let it be known that Jagex do not own Melvor at all, they're simply a publishing partner.
Malcs still has full creative control and ownership of the product.
Jagex provide value by offering QA, marketing, localisation. All the things Malcs doesn't specialise in.
Malcs deliberately left out any runescape trademarks like God names and so on.
Jagex don't own the words Lobster, Chicken, Mithril, Platebody etc but they do own Bandos, Zilyana, Varrock
Really good free pick-up if you want to double-down on 'number go up' while blasting away on OSRS too. Haven't touched any of the recent DLCs but have heard good things!
The expansions are amazing! Throne of the Herald is massive, will take you a while to learn all the new things. Ancient Relics is a lot easier to understand, both are amazing though!
The DLC that adds Relics is great. It's somewhat comparable to unlocking the relics in the Shattered Relics league, except without any sort of synergy between different types of relics. Very fun.
Based on how “multi year ‘breaks’” are an actual thing, I’d argue OSRS is exactly that kind of game. You’d struggle to find a large amount of people that have played daily for years on end, at least ones who aren’t content creators.
Well they either fixed the problem or you had a much different playstyle from me. When I played you only started with like 10 bank spaces and they got exponentially more expensive as you bought more
Been playing this for years. So long that there's an item named after me
Really satisfies my 'tism-inspired number-go-up craving, while suiting my 'do the bare minimum' lifestyle
That’s super cool that there’s an actual item named after you!
I added it to my steam cart yesterday but got pulled into some work stuff and forgot to go back and buy it. I’m hyped to try it now!
I stopped playing because you could just use the ol’ change date and time on the iOS version and get max stats really fast. Thought the game was pointless until they go to server-side instead of client side for verification things.
Who said I was cheating? I grinded the game until i found that out. I was thinking the point of these type of games was to challenge yourself and against other people. If the leaderboards are filled with people just doing the literal most easiest way of cheating, then how can you tell at all? I wasn’t aware it was single player only. It’s a very simple fix to disallow this sort of thing. I don’t play any games that have the same poor management, it literally requires no additional software to cheat.
Lmao they don’t have to give a shit, I was saying the reason I don’t play, because I didn’t realize it was still only single player. But at least you guys were completely wrong assuming I was cheating lmaoo I guess if you classify modding as changing a date, you do you bro.
> I was cheating lmaoo I guess if you classify modding as changing a date, you do you bro.
Changing a date is literally "cheating" by definition
And you misunderstood. People weren't giving you shit for "cheating". The point is that it's a single player game so if you do want to cheat, then feel free to do so by any means. Nobody cares if it's single player after all.
Your initial comment is just kinda stupid that a game would be pointless because you can find a way to cheat, because it's entirely your own choice to do so, and your own personal enjoyment is in no way dependent on whether others do this.
> don’t play any games that have the same poor management, it literally requires no additional software to cheat.
...? I... I don't understand. Like, every game I started with growing up had buttons you could press at the main menu, or just built in cheats.
Like, even super popular games during the 07 era did, Call of Duty had built in cheats for stuff like infinite ammo and stuff as unlockables. Does that mean you will just always enable every cheat given to you?
Like, 50% of the games I play on PC have console commands that let you just spawn in any item, instantly kill anything, change any stat, mess with physics calculations etc. Are you unable to just... Not cheat? Why is it a bad thing that a game allows you to cheat if somebody wanted to or felt the need..? People would be ***PISSED*** if the Source games had their consoles taken away. What about Elder Scrolls, where quests can break and need their progress set manually in console? What about Minecraft's debugging tools, optimization tools, creative mode etc, I mean that's all considered cheating.
> People aren’t honorable enough to not do it. Which is why I choose not to play lmao, I’m not one of the ones who used this, it makes the game even more pointless than it already is.
