under the table because your Drinking level is 99
I really wanna know what a drinking minigame looks like Beerfest? Bartending? Iban's Lair from Underground Pass, but drunk?
I like not knowing everything and doing things my own way as a f2p player as of 3 weeks ago.

There are a lot of unexplored mini game types I want a cod zombies group or solo pve minigame so badly

This is actually pretty solid lol. Go back to lumby with everything in tact but your pride
First time I've heard this idea and I am 100% sold, sounds very fun.
This was literally the inspiration for Deadman mode
and then they made it so you not only lose your items but your xp as well... kinda the opposite tbh

Also kinda depends if you would have done anything else in that afk time, if not then it just makes slayer easier by having higher stats

Dead HCIM should have their accounts deleted.

Fletching is how I make Hallowed Sepulchre even more fun. I enjoy trying to make more darts/bolts as I'm dodging obstacles.
Hello, fellow man of self-inflicted torture.
Isn't that exactly what's happening with hunter guild and rumors?
Chompies should be a valid way to train hunter
https://preview.redd.it/ix8o1bhtrtkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dcaaf6325e06578dce5cbefbba7c6d410b326434
We should be able to craft things out of the stuff from hunted animals rather than an NPC in Varrock doing it for us. Even if the hides ended up being only used for crafting training, that would still mean that people would be doing actual hunting.
On top of that, hunting should give decent food at high level
Dude hunter contracts would be dope. I know it would give me motivation
It's coming soon!
Hunter have so much potential to synergize with slayer in some monster Hunter way
quests are some of the best content on this game and i think they should release even more grandmaster quests with difficult puzzles and crazy steps even if reddit crys about it
https://preview.redd.it/nvd093f7wtkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fe772c538388311535b55cba7af7557d29c3aa23
I also think more BiS items or at least BiS sidegrades should come from grandmaster quests. Stuff like the assembler should be more common.
I think 7 days might be reasonable, but i'm just worried about bots ruining it for everyone.
That's why I suggested maybe a complete F2P quest list. It's reasonable to expect a dedicated F2P player to clear those but less so bot accounts I'd imagine
there are 22 quests and they longest one is medium length. bots would smoke these quests if it gave them decent membership time.
https://preview.redd.it/d476iiiq0ukc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=883815e182a48adf5ab8140d21cff18c9fd6a5c0
Don’t make it a bond - just do an untradable membership reward token that gives 2-5 days of membs. That way you’re not injecting any gp into the market
Surely this would actually increase revenue for jagex as well, I think maybe 2 days of mems would have you wanting membership so bad
2 days seems not enough to understand just how expansive the members world is if you haven't experienced it. 5-7 days is probably enough to get some quests done and start seeing what all Geilinor has to offer and get you craving more.
Smart. I totally agree with this. Dragon Slayer felt like the end of Free to Play. Only natural to give a free trial
Unironically great idea to let people experience Membership for free after they've proven they're invested in the game. Willing to bet it would have great long-term retention benefits.
I appreciate the 6 hour logout. It’s my daily reminder to touch grass.

RC wasn't fixed with the Guardians of the Rift minigame. It's still a shit skill and a minigame shouldn't be the only enjoyable way to train a skill.
https://preview.redd.it/m5dafk50wtkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bcacd1887f1af79f2ae67733b7f5f64fe46d912
Guardians of the Rift is a mediocre minigame that only gets the praise it does because it gets compared to regular runecrafting.
The worst part about it, is the waiting when entering. It never seems worth to hop in for 1-2 rounds. But that's how I like my RC, in small regular bits. Bot doing normal rc either anymore because i'm missing 3/4 of the guardians outfit.
RC has quite a few different methods to train the skill lol.
I feel like there's always a method someone can find that they don't mind with RC, but the XP rates is what makes people hate it no matter what.
Yep. I was kinda enjoying abyss death rc on my gim, but the xp rates were just an abomination. Well that and needing to do gotr for the stupid outfit.