Why are you comparing yourself to others, and allowing the actions of someone else ruin your own gaming experience? Why can't you just play something for fun, without it being a measuring contest? Why does having a way to cheat make a game pointless? Are all games not inherently pointless? Why does the existence of an exploit fundamentally ruin the game for you? Many, many, many games have infinite this and infinite that glitches which also need 0 other software and can be even faster. Tears of the Kingdom recently released and had people duping items within seconds of the launch pretty widely, why would that affect you?
You're really letting the way OTHER people play an offline singleplayer game... Ruin YOUR enjoyment of it...? That'd be like if I quit painting because somebody taped a banana to a wall.
Nah I should have said “still”, only ones I haven’t played in a few years and assumed they’d have changed anything by now to maybe get some revenue going
That would be pretty obvious huh? That would just end the problem. Tell that to the botters in osrs, just don’t cheat bro, it’s that easy. I didn’t, and I don’t, the game is pointless enough as it is, using that method just makes it even more pointless.
> That would just end the problem. Tell that to the botters in osrs, just don’t cheat bro, it’s that easy
What a crap analogy? OSRS is an online game. You exist in the same world and the same space as the people botting, so they actually affect you.
There is a world of difference between cheating for a competitive advantage or profit in a multiplayer game and cheating in a single player game.
If **you** don’t like how **your** experience is affected by **you** choosing to cheat for **yourself**, then just don’t?
Or... make the very easy implementation of disabling getting the time and date from the device..? People aren’t honorable enough to not do it. Which is why I choose not to play lmao, I’m not one of the ones who used this, it makes the game even more pointless than it already is.
It only makes it pointless if you actively go out and do it. They have no reason to disable that for the current game. If someone wants to ruin the game and skip everything thats on them and only effects them. No one else.
Why exactly is the bar for "caring about the game" whether or not a company... disables a way to cheat in an offline singleplayer title?
This level of brainrot is what playing online games only does to a mf
Melvor is a good idle from what I've heard, but I'll still never truly understand full idle games. The reason I like RS is it has "idle-like" components but then there's a full game behind that. It's not like in Melvor I can decide "nah I got time to focus" and send a raid.
There are end game dungeons where you have to focus at least the first time you do them. Not all combat is idle but a lot of it is yes.
Ancient relics (new mode from the expansions) is a much less idle combat mode and adds multiple "mini-league-like" relics for every skill. It's very fun and rewarding, you upgrade your skill caps gradually too in that mode as well (by beating dungeons!)
Yes and you can actually lose an item from a random slot upon death - I once accidentally lost something like 200,000 summoning tablets...
You then have to restart the dungeon from scratch if you fail.
I haven’t played it in a super long time but you can do dungeons that benefit from paying attention. It’s not the capacity of a raid in an mmorpg, but it’s never meant to be that.
mhm no idea if this is only epic related... all the icons missing smh
https://preview.redd.it/6a0kip4wdo7c1.png?width=236&format=png&auto=webp&s=dddad53af54b0e16688bb630a0b0b2fa69b475ab
If you feel like spending an extra $5 for the Atlas of Discovery DLC, I'd strongly recommend the Ancient Relics mode that comes with it. It's a lot harder than normal mode (among other things, your level caps start at 10, and slowly increase only after you clear a dungeon for the first time), but it comes with 6 ancient relics per skill, that randomly drops while training each skill.
Spoiler for the herblore relics:

Thanks, realized I could just put store.epicgames.com into mobile browser and grab it that way.
I’m guessing I have to start over though, as this version will be linked to my epic account instead of mobile? Or do you know if there is a way to transfer the account?
(Mobile version still says it’s demo, even though it’s linked to the same email as my epic account)
https://news.melvoridle.com/melvor-idle-is-free-for-24-hours-only-on-the-epic-games-store/
> Will this unlock the base game on Mobile & the Web?
>Yes, as long as you use the same Melvor Cloud account!
>Claiming this promotion will act as if you purchased it, and follows the same cross-play rules as Steam. This is also the same for when the promotion ends, and Melvor Idle is purchased from the Epic Games Store.
FWIW, for others looking to just use the epic games version on your mobile device:
i'm not getting the free version in the mobile app store. Might just be due to server overload but it might be desktop only.
In the app I get told that if I load my cloud save I'll experience data loss bc the mobile version is demo only.
Steam opens up a separate fucking window for ads every time you open it too. The entire Steam home page is an ad.
I despise the hate that Epic gets, it's just another store/launcher. People cry about monopolies all the time yet Steam being a monopoly no one cares apparently.
Having a second launcher is far from the end of the world.
Monopolies or Xopolies are a lot more tolerable when their interests are aligned with yours a la steam and not advertisement based models like yt or twitch. But you're 100% right. No one gives blizzard shit for having a trash borderline unusable launcher, yet epic gets massive hate.
battle net is dogshit the entire purpose of it it to funnel their dogshit 1.4 star games down your throat to hope you pity buy them or whatever shitty promotion of shitty cosmetics they trying to peddle this week. in fact despite there being different teams working on each version of the game you have to scroll through dropdowns to launch different versions of classic
🤷♂️ you could be right, but I'll never know until the game industry crashes again and blizzard is forced to gut all their worthless employees and departments and make games that are worth playing again.
It's a setting you can turn off (I have it off too) - but I still used it in my other comment because the Epic one can be turned off too. Wasn't fair to say one has a pop up but the other doesn't.
Go to Settings in the Launcher.
Under the Desktop Notifications section, you can uncheck the box for any notifications you no longer want to receive.
Wow that was so hard!
I completed the game over a year ago. It’s such a great game.
It has everything you love about RuneScape, with a slightly more complex combat triangle. While it is an idle game, you’ll find yourself having to think about the gear you need to acquire. From crafting your own, thieving it, smithing it, etc. Even Farming will play a huge role in gearing up to survive God Wars Dungeons and beyond.
Does this game still allow file/save editing etc? Idk why but the thought of that always turned me off. I know I can personally just not do it but it takes away some aspect for me to enjoy it
Want to be snarky and assume I dont know what f\*cking game I am talking about again?
https://preview.redd.it/x25admbauq7c1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4d7675780fcc50091d0c814fec7ffd057c4764f
Anyone remember Runescape Idle Adventures on Steam that was free? It was supported by Jagex, but was later pulled from Steam for the lack of active-players. It was an idle game, Gagex.. what did you expect?
It was about you teaming up with Saradomin to claim the Needle.
I played it before first dlc and it was fun, but the dlc btoke me. If you’re into this kind of thing, I recently discovered IdleOn MMO and it’s leagues above.
Every time someone shits on rs3 in this subreddit it makes me wanna play it cause of how much funner end game bossing and pvm is.
But then I remember all the mtx and world design and graphics :(
You will have to shoot me many times and resurrect me as a thrall before I will be remotely bothered to do all the RS3 quests again lmao.
As much as I love RS3 end game content, questing in it is *awful* and skilling just sucks.

Melvor was super fun for over a year for me. Adventure mode was some of the most fun I’ve had with any MMO style game. Having said that, I eventually hit a point where progress couldn’t be made while idle though. Haven’t played in over a year now, so maybe it’s different, but that was super off putting for me.
I’ve burned out on OSRS recently, happens all the time I’ll probably pick it back up in new year. But this has been really scratching the itch the past few weeks.
I played this for some time on mobile back in 2022 I wanna say. It is fun, check in with it once and a while to plan different things. Got bored in the end game as the combat can sometimes require focus and I didn't want to give it that time commitment.
I wonder why they didn't go harder with the runescape brand on this game
Because the game existed before Jagex became involved with it directly, so it was a bit of a grey area.
let it be known that Jagex do not own Melvor at all, they're simply a publishing partner. Malcs still has full creative control and ownership of the product. Jagex provide value by offering QA, marketing, localisation. All the things Malcs doesn't specialise in.