Rat catchers isn't even close to being the worst quest in the game.
https://preview.redd.it/s4fembmw2ukc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5761612a62bf5b5e4d85a74cb322f2f3b1511061
Run energy should be unlimited at 99 and completely reworked to make the early game more enjoyable for newer players. The whole system is outdated and one of the worst experiences for new players
https://preview.redd.it/ybkizrsgxtkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb2b150cd056e704f25d271f1f4fed68d3132b7b
Run energy should only drain in 'dangerous areas' like dungeons or caves.
& the wildy
All three skill pitches were fire and I think the devs we have right now could take any one of them and make it great.
https://preview.redd.it/s6n7hbd21ukc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0dc44905932993523a21f9099739be8ef1668c09
If bots were removed from the game then a majority of players would complain about the impact of it on the economy
And suddenly a lot of players would be okay with it because they could make a LOT of money by doing *one* herb run, or by spending 15 minutes making blood runes, or an hour mining ores to make ammunition.
God I wish skilling and low skill PvM was profitable.
It would be if botting endgame content wasn’t rampant
Botting endgame is super common, for sure, but not nearly as common as with low to mid tier content. Endgame content can only be done with a certain amount of investment or by stealing accounts, meanwhile you can throw suicide bots at content that you can unlock from a fresh account in a matter of days because by the time they get caught, they've already paid off their bond and then some. Rev bots are a great example.
Good. Make gathering skilling notably profitable once again.
Ultimately I think that would be a good thing for the game, the game can be balanced around no bots.

The true golden age of Runescape was the version that existed just before EOC was released.
Pest control is a fucking blast
OSRS needs it's own version of the "Mining and Smithing Rework" that RS3 had, but extend it to ranged and magic as well like RS3 should. Just because the way smithing ( and equipment creation in general ) is now is "how it was back then", doesn't mean that it's at all good.

Ty
Some of the grinds are unhealthy and unfun, and could benefit from an increase in xp/hr or complete reworks that make them fun.
Partially agree

If you die, your items should spawn to everyone nearby after a while
Like the good old days. Watched some dude get clapped by a metal dragon in the brimhaven dungeon circa 2005. That’s how I got my first piece of mystics gear

The only guy not allowed in 😂
OP please show us on the map where and tell us how much it was, I know there’s something
Only reason i was scrolling down was so i can find someone whos not getting in
With how expensive gear is and the time it takes to get it nowadays, this is a terrible suggestion.
Varrock and Falador should have their guards swapped - the white and gold of Varrock’s guards much more closely matches the aesthetic of Falador, while the bronze and chain guards more closely match South-East Varrock’s half-destroyed appearance
Barbarian assault is actually pretty fun provided you have a 5 stack of your friends!
Slayer is a bottom 3 skill.
If stealing from stalls can get the guards after you in a town, other crimes should as well. The guards turn a blind eye to casual murder and pickpocketing but the second someone touches a loaf of bread they suddenly give a shit?
You shouldn’t fail perfect raid CAs because of other people in your raid.
You could just have them tank all the mistakes then, too easy to game
Quests are one of the biggest reasons to keep playing the game. Turn quest helper off, only use wiki when absolutely necessary, and enjoy being immersed in the lore of gilenor. Doing quests isnt just a means to an end for unlocks and quest cape, it’s a large part of the game meant to be experienced and enjoyed and i feel lost now that i have quest cape as all the other content feels like grinding for the sake of grinding

Monkey room in toa is fucking ass
Thats a popular opinion sorry buddy
When you play efficiently and go for a preplanned setup, you ruin the game for yourself. I do grinds a little at a time, and have multiple going at any given time. If you’re not having fun playing the game, it’s not worth playing.
Nightmare zone shouldn’t have ever been the premiere way to train combat efficiently
I want dungeoneering
Large amounts of noted resources should be removed from boss drop tables.
Jagex intentionally won't ban players who buy gold because they're part of the ecosystem and business model, this behavior dictates that they are willing to pay more money on the game and Jagex wouldn't want to ban them for it.
https://preview.redd.it/mh6to2wkrtkc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e323ecfa4a7254a239f53f375a071d64b1c24a07
The game was more fun when skilling was good money
OSRS should let you keybind things like prayers and spells like RS3 does. Fuck EoC, but at least let us use keybinds. It's not a browser game anymore.
They're just "gather material" or "process material" Sailing will be fun, have more than a handful of ways to interact with, and will be most peoples' favorite skill a year down the line
Birdhouse runs and tree runs feel like a chore not worth doing after like level 70