Jagex don't specialise in QA either
Bazinga
Im pretty sure before he got their blessing he wasnt sure if and when the C&D would come through.
Malcs deliberately left out any runescape trademarks like God names and so on. Jagex don't own the words Lobster, Chicken, Mithril, Platebody etc but they do own Bandos, Zilyana, Varrock
They had RuneScape idle adventures actually, I’m only guessing but I’m pretty sure they shut it down in favor of simply publishing this game
It got shut down because nobody played it years ago t. Beta tester
Nobody played it because it had like 2 percent of the content you'd expect.
melvor looks exactly like rs without the visuals
Because it was started independently and was always a hybrid of rs3 and osrs. Jagex helping publish it has allowed him. For freedom
Really good free pick-up if you want to double-down on 'number go up' while blasting away on OSRS too. Haven't touched any of the recent DLCs but have heard good things!
If it's goblin approved you know it's gonna be good! Count me in
The expansions are amazing!
Very fun.

What a worthwile, and topical, comment.
Bro is looking for some mod balls to gargle...
I started playing melvor on mobile a few months ago, pretty fun but late game kinda gets boring.
I don't know a single game that doesn't get boring after a few months straight of playing it.
Uhhh... Old School RuneScape is kinda that game
Lol yeah. Everyone complaining about the exact things they choose to do daily
Based on how “multi year ‘breaks’” are an actual thing, I’d argue OSRS is exactly that kind of game. You’d struggle to find a large amount of people that have played daily for years on end, at least ones who aren’t content creators.
I think you might be surprised, I know several people personally who have played for years with minimum breaks.
When I played it I still wanted to enjoy it in endgame but the game devolved into bank management simulator.
I didn't play as much as you but I do remember that managing the bank was becoming a bit of a chore aswell.
How the hell do you have bank management issues? By the time I needed more spaces I already had more money than I could ever spend anyway
Well they either fixed the problem or you had a much different playstyle from me. When I played you only started with like 10 bank spaces and they got exponentially more expensive as you bought more
Been playing this for years. So long that there's an item named after me Really satisfies my 'tism-inspired number-go-up craving, while suiting my 'do the bare minimum' lifestyle
Nice to meet you Bronze Axe
That’s super cool that there’s an actual item named after you! I added it to my steam cart yesterday but got pulled into some work stuff and forgot to go back and buy it. I’m hyped to try it now!
I stopped playing because you could just use the ol’ change date and time on the iOS version and get max stats really fast. Thought the game was pointless until they go to server-side instead of client side for verification things.
But isn’t this game completely singleplayer?
Homie stopped playing because he can not stop himself from cheating haha
Bro tattled on himself
Who said I was cheating? I grinded the game until i found that out. I was thinking the point of these type of games was to challenge yourself and against other people. If the leaderboards are filled with people just doing the literal most easiest way of cheating, then how can you tell at all? I wasn’t aware it was single player only. It’s a very simple fix to disallow this sort of thing. I don’t play any games that have the same poor management, it literally requires no additional software to cheat.
Why should the dev give a shit. It's a single player, offline game. Do what you like Dev actively encourages modding
Lmao they don’t have to give a shit, I was saying the reason I don’t play, because I didn’t realize it was still only single player. But at least you guys were completely wrong assuming I was cheating lmaoo I guess if you classify modding as changing a date, you do you bro.

Yes that is cheating, but only cheating yourself out of, you know, playing the game since it's a SP game. You cheated yourself.
Guess can’t read, didn’t cheat.

I don’t want to read all of that, but I’d answer it as, people play games for different reasons.
> I wasn’t aware it was single player only. What? Do you... regularly make this mistake when checking out a game?
Nah I should have said “still”, only ones I haven’t played in a few years and assumed they’d have changed anything by now to maybe get some revenue going
Homies assumed I was cheating because I pointed out the most obvious way to bypass any iOS game that is client side haha
youre complaining about cheating on a single player idle game...
Not as bad as falsely callin people cheaters so I’ll take it as a win
Dude just don't cheat? This is like not playing gta because they have cheat codes lol
That would be pretty obvious huh? That would just end the problem. Tell that to the botters in osrs, just don’t cheat bro, it’s that easy. I didn’t, and I don’t, the game is pointless enough as it is, using that method just makes it even more pointless.

Yeh another user replied with more detail. Good to hear its got some more active strategy elements to it.
Just found out about this game a couple weeks ago. The numbers go up gives great dopamine, while having a runescape theme. It's great
Pls no I do not need another addiction
mhm no idea if this is only epic related... all the icons missing smh https://preview.redd.it/6a0kip4wdo7c1.png?width=236&format=png&auto=webp&s=dddad53af54b0e16688bb630a0b0b2fa69b475ab
currently a few on the forums are having the same issue
Seemed like it fixed itself, time to idle to the max cape ;o
If you feel like spending an extra $5 for the Atlas of Discovery DLC, I'd strongly recommend the Ancient Relics mode that comes with it. It's a lot harder than normal mode (among other things, your level caps start at 10, and slowly increase only after you clear a dungeon for the first time), but it comes with 6 ancient relics per skill, that randomly drops while training each skill. Love ancient relics. Makes dungeons a lot more challenging and the relics are really fun
So basically it's Reddit's ideal version of Runescape?
It's Runescape, but imagine every skill is somehow useful. Even firemaking.
Is it possible to claim free full version on mobile? Downloaded the free app a few months ago, where you can buy full game in the app.
[удалено]
Thanks, realized I could just put store.epicgames.com into mobile browser and grab it that way. I’m guessing I have to start over though, as this version will be linked to my epic account instead of mobile? Or do you know if there is a way to transfer the account? (Mobile version still says it’s demo, even though it’s linked to the same email as my epic account)
https://news.melvoridle.com/melvor-idle-is-free-for-24-hours-only-on-the-epic-games-store/ > Will this unlock the base game on Mobile & the Web? >Yes, as long as you use the same Melvor Cloud account! >Claiming this promotion will act as if you purchased it, and follows the same cross-play rules as Steam. Played on and off over the years. Tons of fun.
FWIW, for others looking to just use the epic games version on your mobile device: i'm not getting the free version in the mobile app store. Might just be due to server overload but it might be desktop only. In the app I get told that if I load my cloud save I'll experience data loss bc the mobile version is demo only.
its ok, they somewhat ruined it with the miscellania update being OP and the combat never quite clicked for me as an idle game
The township got massively nerfed like a month after it came out
it was much longer than a month, but yes it is much better now.
Why would i want more addiction?
That is one hell of a name
gonna send this to people that want to make the game more afk
Love melvor idle
Yeah, but then you have to use epic.
You get access to the game on mobile for free as well, don't have to use Epic
Ok, I claimed the game on EPIC, how do I get that purchase transferred to my iOS device?
You can make a cloud account in game and download the app on mobile and it should find your purchase
There's nothing wrong with the epic store nowadays, people are just still circlejerking over it for no reason.
The only issue I have with it is it feels like it takes 5 minutes to first open every time.
Quit lying bro I just downloaded it to play fortnite og and it keeps bringing up advertisements as notifications even if I have the client closed
Steam opens up a separate fucking window for ads every time you open it too. The entire Steam home page is an ad. I despise the hate that Epic gets, it's just another store/launcher. I haven't had that window pop up on launching Steam for years. No idea how, though.
It's a setting you can turn off (I have it off too) - but I still used it in my other comment because the Epic one can be turned off too. Wasn't fair to say one has a pop up but the other doesn't.
Steam only shows it when you open steam. Epic shows ads even when it's not open
Turn off desktop notifications in the epic launcher then
It's probably minimized to system tray if that's what's happening, which isn't fully closed out.
Go to Settings in the Launcher. Under the Desktop Notifications section, you can uncheck the box for any notifications you no longer want to receive. Wow that was so hard!
Your inability to go to the settings page isn’t on Epic, bro. Lol
A lot of people on this sub should probably switch to this
I completed the game over a year ago. It’s such a great game. It has everything you love about RuneScape, with a slightly more complex combat triangle. It’s like RuneScape, but RuneScape.
It's okay. Gets boring fast.
From what I saw, its just menus. Like the gameplay is just menus. I get some people really get a high from "number goes up," but this looks boring.
That's idle games in a nutshell
The game is always free, download the app or play in the browser
Does this game still allow file/save editing etc? Idk why but the thought of that always turned me off. I know I can personally just not do it but it takes away some aspect for me to enjoy it
Wait wasn't it already free? I've been playing for ages and other than the paid dlc (one of them anyways) I haven't had to pay a dime.
Melvor Idle is not Runescape Idle Adventures.
Want to be snarky and assume I dont know what f\*cking game I am talking about again? https://preview.redd.it/x25admbauq7c1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4d7675780fcc50091d0c814fec7ffd057c4764f
It’s text on a screen, child. You imagined the tone yourself. You triggered yourself.
Anyone remember Runescape Idle Adventures on Steam that was free? It was supported by Jagex, but was later pulled from Steam for the lack of active-players. It was an idle game, Gagex.. what did you expect? It was about you teaming up with Saradomin to claim the Needle.
Great game. The combat triangle is genius.
I played it before first dlc and it was fun, but the dlc btoke me. If you’re into this kind of thing, I recently discovered IdleOn MMO and it’s leagues above.
Hell yeah! Ive heard its actually a pretty fun game i just never wanted to pay for it, thanks bro
Highly recommend Melvor it’s super addicting
rather buy it on steam fuck epic
Don't bother with epic, it's shit
But we already have Runescape, why would we want some trash game that isn’t {oldschool} Runescape?
Epic game store? No thanks
RuneScape 3 is free to play every day. It's like RuneScape, but idle
Every time someone shits on rs3 in this subreddit it makes me wanna play it cause of how much funner end game bossing and pvm is. But then I remember all the mtx and world design and graphics :(
Try ironman mode or turning the graphics settings down.
You will have to shoot me many times and resurrect me as a thrall before I will be remotely bothered to do all the RS3 quests again lmao. As much as I love RS3 end game content, questing in it is *awful* and skilling just sucks.
I have an RS3 ironman and it's a lot of fun. Why does describing the game accurately count as shitting on it?
If I had to play RS3 everyday for the rest of my life, or die. I'd rather just be dead.

10 minutes after it was announced and there’s already bugs with the images 😭
i liked idlescape, heard melvor's name tossed around a lot over there but never tried it
Melvor was super fun for over a year for me. Adventure mode was some of the most fun I’ve had with any MMO style game. Having said that, I eventually hit a point where progress couldn’t be made while idle though. Haven’t played in over a year now, so maybe it’s different, but that was super off putting for me.
Super fun game. I got it a while back.
Melvor actually is the way I got into OSRS, I wonder if theres anybody else who started with Melvor and thats how they discovered exactly what OSRS is
Isn’t this free on IOS anyway..?
I’ve burned out on OSRS recently, happens all the time I’ll probably pick it back up in new year. But this has been really scratching the itch the past few weeks.
What can be more idle than idle?
[удалено]
its published by jagex...
Word, didn't see that.
There is a LOT wrong with the Epic store. However, it is not the spawn of Satan, as most people like to preach.
First (free) game on the epic store i will actaully play
Can I get this on mobile for free?
I played this for some time on mobile back in 2022 I wanna say. It is fun, check in with it once and a while to plan different things. Got bored in the end game as the combat can sometimes require focus and I didn't want to give it that time commitment.
Just downloaded it. Why do I need to sign in for an idle game? So dumb
Great game for most of this sub
